so during the time period in which the main server was down, the mafia staff decided to add a ton of themes to the backup server, regardless of whether they were qc approved or not. the result was wildly popular; there was more mafia being played on a consistent basis (2 nights in a row of several hours!) and more fun than there had been in months. why don't we just do this on main? the playerbase is nearly gone and at this point just getting a steady stream of games is a success, so why don't we just drop the pretense of having to have themes approved and just add pretty much anything the players want?
Partially agreeing there. A QC process is still important (even if only to remove the actual crappy stuff), but what I have always asked is for QC to allow non-mafia type of themes. After all, having people in #Mafia playing something other than Mafia is better than have nothing happening in the channel.
I think themes that would never, ever be approved by actual QC (ex. RNG, RNG2, Popularity) are actually the more fun themes because they are things you don't see normally. Playing all those themes was the most fun I've ever had playing mafia and I definitely think many of them should stay (except Chocolate, idk what I was thinking with that).
Just have some limit on the amount of "fun" teams, like they can't make up more than 20% of the current themes or some other arbitrary number. Also you could probably code in a flag for "funtheme": true; and have it so they can be filtered out and prevent 2 hours of playing just RNG/etc., allowing you to keep the mafia aspect of the channel.
Well, only thing I see happening is a bunch of Space Invader remakes. Also /roles mafia will kill your computer :x. But RNG is pretty much just there for the lolz. But yeah, there should be some kind of restrict on that.
Just having those themes actually being reviewed would be good enough (and by this, it could very well be an actual review AKA play first, rate it later). Nothing really strict, but some themes/variations like SI4, Rotom2 and EvoGame are not really necessary.
