I myself started out in Generation 2, being gifted Pokemon Gold on a random Christmas morning with a teal colored Gameboy Colour. [ Buffing past time story. ] Upon inserting the cartridge and taking my first leap into the Pokemon Games, I was left with serious confusion with unfamiliar and familiar Pokemon I had[n't] seen on the show. Then sometime later, they aired Johto which purified my confusion status.
I started in Gen3 with Sapphire when I was 9 or so, I loved that gen. That's how I kinda started Loving Pokemon, before then it was all murky.
I started at late Gen 3 when Emerald first came out. Then I stopped when I got bored of HGSS and started again after B/W came out.
I started off with 1st gen, charmander being my first with pokemon red. Got that game when I was 8, I'm an oldbutt. I still own all of my pokemon games Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Diamond, Soul Silver, and White.
I'm actually really surprised about how little people had 5 and were just newfags. Honestly, I was like 5 when I was introduced to Pokemon on my brother game oy color. Never completely got into pokemon till I got hardcore watching the anime and when 2 came out
gen 1! started at the age of 6 on blue with a squirtle and he's been my favourite starter ever since haha
Actually, I just remembered that I started in Gen 1, not Gen 3. There was an airplane trip where you could play old Gameboy games. I played Yellow, it sucked, went to Silver, it was boss. I also got hooked on Kirby there.
Started playing Stadium when I was like three then I got Yellow for my 4th birthday. For some reason I soloed Yellow with Pidgeot even though I had Nidoking (my favorite at the time).
gen 4. cuz the fully evolved pokes (i.e. torterra, infernape and empoleon) could hit the type they were weak to with their secondary STAB. so normally torterra would be weak to infernape, but he can hit infernape for SE with his STAB ground attacks.
Jeez. Sadly mine was only Gen 4 :c Poor me. ._. But I still enjoy playing Pokemon Red ^^ (suprisingly, my friend gave me a copy of Red and Silver he doesnt use :D)
i actually started playing gen 3 when i was really little but since i couldn't quite get it gen 1 was my true start
My dad got me and my lil brother each a Pokémon Blue when they came out (we were 6 and 3). I remember I had to read the text for my lil bro cuz he was too little. xD Soooo... yeah. But it REALLY started with Gen. 2. I loved that Generation. I love playing the songs from it on my guitar!
I started Gen 5 on PO o_O, so still noob. i did find ruby and gold catridge roms online though and played it with an emulator later lols.
Started playing the pokemon games by getting a red version o.o Competitive wise I simple got into playing NB, so basically Advance.
I'm a gen 1 person. Main game-wise, Yellow has the best graphics (everything but back sprites, anyway) even to this day. Everything past gen 2 was chibified too much, while gen 2 had a certain something that I didn't quite like. I never figured out what it was.
I started in gen 1 when i was like 6 but havent went hard in pokemon till gen 4 sparked hence some googling finding shobby, then PO :)
Started with Yellow (4eva). However I had a crappy GBA and kept having problems with it. Crashed so many times >.> Until I got an e******* and played that shit through. Totally owned everything ever with Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Nidoking, Kadabra and Graveler. And a Fearow and Butterfree for some minor stuff cuz why not. Butterfree 2 stronf
The first and only cartridge games I ever played were the Gen 3 games. I didn't play either of the Gen 1 remakes, but I did play all of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Multiple times. I'm surprised at the number of people who started in Gen 1; sometimes it seems like everyone here is 13 years old (not because they're immature, but because they say they're 13). I started playing competitively in Gen 4 the week Salamence was banned, although I stayed on PokeLab through December of last year. WHAT THE SHIT?! Ziah, you're too good.
Gen1, Gen2, when 3rd gen came out decided it'd gone downhill, vowed to give up pokemon forever. Bought Sapphire, ruby and another advance system, continued to gen 4 and 5, competitive battler for a couple months. You don't choose pokemon; it chooses you and doesn't let go.
I started playing the Pokemon games in Generation 4, although I was involved in the Trading Card Game before then.
Started in gen two, around the time it came out...:3 and started with The cute little Fire rodent. Physical Cartridges I own Red/Blue/Yellow Gold/Silver/Crystal FireRed/LeafGreen Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald Diamond/Peral/Platinum Heartgold Black and various side games..
