So I take it that most of you have more than one team saved? How do you name your teams to distinguish one from the other? I just name them by number because I can't really think of anything else ._.
My method is naming the team by the tier and the number. So an example would be: OU Team 124.0 So that would me my 124th OU team. If I make any changes in improving it, then I would either rename it or keep OU Team 124.0 and after making the change, save it by the changed name. So lets say I gave my Jirachi Ice Punch instead of Fire Punch. Through this change I would call the team: OU Team 124.1 in replacement of 124.0. If I'm changing a Pokemon in that team, then that would make the team different. Thus, I would save it as OU Team 125.0. You usually memorize your most successful teams when you use them a lot. So trying to find the team isn't a big problem.
Haha I like your way of doing it Eternal. I agree that I usually memorize which teams I use a lot so it wouldn't be hard to guess which teams are which.
Eternal's method is similar to mine. An example name of mine would be "PO Team 1 - NB Team 39.4 Scizor over Lucario" The PO Team 1 explains that it was the first team I made on PO. The NB Team 39.4 states that it was the 39th team I made on NetBattle, and that it is the fourth change from the original 39th team. The "Scizor over Lucario" explains the change I made. That is, of course, I actually do think of a name for a team, in which case I'll use the name I thought of. BLARG was an amusing team name for one of my old ADV teams.
My system is awesome. Team names: trainer.tp trainer2.tp traineroldformat.tp (For the older style team format before public release). Any others would be called trainer3.tp, trainer4.tp etc...
I normally name it by tier, then by type, and then by number. For example, OU RD is the name of my first Rain Dance team. I only ass numbers when I have more than one team of the same type, or setup sweeper. UU Arcanine Sweep 2 would be my second UU team around Arcanine. But as Eternal said, you will generally remember your most successful teams regardless of the name, unless you go on hiatus or something.
I name it based on the style of the team like heavyoffense.tp and append "uu" or "ubers" at the end if it isn't ou.
I name my teams from the experience I gain with it after battle. If I get a bad experience or suppose after the battle I realize that the team was poorly built, I will name it "suckish" or something. If I get good experience, I will name it like, "iRule". Of course I use different words at different times or else there would be no way for me to differentiate my teams. lol
[Tier-name]team-[last Pokemon] ^ for standard teams For NFE, which is what I usually do: [Tier-name]-team[number]
I just have one saved team and keep all the pokemon in boxes. That way I can recreate a team every time I want to. I can't really do it on the fly, but I have more fun this way.
My latest format for saving teams in Netbattle is [[Generation No.]] [Player Name] [Metagame] [Tier] [Team No.] [Team Name] eg. [1st] Lutra Standard RBY OU 1 - Genus & Species I use the team name as a theme for my nicknames.
Mine are usually based on thier appearance but more often than not I find something humorous. Such as my Blastoise which is nicked Bathtoys etc. (Don't want to give them all out). :P But for teams I just go Team1, Team2 and so on.
I usually just give them generic names, however if there is a special strategy for a certain team I name it after the strategy. Generally though I usually name them like OUteam, UUteam, etc.
I have them all seperated in different folders per tier (OU Folder, NU Folder, etc, etc). I used to name them by the first pokemon and last pokemon, so a team with Azelf/Hippowdon/Swampert/Skarmory/Heracross would be named Azelf Heracross. (I don't make teams that are that bad, btw.) If its for a tournament, I name it like <tournament name or abr> Team. As of late though, I just started naming my teams like "This team is ASS" or stuff like that, because I haven't built a team I like in some time.
I try to give my teams 'creative names' (that I will find witty for all of about 3 minutes) and I keep them in folders for their tier. For pokemon I just pick the focal point of the set, be it the item, a move or purpose (ex. Baiting).
Tier, number, quick name to memorize, open square bracket, list pokemon used, closed square bracket. So it's usually something like "OU 33 that team build around agiligross [Leadchamp,(...), Agiligross]". I still have teams with random strings of text as names from earlier on, no clue what's inside either.
I use random words Bluff, Folly, Rusty, Riot, It doesn't matter to me tbh. I only use the one team anyway.
Considering most of my teams are for an RP, they're named by the name of the character and its faction.
In the filename I usually just go simple, like OU, UU, Sandstream, etc. But I (used to) give my username a difference for each team, by changing the word after Hodou from Masaka to an acronym for the tier or strategy. For fun. Like, my UU team was "Hodou Under Umbrella" and my LC team was "Hodou Likes Candy."
