made by @Lacus Clyne and @cries in vain Primal-Kyogre + Xerneas Both share almost the exact same checks and the intention of this core should be obvious. You pressure your opponent to the point where he has to let his checks getting weakened and finish them off with your other Pokémon. Spoiler: Primal-Kyogre + Xerneas Kyogre @ Blue Orb Ability: Drizzle EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Origin Pulse - Calm Mind - Ice Beam - Thunder Xerneas @ Power Herb Ability: Fairy Aura EVs: 140 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 48 Spe Modest Nature - Geomancy - Moonblast - Focus Blast - Hidden Power [Rock] Primal-Groudon + Klefki + Mega-Salamence It's a good core with defensive and offensive capabilities. Primal-Groudon can be used as a Stealth Rocker and checks threats like Xerneas or Primal-Kyogre, while Klefki checks somehow the threats Primal-Groudon is weak to. Finally Mega-Salamence is here to get rid of the ground type weakness and provide some solid offense. Spoiler: Primal-Groudon + Klefki + Mega-Salamence Groudon @ Red Orb Ability: Drought EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Sassy Nature - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Lava Plume - Roar Klefki @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Play Rough - Thunder Wave - Toxic - Spikes Salamence @ Salamencite Ability: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 124 Spe Impish Nature - Return - Dragon Dance - Roost - Refresh Mega-Sableye + Arceus-Water + Lugia The most famous stall core in Ubers. Magic Bounce from Mega-Sableye can keep Stealth Rocks away to an extent and Lugia benefits from that by keeping Multiscale to tank a hit from every Pokémon. Lugia is the check to almost everything that is going to do damage and checks most of the time dragons like Mega-Salamence or Rayquaza. Arceus-Water is the defoger and checks Primal-Groudon and Ho-Oh. Spoiler: Mega Sableye + Lugia + Arceus-Water Sableye @ Sablenite Ability: Prankster EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD Impish Nature - Fake Out - Will-O-Wisp - Recover - Foul Play Lugia @ Leftovers Ability: Multiscale EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 Spe Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Ice Beam - Roost - Whirlwind - Toxic Arceus-Water @ Splash Plate Ability: Multitype EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Judgment - Toxic - Defog - Recover Cloyster + Mega-Diancie A counterlead core against standard HO. It also has a good match-up against everything else. Cloyster sets up Toxic Spikes and antileads Deoxys-S with Rapid Spin. With Shell Smash Cloyster is able to provide some offense without getting set-up baited. Mega-Diancie checks Darkrai and is a solid switch-in against Mega-Sableye. Spoiler: Cloyster + Mega-Diancie Cloyster @ Focus Sash Ability: Skill Link EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Icicle Spear - Shell Smash - Rapid Spin - Toxic Spikes Diancie @ Diancite Ability: Clear Body EVs: 80 Atk / 252 SpA / 176 Spe Naive Nature - Protect - Diamond Storm - Moonblast - Earth Power Rayquaza + Mega-Salamence Same scenario with Primal-Kyogre + Xerneas. Rayquaza and Mega-Salamence share the same checks and while one is doing some damage the other one is able to clean or create a path for a third party. Spoiler: Rayquaza + Mega-Salamence Rayquaza @ Choice Band Ability: Air Lock EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Dragon Ascent - Extreme Speed - V-create - Aqua Tail Salamence @ Salamencite Ability: Intimidate EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe Adamant Nature - Double-Edge - Dragon Dance - Earthquake - Roost Rayquaza + Arceus-Ground Ok so the idea behind this is basically breaking Arceus-Ground checks with Rayquaza early/mid game so that SD Arceus-Ground can attempt a sweep later on or immediately after if the scenario is favorable this covers Primal-Groudon pretty well for an offensive build which is a massive lagniappe+Banded Rayquaza gives moderately powerful priority. Spoiler: Rayquaza + Arceus-Ground Rayquaza @ Choice Band Ability: Air Lock EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Dragon Ascent - Extreme Speed - V-create - Aqua Tail Arceus-Ground @ Earth Plate Ability: Multitype EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Swords Dance - Earthquake - Stone Edge - Recover + Arceus Dragon + Bronzong Arceus Dragon + Bronzong is a great core widely used in balanced teams. The first one is a solid defogger, Pdon check, sala/ray check , status spammer, and a safe-ish Ho Oh switch in. It is weak to fairy type obviously, and this is why it is paired with Bronzong, one of the most solid xern counters, which provides an amazing coverage for the core. Spoiler: Arceus-Dragon + Bronzong Arceus-Dragon @ Draco Plate Ability: Multitype EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe Bold Nature - Judgment - Toxic - Defog - Recover Bronzong @ Leftovers Ability: Levitate EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD Sassy Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Gyro Ball - Toxic - Stealth Rock - Protect Ho-Oh + Giratina-Origin That's a great core for Bulky Offensive teams, Ho-Oh is a great counter to the threats Giratina is weak to (Xerneas, Clefable, Arceus-Fairy, Darkrai, Dialga etc). Giratina can always remove hazards and enter on Stone Edges with the great defense. Spoiler: Giratina-O + Ho-Oh Giratina-O @ Griseous Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 Atk / 244 Def / 12 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Shadow Sneak - Earthquake - Defog - Dragon Tail Ho-Oh @ Choice Band Trait: Regenerator EVs: 248 HP / 204 Atk / 52 SDef / 4 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Sacred Fire - Brave Bird - Sleep Talk - Earthquake Ho-Oh + Mega-Gengar This is a solid offensive duo which could be dubbed as a core. It's a no brainer pretty much Mega-Gengar traps Ho-Oh checks and Ho-Oh ravages the rest of the team. Teams using Arceus-Rock are especially vulnerable to this core because the rest of the team is generally incredibly Ho-Oh weak and Mega-Gengar is usually used to take out support Arceus on teams so Ho-Oh has a field day or at least a much easier time picking apart the rest of the build. Spoiler: Ho-Oh + Mega-Gengar Ho-Oh @ Choice Band Ability: Regenerator EVs: 248 HP / 208 Atk / 52 SpD Adamant Nature - Brave Bird - Sacred Fire - Earthquake - Sleep Talk Gengar @ Gengarite EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Taunt - Destiny Bond - Sludge Wave - Shadow Ball / Focus Blast Darkrai + Mega Gengar This is an incredibly threatening offensive duo just because Darkrai has so few actually viable checks and the fact that Mega-Gengar can legit take out all of them (Scarf Xerneas/Klefki/Tyranitar/E-Killer(¿)/other random fairy Pokémon) is just ridiculous. This core threatens to fuck over Ho-Oh balance which is arguably the most consistent archetype in ORAS Ubers while not having a bad matchup versus anything in particular except Rock Polish Primal-Groudon I guess? Because you can't run Mega-Salamence as your mega now and Darkrai is only really viable on HO. But yeah this is a really solid offensive duo that can tear apart loads of common builds. Would appreciate some hazards up i guess. Spoiler: Darkrai + Mega-Gengar Darkrai @ Life Orb Ability: Bad Dreams EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Dark Void - Dark Pulse - Nasty Plot - Thunder Gengar @ Gengarite EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Taunt - Destiny Bond - Sludge Wave - Shadow Ball / Focus Blast Primal-Kyogre + Ho-Oh + Klefki Primal-Kyogre + Ho-Oh are really good at pressuring loads of bulky teams by dint of their sheer power this could be paired with a wincon and a certain degree of defensive synergy 2 further fuck up balance and stall. Klefki basically acts as glue and spikes are actually a big deal because of the massive number of switches Primal-Kyogre and Ho-Oh force which ends up really enervating the common builds used in the current meta and this is as good as it gets to checking darkrai well on balance. Spoiler: Primal-Kyogre + Ho-Oh + Klefki Kyogre @ Blue Orb Ability: Drizzle EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Origin Pulse - Calm Mind - Ice Beam - Thunder Ho-Oh @ Choice Band Ability: Regenerator EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD Jolly Nature - Brave Bird - Sacred Fire - Earthquake - Sleep Talk Klefki @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Play Rough - Thunder Wave - Toxic - Spikes Giratina-O + Klefki So this is one common and really solid core. They cover each other weaknesses perfectly: Giratina checks Ground types, and most of the physical threats that annoy klefki (Ekiller,sd don etc) , while klefki covers the Dark/Dragon & Fairy weakness of Giratina. They both have access to status spamming or priority moves, while they also are a great pair of hazard controlling, since they have access to Spikes/Defog. The sets can vary depending on the team's playstyle. I have two sets for Tina, and the classic for the Klefki. Spoiler: Giratina + Klefki Giratina-O @ Griseous Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 248 Atk / 248 Def / 12 Spd Adamant Nature - Earthquake / Shadow Force - Dragon Tail - Shadow Sneak - Defog Klefki @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster Shiny: Yes EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Play Rough - Spikes - Toxic - Thunder Wave Xerneas + Mega-Salamence This core has near perfect offensive synergy (Steel Pokemon + Primal Groudon being a common answer), while also improving defensive capabilities of a team. The duo can effectively break a team's backbone, opening holes for things like Ekiller to clean up. Flexible on Offense, Balanced, and Bulky Offense. Spoiler: Xerneas + Mega-Salamence Geomancy Xerneas Xerneas @ Power Herb Ability: Fairy Aura EVs: 148 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 44 Spe Modest Nature - Geomancy - Moonblast - Aromatherapy - Hidden Power Ground DDD MMence Salamence @ Salamencite Ability: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 124 Spe Adamant Nature - Dragon Dance - Roost - Return - Refresh Standard MMence Salamence @ Salamencite Ability: Intimidate EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe Adamant Nature - Dragon Dance - Roost - Double-Edge - Facade Primal Groudon + Yveltal + Waterceus So this is a defensive core, capable to handle most of the threats in Oras. Primal Groudon, is here is set up some rocks, and check Xerneas (an yveltal answer) and Primal Kyogre as well. Yveltal is here to give an answer to E-killer,Salamence (a P.Don answer) or Rayquaza (a P.Don answer). Waterceus is here to provide checking to common threats as Ho Oh, Primal Groudon, Rockceus (a Yveltal answer) and more, while at the same time provide Defog. Ho-Oh can lure out mons and u can go into Ekiller, and also luring and beating mons like Shuca berry ttar. Ho-Oh also checks ghost mons like gengar. Having both ceus and ho-oh on the same team can easily handle geomancy Xerneas majority of the time. Using sleep talk on Ho-Oh helps when facing darkrai as well. You have different options on how u want to use Ho-Oh, u can use Choice Band, LO sleep talk, lefties, etc. Spoiler: Ho-Oh + Arceus Ho-Oh @ Life Orb Ability: Regenerator EVs: 248 HP / 196 Atk / 52 SpD / 16 Spe Adamant Nature - Brave Bird - Earthquake - Sacred Fire - Sleep Talk Arceus @ Life Orb Ability: Multitype EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly / Adamant Nature - Extreme Speed - Earthquake - Stone Edge / Shadow Claw - Swords Dance Mega-Diancie + Jirachi + Lugia This is a defensive core i really like as it checks a myriad of threats and also has wish support for Mega-Diancie while giving your team a nice cleric. Mega-Diancie and Lugia check Ho-Oh between them and other numerous threats like E-Killer / Dark types / Primal-Groudon/ Rayquaza / Mega-Salamence etcetera. Jirachi cockblocks Xerneas for the most part and hard checks the Lati-twins while spreading paralysis for something like Swords Dance Primal-Groudon to take advantage of. Strengthening the defensive backbone further would be recommended, although you can take a more offensive approach with 3 attacks Latios>Lugia and other E-Killer and Mega-Salamence checks. Since we did not have many defensive cores, i will post one: + Giratina- O + Klefki So this is one common and really solid core. They cover each other weaknesses perfectly: Giratina checks Ground types, and most of the physical threats that annoy klefki (Ekiller,sd don etc) , while klefki covers the Dark/Dragon & Fairy weakness of Giratina. haxed's core will be added we don't have many defensive cores yet so i'd urge the community 2 post some defensive cores if they found any functioning particularly well in the meta
Ok lets give a defensive one this time: + + Primal Groudon + Yveltal + Waterceus So this is a defensive core, capable to handle most of the threats in Oras. Primal Groudon, is here is set up some rocks, and check Xerneas (an yveltal answer) and Primal Kyogre as well. Ho-Oh + Arceus Surprised no one thought of these 2 mons. A great offensive core seen used a lot on ladder and tours. OK Now I Will Show a Core that Fits perfectly for every stall teams.Sorry I Don't Have any Sprites Right Now so I will Explain the Core that I Have For now. Then I will Post the Spoiler and Sprites later. The Core : Giratina-O , Primal Groudon and Clefable Description : The Core of Gira-O + Clef + Pdon works very Well on the Stall Teams. Gira-O Can Remove the problems of Physical Attackers especially The Pdon and Also Removes The Problems of Pdon and Clef , And also It is immunity to Ground , That's what we want now. Pdon Removes the Problem of Fairies and P Orge that Gira-O is weak to , And Removes the Prob of P Orge and Giving Coverage. While it can Setup Hazards . Clef is a Unaware poke which is a must needed thing for this team , Contains Wish and Heal Bell Support for this team , Checks Xerneas with Pdon Very well and Kills Dragon , Dark and Fighting types. While You Guys Using this core to Build a Stall Team , Use A Def Yveltal With this Core For Support against Set Up Physical Sweepers like Ekiller , Mence , SD Pdon. And I Also Request that Those Guys Using this core to build a Stall Team must Use another poke that Can handle P Orge because P Don cant handle P Orge Easily .Thank You and I Will Post Spoiler and Sprites later.
+ Wobuffet + Mega Salamence This core is actually pretty underrated which surprises me due to how broken it really is. Wobuffet is able to trap and lure physical walls that would otherwise stop Mega Salamence from sweeping such as Klefki, Defensive Arceus Formes, Lugia, Defensive Yveltal, etc... and once those threats are gone, Mega Salamence can just sweep so much more easily. Thats all really there is to it basically. (Ban Shadow Tag) Edit: just realized I forgot to post the sets, will do when I get home sorry bout that
+ Mega Diancie + Shedinja Core. This Works Very Well. Each Covers their Weaknesses . This Will be Fun and trolling. Shedinja is weak to Ghosts , Dark , Fire and Flying Which Mega Diancie can cover Easily. The Rest of the Types are easily Covered by Shedinja. This Can be Built Around Any Type of Team and Mega Diancie Can Bounce any Non attacks and Hazards which Shedinja is weak to. I Once tried this and Trolled Peoples on Rated Battles. So Here is the Spoiler Below. Shedinja @ Focus Sash Ability: Wonder Guard EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Toxic - Will-O-Wisp - Shadow Sneak - Baton Pass Diancie @ Diancite Ability: Clear Body EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 Spe Bold Nature - Sleep Talk - Diamond Storm - Moonblast - Rest
The main problem with that core is that the most common stealth rock user in ubers (and most common pokemon in the entire tier by the way) is primal groudon, which is going to give a lot of problems since it can destroy diancie with a precipice blades and shedinja with a fire/rock attack, so i think that a great addition to the core would be a defog-wish latias, not only it can give a check to pgroudon it can give an alternate solution to control hazzards, something that is essential in a team with shedinja, the wish support can also free diancie from depending on rest-talk for recovery and can include instead some other moves like heal bell to fully support the team, the role of shedinja is to wall certain pokemon that are problematic for both latias and diancie like mega lucario, xerneas or mewtwo, but that really depends on the coverage that they have, so adding protect to shedinja should be considered
