Well, to make an online game that doesn't require the download of any content at all is pretty much impossible.

If you mean to not require downloading an installer, we have a webclient project that's pretty close to being finished as far as I understand, but I think we need more people working on it.

If you mean the automatic updater, I think that idea got canned after it kept breaking/not working.

I'm sure he means something like Showdown where it's possible to connect to and play the game online, without having to download the client. It would be an interesting update though, and am sure can be a step forward on revitalizing PO's member list too.
It'll be interesting to see it implemented though :D

You dont really explain if you cant download the game or if you cant install the game, those are different things, but whatever, what makes the PO different from other simulators (coughcoughShowdowncoughcough) is that you can download the game instead of playing it in your browser, sure, the download may not see small but once you download and install it you can play it with minimal resources (which is a blessing when you have a slow connection) also you can even build your teams offline which is amazing

But sure, i understand that a web client could be useful for when you are not in your pc or something like that, it also could help some people try the game before downloading, some people simply see that they need to download 60 MB to try the game and they feel intimidated...

@Rabidragon The main purpose behind that would be to let slower web users connect with ease in the first place, and people from remote devices too.I remember the entire last year where I had to play PO from a cyber centre, was hard but I managed to peak for once,so was all well worth despite the effort.A website helps a lot bruh.
As for devices, android app is very convenient.

^If you have a slow internet is better to download the game than to play it in a browser, in the long run at least....

Sure, you need to download 60 MB but after that you are using less intrenet resources because you already have important data stored locally like the sprites or the cries, and you can even build your teams offline, in the browser version (like in Showdown) all the data like the sprites needs to be loaded each time you connect which is a really problem if you have a slow connection, but as i said a browser client could be useful for when you are outside of your home or to try the game before you decide to download it...
