Do you think the Contest Themes currently available at #Safari sucks? Think you can make themes better than us? Well, this is our chance to prove you wron- I mean, this is your chance to try that! We now present you the Contest Theme Contest (fancy name, right?)! Please read the entire forum post in full before submitting any entry or asking any questions. If, after reading the entire post, you have any questions, please reply to this thread as you may not be the only one with that problem. Asking anywhere else is subject to being ignored. How to participate? You must create a Contest Theme and send it by Forum PM to @IceKirby and @Fuzzysqurl. Your PM must contain the following information: Now you must be asking, "How are Contest Themes even made?". The answer is simple: We use this tool http://icekirby.github.io/PO-stuff/safarimaker/ So to make your theme you must simply create it in that page, click the Export Theme button and code/paste the code you will be given in your PM. (For further instructions about how to use the Theme Maker, click the Help button and read it VERY carefully). Please make sure your code is valid or we will void your submission. A valid theme is one that can be imported successfully by the Theme Maker when using the Import Theme function. Tips for Success Your theme should have a clear and original concept. Don't try to just make something like "Improved Forest theme" or "Blue theme, since we have Brown". Have a well defined concept and make sure that all Pokémon included fit that concept. The Theme's concept is the most important part of your submission. If you don't explain it properly, we will simply ignore your PM. Be mindful of the Legendaries and rare forms that you include in your theme. You can put some, but remember that those will have a big impact in how we will rate the themes, so the more you add the more we will expect from it. Also, do not include Mega Pokémon. They will be instantly rejected. You do not need to worry about the Custom BST field if you don't know what it means. We will likely adjust it anyway. You can choose to use Default rules set if you don't think your theme needs a custom one. If you use a custom one (or even if you choose to have no rules), you must justify why you picked those rules. You can Export your theme, save the code and then Import it again to continue working on it at some later time. If you already submitted your theme but wish to make some change, use the same PM to do so (and don't forget to explain your modifications). You can submit more than one theme, but only if they are differently enough from each other (example: don't submit a Forest theme and then a Jungle theme). Please send us a diffent PM for each theme you submit. We will not give feedback on themes submitted until the contest is over. Do not waste our time by asking "what can I do to improve my theme", we will simply ignore you. Rewards Of course, a contest needs a reward! For this contest, we will pick up from where we left in the Costume contest and offer a choice of Cosplay Pikachu not picked during last contest as the Grand Prize! This means the author of the best theme can choose between Pop Star, Belle, or Ph. D Only the best theme will receive the Grand Prize, but all themes that we consider good enough to add to the channel will receive 3 Mega Stones, 5 Cherry Delights, 6 Eggs and 8 Prize Packs! This one can be won by multiple players, and even more than once per player if they submit more than one good theme. And of course, each theme considered good enough will be added to #Safari (subject to some tweaks by us). Important: If none of the themes submitted are good enough, then there will be no winners and no rewards will be given. Rules & Disclaimers It should go without saying, but in order to be eligible to receive your prize, you must be in good standing in Safari and on the Server. Furthermore, once you submit your entry to the contest, you grant us all rights to use your idea without any compensation. Duration Contest will last for about 2 weeks, finishing on April 30th, around 11:59:59pm GMT. Entries submitted after that time are eligible to being ignored. There's no deadline for when the result will come, but we will try to not take longer than one week (don't count on it though).
on the topic of mega evolution, does primal reversion fall under this category or does it fall under formes
Read the thread and you will know :) Yes. If there's too few Pokémon, then the theme will have far too much repeated spawns. As for big amounts, they are not a problem unless they have so many that it becomes too similar to Default.
What exactly do we write in Key points? (I didn't really get that) Also, when we make modifications, can we add a new post with the updated code?
Explain why you picked each element (key Pokémon, types, rules, etc) and how they make sense within your theme's concept
Hi let's not ask anything before reading the first post VERY carefully. I won't answer any question already answered by it :)
1. What is the difference between explaining "key points" and "concept?" 2. Does "No Rules" mean that the rules will be completely randomized like most themes, and does "Default Rules" mean that it will ALWAYS have no special rulesets? 3. I assume that "Type Sets" are Enforced Types, like how the Normal Theme uses?
Not much really. Concept is shorter and talks about theme as a whole, Key Points you talk about specific bits of your theme. You can combine both if it's easier for you to explain them that way. No, the other way. I mean, why would "No Rules" not mean "No rules"? :x Short answer, yes. Long answer, it's just a way to make Nerfed types that always appear together. You could have a set of Fire+Grass nerfed and another set of Water+Electric nerfed, which means type nerfs would only come as those specific pairs (You wouldn't see only Grass nerfed, or Grass+Water nerfed, or any other type not listed).
If themes are exactly the same, then best one to explain their concept/justify their choices get the reward (if any).
I dont really think it matters that much, as long as the key points and the concept are good, all the pokemons etc are correct. They will probably help you with the name. But ofcourse it will always be better if you come up with a good one yourself.
Added the recently implemented Generation rules to the Safari Theme Maker. It was only briefly tested so post here if you find any bug with it.
Can you change your theme if you already submitted it? (Like, I want to change a rule in a theme I submitted)
"If you already submitted your theme but wish to make some change, use the same PM to do so (and don't forget to explain your modifications)."
Submissions are now closed. If I counted it right, there are 66 themes to reject analyze, so please be patient until the results come out.
Umm, I'm currently playing on a different alt than the one I submitted in my pm's, is this a problem?
There's no deadline for when the result will come, but we will try to not take longer than one week after the first two weeks (don't count on it though). Good work, anyhow can't wait any longer to finally tell everyone I won
