With STAB X-Scissor and "her" great attack Pinsir is able to seriously cripple if not destroy most leads. Here are a few calculations to prove it. Spoiler X-Scissor vs. 252 HP/104 Def Uxie: 52.5% - 62.7% X-Scissor vs. 54 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 86.0% - 101.3% X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 80 Def Claydol: 76.5% - 90.7% X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Alakazam: 111.5% - 131.8% Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Ambipom: 98.9% - 116.9% Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Omastar: 81.6% - 96.5% Close Combat vs. 160 HP / 0 Def Cloyster: 59.8% - 70.5% Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Moltres: 103.1% - 121.9% Stone Edge vs. 192 HP / 0 Def Arcanine: 76.4% - 90.0% Being able to bring many common bulky leads within 2HKO range, and OHKO the faster frailer leads is definitely something to brag about. Either set-up SR on the bulky lead switch or go for the kill. Either way the opponent only gets up 1 layer of Spikes/Toxic Spikes, and in worst case SR. ===TheBROOMS=== Azumarill (F) @ Choice Band Trait: Huge Power EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Waterfall - Aqua Jet - Return - Superpower STAB, priority move coming off 150 base attack after Huge Power makes for a formidable revenge killer. Return / Waterfall makes a BoltBeam-esque combo for neutral damage on every type. Superpower is there to hit the ever common Registeel super effectively. Be careful firing off the Aqua Jet, as it is perfect for a Poliwrath to come in absorb the hit, Sub on the switch, and fire off a full power Focus Punch. Arcanine (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - ExtremeSpeed - Flare Blitz - Morning Sun - Thunder Fang Flare Blitz for fire STAB, watch out for Houndoom, ExtremeSpeed for even more revenge killing. Morning Sun to heal off Life Orb / Stealth Rock. Thunder Fang to take a chunk out of incoming bulky waters. I prefer Flash Fire over Intimidate, but both are exceptionally useful. Venusaur (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Overgrow EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Leaf Storm - Sludge Bomb - Sleep Powder - Synthesis With the final sweeper being grass, completes a fire, grass, water core. Leaf Storm for the grass STAB, although it sharply drops SpAtk, Sludge Bomb there for more STAB to hit any incoming water types neutrally, and grass types super effectively. Or Sleep Powder something on a switch, or a pokemon that can really hurt the team. Synthesis is to heal off and damage Venusaur may have sustained, useful after a Sleep Powder switch. ===TheWALL=== Milotic (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Marvel Scale EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Surf - Toxic - Ice Beam - Recover Surf is used for the standard water STAB, Toxic is used to out stall other bulky waters, Ice Beam to wreck incoming grass types. And Recover to heal off any residual or regular damage. Maxed defense EVs because it is working as the only wall on the team, and Milo' already has outstanding SpDef. ===TheTRAPPER=== Dugtrio (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Arena Trap EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Night Slash - Earthquake - Stone Edge - Substitute This little.. thing, is sort of an odd man out on this team. Really only used to absorb harmful T-Waves that can cripple some of my sweepers. Dugtrio's ability Arena Trap allows it to "trap" pokemon that can normally switch out at will. this is especially useful on weakened pokemon, and steel types. Be wary that the opposing pokemon doesn't hold a Shed Shell or Arena Trap is useless. Night Slash is to hit Mismagius, and Alakazam bringing both out of substitue range. Earthquake for STAB and to kill steels. Stone Edge for flying types EQ can't hit. And substitue as a useful little situational move. For example a Sucker Punch from Houndoom can OHKO Dugtrio, so substitute to evade the S Punch, then EQ to finish it off while it only breaks your sub. -PLEASE NOTE- Don't forget to max happiness on Azumarill to make sure you get max power on Return.
Cool team. Actually, for pinsir, don't you think Hyper Cutter would be better? I don't see any benefits from Mold Breaker as it doesn't have EQ to KO pokémons with levitate, well it's true that you can break battle armor drapion but imo hyper cutter would be better.
Is there any reason as to why you haven't used the extra 4 EVs on Arcanine, Venusaur and Milotic? Just noticed something else as well: I'm sure you meant to put Pinsir's Special Attack EVs into Speed :P I'd also recommend Intimidate over Flash Fire on Arcanine, and giving Arcanine a few more HP EVs. I'm confused about Milotic. In the copyable part, you've given Milotic 252 SDef EVs, and in the description you've given him 252 Def EVs. Which is the correct one? Finally, coyotte's suggestion of using Hyper Cutter seems like the better option to me as well. I can't see many advantages to using Mold Breaker on that Pinsir, although I may be missing some.
I wanna applaud you for ignoring Zeroality's post about the format we're supposed to use. I like it more this way.
The importable code in the secret tab is exactly how zeroality wanted it. The rest of the post is like a standard RMT post. There's nothing wrong with it.
Ah yes! I didn't notice. Speed would be preferable on Pinsir, thanks for pointing it out. Mold Breaker was for the stupid Shedinja's that kept switching in. But I've since replaced EQ with Stone Edge. So I suppose it has lost its usefulness. About the 4 EV thing, Personally I just don't see the use of an extra point. But I'm sure others do, so I'll go ahead and update it. Yea, Milo was a sort of an accident. Originally I had max SpDef, but while writing this I realised as it's functioning as the only wall I should max Def. I'll Update, thanks again.
you know, sometimes it happens that you're left with 1HP or against an opponent with the same speed, so never forget that extra point :)
