With 6 votes, TCC was hammered and had to be held once more! Deadline: 11:59 GMT Thursday 7/23 Signups: To sign up for TCC, post in this thread once you have a team of at least 3 members with no more than 6. Divide those members up into each of the following categories: Role Design, Flavor Composition, and Theme Synthesis. These will be explained below. Please decide who will be responsible for what phase before posting to sign up in this thread. Format: The format for this TCC is going to be more strict to encourage many people to participate in each project. Each participant will be responsible for specific deadlines. Each Phase will last a week, at the end of which, the authors will have to PM me @Selena Gomez the code so far. Failure to complete a stage by the deadline may lead to your team being disqualified, or at least facing a significant penalty. Phase 1: Role Design Whoever is assigned to Role Design comes up with a list of ~30 roles. Not all of them have to be original, but do your best to come up with creative concepts. This phase includes coding the roles as well as designing them. Phase 2: Flavor Composition This stage deals with giving everything flavor. Help messages, distract messages, kill messages, etc, should be added here. Phase 3: Theme Synthesis The last stage deals with everything that the previous two have not. This includes making the /roles and /priority sections legible, and designing the spawn for the theme. Testing/Review: After these three weeks are up, the themes will be enabled for a test period. Some sort of system will be decided for judging winners, but most likely it will be a grading criteria very similar to QC Review. P.S.: Although each phase has individual theme authors who are responsible for submission, you are encouraged to collaborate with your team members on every section. P.S.S. You can sign up to participate in multiple themes. However, you cannot do the same job in multiple themes. E.g., you cannot be in charge of flavor in one theme and flavor in another, but it is fine to be in charge of flavor in one theme and role design in another. Happy theme making :)
Just two questions. First, do we have to post what theme we're doing upon signing up or can we do that afterwards? And are those phases in chronological order? If anything, I feel like it should go 2-1-3: Have everything make sense in the theme, then code it, then make everything tidy.
Decide what theme you're going to make first. You should have an idea of what you're planning to do beforehand. A theme obviously won't work if the members can't agree on what the material is going to be. The phases are chronological. You can design the roles without even giving them a name in the first phase. The second phase is working with the existing roles to make a flavorful theme. Having flavor in mind while working on the first phase is not a bad idea of course.
I just want to give a warning and an advice to the participants. Warning: it's true that this is a game but remember that it's a collaboration between players too, so please try to not abandon your teammates simply because you lost interest in the challenge. During the previous challenge in every team at least one player leaved without a warning their team, making it hard for the teammates to work. I saw some players that joined only because they wanted someone to code a theme about their favourite game or cartoon and then leaved when they exposed their idea, so if this is what you are after please don't join and code your idea yourself (it's not a difficult thing to learn to code a theme). Advice: It's true that as a squad you can make a theme faster, but for personal experience I suggest you to not make the code too much complex otherwise the coding will take a while and you will have some difficulty to finish the theme for the deadline. Oh right, another advice, remember guys that this themes will be voted by the other players so more your gameplay is easy to understand and more people will be interested to try it, an idea even if very cool if it is too complex the laziest players will always ignore it. Too long didn't read version: Don't leave your team without a good reason or they will be immersed in a sea of shit , simpler is the code and faster you will end your theme and more understandable is the gameplay more people will be attracted by it.
I kinda figured some squad would be put together by now and posted, but w/e. Here we go! I will be responsible for phase 1. @Honey Senpei will be responsible for phase 2. @SkyPhoenix will be responsible for phase 3. And our theme? The original Teen Titans, of course! Not the new one that basically takes the awesomeness of the original and throws it out the window for a cheap laugh, but the original one that actually had plot, motive, and everything awesome. P.S. Terra was the shit.
Ok here's our team: Pangaea (me) will be in charge of Phase 1. @Abdelrahman and @Jiggles shall be in charge of Phase 2. @Black Heart shall be in charge of Phase 3. Our theme? Well, you'll just have to wait and see! ;D Good luck to everyone else participating!
Edited my post. Basically, to meet minimum team count, our team has split into two. @Honey Senpei and @SkyPhoenix are staying with me on Teen Titans, keeping their respective responsibilities. @Karp Karpity, @Mayorofpie, and @Water will be on the other team, doing who-knows-what.
OK, I will be responsible for Phase One @Water will be responsible for Phase Two and @Mayorofpie will be responsible for Phase Three Our theme will be announced when the time is right
The best suggestion I could give you is to ask to other players on server to ask if they want to join your team. Pangea and joeypals did it this way.

Leaving this thread open for comments/questions/discussion.

And now that I think about it, isn't there usually a period for the TCC themes to come onto the server to be played?
Ok, I'm really confused. The thread title says we are in Phase 3 but apparently it has already ended? Themes are already uploaded on the server so I'm really confused. It's not like Miki is inactive either, so what's going on?
I haven't updated this on the forums because I've been busy with irl things. That doesn't change that the 3 weeks are beyond passed. You can ask an MA to upload your theme to the server at your convenience.
