How to install Pokemon Online (completely step by step) [Mac w\ intel] Hi guys :) I decided to make this video to help people who got mac with intel, and stuck, because there is no creator that used mac to program Pokemon Online. To check if you got Intel chip or not, there is an apple sign in the most left above cornet. click on it. Then click "About This Mac". After it check if in your Pricessor you got the word " Intel" indisde. if you got it - you can use this guide. If not - you can also buy boot camp, or using This video, to get windows for free. So Let's begin the guide~ First Step As your first step, you want to make sure you download "Wine Bottle" From here- http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ Click the "download" Button and wait, After the new screen open, a download message will appear. Save the file and wait untill it will finish, and turn the programs on. Second Step After you finish downlaod the program, install it and wait untill you can use it. Now download Pokemon Online's windows download: http://pokemon-online.eu/files/Pokemon-Online-Setup.exe Third Step After you finish download Pokemon Online, you'll See this Icon - Don't worry, that what need to happen. Now click the icon twice, to open it, Click "Open", and you'll see this message- Click "Go" and the install page will appear, i don't wanna waste the page and your time, so i won't show how to install, but the only thing that's matter is to save the program in the desktop \ Applications file \ Main user \ Any place you will remember, BUT you must chose you place, don't click just "Next". --- As you can see, i chose my main user, which called omfeder. Fourth Step Now, click next and wait untill you will finish install Pokemon Online. After it will finish, go to the place you'll save it, and you'll see a folder called "Pokemon Online" Fifth Step Drag the folder to desktop if you want to make the way into pokemon online quicker. After you chose the location of Pokemon online, and you'll see bunch of icons Click the "Pokemon-Online.exe", and you'll see the same window we saw before As before, click "Go", and you'll be in the main page on the program! Now you can chose - build now a team, or go the the server you want. Good luck guys, please comment, if you got any question, ask, i'll be more then happy to answer you :)
Native build available at: http://valssi.fixme.fi/~lamperi/pokemonline/Pokemon-Online.dmg (thanks sukid) You should at least mention that this will work only in Intel macs, and probably make a mention in title that you are talking about wine. And it's possible to compile your own client, or use binaries that someone has compiled. I have builds at http://valssi.fixme.fi/~lamperi/pokemononline . Those haven't worked for everyone (mostly Leopard owners), but I'm unable to test why they aren't working since I only own Snow Leopard. Anyway, great job.
Wine's creator also made the famous CrossOver. :) Forgot to mention that it works only for mac (all new Mac's got intel chip inside already.) Hmm, thanks for ur' comment. :)
Yeah, I'm using Wine with an Intel Mac. I've played previous versions fine (though sometimes it crashes when I change rotom formes). Now, after updating to the new version of Pokemon Online, everytime I challenge someone, the game crashes. I can do everything else, like team building or chatting, but not challenging. I thought it was the music, so I turned it off, still crashes. Any thoughts?
I followed these steps, and PO was working fine, but when I went to load my team, Wine crashed. I relaunched it but then PO wouldn't open. Any suggestions as to what I did wrong?
I used to use the mac build of PO, but since no new leopard update has been made, I've had to use this. The old teams I made with my older version of PO don't show up when I go to select a team to load. In fact, nothing comes up. Here's two screenshots: As you can see, I can't "look in" anywhere. I also can't change the "files of type". Is there any way to fix this or do I just need to redo all my teams?
Because it's running in Wine, it uses different filesystem and settings from native one. You must look teams from elsewhere. Try to use that dialog to find your OSX home folder.
I can get up to the fourth step before I run into trouble. For some reason, the Pokemon Online folder does not show up when I view my user from the Finder. When I tried to just install the program again, I noticed that the folder shows up in my user (so it shows up in the Windows environment but not the Mac environment). I've done a simple spotlight search to try to find the folder on my computer (in the mac environment) to no avail. I can run the program by installing it over and over again, but I would like to be able to just start the program!
umm, i have notice recently that in some of the places , you can run it, but it just disappear. Try to install is in other location. Z:<your mac's name>, or in downloads folder. is it working now?
Thanks, Gilad. That worked. I've since encountered a different problem, however. Whenever I try to connect to the Beta Server, I get the error message "Error while connected to server -- Received error n°1: The remote host closed the connection". Any ideas as to what's causing this?
Right, I have an Intel-based Mac, and have used this method on previous PO versions and it worked. But I tried with the new client (the latest, gen 5), and works fine at first, but then crashes whenever I try to initiate/watch a battle. It says, "Program Error: The program Pokemon-Online.exe has encountered a serious problem... blablabla This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine... blablabla..." Mine's Wine version 1.2 I also tried CrossOver version 7.2 As you can see, I posted the same question before, but you suggested the native version at the time and it worked. Now, there is no native Leopard version... should I wait?
Hey I had no problem downloading the simulator and team builder, but when I try to go online, no servers appear to join. Really want to Gen 5 battle so help would be appreciated. thanks
Yes it is. It will work, no matter what version it will be. However, it is working for me. Do you have a Intel based Mac?
I am sure i have a mac w/ intel, but when i click the winebottler icon, either nothing comes up, and just sits there loading, or a list with something about prefixes, rather than the 'which file would you like to download' screen. I also run OSX. is there something i can do?
ummm, i dont have a mac, i have a Dell,it has intel inside if that counts... but i just need help downloading pokemon online to my laptop cuz i tried downloading it a couple times and it keeps saying: the setup files were corrupted. please obtain a new copy of the program. :(
I have the MacBook Pro everything seems fine untill I try to PM someone, ANYONE. It doesn't work. I had no problem before pressing CTRL then Click for it to PM someone and now I can't. IMPORTANT EDIT: To anyone who had the same problem as above. Go to preferences and hit the box that says "Emulate three button mouse" If you're a MacBook Pro user like me it changes it to Command instead of control. I can't Click links (couldn't before I even clicked the box) help.
I'm sure I remember Gilad having this same problem when the lnks were first introduced, though I'm not sure if he just lived with copy and pasting links or actually found a way to fix it.

Pokémon on Mac and Linux There is a much easier way for Mac (and Linux) users to get Pokémon Online running on their computer, with CrossOver Games 10.1 from CodeWeavers. http://www.codeweavers.com/via/pokemononline
There's already guide for CrossOver: http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/showthread.php?2236-How-on-to-run-PO-using-mac-crossover Anyways, pretty stable native builds have been arounds for months, so I don't see a benefit of running PO with wine-based software.
Please remember that you need to pay for CrossOver (after the trial period). Wine is free, though a slight few inconsistencies, such as the Home on the teambuilder can get covered by the 6th Pokemon. And on a side note, I own a 10.5.8 Macbook, and it auto-crashes with a POv2 app I saw hanging around the site a while back.
