Hi guys, this is my first RMT of the ORAS era. For those of you who haven't seen my RMTs before, you're going to see some unusual sets. I like to give underrated Pokémon/sets a chance to shine, so I thought I'd build a team with some. Somehow, it ended up being my most successful Ubers team ever, currently ranked at around 1510. I never thought it would do so So let's cut to the chase.

    At a glance:

    A closer look:

    Wallbreaker #1
    [IMG]
    Rayquaza @ Life Orb
    Shiny: Yes
    Trait: Air Lock
    EVs: 40 Atk / 252 SAtk / 216 Spd
    IVs: 29 HP
    Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
    - Dragon Ascent
    - Extreme Speed
    - Earthquake
    - Draco Meteor

MixQuaza, back with a twist. Dragon Ascent and Draco Meteor serve as the STABs - the stat penalties aren't a big deal since Rayquaza rarely stays in for more than a few turns at a time. Earthquake gets great coverage with the STABs, only missing out on Skarmory (which these days is extremely rare). Extreme Speed gets some chip damage and lets Rayquaza revenge kill weakened Pokémon. EVs outrun max speed base 90s, with max special attack to power up Draco Meteor and the rest in Attack to give the other moves a boost. Life Orb gives the moves more power. Rayquaza's role is to help clear the path for Arceus and Xerneas to sweep. IVs hit a Life Orb number.

My Stealth Rock setter / Xerneas check

    Groudon @ Red Orb
    Trait: Drought
    EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef
    Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
    - Stealth Rock
    - Earthquake
    - Lava Plume
    - Roar

I originally had an offensive spread, but Geomancy Xerneas could completely run through my team. Geo Xern is still a threat, but luckily I have something to handle it as most players set up far too soon. Stealth Rock is a given, to get chip damage and keep Ho-Oh in check. Earthquake is the main STAB - as this set doesn't focus on power, it's chosen over Precipice Blades since it's more reliable. Lava Plume lets Groudon cripple physical attackers not named Ho-Oh. Roar stops opponents setting up on me. EVs maximise Special Defence to make the best of Groudon's overall bulk. A Sassy nature is chosen to not gimp Groudon's power or bulk, and it's not using its Speed anyway.

    My Defogger/ Primal Groudon check
    [IMG]
    Giratina-O @ Griseous Orb
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 248 Atk / 248 Def / 12 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Defog
    - Shadow Sneak
    - Dragon Tail
    - Shadow Force

With 2 Pokémon weak to Stealth Rock, I needed a Defogger. Giratina-O is one of the best around since it isn't weak to Stealth Rock, has great bulk, and is immune to most hazards. Defog is the crux of this set. Dragon Tail gets STAB and stops the opponent setting up on me. Shadow Sneak gets some nice priority, 2HKOing all Mewtwos. Shadow Force is Giratina's most powerful STAB, and does a ton of damage to the Xerneas that thinks it can set up on me. EVs give enough Speed to outrun max speed Diancie before mega evolving, with near max attack and the rest in Defence for buffed physical bulk. TBH I just copied Smogon's spread.

    My physical sweeper

    Arceus-Steel @ Iron Plate
    Trait: Multitype
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Swords Dance
    - Iron Head
    - Earthquake
    - Stone Edge

Fuck Extreme Killer, SD Steelceus is where it's at! It plays the same way as its (incredibly overrated) Normal type counterpart - boost when you get a chance, and then sweep. Steelceus's niche is the vast array of resistances granted by its Steel typing, making it tough to revenge kill. Swords Dance gives Arceus the power needed to sweep. Iron Head is the STAB, hitting a shade harder than a STAB Return thanks to the Iron Plate. Earthquake hits the Steel, Fire and Electric types that resist Iron Head super effectively. Ho-Oh loves to switch in on Steel Arceus - Stone Edge rips it to pieces. EVs maximise Speed and power.

    My Special Sweeper/Stallbreaker
    [IMG]
    Xerneas @ Leftovers
    Trait: Fairy Aura
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Calm Mind
    - Moonblast
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk

You: But why would you use Calm Mind when Geomancy is obviously superior?
Me: Well, if Geomancy Xerneas is forced/phazed out after boosting you won't get another chance. And while it can demolish fast offensive teams after set up, stall teams easily stop it. This set walks over stall teams, and lets Xerneas muscle through Pokémon that would otherwise beat it like Aegislash, defensive Ho-Oh and defensive Primal Groudon. Oh, and it's also a great Darkrai switch in.

While I'll admit this set doesn't have GeoXern's power, it's much bulkier and thus harder to revenge kill. Calm Mind boosts Special stats; Moonblast gets boosted by STAB and Fairy Aura, so hits pretty hard. Rest keeps Xerneas healthy and free of Toxic; Sleep Talk lets it attack while asleep. EVs maximise physical bulk - since Calm Mind boosts Special Attack and Special Defence, they don't need investment.

    Wallbreaker #2/Late game cleaner

    Shaymin-S @ Life Orb
    Trait: Serene Grace
    EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
    IVs: 29 HP
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Seed Flare
    - Air Slash
    - Earth Power
    - Healing Wish

Last but by no means least, here's Skymin. Standard special attacking set - Seed Flare and Air Slash get STAB, and thanks to Serene Grace their secondary effects mean I can hax my way through potential checks like Ho-Oh. Earth Power gets wonderful coverage with the STABs, hitting everything bar the rare Skarmory for neutral damage. Healing Wish is there to give a teammate another chance when I don't need Skymin anymore. EVs maximise Speed and power; IVs hit a Life Orb number.

So that's it. What do you think?

    Threats:

Sweeper Primal Groudon is very troublesome once Giratina and Skymin are down.
Band Ho-Oh is tough, as nothing on my team can reliably switch into it (mind you, not many Pokémon can reliably switch into Band Ho-Oh)
Geomancy Xerneas is tough to stop once Groudon's down
Extreme Killer Arceus can wreck me once Groudon and Giratina are gone.
