    Hi everyone!

I'm new here, so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I used to play Pokémon as a child. I played Red, Yellow, Blue, Silver, Crystal and Sapphire. For various reasons I didn't play past third generation, probably because of money and I was playing other games. I'd like to get back into the series, and pick up where I left off. I have a few questions about which games to buy, and I'm hoping you guys can help me. :)

So, with regards to fourth generation, is Platinum to Diamond and Pearl the same as what Crystal was to Gold and Silver?

As for Black/White and Black 2/White 2, would it suffice to just buy one of the 2 versions, or are there significant differences that mean you have to buy one of both?

I would also like some advice as to which to buy in terms of Black and White, and X and Y. Just general advice as to which is better.

Sorry this is such a lengthy post and that I have so many questions. I hope you guys can help! Thanks in advance. :)

Yeah, you're basically right about Platinum. A much larger end-game, both legendaries, and overall much more features.

I'd just get one or both of the 2 versions. I only got B/W, but I'd imagine B2/W2 are kind of like the same thing but with slightly more stuff to do.

Just decide on which legendary you like better. Some of the areas' features are different, but I think that really depends on personal preference.

There'sactually quite a significant difference between BW1 and BW2, imo. Several different gym leaders, new towns, much more developed storyline, and different protagonists. The only thing that really stayed the same is the overall concept, and BW1 has N as a main character while he's only a background obscurity in BW2. Seeing as he's a brilliant character (imo), it's a tough decision. My advice would be to get one of each, though BW2 are the superior games.

Hope this helps. Welcome back to Pokémon, friend.

Thanks so much for your help guys! I'll start off trying to find a reliable seller for the UK version of Platinum, and then decide what to do about Black and White.

    Cheers again! :D

I'm just in the north of England. I take it you're from Scotland? The land where men wear skirts? :)

um. simply play starting with RSE. RSE has an amazing storyline imo & battle factory is 10/10.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but I have already played Sapphire and my brother had Ruby. I don't particularly want to buy Emerald as it's spending more money than I have to, and funds are low. :P I'm gonna start again with Platinum. :)
