Back again with another one of my teams that was very successful. I laddered on another server and got a very respectable rank with it before getting haxed to a weather team :/ and it got to 13 on PBC. But anyway it seems to be a great team for me so just enjoy and give plenty of feedback because this is one of my favorite teams and I would really like to make it better. The name Too Much to Handle means that this team can basically overwhelm the opponent and thus the name is born~ QR Code Spoiler http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=356&d=1315799149 Importable Spoiler Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Stealth Rock - Toxic - Taunt - Lava Plume Scizor (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Technician EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - U-turn - Bullet Punch - Superpower - Pursuit Rotom-W @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 180 SDef / 4 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Will-O-Wisp - Hydro Pump - Thunderbolt - Pain Split Celebi @ Life Orb Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 232 HP / 240 SAtk / 38 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Heal Bell - Leaf Storm - Hidden Power [Fire] - Thunder Wave Conkeldurr (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Guts EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Drain Punch - Payback - Bulk Up - Mach Punch Quagsire (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Unaware EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Earthquake - Toxic - Ice Beam - Recover Too Much to Handle | Heatran | Scizor | Rotom-W | Celebi | Conkeldurr | Quagsire | Item: Air Balloon Ability: Flash Fire 252 HP | 252 SDef | 6 Spd Nature: Calm (+SDef, -Atk) - Lava Plume - Toxic - Taunt - Stealth Rocks - Specially Defensive Heatran does some amazing work for this team. Stealth Rocks are must on any good team, so he was perfect for carrying them. Lava Plume has that great 30 % burn chance which will cut the Attack stat of your opponent and make Heatran last even longer. Toxic is for things like Jellicent that will give me some trouble and a good move to use when you know the opponent is going to switch out and you hopefully get a free Toxic in. Taunt rounds out the set by stopping those pesky non attackers that wiggle their way through your defenses. Previous Pokemon Spoiler Item: Choice Scarf Ability: Flash Fire 4 HP | 252 SAtk | 252 Spd Nature: Timid (+Spd, -Atk) - Fire Blast- Hidden Power Ice - Earth Power - Dragon Pulse - Synergy: : Celebi : Rotom W, Celebi, Quagsire : Rotom W, Celebi, Quagsire ...........................................:........................................... Item: Choice Band Ability: Technician 252 Atk | 242 HP | 8 Spd Nature: Adament (+Atk, -SAtk) - Bullet Punch - Superpower - Pursuit - U-Turn - Most frown on having multiple Choice items on the same team but I say bah to that! Choice Band Scizor can destroy most things it faces. U-Turn is an obvious scout and run move that I use especially well knowing that an enemy Reuniclus or something like that packs Hidden Power Fire that I can Turn over to Heatran's Flash Fire. What would this be without the star of the show Bullet Punch. What can I say about it? It's absolutely amazing with Technician boost, STAB, and Choice Band, ohya and the priority c: Superpower comes in handy vs Ferrothorn and Tyranitar when I know that I cant OHKO it with Bullet Punch. Pursuit fits perfectly on a Pokemon as intimidating as Scizor, many pokes run scared and that is just the reason I have Pursuit, in hopes that I snag the extra knock out on the switch out. Synergy: : Rotom W, Heatran ...........................................:........................................... Item: Leftovers Ability: Levitate 252 HP | 84 Def | 170 SDef | 4 Spd Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk) - Thunderbolt - Hydro Pump - Pain Split - Will-O-Wisp - By far my favorite form of Rotom and the best suited for this teams synergy as well. Nothing you all have not seen before move set wise, but that being because it works so well. Even for having all my EVs in bulkiness Hydro Pump will still leaves its mark on most opponents barring the ones that have Water Absorb of course. Will-O-Wisp cripples most physical sweepers that cause me problems. Thunderbolt is here over Thunder for accuracy and knowing my luck I would miss every time(lol already pushing it with Fire Blast and Hydro Pump) . Pain Split makes this set complete and gives it a small chance against the inevitable ChanBliss counters. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better suited Pokemon than this one. Synergy: : Scizor, Celebi, Heatran ...........................................:........................................... Item: Life Orb Ability: Natural Cure 232 HP | 240 SAtk | 38 Spd Nature: Modest (+SAtk, -Atk) - Heal Bell - Hidden Power Fire - Thunderwave - Leaf Storm - The newest addition to the team. It completes a nice core with Heatran that not many can break through. The main reason for using Celebi is the Heal Bell support that my team wanted so desperatly. Thunderwave will allow me to get in those extra few hits due to both parahax and the speed cut since I didnt use a Timid nature. Leaf Storm is here for a very hard hitting STAB move coming off of a good Special Attack stat, means it will dent most opponents. Hidden Power Fire is a must since Scizor is one of the most common pokemon out there and a Bug Bite/U-Turn from it will OHKO me, also wont let Ferrothorn wall me. Overall a great new addition, I'm very happy to see. Synergy: : Rotom W, Heatran : Scizor, Heatran, : Rotom W, Heatran, Quagsire : Scizor, Heatran : Scizor, Rotom W, Heatran Previous Pokemon Spoiler Item: Leftovers Ability: Justified 4 HP | 252 SAtk | 252 Spd Nature: Timid (+Spd, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Focus Blast - Hidden Power Ice - Giga Drain - ...........................................:........................................... Item: Leftovers Ability: Guts 252 Atk | 252 HP | 4 Def Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SAtk) - Drain Punch - Payback - Bulk Up - Mach Punch - I was once stalled out by a Miltank so I immediately added this gem to the team and it worked wonders. The bulk is pretty good not to mention the Attack stat for him, its running a common set as well. Drain Punch and Conkeldurr seemed to be made for each other because they work so well together, drain anything of its HP and return it to this monster, all in all simple enough. Payback is to OHKO Ghost and Psychic types that think they can OHKO Conk, soon to be smacked up by a hard hitting Payback when it doesn't knock him out. Bulk Up is the only good way for him to raise his Attack and the Defense boost is much appreciated too.Mach Punch is for Focus sash users and weakened pokes in general. The ability Guts allows Conk to take a burn and make it stronger because of it, raising its Attack stat into the 600s. Synergy: : Rotom W, Heatran : Scizor, Heatran ...........................................:........................................... Item: Leftovers Ability: Unaware 252 HP | 252 SDef | 4 Def Nature: Sassy (+SDef, -Spd) - Earthquake - Toxic- Recover - Ice Beam A suggestion from Steeli, it works great on this team. Stops enemy Heatrans in their tracks, helps vs Gliscor, can beat Excadrill etc... I dont lose the bulk that I had previosuly since Quagsire is just as if not bulkier than my last Gliscor. Earthqauke like I mentioned before is good for the likes of Heatran and Excarill. Toxic is a reliable damaging move that goes great with Earthquake becuase Earthquake hits both Steel and Posion supereffectively. Recover is the most reliable form of recovery and very welcomed on Quagsire. Ice Beam hits Landorus, Gliscor, Dragonite and many other threats in the metagame hard. Unaware is the main reason hes here, it stops all those buffers from sweeping or boosting Defenses to epic levels. Previous Pokemon Spoiler Item: Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal 6 HP | 252 Atk | 252 Spd Nature: Jolly (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Ice Fang - Swords Dance - Protect Synergy: : Scizor, Heatran, Celebi ...........................................:........................................... If you see any grammatical errors tell me about that too, because I didn't actually read it over and I'm still finding little mistakes (ie missed words, misspelled words etc..) *Bold means a change to the team.
Kingdra seems like a problem, getting past everything in your team perhaps maybe Virizion. Run 248 HP EVs on Gliscor, it's a poison heal number Otherwise, good team
Makes sense about the Gliscor and maybe it would be more beneficial to last longer vs Kingdra if I invest some EVs in Defense?
Hey there, Your team will have a hard time handling Thundurus. The Nasty Plot version has the potential to completely wreck your team, possibly 2HKOing all your team. Thunder(bolt) will quickly destroy Scizor, Conkeldurr and Rotom-W, while Hidden Power Ice beats Gliscor and Virizion. Heatran can be dealt with by Focus Blast. This is bad considering Thundurus is so popular. Furthermore, I think that Gliscor and Conkeldurr are pretty redundant together. While Gliscor is your only team member that is able to handle bulky Dragon Dance Dragonite, I think it's the one you should change. Quagsire fixes all your problems, as it's pretty much the best Thundurus counter in the metagame, while also being able to handle bulky DDnite. Here's the set you should use : Spoiler Quagsire @ Leftovers Unaware Sassy EVs : 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe -Earthquake -Recover -Ice Beam -Toxic [/HIDE] While a specially defensive version might seem weird, it's pretty much the only one able to handle Thundurus, while Dragonite using Dragon Claw instead of Outrage is pretty weak, so you shouldn't have problems with it. Good luck!
Thats a great idea Steeli, thanks! I'll test that and report back with the results. Also I'll try it in the place of Conkeldurr and Gliscor to see which is more effective. EDIT: Leaning towards taking out Gliscor atm~
Well, your team definitely has good synergy, but I don't understand what wins you your battles. You only seem to have pokemon that weaken and prepare for a late game sweep, and it doesn't seem like any member of your team can pull that off, except for maybe Conkeldurr, but to be honest he's not a reliable late game sweeper.
Well: -Low offensive stats -Low Physical Defense (Priority hurts). -Outsped by Swift Swim/Excadrill (it does resist most of their attacks, though) and Scarfed Pokemon, that will inflict a lot of damage if they're physical. -Not very good coverage. -Focus Blast is unreliable (meh, a lot of pokemon have this problem). So no, I don't consider Virizion too good of a sweeper, but if you can get it to work, congrats. I guess it could work against some teams...
Residual damage works well from Rocks and Toxic is a troll to any non Steel/Poison pokemon, Scizor comes in and cleans up, Virizion can sweep still with one Calm Mind it gets its Special Stats into the 400s (sweeping range). If that doesn't satisfy your sweeping urge what do you propose I do to change it? And btw I used this team mainly on PBC to ladder and got to 13 with it, I know not the best but its still pretty good. :p
Exactly why I use it ^_^ and as for the scarfed Pokemon thing @-Cat this is true but I'm pretty good at figuring out when it is scarfed and wont allow it to hit. EDIT: Going to update the Importable to reflect the changes I made recently. Done, new Importable available now~
@Kody Since you also use it to counter Weather, I don't know what to recommend :/ @Laundry and @Kody It's fine as a Calm Minder, but to be honest I have more success with Jirachi or Latias. The only one of these that fits on the team would be Latias, in my opinion, which is actually faster than Virizion, iirc. Even then I don't know how well that fits either. I definitely recommend trying it out, though, as it could work well.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely try it out in replacement of Virizion. So what set and EVS would you recommend? I usually have the best results with : Spoiler (Latias) (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Recover - Roar - Dragon Pulse But I lose major coverage using this one
I prefer running Max Hp and Max Speed, with a timid nature. It really depends on if you have problems with strong physical attackers. The 2 that I think are the biggest threats to Latias are Tyranitar, and Scizor. Roar is good so you can set up on something that's setting up and just roar it away. If not use something like HP Fire for coverage, or something :)
This was also a concern for the team which is why I will run a test with Refresh on Latias just to see how well it lasts. (not thinking that it will work that well for now)
I feel as if status has a major influence on this team....what would you all suggest for that? EDIT: Btw refresh Latias doesnt work very well >.<
Prediction. You have two toxic immunities, one twave immunity, and a will-o-wisp immunity (along with at least one pokemon that actually likes it).
Paralysis is the only one I dont like ....ya poison cant touch me very much except it sucks on my quagsire which is annoying.
For status on Latias you can run Substitute instead of Refresh to block status, but be wary of switching in on a T-wave or something. For status in general you'd have to run a Pokemon with Heal Bell, and the obvious choice would be that annoying fat egg (to not say anything worse >_>), Chansey. I don't know instead of who, though.
Any grass types like Virizion(too bad he doesnt get it xD) that can use Aromatherapy instead of Heal Bell?
Hmm... Well, the only ones I'd consider viable are Roserade and ...umm... Shaymin.... and... Chansey/Blissey get it too, lol.
Meganium would work too I think, but I have no idea what is effective when using Meganium since I've never used it even in UU.
I've never used Meganium either, and to be honest I don't even know it's stats, but I guess it could work.
If I went with Meganium I would probably use one like this.. Spoiler Meganium (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Overgrow EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 6 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Aromatherapy - Seed Bomb - Synthesis - Toxic Stats would be... Spoiler HP- 364 Attack- 200 Defense- 236 Special Attack- 181 Special Defense- 328 Speed- 197 So it would do a decent job of taking Special hits like Virizion does now. Thoughts on that?
Yeah, it looks like it could take a few special hits (bar Strong supereffective ones). To be honest I recommend you try it out, and see how it goes. You should be able to tell right away if Meganium works on the team or not, and with time if there are any better alternatives.
Hmmmm..... Meganium takes the hits all day but it really cant do much to hit back, the only way I would continue to use him is with Toxic
haha ya ....but theres one reason I didnt wanna use Celebi, but I cant for the life of me remember why :x
Yeah, Celebi is a lot better than Meganium. (When I searched for the Grass Pokemon that learned Aromatherapy, I should of also searched Heal Bell. D'oh!...)
What about this one as a specially defensive monster?... Spoiler Celebi @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 Spd Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Earth Power - Heal Bell - Giga Drain Using Calm mind in the same way that Virizion/Latias both do. or maybe... Spoiler Celebi @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 Spd Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Reflect - Synthesis - Heal Bell - Grass Knot For a more all around Celebi. But tbh neither of these sets are jumping out at me, what do you all say?
Well, I don't like the second one, and the first one doesn't seem to great either, imo. I'd use one that can also spread status. I remember a set called Tinkerbell which was nice Celebi support.
Perhaps you meant this? Spoiler Celebi @ Life Orb Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 232 HP / 240 SAtk / 38 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Thunder Wave - Leaf Storm - Hidden Power [Fire] - Psychic[/HIDE]
Spoiler Looks like a proper set to me (not up-to-date on my smogon sets so I didn't know what that one was :p) the only thing is I need Heal Bell on it I think.....I'll try it out though, thank you
