IT'S BETTER THAN FATE/STAY NIGHT This is a non-peak, mostly FFA rendition of the popular prequel to Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero. It's based on teams of Master and Servant working together to eliminate their enemies. Most of the setups are unique based on the number of players, so I'll have to go in a lot of detail here explaining what each role does by setup. http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=7dCi7sus my code is pretty bad SPAWN EXPLANATION: Spoiler 3p: Saber v Gilgamesh v Berserker A free for all, really. All three have the ability to beat each other depending on Saber and Gil's choices. 4p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Kirei Both servants can daykill, but they also counter daykills. Therefore, the first to kill the opposing Master automatically wins but if a servant suicides on the other, they lose. The Masters can inspect, safeguard, OR distract during the night to gather information required to find out who is the opposing Servant and Master. 5p: Saber v Gilgamesh v Berserker v Rider v Lancer They're constructed in a circle similar to Rotom: Gilgamesh > Saber > Lancer > Rider > Berserker > Gilgamesh 6p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver Harder to balance. This is the part I kinda need help with and most of the roles just do something funky without much meaning to them. I tried to have it go Gilgamesh > Saber > Rider > Gil and have it opposite for the Masters: Kiritsugu > Tokiomi > Waver > Kiritsugu 7p: Saber v Gilgamesh v Berserker v Rider v Lancer v Assassin v Caster See 5p. Gilgamesh > Saber > Lancer > Caster > Assassin > Rider > Berserker > Gilgamesh Servants get the power of the one they counter when they die. Gilgamesh can get Saber's nightkill immunity. Ssber can get Lancer's nightkill. Lancer can get Caster's votes. Caster can get Assassin's poisons. Assassin can get Rider's nightkill. Rider can get Berserker's daykill immunity. Berserker can get Gilgamesh's daykill. 8p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth See 6p 9p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth v Kirei In larger setups, Kirei is a lone role who can team up with Gilgamesh if Tokiomi dies. 10p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth v Berserker & Kariya 11p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth v Berserker & Kariya v Kirei 12p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth v Berserker & Kariya v Caster & Ryuunosuke 13p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth v Berserker & Kariya v Caster & Ryuunosuke v Kirei 14p: Saber & Kiritsugu v Gilgamesh and Tokiomi v Rider and Waver v Lancer & Kayneth v Berserker & Kariya v Caster & Ryuunosuke v Assassin & Kirei Saber: 3p: She can copy one of the other two roles (Gilgamesh and Berserker). Copying Gilgamesh gives her the ability to counter daykills and 1.1 votes. Copying Berserker gives her the ability to counter nightkills and 1.1 votes. 4p: She teams up with Kiritsugu. She daykills and counters daykills. See 4p setup for more info. 5p: She's designed to counter Lancer, so she evades poisons and kills from him. Also kills one person during the night. 6p: A sitting duck here but I don't know what to do with her to make her not boring. She only counters daykills, maybe give her 1-shot nightkill? 7p: She evades nightkills because she's supposed to counter Lancer. Also has a one-time daykill. When Lancer dies, she gets his nightkill ability. 8p: Same as 6p and onwards to 14. Saber will always know Kiritsugu if she spawns with him. Kiritsugu: 4p: Because of his three Command Seals, he gets one inspect, one distract, and one safeguard (can be used on anyone even self). The goal here is that the Masters can prevent the other from inspecting them or their servant, or they can distract/safeguard to prevent the other Master from doing anything at all. Only one command can be used per night. 6p: Kinda sucks right now. In 6p and up he has 2 votes and a /sabotage command that he can use to check if his target is a magus (Tokiomi, Kayneth, Kariya). If they are, they die. Gilgamesh: 3p: He can daykill. Killing Berserker gives him 1.2 votes needed to take out Saber in case she copied Gilgamesh, but killing Saber who copied him will have him suicide. 4p: He teams up with Kirei. He daykills and counters daykills. See 4p setup for more info. 5p: He's designed to counter Saber, so he can daykill. 6p: He can daykill. See a pattern here? 7p: HE CAN DAYKILL. When he kills Saber he gets her immunity to nightkills. 8p: See 6p. Tokiomi: 6p: He needs something else. All he can do is /convert Saber into a form which doesn't counter daykills so Gilgamesh can get rid of him. I was considering giving him an inspect that tells whether a person is a Master or a Servant. 8p: see above Berserker: 3p: He can nightkill starting night 2. He basically wins if Saber copies him and then Gilgamesh kills Saber, or if Gilgamesh decides not to daykill and someone is lynched d1. I'm pretty sure there was a 3rd option here but I had forgotten it. 5p: He's designed to counter Gilgamesh so he evades daykills and can nightkill. 7p: He has 2 votes and can't be daykilled because he still counters Gilgamesh. When Gil dies he takes his daykill. 10p: Same version as 7p onwards. Kariya: 10p and up. He can kill during the night with a 79% chance to succeed and a 10% to kill himself instead. Lancer 5p: He poisons and has a one time kill, meant to counter Rider who is Alexander the Great (dies instantly to poison cause died an early death). 7p: He has a nightkill this time, starting night 2. When Caster dies he will get 3 votes. 8p: Same as 7p. This time Kayneth will always spawn with him. Kayneth: 8p and up. He inspects as Lancer and he can /expose one person during the day without revealing himself. Rider: 5p: He can /trample one person during the night which converts them. If it is successful, he can daykill them. This doesn't work on Gilgamesh, but it does help him get around Berserker who evades daykills otherwise. 6p: Kills during the night. Knows Waver. 7p: Kills during the night, starting night 2. When Berserker dies his vote changes to 2. 8p: See 6p onwards. Waver: Right now he just inspects. Considering giving him some nightkill immunity because he's largely ignored by the rest of the cast (even Gil!) Assassin: He can poison two people during the night. When Rider dies, he gets a nightkill. Kirei: 4p: He has the same commands as Kiritsugu: inspect, distract, safeguard. 9p and up: He receives hax on a lot of commands (it's a lot) but he and Assassin don't really do much on their own. If Tokiomi ever dies, however, Gilgamesh will defect to his side. Caster: He gets 3 votes. When Assassin dies, he gains two poisons during the night. Ryuunosuke: He can /torture one person during the night. Other Masters are poisoned while Servants (as of now, are also poisoned) identify him. I'm having trouble trying to code it so that Servants both ignore and identify and I think it's possible but it's some variable thing that I can't figure out.
The first thing I'm going to say is the most obvious thing: simplify. I know that's ridiculous coming from Miki Productions, but it would make the theme great as opposed to good. The theme would mainly benefit from having roles keep the same abilities at all spawn points. Especially since those roles are very complicated in and of themselves. Complex is good; complicated isn't. I'll try and suggest things that preserve the complexity while cleaning out complicatedness. IMO, you can just use the roles you have in Saber/Berserker/Gilgamesh to make them complex enough to play 3p and KEEP that complexity in larger games (which would, ultimately, make the theme simpler). My advice: give Saber /avalon in all sizes, which basically just gives her a counter against whatever action the opponent has. It would make her counter inspect if used on Waver even. If she uses it on herself, it gives her a -99 voteshield. This forces mind games in any setup, even if it's 1v1 (will she self-avalon, meaning I can daykill, or will she avalon me, meaning I need to vote her off?). As for Gilgamesh, daykill is good. Gaining Saber's immunity to nightkills on death is also good. Give him 2 votes as well because he's a god and he deserves it; this will make the aforementioned mindgame viable. Berserker needs a way to beat Gilgamesh. The nightkill starting night 2 is good, but Gilgamesh then easily wins if Saber dies. Something like a power-up on lynch might work. Also, would Avalon still give nightkill counter, even if Berserker outlives Gilgamesh? In any case, you could make a good 1v1v1 with the base roles and have their abilities stay the same for the rest of the sizes. Also, Saber should get a daykill from Kiritsugu using a command seal. This would give their team offense in larger games. You could use command seals with similar mechanics for other roles too imo. Keeping 4p with the same roles as 3p is difficult but doable. What if you gave Kiritsugu a command seal (day action) which makes Saber able to daykill, while Kirei's command seal makes Gilgamesh counter daykill. It would make adrenaline duel possible anyway. Avalon should probably do nothing if it copies Kirei or other Masters. This way it retains the same setup of Saber and Gilgamesh fishing for specific roles. Rider dying instantly to poison is a bit of a drag, especially since Assassin has 2. I'd rather him be weak vs someone because they evade his kill than simply overwhelming him. Although somehow his team is topping /windata. Lancer not having a way to kill Saber is also problematic. I think if she keeps Avalon in all sizes it would be fine however.
