So I would like to make it clear that our Youtube channel isn't just about battling. Don't forget that our community is a competitive Pokemon community, so we want videos that relate to competitiveness. But putting too much stress into competitive battling on our channel can make the channel very dull and boring. So we would also like videos that can relate competitive battling and at the same time make it sound fun. So post your ideas on the type of videos we can make to make things fun and competitive! Currently we offer: - Pokemon Battles - Simulator Tutorials - Talk Shows - Pokemon Analyses / Creative Movesets - Team of the Weeks - Discussion Videos - Tournaments What else can we offer? - Competitive Battling Guides - Full Pokemon analyses
I'm thinking of doing a slideshow kind of video with quotes. We have a collection of funny quotes in our staff section (not visible to members). Unfortunately, I'm not really sure how I will go about making it. I'm looking for anyone that can help me. EDIT: nvm, found someone
I can do a walkthrough for Pokemon Black, i'll upload the first part soon and you can tell me if its good enough. I'll Edit this post when its up. EDIT: Here are the vids. Spoiler and [/HIDE]
I'd be very happy to make a comprehensive tutorial video on constructing competitive Pokemon teams from a very simple beginning, as if to a player entirely new to competitive Pokemon. But the tutorial could go however complicated a viewer wishes to get. I'm fairly confident in my ability to build teams and I've helped several people on the PO server construct 3rd and 4th Gen teams, or even just constructed for them teams which were very succeful; I think I can do a job of conveying this kind of advice. I can provide a corresponding written component as well that would support / clarify the video. Things I'd cover would include things like: Ways of Dealing Damage (direct, passive, hazard) Offensive Type Coverage, maximising potential damage output Attack Choice (Fire Blast vs Flamethrower, etc) Item Choice (Life Orb vs Leftovers vs Choice Items) Reaching Offensive Goals (ie to weaken the opponent's Swampert to 33% so that DD Mence can sweep [in ADV]). Defensive Synergy Choosing Specific EV values And more, and more detail on those broad subjects, as well as other things that fit well with it. The main goal of this guide would be to encourage new players to make their own successful teams, instead of randomly choosing pokes from sources like analyses and RMTs and advice from friends, which in the end up not resonating together well. The main problem I forsee is that an extensive video of monotonous narration would get very boring very fast, and I wish I had a way to liven it. Another problem is that I've never made a successful creative Gen 5 team, so I would have to get someone to help me with that section. Of course, there are already plenty of guides in the PO forums, so I understand if this would be excessive. I will try to deviate from what has already been explained somewhat, but I understand if it's not needed.
Sounds great! You don't have to write a written component for this, a written outline would be fine. So I approve of this. Also, if your idea was approved you can make your own thread on whatever you're working on on this section.
Spoiler There are a couple of problems with these vids. The walkthrough should be in full screen, so it takes up the whole screen on Youtube. The sound quality is also pretty bad, it's hard to hear. So you should turn up the volume on your microphone. Use this as an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P_m5e8Ed-Y Also, you should try adding the background sound of the game while narrating. EDIT: We've decided that we're not going to focus on in-game walkthroughs, because that doesn't correlate towards the scopes of this community. As we're not really affiliated with in-game plays. But we can do tutorials on how to EV train, basic battling strategy, etc...
Thanks for the advice, i'll work on the videos as soon as i get back home (on phone atm) :) EDIT: Okay i'll stop then.
While I'm practicing my narrations, I would like to know what is the max sized video you and the other editors would prefer?
Since I LOVE this idea, and I am quite good at writing (in italian actually, but since I started coming to PO english has become my second language) I would like to help with the written outlines Eternal mentioned. Lemme know if you are interested. :)
Actually, I'm pretty sure that the 15 minute limit has been removed. Might want to have a look at that.
Well, I've been trying to come up with ideas. Best one so far is to record a teambat. It will pretty much be a normal teambat, with the teambuiding done on skype in a group call. Then the discussing of moves during the battle(s) will also be done on skype, with the battle(s) recorded. It will definately have to be at least 3 parts. The team will be made based on people who are willing to and able to do the skype call(obviously).
Hm, okay. I'm not totally sure how this is going to work. You can make your own thread on this on this section and work on it. If it's successful, then I'll have it uploaded on the channel.
Only some YouTube accounts get the limit removed. The account has to follow some requirements like being on a good copyright status and some other things but later on I can see the channel having the limit removed. My personal channel got it removed. Also I like the idea of a "Teambat". It'd be really cool to do if we got the time limit removed before we could do that.
Can I do a Pokemon of the week type thing, a weekly vid where I will pick a pokemon and disscuss movesets and stratagies. My channel (resume for this) http://www.youtube.com/user/Pokesports?ob=5 thanks guys, and hopefully you'ss let me!
Yes, you can. You can make your own thread on this on this section and get started on your first vid. Before making the video, you should write an outline of everything you're going to talk about on that Pokemon. This is so that everyone agrees on what you say is true. Like if you say that Pikachu is #15 in the Pokedex, we can point out that it is false and correct you before you make a video on it. When you're done, we'll evaluate you on how well your first vid is.
Maybe we should do a mini-series explaining on how and why certain pokemon are in certain tiers and how they stack up against other Pokemon in each of the tiers. Or even just explain the tiers themselves and qualifications for who is in what and why. I rather do it based on PO tiers but I'm game for Smogon tiers too, only because I like the RU tier a lot. For example, we use the Pokemon Latios. Latios is not only a Legendary Pokemon, but it has naturally high Attack/Special Attack stats and has enough speed to take on most other pokemon. It can defeat all of its type weaknesses and has very few walls. You know, something to that effect, but in video form.
I've been thinking that a podcast of the wells would be cool for any of the people who get voted into them willing to do it. It could have someone asking the questions from the actual well and the person in the well answering or it could just be an oral version of the well.
I would like to try making videos about a custom moveset on under-used pokemon. I can provide in-depth analysis on why I picked ev's + nature, certain moves, etc, and how this relates to the metagame in that particular tier the pokemon is in.
How to Download and use Pokemon Online Correctly: I already sent you one in the Server but... - by st8. But yeah. It covers from the Internet Start to the PO Web page. And to saving your files, to making your name/team. Also tells them to register their passwords! Lol.. The only thing that is needed is a narriator (Can't Spell >_<) but might be able to find someone or you..
Maybe this is a not so great idea, but what about make a team who can take videos like the tutorials on how to teambuild or the analisys, and translate them into other lenguages, like spanish (As soon as i can get a mic, i can do that). I know the community speaks english, but i think this could potentialy attract new users. Just an idea.
Yea, this would be great if we had someone that can translate English to Spanish and narrate in Spanish. Let me know if you can.
I would like to thank Kyrk for another brilliant idea. At the end of the battle, we'll have the narrator ask a question about something regarding the video. This is to get viewers participate more on our videos and get discussions going. Like at the end of a battle lets say the person won with a Volcarona. You can ask a question like, "Do you think Volcarona is too overpowered? And do you think it should be Uber?" Or if one of the battlers wins with a Choice Band Dragonite, you can ask a question like, "What Pokemon and sets do you use to beat/stop CB Dragonites?"
It has been removed for some frequent posters. My account with less than 100 subs has the 15 minute limit removed, so the PO youtube limit SHOULD be removed unless there is any copyright material in the videos.
i have 5 logs of scarf kookodile sweeping late game with the scarfmoxie set. it could make a good pokemon of the week because i feel its really really underrated. i think a couple are in UU and 3 are in LU. one of them only happened because of a lucky crit but still it'll be worth it. he's one of the best late game cleaners ive used because he doesnt have to set up, has 2 fantastic stabs and racks up attack boosts just for killing things.
I can do a series is random pokemon top 10, such as walls, Borks, items and such. I'll need hel wit the editing tho. We can make it opinionated, or somehow get the community to add things (votes?) and I'll do some witty commentary :3
One thing we want to stay away from is gimmicky stuff. We want to stick to the competitive theme of the channel. While Ozma suggested something less serious, something fun, but also adheres to the notion of competitiveness as well. So lets brainstorm. Okay, I would like to know more about this idea. You can message me on the server about it if you see me online and we can discuss.
I think we should have a video that shows newbies to Pokemon Online where the Natures, EV's etc. are found. This thread made me suggest this.
We could do an analysis over certain held items or moves, like comparing fire blast and flamethrower, or choice scarf to choice band, etc. Don't think you need to do a 15 minute analysis unless you're doing an analysis on all of the competitively viable items or moves.
I can't seem to find you on the server... but yeah, in short, its basically, pick a topic (ex: dissapointments of competitive play) and we do a top 10 of those, such as say, Porygon Z could be in there, Rypherior, Archeops, stuff like that
