Hi, I'd like to suggest the implementation of a couple of tiers for PO. One of them would be the return of a old tier that used to exist during gen 5 iirc. That tier is NEU. Back then it was one of the most fun tiers and I think the return of that tier would be good, since it doesn't exist anywhere else according to what I know and would add more diversity to the sim. The other tier is (Wifi and non-Wifi) Hackmons CC 1v1. Regular CC 1v1 is quite fun and usually it has a good amount of players in tours. Since there is a decent player base for CC tiers I think Hackmons CC 1v1 would be a great and fun addition to PO. Now what do you guys think about this?
Regarding the Hackmons CC tier I think its a good idea to implement in the server. Its another fun tier for the queue that people don't have to heavily invest in terms of teambuilder, so support here. However, NEU I'm a bit on the fence right now since we have other new tiers that are newly introduced and this might create a divide in hype. Maybe after a while once Middle Cup is fully integrated.
Thanks for all your opinions and thanks for making the tiers actually happen! I also want to say a couple of more things. First, maybe NEU should be returned only when gen 7 comes out, since there aren't that many months left until that happens, and also because more Pokémons would be added to the game, making this tier better to use mons that will be less used when the new gen and subsequent mons arrive. Also, I didn't think of this before but I'd like to suggest yet another tier. How about Wifi CC 2v2? It would be a Double Battle, but with CC and Wifi clause. And why Wifi? Because it would add a more strategic component to the game. You could have two mons with abilities and moves that could be well used together in the match. I know Doubles isn't very popular in PO but I think this would be quite a good addition too for the sim. Once again, I'd like to read your opinions about this.
In my opinion, we need to wait awhile before we add any new tiers since 6 new tiers have already been added over the past few days. As far as doubles challenge cup goes, for the team based challenge cups that is already possible to do (except for Android, I think), as well as triples, if you just set your mode to doubles or triples from the challenge window.
NEU wouldn't really be possible this late in the gen. Even LU and NU haven't quite stabilized and it's getting close to the next gen. Middle Cup would probably be a better alternative right now since it isn't tied to usage stats.
Well, it's true that lots of tiers were added, but why not one more? Also, Double and Triple CC is possible indeed, but not the way I was talking about. Basically what I meant to say is Wifi CC 1v1 but Doubles instead, and with the possibility to choose 2 and only 2 mons to battle.
It wouldn't be hard to think of 100 possible variations of CC with how many clauses and formats there are. With a CC clause people can challenge with any combination of these clauses. The question for these is whether or not they will be popular enough to warrant creating a ladder for them. Having 100 different CC tiers would be silly. (i think the inverted hackmons and hackmons 1v1 CC tiers are silly btw, but w/e)
I've only found 1 ladder battle for each of the two you think are silly. Hackmons Wifi CC 1v1 is pretty popular (found significantly more battles in that)
I just don't think Hackmons really adds anything to the Wifi CC 1v1 format and the idea of trying to outpick your opponent. The same thing in the reverse direction as well more or less. It doesn't seem like hackmons wifi cc 1v1 has gotten many battles either unless the ladder was reset recently. We could still have all these tiers in tournaments by just adding on clauses to Challenge Cup, so that's a non-issue. Also, just how many permutations of CC ladders are we going to make between regular, 1v1, 2v2(?), inverted, hackmons, and team preview? Spoiler free hackmons inverted wifi cc 2v2 plx
NEU would be terrible with the way stats are working currently. If there were going to be a tier created below NU, it should be created from the bottom up, rather than being a list of things that aren't-quite-popular-enough in NU.
My question is ... why are we making tiers just because? None of NEU / Middle Cup have a good foundation or playerbase to start with so this is a lost cause. Seriously the PO userbase is low enough as is. The only tiers I'd see remotely working is the Nintendo side game tiers, and even then those shouldn't be permanent / relegated to side tiers once the competition is done.
tl;dr vague suggestions at ideas were implemented as soon as they were suggested from what I heard. Monogen was only implemented because it was easy to just use the OU ban list and it has the potential to be a relatively well-balanced metagame in the little time we have left.
