    Removing the RFC forum

    Proposal
The RFC proposes to remove the RFC forum permanently.

The voting options for this RFC shall be: accept, reject, abstain.

    Justification
    • Literally 2 people approved the idea in the first place, yet it was pushed forward by people who are no longer active contributors.
    • It has been used exactly 3 times (including this post). The first was an actual approval vote (which did not reach the total number of votes needed to keep the subforum); and the second was the Forum for Side Channels suggestion, which everyone had already agreed on in Indigo prior to it being posted here in RFC, and the topic itself was a parody of the original, as this one is.
    • Everyone just discusses things in Indigo or a staff forum anyway. What's the point of this forum?
    • Increases the votes held in this subforum by 50% from before it was posted!

    Actions
Professor Oak - Delete the RFC forum from the Pokémon Online board for good.

    Effects & Implications
    The RFC forum gets removed.
    Business continues as usual.

    Quorum & Voting
The current number of active PO staff is probably about 5.
The quorum for this RFC is probably about 5.
The proposal will be accepted if the number of positive votes meets or exceeds half+1 of total votes minus abstentions.
The vote will open when this topic is posted and close whenever we decide is best, or after 7 days.

As much as I like there being an organised, centralized way to make shit happen, clearly this isn't the way to go about it. It was a good but optimistic idea and it doesn't help that the people who tried to make it happen ended up going AWOL themselves. Worth considering this just a relic of the past and getting rid of it. Things happen without it. RIP the PO Slack btw.

RFC has done at most one thing since implementation. PO has no use for a rigid system to attempt to start things when no one is adhering to it, and when most things that PO needs to implement are limited by a single person (or maybe 2) who would be required to make improvements to PO (tours, Forums, Tiers, etc).

RFC is something that was never fleshed out, never served a clear purpose, was never supported, and never actually did what if was supposed to anyway. A better system (read actually communicating before doing shit) would be appreciated, but as the last 6 years of PO have taught me, communication is hard :(

I think the problem is, there isn't really enough staff for needing this. I think this was meant for a huge organization. To be honest, bit over written pages if you ask me.

    I support the removal.

literally i was thinking of shitposting in indigo social about this yesterday, but it seems oak had a better idea. I get this vague feeling that if we sacrifice the RFC forum, draw a pentagram around it, and balance an apple on our heads we might bring coyo back.

In all honesty communication isn't that bad. There's been a lot of feedback and discussion on server and in the forums with things like side channels, tiering policy changes, and script changes. This was never needed or requested. If someone wants to change something then they just make a thread or talk about it on the server. This is just too vague and purposeless. Something like a script changes request thread that moogle and fuzzy created are far more useful.

Okay, it would appear that this thread is currently 91.7% in favour of nuking it, and 12 people have voted.

I'm taking that as a supermajority and ending this now. Gonna move the RFC threads to the bin and nuke the forum.
