The Pokemon Online Wiki is live and public. It is of course very, very far from complete, though you may already find a good amount of useful content (over 160 analyses, full all-gen movepools for every Pokemon along with other competitive data on the species pages, type chart, and plenty of other fun pages). What has been written so far is merely a skeleton of what is to come, and we need your help to make that a reality. If you share our aims; to create a great resource for competitive Pokemon players, one which is open, embraces radical trust, is inviting, works with fellow communities, and is inclusive of a wide range of relevant information, or just want to build a part of something awesome, then you are invited to join. Find us on #PO Wiki on the main PO server, or on #PokemonOnline on irc.synirc.net. Any user is welcome to edit any page they feel they can improve, or to create pages which would be useful to other players. Every page has a full edit history saved, so nothing can be permanently broken or lost, and any damage from harmful edits can be easily repaired. As the community develops and content matures, staff will be appointed who will watch over and ensure the quality of various pages and sections. I'd like to thank a few of many contributors who made this possible, Jirachier for setting the wiki up initially and implementing the skin, Darkness for creating the logo and skin/main page design, coyotte508 for creating the program which this community is built around and asking me to build the wiki as well as his work on some important templates and data imports, zeroality for making things more efficient, and nixeagle for his work on importing base pages for items/moves/species/abilities as well as many other things, but perhaps most importantly convincing me to stick with it and make this thing ready to go public. I'd also like to thank all those writers, editors, and templaters who've put together most of what you will find, and provided many ideas to improve every aspect of the wiki. Keep it up people :) The site is still being improved, nixeagle and zeroality are working hard behind the scenes to optimize and add features which you should see popping up soon, but everything we need to build content is in place. So, come on over and play, let's fix everything!
Presently, the "damaged received" field on Pokemon pages stretches past 1024 horizontal pixels, meaning anyone using their browser at or below that resolution are going to have to deal with a horizontal scroll bar. This is bad bad bad web design, the "damage received" field should be revised, either by using smaller icons for the type icons or by using a more compact way to display the information in general; possibly a smaller grid similar to what is found on PO's pokedex but once again, smaller. Might I also suggest that a pokemon's current tier in both the PO and Smogon metagames be prominently displayed on its page.
First point, known issue (and there is a bug on nixeagle's tracker), zeroality is working on it along with several other header issues. As for adding tier, reasonable idea, though I don't think adding both smogon and PO tiers would be useful (more confusing). Got to handle alternate metagame tiering though, since a Pokemon could be tiered in a LC, Standard singles, Doubles, and Triples metagame. Additionally, important Pokemon will have an analysis for their highest legal tier, making it less important. And on the base species page, you'd want to list all generations ideally.. it kind of gets complicated. Still, I agree that having some info on tiering would be useful, just need to work out where exactly, and how to display it. I put up a thread here if you have further thoughts.
Good to know that the damage received thing is getting dealt with. As for tiering, I had imagined sort of a badge, something real easy to see. You're right that showing both Smogon and PO tiers might be confusing to some people, and since it's the PO wiki PO's tiering comes first of course.
Could you do a quick mock up in paint or something of what you're thinking/how you think it could fit onto a page? And reply in the other thread please.
Looks good! Want me to write article stubs as placeholders? (Gen5 Ubers metagame page did not exist last time I checked)
Still a long way to go with content, but we're making good progress :) Sure, would be great to have something up.
Quick question: I was browsing Team Archive and found a wrong sprite (Deoxys-D showed as Deoxys-N). I'm more using to the IMG - /IMG tags, and could not figure out how to correct this error. Is there a way to link to sprites from other sites?
It is possible, but far better to use our own images or upload them to the wiki. To fix that one, you can use {{pokeimg|Deoxys-D}}, the template accepts either name or number (though you may need to add a linebreak or space or something to make sure it works right).
Yes, very cool place so far, waiting for the brilliant minds of PO to put together a full Strat dex of the pokemon, so I don't have to rely on Smogon as much (Besides, they don't have Stratagies for pokemon such as Marshtomp ect..which are helpful for the Middle cup tier :P). But, I'll see if I can do anything helpful there :)
