Since we have a NU adv discussion and a adv discussion(which have more of OU adv) so i create a uu adv discussion. Discuss about eveything of the uu adv metagame here, such as broken pokemons and good strategy, set, team and things like that.
Since Adv UU is my favorite Metagame and I know it pretty much inside and out I could probably help anyone that needs it and in the meantime I think I might just give a brief outline for how to play Adv UU and what the best pokemon are etc. First I will say that in UU, BP is really fucking good. The team I've used for quite some time is Gorebyss, Flareon, Mawile, Mr. mime, Ariados, with Octillery as a recipient just for fun. However it kind of had problems with Nidoking, so I put CM Solrock over Ariados. Teams that just utilize 1 or 2 BPers are really good too. Things like Nidoking, Kangaskhan, Poliwrath, Feraligatr, etc, work really well with Scyther. One of the most famous UU teams of all time revolves around passing Calm Minds with Lunatone to threats like Ninetales, SunnyBeam Vileplume (which is the best set), Tentacruel, etc. Pretty much nobody uses a Phazer in UU so BP is an excellent move to use to take advantage of this. The only time I think I've ever lost with my BP team was against a taunt Electrode lead :x Another cool thing about UU is you can use all kinds of teams, and all kinds of Pokemon. The UU rapid spinners are much better than the spin blockers (although ghosts are still really good, even without spikes. Sableye will wall the shit out of Hitmontop and most Blastoise though), so you can use Shedinja to pretty good success. Also, Shuckle is probably the best wall for Kangaskhan, and doesn't die to much of anything else that doesn't set up, and it gets Encore, so you can make a team to take Advantage of that. You can also succeed with a brutally offensive team, or a full stall team (although having something like fearow or a sweeper like Feraligatr on your stall team is a much better idea). So here are a bunch of the best UU pokemon anyway: Physical/Mixed Sweepers: Pinsir, Feraligatr, Victreebel, Kangaskhan, Scyther, Granbull, Gligar (Sandslash to a lesser degree but it's still pretty good), Tentacruel, Banette, Nidoking, Camerupt CBers: Nidoking, Hitmonlee (Primeape also, but Hitmonlee is much better), Fearow, Kangaskhan, Aggron, Pinsir, Sharpedo, Granbull Special Sweepers: Sharpedo, Electabuzz, (use Thief or Toxic, Petaya is a piece of shit. And Don't even bother with Manectric... Use Pikachu if you are cool :D), Vileplume (and Bellossom), Ninetales, Golduck, Omastar, Gorebyss, Slowking, Misdreavus, in recent years fine user Pirotechnix has shown us that WALREIN can be a monster of a special sweeper. "Physical Walls"(actually amounts to normal+flying resistance): Golem, Aggron, Solrock, Omastar Special Walls: Hypno, Lanturn, Grumpig, Ampharos, MUK, Mantine sort of, Clefable sort of and Flareon sort of. Multipurpose Walls: Altaria, Quagsire, Walrein, Meganium (although Swords Dance Meganium is the coolest :3), Vileplume, Cradily, Shuckle, Blastoise Spikers: Omastar, Cacturne, Qwilfish(coolest) Spinners: Hitmontop, Blastoise, Tentacruel(Best), Sandslash BPers: Lunatone, Scyther, Mr. Mime, Hypno, Gorebyss. Things like Rapidash and Fearow can do an excellent job of passing Substitutes! I used to use Rapidash + Belly Drum Poliwrath and it was pretty excellent. Also, keep in mind, that despite the distinction of special walls and physical walls, you do not just need to have 1 of each on your team. You need to counter buttloads of specific pokemon, and the pokemon listed just do a good job of helping cover most of them with the least amount of pokemon, and some Special walls wall physical attack really well, like Hypno can take a cb fighting hit like nobodies business for example. so, things you need to counter: - Electric Types - Sunnybeam Vileplume (generally this will cover your Fire type weakness too, since most fire types use Fire Blast + HP Grass as their only coverage anyway) - Gligar - Kangaskhan and/or Fearow - Calm Mind Psychics - Calm Mind Clefable - Calm Mind Golduck - Water Types (Don't forget about Quagsire! Earthquake does quite a bit on Vileplume. Also keep in mind that Sharpedo often packs Earthquake or possibly HP Grass) - Pinsir - Fighting Types - Nidoking - TENTACRUEL - Petaya/Salac/Liechi berry users (A priority move will handle most of these, but you can choose to just wall them by their specific type, or use Endure+Salac Sharpedo against Reversalers!) - Shedinja (Even if you have spikes, at least 4 of your pokemon should be able to kill it) Tentacruel is probably the hardest pokemon in the game to counter. The problem with Tentacruel is that if you are using something like Misdreavus, or Hypno, an Electric type to counter it, it will wear you down well before you wear down Tentacruel, especially if it has spikes set up too. Things that counter it reliably are: Quagsire, and Cursing Muk. Tentacruel generally has Substitute for its third move. However, if it has Giga Drain, it can beat Quagsire. If it has HP Ground, it can beat Muk. Sticking Earthquake on Walrein or Blastoise or using Feraligatr can also help against Tentacruel, but you still have to worry about it beating you while you Rest or poisoning you and wearing you down if you don't have Rest. Encore on something like Walrein or Clefable can help with beating Tentacruel, too. Note that Shedinja walls Tentacruel entirely, but if spikes or up or it has Thief, Shedinja is FINISHED. However, Tentacruel is still only like the 5th or 6th best pokemon in UU. Kangaskhan is the fucking king, followed by Nidoking, who is surprisingly not the king, and Feraligatr. Then you have like Walrein and Pinsir or something. A final point: despite the fact that Lapras and Hariyama are listed as UU on uusf's tier list, nobody on uusf has used them in uu for quite some time... I personally don't consider them UU because Hariyama is fucking indestructable and Lapras makes Walrein a bit shittier, and also Dragon Dance Lapras is surprisingly hard to wall. But since they are listed as UU here, feel free to win some tournaments with them! They are very good pokemon!
I tried using Sun in UU Adv and it worked quite well, but my team was basically just sweepers/Hitmontop/Aggron. NU Adv and UU Adv are pretty similar in the strengths apart from Aggron. He is just a beast and possibly the best pokemon in UU Adv
Loool,i try shedinja like now,and it is so fucking pro.I use lum berry on him,so no toxic/wow and i have a sandslash as sweeper with like same set as excadrill and with rapid spin,it works pretty good.@Archer aggron isn't the best pokemon,he can be walled by many bulky pokes i try a choice band set and it lost to sandslash so easilly o---o uuhm i like hitmontop idea, will try him. Also why gligar is UU?He dont have pretty good stats i think he would be uu... As shrap say, tentacruel works pretty good,Buuut blastoise works more. There are one really broken combination:Vileplume+blastoise works really awesome, they have pretty good coverage :D.
well, tentacruel is supposed to be a swords dance sweeper, while blastoise... rapid spins and surfs ground types. and gligar is one of the best uu pokemon. it is a good fighting resistance, it's decently fast, and it has pretty good coverage in uu with its stab moves. bulky water pokemon are pretty easy to wear down with spikes + toxic, and after they're gone it has a good shot at sweeping. it also gets quick attack which is always useful, or iron tail which lets it beat lunatone/solrock (unless you miss..) and it resists handles quake+rock slide dudes pretty well. it's also pretty much the only good switchin for pinsir :x
my favorite uu pokemon is double status ninetales. hypnosis+willowisp give my opponent a hard time switching in. its hilarious.
Qwilfish is pretty good. I used the Spikes/Explode set to a good effect. Also, CB Hitmonlee is pretty scary. As is Kang. After playing a few games of UU, I suddenly became aware of how beastly Kangashan is. Theres not really anything that can safely switch in, apart from Reflect Solrock. I need to test some more, but Kang is probably the most broken pokemon in the tier. As for Lapras/Hariyama being UU... what? These pokemon are more than capable in OU, and are just downright too good for UU. I'd like to see anything in UU get past Resttalk Hariyama (except maybe Gligar). And Lapras... would replace Lanturn on most teams. 4x Ice resist, access to Shell Armor if you're interested, access to Heal Bell, better stats all around, has offensive options. Only thing Lanturn has is Volt Absorb. But Lapras still has Water Absorb, so...
kangaskhan is easily the best. restalk omastar is a better switch than reflect solrock however, because it can't be 3hkod by earthquake unless it's cbed, and it can't get ch because of shell armor or whatever that trait is.
Seriously considering getting into this tier. It looks like a lot of fun :D I think I might start with a baton passing team since I've had a bit of experience with that already.
