ORAS LC Teambuilding Compendium Hello and welcome to the teambuilding compendium for ORAS LC. The goal of this visual guide is to convey which Pokémon fill which roles in the metagame in order to aid with building teams. For each subcategory, the Pokémon are ordered based on their rank in the Viability Rankings. While this guide is fairly thorough, it does not cover everything, so if there is anything that you think should be added, feel free to post below! I think these should be added defog users: Drifloon simple and curse: Bidoof Defiant: Mankey Dedicated lead: Geodude maybe fletch as knock off absorber
Nice job E.T. ! The first thing I notice is that you're missing a lot of valid sword dance users: Drilbur, Pancham, Cacnea, Anorith and Mienfoo come to mind. I'll look more into it some time later
@Jethalal Drifloon: I guess I can add Drifloon to Defog users just to be thorough, but the reason that I didn't is because it has several other jobs that it does much better that it seems like a waste of potential to me for it to be used as a Defog user. Bidoof: I initially considered Bidoof as a Simple Curse user, but I wasn't convinced that the set was viable. Due to its low Speed, Bidoof usually has to take two hits before it can even attack. It does get STAB Quick Attack to attempt to remedy this, but even at +2 it is still weak. For example: +2 76 Atk Bidoof Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mienfoo: 9-12 (42.8 - 57.1%) -- 12.1% chance to 2HKO +6 76 Atk Bidoof Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mienfoo: 18-22 (85.7 - 104.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO That's not even Eviolite Mienfoo, and Bidoof isn't going to get anywhere close to +6 unless the opponent is completely terrible. After looking at it more, I think it may have a very slight niche because its bulk isn't as bad as I thought it was when it is invested, but I'm reluctant to add it to the list because I don't see it realistically "sweeping." I'll probably add it anyway though since it does appear to have /some/ viability. Mankey: Sounds good. Geodude: Sounds good. EDIT: I forgot to respond about Fletchling as a Knock Off absorber. I don't think it would make a very good one because its bulk isn't all that great and you want to keep it healthy for sweeping. It is weak to Stealth Rock too, so that doesn't help either. Also, it would probably have to switch in on something that it could force out because otherwise, it's vulnerable to being KO'd or status inflicted while Roosting, and it typically won't force too many switches unless the opponent still has a solid counter or check alive because they don't want to give you the chance to Swords Dance. Can it be used to switch into Knock Off at times? Sure. However, I think using it to absorb Knock Off is something that is situational that you typically only want to do when running out of options as opposed to being something that you could switch in reliably for most situations with little consequence like the Sticky Hold users. @Casparov Drilber, Pancham, and Cacnea are included as Swords Dance users, but not explicitly. I put them in the physical Wall Breakers section because while they do have Swords Dance, I think that they lack the Speed to actually sweep. The Pokemon I listed under Swords Dance are setup sweepers that can threaten to sweep after a boost. Cacnea does have Sucker Punch at least; however, it lacks power for OHKOs because it doesn't get STAB. Mienfoo was excluded because it typically only carries Swords Dance on Baton Pass sets, but I suppose that doesn't mean that it can't be used as a Wall Breaker, so I'll add it to the physical list, but I also think that it is too slow to be a Swords Dance sweeper. Anorith on the other hand might be able to pull it off a sweep since it's faster and has access to priority for the things faster than it. It also has the potential to wall break, and I don't think it would hurt to add it to rain abusers either since a Swift Swim set could also be viable. Thanks for the feedback guys! If you see anything else that needs discussing, or if you want to discuss this stuff some more, don't hesitate to post.
I had faced a CM hex (wisp and recycle) variant of Drifloon in a LC event a week ago. Just wanted to mention it as it's a fairly niche CM user. Also it would be great if you add the boost moves used along with simple in braces so people can get it easily!
@Jethalal Mime Jr.: Sounds good. Chinchou: Sounds good. Zorua: Sounds good. It could be a decent Pursuit trapper too thanks to Illusion, so I'll add it to that as well. @Joyverse Drifloon: Sounds good. It's actually a very good user of Calm Mind, but I just missed it. Simple: That's not a bad idea; I'll add it. Good job; keep posting!
@LittleRoot Totodile: This is already included as a wall breaker, but I'll add it to the sweepers list too since it /can/ sweep with Aqua Jet, particularly late game, but I think it is a bit more situational than something like Corphish since Totodile needs a Life Orb to sweep with this set and has fewer opportunities to setup without Eviolite. Munchlax: Sounds good.
Might wanna add Dratini to Band. It's especially fun at times. I can't exactly argue about it's viability tho, I sux :/ EDIT: Yeah so, the DD and mixed lo version are preffered, so say smogon dex but I like band! :3
@Joyverse I don't think Dratini should use Choice Band because Life Orb outclasses it. The very slight increase in damage rolls that Choice Band offers really isn't worth sacrificing your ability to chose your moves, especially considering that you could use Dragon Dance which essentially gives you the Choice Band boost anyway, but you can still choose moves and add Life Orb on top of it. By comparison, Axew is able to pull off a Choice Band set thanks to its higher base Attack and access to Dragon Claw which it can still do considerable damage with without having to commit to Outrage. Speaking of Axew, I'm going to add it to Choice Scarf users because I missed it.
