Well, came back to pokemon last night after a fairly long break. Missed it a lot to be quite honest. So I was messing around with teams and came across an old Ubers team from the start of XY that was pretty good. Seemed to work reasonably well after that so I patched it up a little and I've got into the top 100 in ORAS Ubers after a few hours of laddering, hopefully onwards and upwards from here! (04:53:47) ±Porygon: Your rank in ORAS Ubers is 98/17435 [1335 points / 50 battles]! The whole team was originally created as a bulky offense team and it's stayed pretty true to that despite the shift in sub-generation. The original team is as follows. Spoiler Mewtwo-Y - Timid, Psystrike, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Aura Sphere. Pretty generic Mewtwo. Brilliant speed tier and can wreck a team from the start if they choose their lead poorly. Four attacking moves allows me to hit hard from the off without bothering to Calm Mind, and allows more coverage which is pretty unexpected, I seem to get a lot of KO's with players staying in on switches that would have been obvious in days gone by. Especially common is a simple Ice Beam to the face of a Rayquaza or Salamence in the lead spot. Shaymin-Sky - Life Orb, Timid, Seed Flare, Air Slash, Earth Power, Healing Wish. Again pretty generic. Standard glass-cannon offense with the added bonus of 60% flinches which is always helpful if I need a tad extra damage to be able to make a KO on the next turn. Healing Wish is actually dead useful and has set up a sweep by a badly-hurt pokemon several times when Shaymin can't do anything itself, for example if it's facing down a Ho-Oh. Arceus - Lum Berry, Jolly, Extremespeed, Earthquake, Swords Dance, Shadow Claw. Needs no introduction! Quite possibly the most threatening sweeper in Ubers, especially to an unprepared or weakened team. Chose the Lum Berry variant to stop annoying Thunderwaves and Will-O-Wisps being thrown about allowing a KO the next turn. Chose the 352 speed tier in order to hit the Lati twins and regular Gengar with Shadow Claw, guaranteeing KO's. Ho-Oh - Leftovers, Adamant, Sacred Fire, Whirlwind, Roost, Brave Bird. The first of my two tanks, Ho-Oh is an incredible special tank, and dishes out great physical hits at the same time. Whirlwind deals with Geomancy and other than that acts as a regular tank. Being a physical attacker is also excellent against the Special attackers which are mostly special defense-based as well. Giratina - Leftovers, Bold, Will-O-Wisp, Roar, Defog, Rest. Defog user and Extremekiller check. Probably the weakest pokemon on the team given the strategy (Kill or be killed as 90% of my serious teams go). Giratina performed well but didn't fit the team as well as the other remaining pokemon. Very solid pokemon though and would recommend, unstoppable on the physical side if played carefully. Zekrom - Choice Band, Adamant, Bolt Strike, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Volt Switch. Now this thing is an absolute brute. I rarely see Zekrom in Ubers, which is odd because I find it one of the best pokemon I've ever used, quite simply. I've used a Hone Claws set and a mixed Rain attacker set back in Gen 5 both to great effect, and gen 6 is no different. This time I've simply gone for pure power and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Using an Adamant 252/252 spread is excellent, as I get a lot of equal based pokemon running lower Speeds (Ho-Oh, Xerneas and Groudon are three of the most common, as well as uninvested Arceus although this is rare) and the first two are a clean KO, while Groudon and Arceus are crippled by an Outrage coming of a whopping 657 attack. Electric-Dragon is also an interesting typing, having lots of opportunities to switch in on common threats and force them out. The coverage is a little lacking but not a lot of teams carry a resistance to both as they are few and far between, and a prediction game is required a lot, especially factoring in Outrage use. So, this team was doing ok. However I had a pretty gaping weakness to Dragons and was also having problems with the extremely overused Primal Groudon as no one was specially equipped to deal with his additional Fire typing. I brought out the underperforming Giratina in exchange for a Fairy type. This original Fairy type was a Calm Mind Arceus, which of course meant replacing my Extremekiller. In the end I simply removed the Extremekiller for Arceus-Fairy but this didn't end up doing much as I still had Giratina issues and Arceus was also underperforming. After this remodel I decided to incorporate Xerneas into the team. Removing Arceus-Normal had meant I had one less physical pokemon, however already having Zekrom and Ho-Oh I decided I would try a mixed pokemon. In the end I picked a Close Combat Xerneas as follows and also swapped Giratina for Aegislash to provide better Xerneas cover in the event of it carrying Thunderbolt or Rock Slide for Ho-Oh: Xerneas - Life Orb, Hasty, Moonblast, Close Combat, Aromatherapy, Grass Knot. Excellent pokemon that I would thoroughly recommend after testing. Grass Knot provides good damage on the aforementioned Primal Groudon and Close Combat covers Arceus, and Arceus-Steel among a few others. Moonblast is the staple and Aromatherapy provides team support better than Giratina's Defog since hazard usage seems to have dropped and status is flying around instead. Aegislash, Leftovers, Sassy, Gyro Ball, Pursuit, King's Shield, Toxic. I can't decide whether I like this guy or not. He seems to do a reasonable job, in any case. Bane of the Lati twins and opposing Mewtwo-Y. Gyro Ball provides a good hit on Xerneas but I'm thinking of using Iron Head as he has a habit of coming up against Blissey who can take attacks all day long with this set. He also checks Extremekiller when not carrying Earthquake although the damage he can do is limited, normally just a Gyro Ball or Toxic, but this usually provides enough damage for the rest of the team to deal with. Finally, I also added this guy, as I was back in need of a physically defensive pokemon to replace Giratina. Yveltal - Bold, Leftovers, Foul Play, Dark Pulse, Taunt, Roost. A physical tank. Can take some surprising hits on both sides actually but especially physical, this guy is my number one Groudon check as he can hit some very good damage with Foul Play and Roost any damage off later. Two Dark attacks is a mixed bag, but I find Dark Pulse does the trick as I don't particularly need the coverage or healing of Oblivion Wing. Taunt is incredibly helpful for shutting down Blissey, Ferrothorn, Giratina and others and slowly taking them out. So in the end the team is as follows: Mewtwo, Zekrom, Yveltal, Xerneas, Aegislash, Ho-Oh. Also known as Owtwem, Morzek, Latlevy, Saenrex, Hsalsigea and Ho-Oh (lol). Importable is in the spoiler below. This team is extremely fun to play with and can only get better with practice since I've only been using it since this evening. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. I do still have slight problems with the aforementioned Extremekiller, as well as Ho-Oh if Zekrom goes down first, but it's a minor weakness and I am getting a solid enough winning record right now and long may it continue! Hey pal Nice team but xerneas is used for crictical situations while in the end of battle if u want some more offense change these things in ur xerneas EV= HP:40 SpAtk:252 Speed:212 (1):Moonblast (2)Geomancy (raises SpA+ SpD+ and Speed+) (3)Focus Blast ( to kill Ferrothorn or other steel pokemons) (4)Thunder (to kill Kyogre ,Ho-Oh and other flying and water pokemons) .I know FB and thunder will miss but it will kill Ur Opp Pokemons Which Annoy ur Xerneas.
You have serious weakness to Swords Dance Pgroudon, not even gira can stop him without taking at least 56% and having the chance of roaring into a Xerneas/Darkrai/Yveltal, knowing that you could either use Gira-O or Arceus Ground(+2 252+ Atk Desolate Land Primal Groudon Precipice Blades vs. 132 HP/252+ Def Earth Plate Arceus-Ground in Harsh Sun: 349 - 412 (84.3 - 99.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO [those are my evs]), he wont hit you unless he rock polishes or just attack). About the arceus evs Mgengar has 394 speed in mega so you wont outspeed him so instead of jolly u can go for addamant and some sp def evs to survive xerneas 252sp atk modest +2(some people use it)+2 252+ SpAtk Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 0 HP/0 SpDef Lum Berry Multitype Arceus: 392 - 461 (102.9 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO///+2 252+ SpAtk Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 0 HP/132 SpDef Lum Berry Multitype Arceus: 349 - 413 (91.6 - 108.4%) -- 50% chance to OHKO Thats all i notice for now
Hi So this team is really awful . You have no reliable answers to any of the threats in the meta and you outright lose to all of them as you have no counterplay measures and you need the whole team intact to function and even then it's still terrible against most playstyles. There are way too many problems with this team such as thunderbolt on Mega Mewtwo Y which is pretty terrible, the lack of a win condition ( zekrom does not count as one) , Whirlwind Ho-Oh on a team with no hazard control , the presence of Aegislash on the team which only makes it more Primal Groudon weak, random life orb Xerneas whose only role is to serve as Ho-Oh bait which can fire off it's STAB almost unresisted ,burning Zekrom if you're stupid enough to hard switch it in , the atrocious nature on Yveltal which doesn't even let it check Ekiller , your reliance on Zekrom as a stallbreaker which gets worn down really easily due to the number of times it needs to switch in and out with no way to remove hazards and general lack of synergy with a very unreliable ground immunity . You lose to too many things to list here and there is really no way of fixing all the issues without a significant revamp and quite simply put , I do not feel comfortable calling this team competitively viable and would recommend that you start over again .
Well this tean could be good in xy, but im pretty sure it wont work in Oras. Primal Groudon is needed in every Team, otherwise Primal Kyogre sweeps you easily. And Thunderbolt really isnt needed on Mewtwo, better use Fire Blast for Ferrothorn and sometimes Aegi.
Well, he's got Aura sphere so running both of Aura Sphere and fire blast is a waste of space. As mentioned by Dreams above this team is better off being scrapped and he is probably better off building something new from scratch. I agree with your Primal Groudon part being present on every team, but Palkia and Latias check Kyogre if not equally well then much better then what Pdon does as Pdon isn't a surefire way against Kyogre switchins. That said, the meta atm is much different from that of XY and I've rarely come across XY teams that have been able to keep up.
to be fair, this rmt was posted 5 months ago and the person who posted it hasnt been on the forum for 3 months
No, but I call it a waste of space. If Aura sphere fails to kill it, then he might as well run Fire blast/ flamethrower in Aura Sphere's slot instead. There is little reason to run both. And idk what you mean by the check part. I stand true to Palkia and Latias being amazing checks to Kyogre. He may or may not prefer running Palkia though, if he still plays that is, but it doesn't change the fact that they are hands down two of the best checks to Kyogre on offensive teams atm.
