Community Makes a Theme I am happy to announce the first PO Community Makes a Theme project in, like, 2 years! In this thread we're calling on you, the Mafia playerbase, to contribute to the creation of a theme to be played on the main server. No coding experience is necessary! To participate, simply post in this thread, according to the rules outlined below. Rules: You may only submit one role every 24 hours. This is to let as many people participate as possible. Balance is not going to be the main goal, but be reasonable and don't make your role too effective without having reasonable drawbacks. Consider what roles already have been added. If your role is approved, it will be added to the theme, along with any other sides or attributes it brings. Roles will be approved based on their creativity, how well they mesh with existing characters, whether they fit the theme well, and overall contribution to a theme's playability. We will look at the suggestion's popularity when considering whether to approve it or not, so remember to like posts that you want to see added. The project will continue until we have around 20~35 roles, depending on how the roster looks. You may be asked to write the help text for your submitted roles once the theme is completed. Spawn will be decided once the whole roles roster has been completed. However, we will likely use spawnpacks to make sure that every role can spawn within a reasonable number of players. Format: Spoiler Role: Put your role name here. Side: The side the role is with. If you are creating a new side, add a brief description of what this side is about. Abilities: What special powers this role has (night actions, day actions, vote, etc). Be creative, but don't ask for things which are impossibly complicated or hard to code or it won't get added. Interactions*: If you are adding a role which interacts with an existing approved role, you can add that change here. For example, if you wanted your newly added role to convert another role on death, you can add that here. * You can retroactively add Interactions for one of your approved roles so that they can interact with roles that had been approved since your role was approved. This requires making a separate post, and it does count as your post for the day (you cannot post for another 24 hours after that). The theme for this project will be: PO Mafia Memes. Inside jokes might be funny for some, but if the only 2 people will get the joke it won't be added. Memes about specific people will be removed if they do not agree to be a part of it. If targeted by any non-kill actions, converts into Enraged Crobutt, which has a vote of 3 and a piercing kill with a 1 night cooldown. Role: Kland Side: Classic Memes Abilities:+99/-99 vote of the players choice. Has a day command /wrath which can be used every 3 days that summons kland's wrath smiting the sinner. /inspect during the night. Evades a day kill once and has 1 /protect Role: Mareep Side: Other Channel Meme Invasion Ability: Has a nightkill and converts the user into the role it just killed. Always retains the ability to night kill and would continue to change as it killed (Ex: Mareep kills Villager -> becomes Villager with a night kill -> Kill Inspector -> becomes Inspector with Night kill -> Kills Bodyguard -> becomes Bodyguard with a Night kill -> and so on.). It would change sides as it kills (So killing a Villager puts it on the Village side. If it kills a Mafia next night it becomes Mafia sided). Role: Exploud Side: Salty Staff Abilities: Can /mute one person during the night (distract) and shared nightkill. Role: Fish (alernatively <>< or <o)))))>) Side: Fresh Memes Abilities: Villager Interactions*: Dies when targeted by a kill action Role: Mayor Side: Fresh Memes Abilities: +3 votes Interactions*: When Mayor dies, the message "We are barbarians without our mayor" is broadcast. Then all Villagers (Fish/<></<o)))))>) convert into Barbarians. The Barbarians have a shared kill, but the kills don't broadcast to other barbarians and they can target anyone. The last person to send a kill decides the kill.

Role: Joyverse (Hooman) Side: Literal Mafia Gods Abilities: Distract (Joyverse brings out a mix of dank and unfunny memes and confuses his target). if a kill is attempted on him, he converts to a Lagging Laser Cannon Joyverse that gets a piercing random (yup lol) kill every other day and has a vote of -1. Interactions: If he dies, he commits suicide and screams "I DID IT FOR HARAMBE!" and he goes boom and blasts someone else like a Samsung S7 would! Role: Chinchous Side: ??? (This role is sided with a random side between One True God, Literal Mafia Gods, Salty Staff. Might add sides to this later.) Abilities: Player's role is revealed to everyone on startup, but not side. Revealing Daykill. Because no one knows who update Chinchous.
Role: AO Side: Literal Mafia Gods Abilities: haxes the votes, making your vote count as 3. avoids 1 kill but dies if inspected by being exposed as bad
Role:DracoNub Side:lovable bastard from village Abilities: 25% hax on revealing random role including self (dumbass) to everyone during standby phase. Vote count varies from 0-2 due to inability to make up mind. Edit: i should have worded this better. Sided with village, can day expose a random role including possible self.

What's the purpose of this role, is it supposed to be village sided? Why not add it to a side that's shaping up to be the village. What do you mean by "25% hax on revealing random role" by the way? In general, adding new sides means your role is less likely to be approved. Adding to an established side is more likely to be supported.

Role: /roles mafia Side: Solo Abilities: Has a /probe command usable once every night. Is given 3~5 roles (depending on game size) to probe. Wins alone if successfully probes them all. Spoiler: Flavour Player A: What's role X does? Player B: Use /roles mafia:name Player A: Holy Shit, I only typed /roles mafia, my PO froze for a few seconds! Player B: Lol, good luck finding the role you want now. P.S.: Good luck coding that.
This is more time consuming and lengthy than difficult. You'd just need to determine what happens if the probe target dies before you can probe. Would be a lot easier with some sort of pseudo-code (is this the right term?) Transport had something similar with one of the roles where you could choose an upgrade in any order to add to your abilities. You'd just change the upgrading abilities to flagging the user that they've completed a probe successfully. When you have 3~5 flags on your character then you win. Luckily for Transport we only needed 15 different roles because the upgrades were independent of game size.
Role: Miki Sayaka Side: Fired/Salty Staff Abilities: Can /Break (Poison) up to two people during the night which has a 50% of ignoring BG. Can't be haxed. Has a random vote of 5 or -5 every day. EDIT: Spoiler: Optional Role text Since Fate Testarossa fired you for always breaking Mafia and even making fun of you, you've decided that you've had enough! You can /Break (Poison) two people every night to slowly cripple them into nothing. Even though you've haxed mafia to stop you from hax, you've broken your vote and is random between 5 or -5. Let's hope RNG is on your side...

Counters nightkills and daykills 2.total vote count on role becomes 0 3. revives self on the third day after being killed/lynched can convert one role to team side during day but converted role loses all special abilities.
Role: drifloon Side: the Salty Staff Abilities: puts 2 people against each other in a battle, (not an actual battle, just script). One person loses & their role ofc revealed, the other's role is not revealed.
Role: #Trivia Side: non shitty side channels Abilities: Starts out with a vote of 0 and is unaware of partners. Can /review two users (not including self) during the night to learn their respective sides; if the two users reviewed during the same night happen to be on the same side, vote increases by +1. Max vote of 5.

Approved, with side as Salty Staff because this sounds like a Disgruntled Soldier got hit with the wrong attack and now complains during the night. Maybe nightkill > daykill though, see your next suggested role for why. I'd rather make the side something more applicable to more roles. How about "Fresh Memes?" This means it does not preclude the possibility of a Crobat (or older) role. Furthermore, "Fresh Memes" can be applied to a lot more roles which have been submitted so far, and is more likely to function as a village. Approved. This could work. A PL that turns into an uncontrolled Samurai if killed. Before Lagging LC, what would you name the initial role? Idk if Joyverse is a meme. Would approve if flavor is changed/explained better. I would like to put this in a separate side "Classic Memes" if you don't mind. This is to prevent too many fractured sides with only one or two roles in them. Otherwise, approved. The role is good, but is AO a mafia meme? I don't get it. Same as Joyverse with regards to flavoring. Meme =/= self-insertion. (We might have a separate theme for the latter at this point.) I still don't know what the abilities are supposed to be and the flavor doesn't make sense to me either, so not approving. Is #mafia a meme except when advertising in #sarfai? Otherwise it's a cool idea for a role, but should probably be village sided. Not approving yet, but might look at it later. Why not Insanity? It's a much better meme. I also don't see the connection between the role and the ability here, so I think you can be more creative. An interesting idea for a role. Does it get two kills if it kills a role that already has a kill? Approve. Do you mean OSV? What's the meme here? I'm not sure how this would interact with other things going on. If the probe targets are removed by some other means, does it win? I do like that it discourages claiming, but it would probably be more functional in a more balanced theme with fewer kills. The coding isn't hard (random spawn with some flagged roles and using the unique feature), so if there was a way to prevent it from just winning to xfire or random kills I'd approve it. ??? This should have something to eliminate other players since it is a mafia sided role. I will give it shared nightkill with Fired Espeon and approve. You could alternatively make it take away the target's vote (like an actual mute). I like the idea of an RNG role, but I think it can be much improved over this. Especially since this looks harder to code than a simple RNG role should be. Very hard to code. Why is Drifloon in mafia again? Wow, that's a pretty neat role. Again, this should be village sided though. And also, why is #Trivia in #Mafia? Why is #Trivia a meme? Okay role, but I think it could be improved a bit. How is a mafia role supposed to win with a 4% chance to remove people? It should share night kill at least. I think you could also do more with its expose. What is this point of this role? It can't target its only enemies? I get that's the joke, but how is this supposed to be a good role if it literally only hurts itself? People die when they are killed? This and the mayor are probably fine. No one has submitted a better meme for villager so I'll approve both. Also changing them to Fresh Memes because ??? they seem pretty fresh to me.
Change Joyverse to Harambe. Lagging LC to Ghost Harambe. Now, Ghost Harambe says, "Harambe stills lives" before exploding. That seems great. Meme LC and Lagging LC might work as well.

Kind of a ripoff from the old memes theme (I think), but eh. Role: Town Side: Fresh Memes (Village) Abilities: Powers up (even if only a little bit) every time someone from the village dies or is lynched. Wondering if it should power up everyone sided with the village if it's lynched (again, the power up can be minor). I didn't really think that much about power ups, but I was thinking small stuff like 10% hax, 10% evasion on kills, maybe survive a lynch, gain an additional 0.1 vote or -0.1 voteshield, etc. Interactions: None and at the same time, everyone from the village.

ROLE:Hedylogos SIDE: Unlucky Mafia Players Abilities: When targeted by a kill first time,evades it and kills the perpetrator instead. When lynched d1,escapes the lynch and the person to vote him off first gets lynched instead. (If this is approved n we do get more than one role,the last person remaining gets a vote of 3 for remaining period) P.S. Hurricane should be added to this.
Could as well rename it to "Self-insert". Dying N1 three or four times is not what I'd call a meme. Here, I will try making a role that actually fits the desired context: Role: Theme2 Side: Themes (how did no one suggest a themes-related side before?) Flavour: Just played a theme that you like, but now you need to wait for 5 games to start that theme again? Your problem is entirely solved with this! Just make another version of the theme with a few different roles, call it Something2 and there! You can now play twice in a row! Abilities: It's a Jack-of-All-Trades (can inspect, kill, distract, protect and poison once per game). It also has a /duplicate ability, which adds one more charge to one of its commands if it targets a role with a matching command (example: If using /duplicate on a BG, it receives a new charge for its own /protect). To make it cooler, make the name change to Theme3, Theme4 and Theme5 after it successfully duplicates a target. Gets an upgrade when it becomes Theme5 (ideas: Extra vote, able to use any command twice per turn or upgrade the basic commands to something like Protect->Protect+Safeguard). Interactions*: It's an interesting role to be in a mafia side since it gets to choose between killing a PR or keeping it alive for a little longer to draw more charges.
Approve Theme2 and Town, although I will come back to ask about the order of the acquisition for abilities to both of you.
Role: Classic Theme Side: Themes Flavour: Ah for Flock's sake, can people stop ruining perfectly good classic themes? I have no idea how this theme works anymore! What's worse, someone will update you again every day, so you will have a random set of abilities every night. Abilities: Abilities get updated (change) every night at random. Possible forms are Kill + Inspect + -2 Votes, 2x Distract + 3 Votes, 0 vote + Poison + -3 Voteshield, Avoid nightkills + Kill + Daykill (30% reveal) + +1 voteshield. Interactions: Its actions aren't shared with Theme2.
This is going really far back and pretty obscure, but if you need a role like this in the theme... Role: Ew Side: Fresh Memes? Village? Conspirator? Abilities: Inspector. Can /ew to claim and broadcast to everyone that they are the Inspector. Alternatively, they could be a Pen-type role with expose with a broadcasting command. Spoiler: Origin Story One time we were playing SSBB and Lucas didn't claim. Of course, they died without doing anything. When we asked them why they didn't claim, they said that they did. The only thing they said the entire game was "ew" during Night 1
