Played Red & Blue when they first came out. Found Netbattle Supremacy during Ruby & Sapphire, thought it was just what Wifi would be now (online battles). Realised during Diamond & Pearl that Pokemon was a competitive game. To boot, D/P is my favourite metagame. Scizor and the Appliances took over too much in Platinum imo.
@Groshi Technically that's my first competitive gen. :3 I did a little 4th gen, but it was very very little. Not bothering to vote, though.
What gen was pokemon trading card game? That was my very first pokemon game =) but fire red was my first pokemon game other the TCG. When I realsied there was games before fr/lg I just had to get them and now I own every single pokemon game other then the pinball ones and those other bad ones. But my fa ourite game was Emerald because of the battle frontier and it was so exciting to play but I can't remember if there was contest in it but I know I loved playing R/S because of the contests. I love playing D/P/P. Because the contests aswell and when I found out there was no contests in HG/SS I was disapointed but I loved the pokeathlon in it. B/W were disapointing since it doesn't have contests or the battle frontier my two favourite ideas about the pokemon games.
I got gen 1 and gen 2 at the same time for christmas, but I answered gen 1. I didn't start competitively battling (or even knowing wtf ev's were) until gen 4 though.
My first game was Pokémon Yellow, so I began with the first generation. But I think the second one already existed back then.
Try not to double post, there is an edit button on the bar below your post. Anyways, FireRed counts as third generation (I think).
My first game was ruby. Then i played sapphire and then ruby and then sapphire again. It took some time for me to realise that the yellow and crystal games in that same folder were actually good pokemon games.(and yes i played them on an emulator since i dont have a DS or a GBA)
Well i remember when i first started the games and i didnt even pay attention to stats ande half of the typings, i just pressed some random thing and won my way through the elite 4 O.o
I started with gen 1 something like 14 years ago! I have played all the games, and I can say proudly that pkmn are the passion of my life!
Red came out when I was 7 so gen 1. Crystal was the best in the series though with only it's remakes coming remotely close in my opinion. The torn world was also amazing but that was only a part of Platinum.
Red was my first one. I still remember my Blastoise that I nicknamed after myself and levelled to 100. I have not nicknamed any of my Pokemon after that >.>
gen 3 for sure. i loved swampert cos in all fairness, it is rape. like the gen3 version of garchomp (but slower). blaze was the epitome of coolness. i mean, this guy has fire knuckles and fire kicks. cant really say much about that. sceptile was sexy. i have gotten turned on by his leaf-arms several times. and he could simply go mixed and pwn. i completed the game with a solo-run from all of them.
I feel sad for the players who started second gen since they didn't experience the OMGWTF THIS IS AWESOME moment when the fisherman tells you that you have taken your first step into Kanto. I remember it like it was yesterday, my first reaction being, they gave the red version region a name?!?! Then it hits you that there are 16! badges you can obtain. Talking to that fisherman might have been the happiest moment of my childhood. lulz
Gen 1. Been playing forever. I enjoyed gen 2 the most in terms of cartridge play and I enjoy gen 3 the most by far for competitive battling. Of course, the older you go the more nostalgia and of course nothing can replace the feeling of gen 1 when it was genuinely new and exciting and the metagame was not yet developed and the same can be said for gen 2. Gen 1 is a classic despite being a HORRIBLE and glitch ridden game, but hey, the same can be said for Final Fantasy 7. Pokemon sure has evolved a lot over the years (no awful pun intended) and I can truly appreciate that when I go back and play gen 1 (yes I still somehow have working games) and then play gen 5. A lot has changed.
Pokemon Sapphire was the first generation I owned, but I have played Generation 1 and 2 when my friends brought them to school years before Sapphire came out.
Um, I started with Pokemon Yellow... (Pikachu, yay!) And then I came back to pokemon by playin' Diamond, followed with Soul Silver, and then White :3
Lol i started pokemon at the same time getting a game boy for christmas, but my folks bought me some crappy squrril game instead. i dint own a pokemon game until 2nd gen my aunt bought me silver. been hooked since then!
I started playing pokemon when I was 4 and I got Pokemon Gold! It was the funnest game ever so I went to the store and bought Blue 2 years later I find out Red is before Gold but I wasn't dissapointed that I played it in the wrong order.
I Started Playing Pokemon on Pokemon Online Gen2,although all of them were on emulator:P(kinda poor:X)
Gen2 because it was so difficult choosing between those 3 starters Gen1 - squirtle Gen3 - mudkip Gen4 - piplup Gen5 - oshawott
First was Gen1 and I've played'em all, gen1-3 were on emulator though. Played competetive in NetBattle.)
