Hey everyone! This thread is for posting your favorite funny sets that you've encountered, thought of or used throughout your experiences with Pokemon battling. Whether they are totally impractical (i.e. Drizzle Politoed's Rain Dance) or downright stupid (a la Splash on a Scarfed Gyarados), be sure to add them here! My personal favorites are: •Ice Punch Wooper and Shadow Claw Ferrothorn (Arms, please?) •Final Gambit Shedinja ('Cuz that 1 HP can really turn the tide.) •Rotom-S @ Air Balloon (3x immunity to Earthquake? Heck yeah!) •String Shot Mantine (lolwut?) So have fun, share your own, and laugh a little! :D
Once, in Challenge Cup... My Future Sight using Delibird was OHKO'd by a Shroomish's Focus Punch. One of the weirder fights I've seen.
From some random noob on Smogon: (http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3702209&postcount=168) Pure genius, this.
Butterfree/Beedrill/Beautifly/Dustox using Harden/Iron Defense. =/ Also stuff like Surfing/Diving in a Wifi Battle room. Creepy.
@SuperScizor I think there was an episode on the anime where Ash was battling one and the guy he was battling was explaining his Dugtrio's attack, and the accompanying diagram showed the Dugtrio burrowing towards Pikachu. :P It's still weird though. As is Diglett/Dugtrio learning Sucker Punch. :/ Also, why do spiders learn Sucker Punch anyways? Is there anything about being a spider that makes it easier to Sucker Punch?
It kicks up random rocks when it moves in the ground, and those rocks Scratch / Slash the opponent. Blissey's Physical movepool is wider than that of a lot of Physical sweepers. Blissey gets (choosing only competitive moves): Fling, Double-Edge, Return, Frustration, Earthquake, Brick Break, Facade, Retaliate, Rock Slide, Wild Charge, Last Resort, Focus Punch, Drain Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunderpunch and Zen Headbutt. Comparing that to Conkeldurr, and you'll see that Blissey has Fire, Ice, Electric and Psychic moves to its advantage. Conk would kill for Ice Punch. Choice Band Blissey. What a pro. Concerning Sucker Punch - it's Japanese name translates as "Surprise Attack". I think spiders fit that well.
I once fought a Pokemon that had Flame Charge and Gyro Ball. Don't want Gyro Ball to be too strong now do you?
Sucker Punch doesn't really mean Punch; it was just the translation. It's more like "getting the guy to do what you want and hitting them"
Oh I have many of these, too bad I don't remember them all. Choice Specs Reuniclus with Trick and Trick Room on the same moveset. Torchic with Mega Punch. Alakazam can learn Iron Tail without a tail but that makes sense to me since it's pre-evolutions have tails, but Torchic has no pre-evolutions with fist nor does it have fist so that's just strange. Blissey can Drain Punch with such stubby little arms...Yet Infernape can't. Substitute Belly Drum Salac Berry Politoed, interesting set.
Alakazam has a stubby little tail. Whats wierd are Pokemon that use Surf who are weak to water. Surfing Tyranitar much and Rhydon ▲_▲ In game wise I dint understand how you can fly on a taillow and a zubat xD!! Pokemon are so PRO!
I played a Rain Dance Moltres once. ...Strange gimmicks ftw? Oh, and the legendary dogs and the 5th gen dragon trio not getting Earthquake. I mean, MANTYKE gets it.
Swords Dance Choice Band Scizor Spoiler It used Swords Dance right as Knock Off was used, Top Tier Prediction right there
Synthesis Abomasnow, anyone? Oh, and Togekiss learns Drain Punch, while Hariyama doesn't. I mean, are you kidding me? T_T
Some guy killed my own Groudon with his Groudon's LO Solarbeam once. He got a crit, But I didn't mind because it was too funny. The fact that wild Pokemon forget how to fly/surf when you catch them also makes no sense whatsoever.
There was an anime episode when Ash had to catch a surfing Rhydon to help a girl digging a tunnel, iirc... In that episode, you could see a Rhydon swimming with incredible grace ^_^ My question is: bugs buzz when they fly, due to their wings' noise, right? Then how can Accelgor and Genesect buzz if they have no wings? Genesect can even fly... And about lulzy combos used on the simulator, Latios using memento on Defiant Bisharp (and he did it on purpose, since Bisharp was out since the previous turn) will always have a special place in my heart.
While I was playing ubers almost all my team was flinched to death by a Rock Slide, Waterfall, Brick Break and Thunder Wave... KYOGRE! Spoiler Fire Punch Ludicolo? LOL?
Those little birdies are beastly XD i think they're just so strong that it's possible to grab hold of their legs and have them fly off. On a side note, came across a rain dance kyogre a while back. Definitely didn't see that coming.
Trololol. For shits and giggles in a triples tour, I had a bronzong, claydol, and gengar. I used gravity <3 for some weird ass reason the opponents middle escadrille used earthquake. Pretty sure he was a noobie.
Surf Weavile is pretty weird, due to the fact that it is never implied in the anime or games that it can swim. And move combos that it is weird that they don't exist: [Secret] Magikarp lacks Surf Garchomp lacks Fly. [Secret]Diamond: When it folds up its body and extends its wings, it looks like a jet plane. It flies at sonic speed. Pearl: It flies at speeds equal to a jet fighter plane. It never allows its prey to escape. Soul Silver / Heart Gold: Its body is covered in fine scales that reduce drag, enabling it to fly at high speeds.[/secret] Ninjask has no Extremespeed Regigigas has no Rest even though you find it sleeping in the games.[/secret]
Weirder is Regigigas can't learn protect. It can drag continents but not defend itself for a caterpie. Also, fire blast golem and whirlwind Snorlax. (So disturbing)
