I plan to introduce battle animations (ETA: 1 month). You probably saw aeo's replay viewer, I intend to do as least as good as his. So I will post my request for art here. You can get it from sprite sheets from pokemon games (the spriter resource, ...) or make it yourself. When the animation framework is ready, I'll release an alpha, and you'll be able to create your own animations easily and test them out (i'll write a full tutorial on how to then) but now it's just planning for the future. But it's going to happen. Note that the animation framework can replicate stuff at will and transform them (mirror, scale, squeeze, rotate...), so you will need to provide only one element of each. Also, there's a nice particle engine, so for weather, you only need to provide one particle So here goes: Requests - A rain drop - A hailstone - A sand particle - Spikes (one element) - A rock for stealth rock - An animated seed for leech seed, that starts from a seed and grows with like 3 different frames (Or you can provide each state individually) - A whirlwhind for whirlwhind (possibly animated with around 3 frames or so) - A pokeball (for sending pokemon in and out) - particle of ingame stat up/stat down I think with those i'll already have something good as a demo. But I may have more requests once I start implementing those!
A request straight away: could you implement it so that one can decide between the "classic" battle window without animatios and the new one with animations? Because my connection lags tremendously even without animations, and I bet many people share my problem. Anyway this is probably the biggest step forward to become the polar star of online pokemon gamers since the creation of PO itself: I am willing to help if I can (gosh I am offering my halp for LOTS of projects, I hope I can find time to do everything...)
Your laggy connections shouldn't have anything to do with battle animations Tears, don't worry about it, start designed graphics ;) (the network usage will stay the same, moving graphics don't make any difference)
Is this ok for the leech seed? Made with ripped images from gen 3 games and picasion online gif maker
Scrapped. Spoiler Did an original rain drop. And a Hail Particle (kinda sucks when big) And a Sandstorm Particle (a bit overdetailed) And here's a spike (Make them smaller when if actually used)[/HIDE]
@ Tears in Heavens: your picture is zoomed in, it's not pixel perfect... Also if you prefer you can just provide the 3 different frames. @ Groshi: no... I don't need zoomed in pictures, and I need pictures looking neat (weather it's pixel per pixel like in pokemon, or more sophisticated). I can zoom in/zoom out all I want in the animation.
Okay, so, does this look okay? (Rain Drop) In case it's too small, here's the link: http://imgur.com/1eiQd --- Hail. http://imgur.com/W0xty White on white is invisible... but the battle window is coloured, and the "background" of the particle is transparent, so it will be visible. --- Sandstorm. http://imgur.com/3j1Pr It has quite a bit of transparency. It's a bit linear, but you said you could stretch it.
I know, and in fact that's the point. The real dimension of the images I used is far smaller, but for some reason picasion automatically zooms in a lot when making the gif. Anyway, is my work okay, apart from the dimensions (I can provide you the images I used, that are the dimension used in-game)?
Sweet, that old request of mine is finally coming to fruition. Neverthless I can't sprite anymore, I might be able to persuade a friend of mine to try though.
@Tears, the problem is the way picasion zooms it is ugly. Just provide the frames @Groshi, I'll check, but i think better could be done for hail/rain, thanks
Yea, you just need to give me sequences, like behavior. Like the sequence in which to use them, and for what.
I improved the Hail Particle (made it more linear). I'll just link you, since you can't see it on this message board anyway. http://imgur.com/tlVqh And here's rain: http://imgur.com/2m8X4 (Gilad's rain particle is probably better than mine, epsecially with the drop) And I made some spikes:
Ok thanks I'll let you see the result as soon as I have an alpha. http://www.spriters-resource.com/ds/pokemonblackwhite/sheet/39327 : Found my balls!
Request: particle of stat up/ stat down, like those you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1Hlify9oaI
This is for the stat up/down particles, the smaller ones increase in size when a stat goes up/down (yes I'm giving you the sequence).
Also i tried to make a snowflake and a leech seed icons thingy. the snowflake made me hard life. but i finally managed to make one. (sorry it's not bgless. i forgot to do that. let me know if you want it without one.) and here's the plant:
Raindrop will definitely be useful, <3 Thanks, but for particles I don't support animation. I support fading it and out though, just look at the video and make a similar particle! I'll use one of the frames you provided though in the mean time :) Nice going for the snowflake. It's not exacty a hailstone, but it'll still look pretty! About the plant, this is the case in which I could need an animation (I'll try to use manaphy's), as a final picture it could've been good. When I make a pre alpha, you'll be able to understand. Other news: I don't like the missingno's actually, so I need a 32*32 pokeball icon that fits nicely there (or something else). Also, don't worry about the background and the HP bars, it's extremely easy to change them to something nicer, which i'm sure DN will do when he gets the alpha client, and you too will be able to!
I found a few 32 x 32 pokeballs, I don't know if any of these are what you are looking for. Hope this helps.
The second one definitely looks nice, if only we could have one animated for sending pokemons... But no ^^ Even though the icons you provided are 32*32, they are too big compared to the other pokemon. You need to have a smaller pokeball with some transparent border, maybe a 24*24 one with 4px on every side will do, or any other size as long as it looks alright when next to the other pokemon.
How about these? One of them is just a black silhouette-ish icon, but it might work as an unknown Pokemon icon. I don't know.
fainted. lol. Too bad the only pokeball that is needed is the red one. o: Or perhaps when hovering you can see what pokemon it is, then it is needed.
Yours look really great. I might really use them for something else. Cool, but can you make it 32*32 by adding transparent border? Edit: nvm, did it myself
Yup, it's pretty good! Can anyone make a 500*400 battle background? This would replace the white here:
This is a very amazing project, this will take PO simulator to a whole new level.I may not be able to contribute much but I have came across these attack rips on spriters resource.com.I am not sure if this will help you or not...but if you have to use it you may have to ask the permission of the maker of thread http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/showthread.php?tid=2859
http://i.imgur.com/Puxpm.png Just take note that when uploading to imgur they upload it into gif instead of png, so those are not the real colors (those are a little bit different) If you want me to zip the original file and to send you feel free. Oh also as you can see i added a glowing under the 6 pokemon pack thingy.
That looks good for grass battles, but in battle i'm not sure a 'static' background is the best. Well we'll see.
@Gilad : The Pokemon and the back ground are not a good match,I do not why but I feel it a bit unrealistic.Maybe change the colors a bit...idk.But knowing you,you can easily do that:P
Just tried night animation for rain and hail starting (normal you don't see rain yet, it's being done now), and it looks pretty nice. I'm doing weather at the moment. For what I mean by hailstone, check the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD5er47NMQ0 at 0:50. But i'll go with the current one by yiran and do sand/rain too!
Alright. I did sand, hail and rain! I need somebody to do a sun that I can put at the top left of the scene, animated or not. I'll add myself a red/yellow/white transparent layer under it, so I just need the sun that I can put at top left. It'll be used with sunny day for example.
Will weather be going constantly or will it go after each turn like the game? It would be cool if it was going constantly. Also this is awesome.
Ingame, it's now triggered only when it's invoked. I don't know yet, I'll just have feedback from the alpha and decide from that.
