Introduction: Hey there, I'm Terrorghoul. Some of you may know me from around PO. I have been using it for a while now and i have made many successful teams however, this team would have to be my most successful. With it i managed to claim the #1 spot on the DW OU ladder under my alt, Swim Suit Model with a total of 1654 ladder points. I got the idea to make this team when i was sitting around doing nothing one night. I decided to make a team and this was my result. This also happens to be my first RMT. Spoiler [/HIDE] So without further adieu, my team: At a Glance: Spoiler Team Building Process: The first thing i decided on was that i wanted to make a team using Tornadus. I tried many different Tornadus sets like Substitute Tornadus and even Bulk Up Tornadus, but the one that stuck out the most to me was Choice Specs Tornadus. Choice specs Tornadus blows holes through teams with Hurricane and with entry hazard support, there is almost no safe switch into him, even things that resist Hurricane still take massive damage aside from Blissey or Chansey. I immediately chose Politoad for my next pokemon due to Drizzle giving Hurricane 100% Accuracy. Politoad also helped with covering the ice weakness Tornadus had. It was at this point that i decided to build this team into a rain team. You all saw this coming, Ferrothorn on a rain team, it just has to be done. I needed a pokemon that could set up entry hazards and help support my teams weaknesses and Ferrothorn fit the role perfectly. With the way the team was looking, i started to see that i needed another way of handling fighting types. Although i had tornadus to handle them, once he was gone i had nothing else and i could get swept by almost any fighting type (Mainly Breloom). At the same time i wanted a pokemon who could sweep outside of rain and cause many switches. I took some time but Gengar came to mind. He could cause massive damage late game and appreciated entry hazard support and he gave me another way of dealing with fighting types. He also worked as a spin blocker which was a plus ^.^ At this point i needed a Swift Swimmer. I wanted to try someone that is not seen as much any more and could also set up in rain so Kingdra and Ludicolo were out of the question. I then decided to choose Kabutops. Ever since Gen 1 he has been one of my favorite pokemon and this team was the perfect opportunity to begin using him. After +2 a Life Orb boosted Waterfall in rain basically KO'd everything that didn't resist it and with entry support it just made him that more deadly. I wanted the surprise factor so I didn't want to use Politoad as a lead so that i could conceal my weather until it was absolutely necessary to use him. I wanted a lead that could set up both Spikes and Stealth Rocks and the first pokemon that came to mind was my favorite suicide lead, Deoxys-S. He almost always got up Stealth Rocks and at least 1 layer of Spikes which set the pace of the game right off the bat. So there it is, my gen 5 DW OU rain team. Revolving around the beast that is Tornadus, I had tons of fun playing with this team and now its finally time to share it with everyone else. Hope you all enjoy it just as much as i did :D Spoiler [/HIDE] A Closer Look: The Moon ( Deoxys-S ) @ ( Focus Sash ) Trait: Pressure EVs: 108 HP / 196 Atk / 4 Def / 200 Spe Jolly Nature (+ Spe, - Atk) ~ Stealth Rock ~ Spikes ~ Superpower ~ Magic Coat Why:A pretty standard lead Deoxys set. Stealth Rock and Spikes are there for obvious reason. Magic Coat to bounce back priority Taunts/Thunder Waves. Superpower to catch Tyranitars off gaurd. The 196 attack EV's allow him to OHKO Tyranitars with 252 hp and 0 defense on average. 200 speed to outspeed +speed choice scarf Genosekt. 4 defense EV's so that Genosekts will always get +1 Sp.Attack allowing me to always live the U-turn with enough hp to live a turn of sand residual damage. --- The Horizon ( Tornadus ) () @ ( Choice Specs ) Trait: Defiant EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature (+ Spe, - Atk) ~ Hurricane ~ Focus Blast ~ Hidden Power ~ Grass Knot Why: A complete monster in the rain, Punches wholes through teams with Specs Hurricane. Standard EV spread, i really only ever use Hurricane due to its massive power but i will use the other attacks if necessary. The reason i run Defiant over Prankster is so that a pokemon with Trace that carries a move like Thunder Wave (Porygon2) can't get priority on it and cripple Tornadus. --- The Rain ( Politoed ) ()@ ( Leftovers ) Trait: Drizzle EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Bold Nature (+ Def, - Atk) ~ Scald ~ Hypnosis ~ Perish Song ~ Protect Why: Pretty standard toad set. I use perish song + Protect to force switches and stop Baton Pass chains. If in a tough situation and something sets up on me i'll use it to force them to switch out but that doesn't happen much. Hypnosis is there for putting things that can cause my team problems to sleep or to get a safe switch in to something else (If it hits >.>). --- The Reef ( Ferrothorn ) () @ ( Leftovers) Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD Sassy Nature (+ SpD, - Spe) ~ Spikes ~ Power Whip ~ Gyro Ball ~ Leech Seed Why: Standard specially defensive EV spread. Covers a lot of my teams weaknesses and helps support the team. I run Spikes because most of the time i can only get up 1 layer with Deoxys so Ferrothorn helps continue the process. --- The Abyss ( Gengar) () @ ( Life Orb ) Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature (+ Spe, - SpA) ~ Substitute ~ Shadow Ball ~ Focus Blast ~ Pain Split Why:Provides me with another method of handling fighting types while being a spin blocker and late game sweeper. Sub Split so that im able to set up on Blissey/Chansey and wear it down to the point where Focus Blast KO's it. --- The Flood ( Kabutops ) () @ ( Life Orb ) Trait: Swift Swim EVs: 32 HP / 248 Atk / 228 Spe Adamant Nature (+ Atk, - SpA) ~ Swords Dance ~ Waterfall ~ Stone Edge ~ Aqua Jet Why:My Swift Swim sweeper. Sweeps through entire teams after a Swords Dance. 228 speed EV's allows me to outspeed max speed Deoxys-S while in rain, the 32 EV's in HP are so that his HP now hits a Life Orb number ( This means that i will take the least amount of recoil from life orb allowing me to get in 1 extra attack if it came down to me taking only life orb damage) and the rest in attack. I use Aqua Jet because with it im able to revenge kill certain threats outside of rain like Excadrill if they are in KO range. The team also lacks any priority so this helps. Exportable Version: Spoiler Deoxys-S @ Focus Sash Trait: Pressure EVs: 108 HP / 196 Atk / 4 Def / 200 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Stealth Rock - Superpower - Spikes - Magic Coat Tornadus (M) @ Choice Specs Trait: Defiant EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Hurricane - Focus Blast - Hidden Power [Ice] - Grass Knot Politoed (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Drizzle EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Perish Song - Protect - Hypnosis - Scald Gengar (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Focus Blast - Shadow Ball - Pain Split Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Leech Seed - Spikes - Gyro Ball - Power Whip Kabutops (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Swift Swim EVs: 32 HP / 248 Atk / 228 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Stone Edge - Aqua Jet - Waterfall[/HIDE] Conclusion: Well there you have it, my rain team. Like I said before, i really enjoyed playing with this team especially since it has some of my favorite pokemon. I got pretty lazy with nicknames as you can probably tell, i spent quite some time thinking of a theme for this team but i couldn't figure out anything. As stated in the beginning, this is my first RMT so let me know if i forgot something or did anything wrong.
Hey there, I thought i'd look into your team a bit. Generally don't rate teams but since I'm up for it up the moment. Do know that whatever I'm going to say is to help you remind what your team is weak to, so you can then fix it if you are still wanting to use this team (or for anyone that wants to use this team and sees the same weaknesses as I do). You are quite weak to stall teams and status in general. If the opponent has a team with something like Chansey, Tentacruel and Ferrothorn as three of their Pokemon, you are already walled quite hard. Obviously then they have three other Pokemon to back that core up, you're in trouble. Your team doesn't like hazards itself, while it's quite easy to set them up on you. If a Thunder Wave Ferrothorn switches in on you, the only things you can safely get in on it is your own Ferrothorn, where they can also continue to Spike up and spin them away with another Pokemon (your Gengar is no match for Tentacruel or specially defensive Forretress), still considering it's a stall team you're fighting. Your team really needs the hazards though, so I do see it as a big problem. To continue on the status thing, a Breloom can get in pretty easy on Ferrothorn using anything but Gyro Ball or it can get in on Politoed and even on Kabutops and Spore something without you being able to do much about it. Since you have no status healer or something with Sleep Talk you are already fighting with one Pokemon less so to speak. Another Pokemon with status, that doesn't even need it to take you down, is Thundurus. It outspeeds half of your team (and ties with Tornadus), and proceed to 2HKO or OHKO every single member of your team. Things like Kabutops are risking a Thunder Wave, which makes it basically worthless. No need to say since this is somewhat of an offensive team, you have trouble with Trick Room Reuniclus and other offensive Deoxys'. The only things that can do something to Deoxys is your Kabutops, who can't switch in directly and is walled easily by an opponent Ferrothorn, Celebi, Breloom or whatever. I'm sure you've played around them, even though I don't see you playing around a good stall team in hands of a decent player. The biggest problem is that you CAN"T play around some things, like Deoxys and Thundurus. Not to say that this isn't a good team , because it obviously got you high on the ladder. This team does lack synergy though, which prevents it from reaching it's maximum potential.
Ever thought about using Encore instead of Protect on the Toed? It has some nice effects on slow things which try to setup Ex : CM Reuniclus.
