So I've posted this idea a while ago on the tournament ideas forum, but now I finally have time to host it =)

    Idea:
The tournament will be a combination of BF 6v6 and ORAS OU. Upon entering, a player submits a team, which I will collect in some sort of database. At the start of each round, I'll use a Random Number Generator to assign a team (which is most likely not their own) to battle with. This way, improvising in battles and determining your strategy based on what you get play a more vital role than in regular OU, where teambuilding is a very important skill to be succesful.

Teams will be checked for viability. I feel that I have enough knowledge of the tier to judge that, but if prefered, someone can co-check along.

    Format:
    - Rounds will be BO1, Finals BO3.
    - 3 teams will be provided to finalists and each team has to be used exactly once.
    - Rounds will last 7 days, with an exception of the first round (so I can start the next rounds all on the same day).
    - Rounds will use the Standard OU clauses, that is: Sleep Clause, Species Clause, Wifi Battle, Self-KO Clause. Freeze Clause and Disallow Spectators are optional.

    - Sign-ups will last for 2 weeks.
    - Depending on the sign-ups, the tournament will be 16, 24 or 32 players.

    - RNG does not exclude repetition in teams during a round. That is, it is possible that player 3 and player 24 both get team 5.

This tour format is fine I guess but is there any measure to stop me submitting my Little Cup team and fucking someone over completely. You can say you'll check the teams but then you have to chase up people who submitted teams that aren't "up to scratch" as you view it, and sometimes it may be more ambiguous than just "well that's an LC team" so then it becomes a BF tour but more awkward.

I'll have people reply to a thread to sign up and I'll like that post if the team is approved (teams are sent by PM to avoid "scouting". No like = not signed-up, which means that person won't enter the tournament.

Well "scouting" I wouldn't say is a big problem with randomised teams. If someone wants to dig through the thread to learn someone's sets then I wouldn't say I mind much for the sake of a signup process that's easier and has one less layer. Especially since both players can do it.

Now liking the post seems strange if the team is approved. You not liking doesn't draw attention from the person who posted the team, it's more likely to draw attention if you go through posts and tag everyone who submitted a team that can't be submitted.

But the biggest problem I guess I have here is. What makes a team unacceptable. Of course you have your obvious NU/LC teams that I'm fine with rejecting because that's dumb. But there are some serious non-standard OU teams that may catch your eye and some teams full of "good" mon that might not, but just don't work because they lose 6-0 to a bunch of common stuff because they're badly constructed.

Would that problem be alleviated if I find 1 or 2 people to check teams with me? I'm confident we can figure out then if teams are deemed viable. But yeah, judging viability is a hard thing to do.
