Alright so for those of you that don't know me the name is Celebi. and I like to teambuild a lot. ORAS hasn't been my favorite in terms of competitive metagames but I love Mons so I made it work. I think teambuilding is the most important aspect of competitive Pokemon. While it is true that no team can make a player, a solid team certainly does wonders. My favorite part about team building is doing anti-meta things, rolling off the beaten path and just downright surprising your opponent, and ORAS Ubers is one of the, if not the most difficult tier to build anti-meta in besides OU. I took this as a challenge and decided to have fun with it. I've never been much of an Ubers fan, especially the past 2 generations, but I've made it work and learned a lot about the tier in the process.

To show that I'm no slouch to the Ubers environment I've provided a ladder peak in the link below. This team got me to around 1550 and at that point I couldn't consistently win games. I'm not sure if I had been laddering too long or what, but needless to say, the team has been successful.

    WDLTH: Team at a glance

    Teambuilding Process
    [IMG]
The idea behind building this team was using as few Uber Pokemon, excluding mons that were tested in OU (eg. Mega Metagross and Greninja wouldn't count, but Mewtwo and Giratina would).
And to start things off I decided to go with a Pokemon that has the potential to beat the two most common Pokemon in Ubers, Primal Groudon, and Xerneas. That Pokemon is Landorus-I. I thought about using the Therian form, but I was really drawn to the specially based attacker and the fact that Landorus-I has an easier time with top Uber threats.

    [IMG] [IMG]
My next slot went to Greninja. Protean is an excellent ability and Greninja has the Speed, Power, and move pool to fit into a specialized team like this. it can handle Xerneas, various Dragons, and it learns Rock Slide just in case I want to clip and Ho-Ohs that think that they can stay in on Greninja and kill it.

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG]
My next addition was a secondary Primal Groudon answer because let's be honest, Landorus-I is incredibly see through. I chose Rayquaza because of the combination of Air Lock and Water moves mean it can just 0hko Primal Groudon more often than not. Rayquaza also gets the move Dragon's Ascent which is an excellent move that I decided to show off a bit. Rayquaza hits like a truck and dents everything it touches.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
After looking at the 3 Pokemon on the team, I realized that I had absolutely no Speed whatsoever. Rayquaza's Extreme Speed was also my only form of priority. In order to remedy this Speed problem I decided to add Sticky Web Smeargle. The move set Smeargle has allows it to cripple at least one Pokemon and almost guarantees that I get Sticky Web up every game.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
I then realized how weak my team was to getting Sticky Web removed from the field so I wanted to add a Defiant/Competitive user to my team. It came down to Thundurus vs Bisharp for the slot, but Bisharp ended up being my choice simply due to typing, ability to boost outside of Defog, better move pool, and the ability to deal with heavier mons and better. I also felt as if Bisharp abused Sticky Web better than Thundurus did.

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
And my last slot went to Arceus-Ground. I was mostly just looking for a Pokemon to clean house either just in case things got bad, or after the other members but in all the work that they could. Arceus-Ground ended up winning the slot because it is a fantastic Ubers Sweeper. My team has a major weakness to Mega Salamence and Yveltal and Arceus Ground helps patch that up. The coverage is a little redundant with Landorus-I, but Arceus-Rock, the other top candidate was too reliant on Stone Edge hitting. This team is already incredibly frail and needs all the help it can get, so 100% accurate moves were the way to go.

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
After some testing I realized that I was far too weak to Xerneas for any Ubers team to be. All of my answers required Xerneas either switching into me, or us both being in at the same time. I wanted something that had a better match up against Xerneas because the way the team was going now, my predictions had to be on point every turn, and that is incredibly difficult to keep up for an extended period of timee. The Pokemon I chose is Mega Metagross because it has an excellent match up against Xerneas, and maintained the coverage that I had on Greninja bar Ice.

And that completed the team. This is by far one of the most fun teams I've ever built for competitive Pokemon.

    In Depth
    [IMG]
    Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Sheer Force
    EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
    - Knock Off
    - Earth Power
    - Sludge Wave
    - Focus Blast
This is the team's first Pokemon. The EVs are the to maximize Special Attack so it hits as hard as possible, and the Speed it to outspeed positive natured base 100's. It also typically creeps the Lati's because they tend to EVs until they hit 330. The 4 Attack is just leftover for Knock Off because it isn't better elsewhere. Knock Off is there to cripple Lati's, hit Gira's and Lugia, and overall utility in Knocking Off items. Earth Power is obligatory STAB, and Sludge Wave is there for Xerneas coverage. After a Knock Off, Xerneas just loses to Sludge Wave. Focus Blast is there to round off coverage as well as hit Ekiller incredibly hard. The LO abuses the fantastic ability in Sheer Force.
    Metagross @ Metagrossite
    Trait: Clear Body
    EVs: 80 HP / 248 Atk / 4 SDef / 176 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

    - Iron Head
    - Earthquake
    - Bullet Punch
    - Rock Slide
Mega Metagross is by far one of the team's most crucial Mons. The EV Spread makes it so Xerneas only has a 25% chance to 0hko with Focus Blast after Rocks damage. The Speed hits 330 to outspeed max Speed base 100's and the Attack is maxed to do the most possible damage while maintaining the 25% chance. Iron Head is there for STAB, Meteor Mash was previously run but I really don't want to lose to misses, especially since this team is already incredibly frail. Iron Head also has a nice flinch chance and if Xerneas happens to live, Bullet Punch cleans it up 100% of the time. Earthquake it there to hit Mons like Primal Groudon and Zekrom, and Rock Slide is a nice surprise for Ho-Ohs that love to switch into Metagross.

    Rayquaza @ Life Orb
    Trait: Air Lock
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Dragon Ascent
    - Aqua Tail
    - Swords Dance
    - Extreme Speed

The EVs on this are pretty standard. I went with Jolly because most Ray's run Adamant and I want to outspeed those, and if push comes to shove I'd rather tie with Jolly ones than lose to them. Again this is a frail team, I need all the help I can get. Dragon Ascent is a fantastic STAB move that is fairly spammable. Aqua Tail is there for Ho-Oh, Arceus-Ground/Rock, and Primal Groudon. Swords Dance helps me a ton against Stall, and this team doesn't have a great match up against Stall in the first place. Extreme Speed is priority to help pick of weakened Pokemon. It's pretty weak unboosted but the extra damage is ALWAYS helpful.
    Smeargle (F) @ Focus Sash
    Trait: Own Tempo
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Magic Coat
    -Nuzzle
    - Stealth Rock
    - Sticky Web
Pretty Self explanatory EV's here. Maximizing Speed and bulk cause that's all that matters. Magic Coat is an interesting move that helps a ton against Darkrai, opposing Smeargle leads, and the Deos. It can bounce Taunts as well as Hazards making the other Pokemon near useless in the lead spot. Nuzzle it there to cipple at least one opposing Pokemon, and Stealth Rock and Sticky Web are the two best Hazards in the game. This team functions exponentially better when Web is up, so it always has priority over Rocks.

    Bisharp (F) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Defiant
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

    - Swords Dance
    - Knock Off
    - Sucker Punch

    - Low Kick
The EV's here are to ensure that Bisharp outspeed Darkrai and Arceus after Web. You can run 232 Speed specially to creep Darkrai after Web and put the rest in HP, but I've found that that added HP is insignificant in every scenario. It's also nice to be at Max for random things that fall in between 257 and 262 Speed. Swords Dance is there to help power up the already powerful Bisharp. It also helps in neutralizing burns. and a bit against Stall. Knock Off is a fantastic STAB move that hits a lot of the tier incredibly hard. Sucker Punch is nice for picking off Mons that are in range, or overall just dealing extra damage. Low Kick hits Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre harder than Knock Off, as well as a few other heavy mons in the tier and helps round off coverage. I don't run Iron Head because in all of the battles I've played with this team, one person has kept Xerneas in on Bisharp. Literally one. The fact that its a Steel type and carries Knock Off defers Xerneas enough. I also have an incredibly reliable answer in Mega Metagross.
    Arceus-Ground @ Earth Plate
    Trait: Multitype
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

    - Calm Mind
    - Judgment
    - Recover
    - Ice Beam
I honestly don't know which spread I like better for this, 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 Spd or the one listed above. I use them both pretty frequently, but the Offensive set more so lately. The EV's are maximizing Offensive potential because of how much this team needs it. Calm Mind Boosts and already great Special Attack stat and helps Arceus take Special moves. Judgment for fantastic STAB, Recover to remain healthy, especially on things that I can set up CM's on, and Ice Beam round off coverage and hits everything Judgment can't.

    Importable

    Threat List
Just Click X because if you see these you are going to have to play perfectly in order to win.
[IMG] [IMG] - I don't have switch ins or reliable ways to beat them/damage them. It usually goes somewhere along the lines of trying to deal as much damage as possible with the Pokemon that I don't need in that match so that I can finish it off with something stronger. Scarf Ogre kind of has a field day, especially if Web isn't up.
[IMG] and other support Arceus - If I can't hit them hard with SE damage I generally have a hard time with them. Arceus-Water is the most difficult of them all as I can't deal SE damage to it, WoW cripples half my team, and it has reliable recovery. Honestly if I see this mon I can basically just click X because it's almost unwinnable. I've generally got to rely on getting up and SD with Ray and hitting it with Dragon Ascent without being burned and hoping that can wear it down enough to a point where I can otherwise beat it.
[IMG] - Mega Salamence can set up on every single member of the team bar Arceus. I have to play this mon incredibly carefully because generally, after 1 DD I just lose to it.
[IMG] - I have 0 switch ins to this. I basically just sack and hope I've Mega'd with Metagross so I can KO it with Rock Slide or use Rayquaza's Aqua Tail.
[IMG] - Offensive Yveltal is much much more threatening that the Defensive sets. I have no good switch ins to it and basically have to hope that I just outplay my opponent and give myself a positional advantage.
[IMG][IMG][IMG] - I honestly don't deal with any variant of this Pokemon well at all. Specs Mewtwo just gets kills for days, MMY can play mind games against Bisharp, MMX kinda just kills everything. I deal with Mewtwo (X/Y) very very similarly to how I deal with Kyogre.
[IMG]- With Ekiller I have the issue of usually not being able to hit it hard enough fast enough. Much like Mega Mence, it can set up on a lot of my team and proceed to sweep after an SD. I really really rely on Landorus and prediction against this mon because of how brutal it is to my team.

More manageable but still incredibly potent if you mess up
[IMG] - Sub variants can put in a lot of work from the lead spot. Outside of that it's fairly easy to deal with between Smeargle and Bisharp. I also have priority in case anything goes wrong.
[IMG] - This thing is super fat. Lando's Knock Off doesn't do much and it can Roost/Phaze Bisharp pretty consistently. I've got to play really well around this to make it easier for myself.
[IMG] - Origin Form is sort of difficult for me to deal with. If it has WoW, Bisharp has a much more difficult time dealing with it, bust Bisharp is my go to simply because I usually can't hit it hard enough with anything else. If push comes to shove I just handle it like I do Kyogre. Sack mons I don't need in order to do enough for something I do need to be able to KO it.
[IMG] - No need for explanation here.
[IMG] - Only the Offensive set. If it finds a place to setup RP it just becomes exponentially more difficult to deal with.

    Teambuilding Honorable Mentions
Mega Gengar - Can replace Rayquaza and you can run AV Metagross or any other solid Steel Xern check. Mega Gar helps a lot with Support Arceus forms. Both the Perish Trapper and Offensive Sets work.

Greninja - Can also be used over Rayquaza. Both sets I used are below. It can also help a bit with Ekiller, Arceus-Water, and the Ogres depending on the set.
Greninja (M) @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
    Trait: Protean
    EVs: 252 Atk / 16 SAtk / 240 Spd
    Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
    - Rock Slide
    - Gunk Shot
    - Ice Beam
    - Low Kick
The first set runs enough Speed to outspeed Max Speed Arceus. Sash is viable to guarantee 2 Low Kicks against it, but it's more used as an Ekiller answer than the other set. You can run Speed to hit 340 for Adamant Arceus but that's know always worth it.

    Greninja (M) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Protean
    EVs: 252 Atk / 172 SAtk / 84 Spd
    Hasty Nature (+Spd, - Def)
    - Rock Slide
    - Gunk Shot
    - Ice Beam
    - Grass Knot / Toxic Spikes

The second is is more generalized for Ubers. The Speed hits 331 for Lati's and max Speed 100's. Grass Knot hits the Ogres and Arceus Water. Toxic Spikes helps so much against against Stall and can also be run in combination with Taunt for maximun trolling potential. I find the coverage is much more valuable, especially considering that Stall isn't very popular in the Meta at the moment

Arceus Grass - Can replace Arceus Ground using the exact same set. It helps deal with Arceus Water and both Ogres a bit better while maintaining the ability to hit Mega Salamence, Rayquaza, and the likes. It becomes walled by Steels though so you have to take that into account.

Arceus Rock - If you just want something for Ho-Oh

How to use the team + Replays

Basically with this team you want to get and keep hazards up. Smeargle is going to be your lead in just about every scenario ever. You're going to be clicking Nuzzle against most things unless they are common Taunt/Hazard users themselves like Darkrai, the Deos, and opposing Smeagle. In that case, Magic coat is the best first move and you proceed from there depending on what the oppo does. After that the match is all about pressure. You want to keep offensive pressure as much as possible predicting along the way. If the oppo has something like Mega Mence you have to be REALLY careful with how and when you KO things because one set up = GG.

I hopped on Showdown and got a few battles just to show different scenarios. The decay is too real

Smeargle misses out on 4 evs its spread should be 252 hp/4 def/252 spd or 252 hp/4 sdef/252 spd
Besides that the teams pretty good cant see any noticeable flaw
