I am currently working on programming something that will hopefully be a close-to perfect desktop pokemon app, for all competitive needs. I would love to have suggestions for features you would like to see. I'm using gen 1 as a test subject, so they're added firstly. I will update this thread about how it's coming along! NOTE: It is going to be completely free and downloadable to your desktop for offline use! The reason why I wanted to make this? I got tired of switching between a million windows on serebii and bulbapedia to search for moves, abilities, and types on sepperate windows. So it started with me wanting a strong search engine for pokemon stuff. And then I thought "Why not make it an entire toolbox, and let everybody take use of it" Completed Features: - Basic Layout and Sketches Currently Working On: - Team Builder: Pokemon, Items, Abilities, Moves, and a Dynamic Stat Diagram with natures, IV's and EV's Planned Features: - Damage Calculator - IV Calculator - Team Rating (showing weaknesses, strengths, and saving) - In Depth Search (You can search for something like "A pokemon with flash fire, that learns earth power, and is a steel type" And then find Heatran. Possibly search for moves too) - Hopefully support to save teams in the format Pokemon Showdown uses for both import and export. - An Automatically generated guide on how to get your competitive pokemon. (Where to train, egg moves, etc.) Recent Screenshot of the teambuilder layout:
@Zeathus Wow, amazing tool, great job man! I think the only missing thing is the possibility to generate random teams, by region, type, average power etc. Just look at the pyrotoz generator, one of the most complete generators out there. Your tool is very useful and deep for competitive player, it just miss that funny thing like creating randomized teams. Will you implement anything like that in a future update?
@Pumone When you get notified of replies by email, being away a year doesn't really matter :P I haven't paid that much attention to Pokémon Toolbox since it didn't get that much recognition, and I realized that there isn't much reason to move from Showdown and/or Pyrotoz. I have recently been working on other projects. For example G.E.A.R. as it's shown on my website, but the main focus has been a Pokémon fan game on RPG Maker XP that I have been working on since April, and it's shaping up nicely. (I haven't even mentioned it online before this reply). The basic idea is that you will be able to travel an open world Kanto, battle gym leaders in any order you like. Even doing side quests and having the gym leaders follow a ruleset with no items, a maximum pokemon count and level, meaning that you will have to develop strategies to beat gyms, instead of just grinding levels. It has an original rival, and other side characters as well, with a story that is in the works too. I call it Pokémon Indigo (because of the Indigo League). It really gave me a smile to see the Toolbox still having some activity, and I haven't programmed visual basic in a long time, but I can see if I'm able to make some random team feature :) The showdown import also has some problems I can look into while I'm at it. Also, the program is actually out, but without the randomizer at Zeathus.net if you'd like to download :)
@Zeathus I'm a big fan of Pokemon fan games that use Pokemon Essentials and I hope to play your game in the next future! Yes, I'm looking for a tool that generates importable teams for PO, and in my opinion Toolbox is rich of precious features. It will be fantastic to see it come back more complete and fixed than ever, however, I understand what you said, it got poor attention, but this does not guarantee it's a bad tool! With the right bug fixes (import/export bugs) and some small new features (like the random generation, type generation etc...) toolbox will be just amazing, again, I really appreciate your effort. Good luck with all your projects!
@Pumone I have opened the project and managed to fix the import/export problems. I also realized that you can simply randomize with pyrotoz, and export from there into the toolbox. But if I were to add a randomizer into the toolbox, is there any features that you find lacking from the pyrotoz randomizer? I will most likely give the randomizer a try still, because the toolbox is supposed to be packed with every feature, and not just everything that's not found elsewhere.
@Zeathus In my opinion Pyrotoz is almost complete, the only thing it's missing is the possibility to lock the Pokemon itself (its moveset can still be randomised), to understand what I mean, see this https://honko.github.io/pokemon-team-generator/ and click the locker, the first time you lock the pokemon (and its moveset is still editable), but if you tap it twice you lock also its moveset, ability, etc. Wow you already fixed the import/export?? I will test it when it's ready.
