well its been like 2 years since the last time i took pokemon seriously but ill go ahead and shoot another rmt out here. I am a primarily lower tiers player who at one time was one of the better on PO before retiring from pokemon roughly 2 years ago, I decided to make this team because well, LU is my favorite tier and i like to simply kill things. Spoiler: importable Sawk (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Mold Breaker EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Knock Off - Ice Punch - Stone Edge Flygon (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Defog - Outrage - U-turn Ampharos (F) @ Ampharosite Trait: Static EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Thunder Wave - Dragon Pulse - Thunderbolt - Focus Blast Bronzong @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Stealth Rock - Toxic - Earthquake - Iron Head Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Sheer Force EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Sludge Wave - Earth Power - Ice Beam - Focus Blast Hoopa @ Life Orb Trait: Magician EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd/ 4 Def Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Shadow Ball - Taunt - Psychic - Nasty Plot importable before the team review bc i know people just want to come steal teams. well i first wanted to start out with one of my favorite mons of the last few gens, mainly because he hits fking hard. Sawk (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Mold Breaker EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Knock Off - Ice Punch - Stone Edge this guy started off as adamant scarfed but i found it didnt necessarily outspeed things that scarfed sawk would need to outspeed and jolly scarf just doesnt have enough oomph. so i went for jolly band to outpace max speed nidoqueens, base 80s, etc. I put a band on this thing to just kill things, it one shots mega steelix, cosmic power sigilyphs, Reptar, Milotic, roserade, rotom-h, etc. it is also one of 2 mons who dont just die to sneasel. It also 2hkos alomomola, donphan, and jellicent. Flygon (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Defog - Outrage - U-turn Okay this mon has a couple of niches on this team, it is usually lead sans the opponent having sneasel, the reason being that flygons are generally either tanky defoggers that ice shard doesnt ohko, or life orb special sweepers where he outpaces anyway. scarfed flygon outpaces things like scarfed rotom, sneasel, durant, and all common scarfers in the tier. outrage sweeps aren't uncommon due to people forgetting that scarf flygon hurts from gen 5 to gen 6. he also hard checks all klefki sets. He is also one of 3 viable scarfers in the tier immune to thunderwave, the others being rotom forms. I need hazard control on this team so defog fills the 4th spot where fireblast was in the original team, fire blast hits mega steelix and bronzong both of which are already checked multiple times on this team, and earthquake doesnt hit much softer. Ampharos (F) @ Ampharosite Trait: Static EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Thunder Wave - Dragon Pulse - Thunderbolt - Focus Blast Okay this is my bulky water type killer, I chose mega ampharos because his pre mega form is still fairly bulky , does a fair amount of damage and has static to help against mons like sneasel or hitmonlee who are fairly common sweepers withing the tier, you could also run a bulkier ev spread but i primarily use him for killing alomomola, phys def milotic sets, and jellicent. Bronzong @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Stealth Rock - Toxic - Earthquake - Iron Head Okay bronzong is a low sustain wall that sets up rocks and doesnt die to birds because birds are bad. toxic to cripple sweepers who cant kill him and to help break stall a bit as this team has a bit of a weakness to stall who can work around sawk ampharos core. I sometimes run a banded set with trick over toxic and 252 hp/252atk to further screw over walls and fletchinder. Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Sheer Force EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Sludge Wave - Earth Power - Ice Beam - Focus Blast Okay lets start off by saying, i made these evs based off of a clear lack of knowledge of the metagame as i was retired for 2 years previously and I kinda just stuck with it because well, if it works why fix it? Modest because fuck you and your walls, (this team was made to break the semistall meta in LU btw), sheer force life orb just hits hard, earth power and sludge wave because STAB, ice beam because beam, thunderbolt/focusblast because i already have stealth rocks, i run failblast primarily so i dont get screwed by klefki switches into rotom-h which is a common core in the tier. all other viable offensive moves on nidoqueen are resisted by one or the other. and last but not least, an nu mon that i have no fking idea how he fell so far. Hoopa @ Life Orb Trait: Magician EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd/ 4 Def Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Shadow Ball - Taunt - Psychic - Nasty Plot Okay lets start off witht he negatives of hoopa, It has a below average base 70 speed, it is 4x weak to knockoff, that is it. This thing has a base 150 sp atk, and 2 very good STABs, timid nature because most nidoqueens only run enough speed to outpace modest base 70s, taunt to break stall further, nasty plot because a +2 unresisted hit is going to kill anything. You could run psyshock as an alternative to psychic, i have no special reason to run either as a +2 from either will kill any non resisted wall. Well guys feel free to steal and tell me what you think.
-That's a pretty cool team u got there but i have a few nitpicks i might as well share with u: timid nido is non existant due to its lack of power that modest needs to 2hko things, as u described for your nido, that's why i recommend switching sawk to addy banded, it gets the speed it needs to outspeed key things and thats all. -Also mold breaker is useless in this set, i recommend changing that to sturdy, that way it can work as a nice lead, ohkoing/2hkoing hazard leads and getting another free kill. -The major issue is, for a rmt that cites sneasel so much, u have an awful lot of weakness to it, flygon, zong, amph, nidoqueen and obviously hoopa. Sawk also isnt really a switch in since it either cant take 2 crashes or loses utility if band is knocked off. I'm aware that amph and zong arent ohkoed, but that doesnt make them more of a shaky check. Icicle crash is spammable vs u and isnt a contact move that would let u switch in amph and potentially static-ing. -My next point is something ppl dont usually take into account cuz it doesnt have much counterplay, which is trapping. In this case, dugtrio. I'm not really a fan of teams that rely on certain trappable mons as only checks to many things, for example ur only way of beating knock of alomomola in this team is by ampharos or bronzong, both susceptible from trapping by duggy and spiritomb respectively. Having 1 twave mon and a scarf flygon doesnt really fix the speed problem of ur team, and not having any knock off switchin severely makes ur team susceptible to pokemon like absol and drapion, and frankly im surprised u didnt choose voltturn with amph/flygon (flygon which attracts mola for u) alongisde a wall breaker like sawk, it just makes more sense to me that way, but idk. -On another note, nidoqueen is getting suspected but it's not really relevant just yet. my recommendations rn arent the best but i wanna suggest to u some mons that would mitigate some of ur weaknesses, for example adding a scarf boar or some other variant like ebelt/life orb to power through things while not being easily revenged by duggy, or adding an uxie over bronzong since uxie can grab u more momentum while having high speed with bulk, and can give u twave or yawn support with uturn and colbur, it also makes u less weak to fighting mons. -Then ill recommend changing ampharos to agility because of the lack of speed on ur team, other options for better speed control are sub salac hoopa over taunt, or even just giving it focusblast so sneasel isnt a free ass switch everytime. hope i helped
thanks geng, my only problem with adamant bandsawk is i now lose to tyrantrum as if im not mistaken jolly lifeorb and jollyband are the common sets for it, that said I am still learning the meta, will change moldbreaker to sturdy as the only sturdy mons ive been seeing is the rare golem and the occasional non mega steelix. i have been testing the team out with physically defensive resttalk ampharos with voltswitch and dragon pulse and it works fairly well but then i lose the necessary bonking of the bulky water types, and i dont wanna run agility ampharos because it still wouldnt outpace sneasel at +2 and it loses a lot o its necessary bulk that makes it a somewhat soft check to sneasel if i can predict the switch or revenge it. I know about the nidoqueen suspect but i dont think its going to be banned fromt he tier as its a solid but not gamebreaking mon that doesnt overcentralize and is limited to very few sets all but 2 of which are niche sets. a well played dugtrio definitely does kill what this team likes to do as it completely shuts down 1/2 of the team and i always tend to build teams into my strength which is prediction. I put in the suggestion that you could swap ampharos out for a mon like virizion for this reason, however if you did that you would need to change bronzong to mega steelix which would lessen the impact sneasel has on your team but give you back the ground weakness which is one of the things i like bronzong for, however you would fix your switchin problem i would reccomend if youre going to do that you run Spoiler: suggestions Virizion @ Life Orb Trait: Justified EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd IVs: 30 HP / 30 Def Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Giga Drain - Focus Blast - Hidden Power [Ice] - Calm Mind and Spoiler: steelix Steelix (M) @ Steelixite Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def IVs: 0 Spd Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd) - Stealth Rock - Gyro Ball - Roar - Earthquake/ Rock Slide The reason to run rock slide over earthquake is so that you continue to counter fletchinder
