The current Mafia QC system is extremely outdated, and I think it's time we get a new one. So many of the current QC members have quit, and the "current sMAs" aren't even sMAs anymore.

Themes like "Shop" should not be in review anymore. The only reason that is still in review is because someone gave it a 25/25 and RiceKirby wanted that to be changed, and the person who gave that review still hasn't done anything about it (and they are shown to be active on both the forums and the server).

I also think a lot of the current QC members don't take their positions seriously. When I asked someone if they could take a look at my theme, they told me they were still reviewing a theme with an inactive author and where the last post had been in November. If this is going to be the case, I think we should reconsider who are accepted as Mafia QC. I understand people are busy and that's fine, but I don't think people should use the excuse of not reviewing a theme because they are still "reviewing" an inactive theme.

In my honest opinion, the entire Cohesion/Craftmanship/Creativity reviewing system didn't really work well. I would often find QC being "lazy" and not wanting to give a full review on a theme.

Having QC members write out almost five paragraphs as to why they give a certain score on a theme doesn't really work out a lot, because a lot of the QC members probably wouldn't want to even type out all of that. I think the Approve [1] and Decline [1] systems worked much better, and they went a lot smoother. It also prevents things like what happened with Shop from happening again.

That's just my opinion, please don't say stuff like "Stop complaining and apply for QC", because I literally just gave evidence as to why things are moving so slowly. Me, or anybody else, applying for QC wouldn't make much of a difference.

tl;dr: Inactive QC members, outdated list of admins/reviewers, lame excuses, incredibly complex reviewing system, and themes that clearly work still in review after many months are why the QC system should be redone.

I see nothing wrong with the rating system, but that's a biased opinion since I was the one to suggest it in the first place.
But the thing is that QC is as slow as Mafia channel. Sure, the current system takes longer to get a review in, but if we had the same activity we had before (both at #Mafia and here) that would hardly be an issue.

There have been lots of crappy themes that got approved only "because they work". And lazy reviewers were around with the old decline/approve system too, and it was even worse because they had to use even lamer excuses to justify a 2 months delay on posting a single word.

I think the rating system could work if we actually had an active queue of Mafia QC, right now I only see a few people actually writing up reviews where they're supposed to. Right now, however, due to the inactivity of Mafia, there are less QC members, so I don't think a rating system like that has an active team of QC members in order to firmly be established.

Now, replacing all of the inactive QC members may work, because if there are more active reviewers, we will have faster reviews, themes will go by quicker, and activity could begin to surge up. And themes like Shop still won't be in review even when they clearly work.

Both systems have their flaws. Less active QC members for the current review system results in less reviews, themes being reviewed a lot slower, less activity. As I stated above, more active Mafia QC means more active players, and the current review system can work and go by a lot faster.

The old system had the flaw in which too many themes were being created and there weren't enough QC members (I'm talking about when ChaosPenguin and Hobbes11 were MAs) and so MAs were just adding random themes to the server to see if they would work. After that, they hired a bunch more of reviewers. Then the post-your-theme-in-the-review-section was added and so there were less themes being tested and more being declined/removed from the server. The overload of QCs resulted in laziness and basically caused scenarios of "if five people have already approved it, then I should probably approve it, too".

But that can easily be avoided if people were assigned specific themes to review, which isn't happening right now. And the reason for that is simply because we don't have enough active QC members to do so.

So, here's what I think: replace all the QC members who are inactive/aren't doing their job/aren't dedicated enough, assign people specific themes to review, and then your system can work. But without any active members, it just simply can't.

tl;dr: Hire new QC members, assign them specific themes, this will cause the current system to go by faster, yay mafia.

Also, while I don't think people should "threaten" Mafia QC to review their theme, I do think players should have the right to ask the QC to review their theme, and if the QC member gives a lame excuse, players should be allowed to point this out. It shouldn't be considered policing, either.

Replace QC with robots, as per the last will and testament of the late Fuzzy.
