Jynx (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Dry Skin EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Icy Wind - Lovely Kiss - Ice Beam - Psyshock This is by far the most consistently good lead I have used so far. Icy Wind lets you beat many common opposing leads such as Aerodactyl, Accelgor, Galvantula, and Scolipede. Ice Beam is the main attacking move and is just an excellent offensive move in general. Lovely Kiss is a solid move that lets you negate most Pokemon, makes it very rare that Jynx is not able to put you at least a little ahead. It also lets you beat Pokemon that rely on Sucker Punch to hit Jynx, such as Druddigon, Bisharp, and Absol. Psyshock lets you hit opposing Fire-types, and also lets you deal a decent amount of damage to specially defensive Pokemon such as Cryogonal and Lanturn.
Cool thread. Ive been using this mon a lot of my LU teams lately. Poliwrath @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb Evs: 252 Hp / 252 Def / 4 SpDef Relaxed Nature -Rest -Sleep Talk -Circle Throw -Scald Poliwrath is an interesting Pokemon to use in LU. It can effectively function as a physical wall thanks to its 90/95/90, unique typing, and a great ability in Water Absorb. These, and access to Circle Throw, allow it to counter and phaze out some prominent threats such as Entei, Feraligatr, Kabutops, Aerodactyl, Crawdaunt, and the newly fallen Bisharp. Resttalk allows Poli to act as a status absorber, who is able to rest off any status while also fully restroring its HP. Sleep Talk ensures that its not completely useless asleep and if you get lucky, can phaze out the counters that might switch in with Circle Throw. Despite having a low Base Power, Circle Throw still hits decently hard because of STAB and is incredibly useful on a spike stacking team. Scald is for tough opponents such as Dusknoir, who otherwise walls this set and is useful for netting some burns on switch-ins. Scald is used over Waterfall for the crucial burn chance and still does a decent chunk of damage. This set has proven very succesful for me in the current metagame and is definitely a cool mon to use atm.
So I just recently started playing lu again after a very long hiatus, and this set has been working well for me: * * Cinccino (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Skill Link EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Tail Slap - U-turn/Rock Blast/Bullet Seed - U-turn/Rock Blast/Bullet Seed - Encore Cincinno is so fast, and nobody ever expects an encore. It's fantastic way to force out a cress that used moonlight/sub/calm mind. From there you can spam tail slaps or U-Turn out to get switch advantage. This thing also can outspeed durant which is always nice because it can encore a hone claws or do about 50% damage with rock blast. Definitely worth a try.
Ever tried Scope Lens? It's a bit unreliable, but fun when you get 2-3 crits in the same Tail Slap. Spoiler Not for the opponent[/HIDE]
Agreeing with everything, other than the word "only". Whilst it doesn't have Super Luck, it does have 5 hits each turn (or 0 if it misses), which does make you crit quite a lot. Oh, and a set from myself. Introducing, SCRAPPY MILTANK! Miltank (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Scrappy EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Heal Bell - Milk Drink - Body Slam - Stealth Rock Woa, this thing is good. Many people believe that Miltank has two useful abilities, but with Ghost types being everywhere in this tier, this is one amazing Pokémon to use. Yes, the least used ability doesn't give you an immunity or two resistances (which no normal types have (Snorlax isn't in LU)). However, when you can Paralyse most, if not all the opposing team, restore any lost HP and heal status from not just you but also the rest of your own team, you being to think why this isn't used more in LU. It can also set Hazards up reliably. Makes a great lead, as it rarely dies even after switching in and out a few times and can leave huge holes in the opposing team. It works well in conjunction with slower, powerful attackers such as Nidoqueen and Entei.
If you're going for hax on Cinccino, I've heard fun things about King's Rock too. I've used Scope Lens myself on the guy, but that was more a personal vendetta against Life Orb than anything else.
Cinccino (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Skill Link EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Tail Slap - Bullet Seed - Rock Blast - U-turn Adamant Band Cincinno was a personal favorite of mine, and a key momentum gainer and baiter in helping me reach #1 multiple times. It has a chance to OHKO certain Entei spreads with just Tail Slap, 2HKOs almost everything that isn't a steel type or Tangrowth/Cresselia, and outspeeds base 100's. It 2HKOs Weezing!!! The fact that Cincinno has base 115 speed is enough to discourage people to try to use things like Galvantula and stuff to kill it, cause most are Jolly. It also forces an ass ton of switches, which makes U Turn an amazing move on it, coming off of 460+ attack. The best part is if you predict a Subsitute on a set up sweeper, you can come in and multi hit that bitch for a kill. Skill Link OPPPPPPPPP.
Bisharp (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Defiant EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Sucker Punch - Pursuit - Iron Head - Low Sweep / Brick Break This guy is a good hard hitter. Worked exceptionally well in Cresselia metagame but, still excels. There isn't much explanation but, it can trap things like: Slowking, Golurk (sometimes), and Choiced Locked Pokemon with Pursuot while still dealing big damage with its three other attacks. I like this rather than a standard (sub) SD set as it fits into my team and I think a lot of people can utilise it! (Trap + Hazards + Offensive Synergy + Late Game Sweeper = Formula to winning!)
Hey guys, I've been trying out a bit of LU recently and here's a new set I made: Hitmonlee (M) @ Fight Gem Trait: Reckless EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Foresight - Hi Jump Kick - Rapid Spin - Sucker Punch/Mach Punch I don't know why no one uses Hitmonlee as a Foresight Rapid Spinner. It OHKOs almost all the spinblockers including Bulky Rotom using HJK. Here is a Calc against "standard Smogon Dusknoir" Spoiler 252Atk Fight Gem Reckless Hitmonlee (+Atk) Hi Jump Kick vs 252HP/104Def Leftovers Dusknoir (+Def): 87% - 103% (256 - 303 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 19% chance to OHKO.[/HIDE] Taken from Smogon's Hitmonlee Analaysis: "As far as actual counters go, bulky Ghost-types such as Dusknoir and Spiritomb are the best options; all of them take little damage from Stone Edge, and can cripple Hitmonlee with Will-O-Wisp." Good luck switching those in! It works miraculously when you need to force a spin for teams that are very weak to hazards, in the same way as Kabutops, but has the added bonus of beating Rotom. Mach punch can be used for a pseudo-band (bluff the unburden?) and Sucker punch is for offensive rotoms who try to Volt Switch away. Spoiler 252Atk Reckless Hitmonlee (+Atk) Sucker Punch vs 4HP/0Def Leftovers Levitate Rotom (Neutral): 93% - 109% (226 - 266 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 60% chance to OHKO.[/HIDE] Try it out for your LU spinner and tell me what you think!
wtf kind of EVs is that on dusknoir? but yeah cool set for Hitmonlee, Sub/Toxic/HJK/Spin is also a cool set. and i wonder how many people have tried the Endure/Reversal set? that really wrecks a lot of people. Hitmonlee is one of my favourite LU pokemon atm, it can do so much but i especially like it for screwing with offense.
Scyther (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Technician EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 216 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Roost - U-turn - Aerial Ace - Swords Dance "wtf is that speed for Dasd" "idfk get off my ass" Sets up on Sandslash without Toxic, momentum is nice, is generally a pretty cool guy. Definitely want to outspeed base 95s (at least on my team, Idk about you kids). Oh yeah, and if you know me there are like 2 things that I'm obsessed with in Pokemon: 1. SD U-Turn 2. Choiced Baton Pass Idk why, they're just beautiful to me.
Lilligant (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Own Tempo EVs: 32 HP / 224 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Sleep Powder - Quiver Dance - Petal Dance I stole this from MS or Rok or someone. Switch in. Sleep Powder their sleep fodder. Fine. Sub up on their Twave. QDQDQDQDQDQDQD Petal Dance. Win.
Tornadus (M) @ Flying Gem Trait: Prankster EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Acrobatics - Tailwind - U-Turn - Superpower So I don't really ladder as much as I'd like to nowadays, but when I get a chance to I'm usually running this set because it's awesome. Tailwind is a really sexy utility for heavy offense teams, and with it's good Speed and monstrous Acrobatics Tornadus isn't deadweight outside it's use. Basically the idea behind it is that it can just smash stuff with Acrobatics, U-Turn out on predicted Rock / Steel-types (unless they're frail or whatever, then Superpower can just smash it), and late-game (or just when torn is becoming dead weight / about to die off) it just sets up a Tailwind and a partner can burn through the remaining team. Best used with hard-hitting Fighting- and Ground-types such as Gallade and Nidoqueen since they make great recipients of U-Turn momentum, smash most Acrobatics resists, and are monsters under Tailwind, but I guess it's up to the user.
Roselia (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk) - Spikes - Giga Drain - Sludge Bomb - Rest Despite being NU, I personally find Roselia to be one of the better defensive spikers in LU (I think it's second only to Qwil). With Eviolite, its defenses reach sizable levels. Roselia can serve as a nice special wall, taking repeated onslaughts from the likes of things like Sceptile, Galvantula, and Omastar (I'm sure it survives a boosted Ice beam, iirc!). That said, its big selling point is, of course, Spikes, and with its special bulk and decent resistances, it can reliably do this job. And Natural Cure allows it to shrug off status every time it switches out, and also gives it the ability to use Rest effectively, as upon switching, it literally is fully healed. Base 100 Special Attack is nice too, and it can deal decent chunks of damage with STAB Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb, the former being a semi-reliable form of recovery. Overall, I find Roselia to be a pretty awesome spiker, and better than Ferroseed (Which is shit.)
Another cool Bisharp set: Check (Bisharp) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Defiant EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Night Slash - Swords Dance - Sucker Punch - Brick Break Mindgames, son. I'm rather fond of this set; I have good memories of using it in UU back when Bisharp was still floating up there. While this Bisharp set lacks some of the sweeping capabilities of the standard Sub + SD variant, it more than makes up for it with its versatility, coverage, and surprising bulk. The main feature here is Night Slash, which is a move very few people expect on Bisharp. With proper prediction, it can catch an opponent trying to sub, switch, or otherwise not attack, and force him or her into a deadly guessing game. And even if you use Night Slash when you should've Sucker Punched, those 252 HP EVs more often than not let you tank the hit (Manectric's Flamethrower, for example) and retaliate. It's pretty hard to use correctly, but incredibly fun nonetheless.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before at all, but one of the sets I got from The Real Elmo is: Sigilyph @ Life Orb Trait:Magic Guard EVs: 252 sp.att/252 speed/4HP or defense or sp.def (it matters not) Timid (+Speed, -Attack) -Air Slash -Hidden Power Ground -Calm Mind -Roost This set absolutely has the power to sweep teams at +1 CM. Air Slash and Hidden Power Ground has a wide range of coverage to deal damage. HP Ground is mainly for aggron after rocks, but hits a fair amount of fire, electric, and steel types that would other wise hit it hard if they think they are faster (looking at you FB entei) or wall it. Air Slash provides nice STAB coverage support hitting a variety of pokemon for neutral damage, with a chance to flinch, and 2HKO a fair amount of the tier. CM allows for it to set up on stall defensive pokemon or proceed to sweep after something weak to rocks switches in for easy KOs. Roost is for a chance to recover off damage done on a defensive based pokemon or a special pokemon that you can live attacks after setting up a CM. Air Slash, Roost, and HP Ground could be interchanged for something it got from BW2 such as Heat Wave, STAB psychic/psyshock, and Ice Beam/Air Slash for coverage. However, I think this is the set I trust most to win games with or take out a dangerous pokemon because they underestimate him. Sigilyph is truly an underrated pokemon in the LU tier.
Time to revive this. Dusclops (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Relaxed Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Trick Room - Will-O-Wisp - Seismic Toss - Pain Split Trick Room is already an incredible strategy in LU, and Dusclops does an incredible job at setting up the move. His bulk is beyond amazing while he walls Escavalier, a common threat to Trick Room teams. He can stall defensive Pokemon such as Steelix and Slowking, which makes life easier for Trick Room abusers that will struggle with SteelKing cores that stall out the timer of Trick Room. Will-O-Wisp+Seismic Toss is annoying and wears down many Pokemon, while Dusclops can keep HP up with Pain Split. He spinblocks too, keeping SR up. Overall an incredible set on TR teams. Scolipede (M) @ Salac Berry Trait: Swarm EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Substitute - Swords Dance - Megahorn - Aqua Tail SubSalac Scolipede is incredible, especially in a metagame with Meloetta dominating. Scolipede can grab a Swords Dance boost to be very powerful, while he can Substitute to protect himself from status. He can also spam it so that Salac Berry and Swarm both activate, making him an extremely powerful Pokemon. He has great coverage in Megahorn and Aqua Tail, making him hard to wall, only by Poliwrath and to an extent Dusclops. He beats a lot with his awesome Speed, so he wrecks whole teams. Overall a really dangerous an underrated threat.
Natu (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Magic Bounce EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe Impish Nature - Reflect - Thunder Wave/Trick Room/Haze - U-Turn/Night Shade - Roost Wonderful supporter for all kinds of teams that don't want a sub-par spinner clogging up their team. Also exceptionally cute.
(Scolipede) (M) @ Salac Berry Trait: Swarm EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Substitute - Megahorn - Aqua Tail This thing... Oh my god <3
Here's a little something I've been using of late: Poliwrath (M) @ Choice Specs Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Vacuum Wave - Ice Beam - Hydro Pump - Focus Blast Poliwrath's special attack stat is pretty lacklustre but its two high powered STAB moves make up for that. Ice Beam nails Tangrowth (normally a safe-switch in to standard Poliwrath) and Vacuum Wave is alright for finishing off weakened foes. I'll be honest and admit that surprise factor is it's only real selling point and the low accuracy of its main attacks can be an issue but it's still pretty fun to use. Also- it's a special attacker that can 2HKO Munchlax w/o any prior damage (I know, Munchlax sucks) and not many other Pokemon in LU can do that.
Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Big Pecks EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef | 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) | Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Roost - Whirlwind - Brave Bird / Knock Off - Taunt / Toxic With resistances to Ghost, Dark and Grass, and immune to Psychic and Ground, Mandibuzz is a beefy bird with great 110/105/95 defenses. It phases, it recovers HP, it has a Taunt with a nice 80 Speed for a wall and really only fears Ice Electric and Rock. Given Toxic, it can stall out unprepared teams by itself, and it can even U-Turn out to give momentum to your team. KACAW is underrated and I love it.
Galvantula @ Leftovers Trait: Compoundeyes EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Thunder - Bug Buzz - Substitute - Disable SubDisable Galvantula. Not my set but it's really unique nonetheless. Galvantula forces so many switches and can abuse this with Substitute. Disable helps to force out Choiced Krookodile, so you can stay behind a Sub. Not much else to say. Very lethal set against unprepared teams, I'll give you that.
