How to Make Tables Using the Text Editor This is a guide that shows how to make tables using the rich text editor. If my screenshots don’t look familiar to you, it may be because I’m using the PO Modern Dark theme. You can adjust the theme in the Style box found here in your account preferences. Spoiler: Creating a Table To create a table, go to the Table menu, click Insert Table, and hover the mouse over the grid until you see the dimensions that you want your table to be. Spoiler: Entering Information into the Table When you first create the table, it will be very tiny because it autofits to contents, and it is empty. You can click in one of the cells to start typing information, and you can navigate from cell to cell using the arrow keys. To clarify, a cell is the box that is created where a column and a row intersect. Columns run up and down, so in the picture below, Grass, Bulbasaur, Chikorita and Treecko would all be in a column. Rows run left and right, so in the picture below, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle would all be in a row. Spoiler: The Table Toolbar Below the table is the table toolbar. The buttons from left to right are as follows: Table Properties Delete Table Insert Row Above Insert Row Below Delete Row Insert Column Before Insert Column After Delete Colunm As can be seen in the picture below, I used the Insert Row Before button to add a new row, and I filled it in with Generation information. Spoiler: Manipulating Text in the Table Text within the table can still be manipulated the same way that it can normally be manipulated. Here I changed the alignment of each cell to Center by clicking in the cell and clicking the Center button. Center Button: Text color can be changed by clicking on the A button and choosing a color. Text size can be changed by clicking the button that looks like the letter T and choosing a size. Spoiler: Table properties The table properties button is the first button on the table toolbar. When it is clicked, the following dialog box appears. Clicking the Caption check box allows you to insert a title for your table. The Width and Height boxes allow you to enter dimensions for the size of your table. Cell spacing adds more space around the cells. Cell padding increases the area of each cell. The Border box allows you to enter the thickness that the border will be. Alignment allows you to adjust how the table will be aligned in the post. There are a few more things that you can do if you click the Advanced tab in the Table properties box. Style is an alternate way that you can format the table. Border color and Background color allow you to choose a color for the border or background, respectively. You can choose the color by using the color box as shown below, or you can enter the hex values directly. This is what the table looks like in a post. I ended up making the background color #1f4166 so that it would show up better on other themes.
