First, download Qt Linguist. Then, tell me the two-letter code of the language you want to translate in (like: french is fr and english is en, japanese is jp, ...) and the language you want to translate in. Then, when i say its ok, download the source folder: go to https://github.com/po-devs/pokemon-online, and press the zip download button. In the downloaded folder, open the translation file with Qt Linguist (it should be located in trans/translation_xx.ts). Translate everything, confirm everything (you need to click on the green arrow to go to the next translation, anyway tutorials are available on the internet), and do file->release and create the .qm file. To test your translation, add your language to language.txt, put the .qm file in the same directory as Pokemon-Online, run it, change the language to yours, restart, and you'll see the changes. You can also translate moves and pokemon names and more stuff: open the db folder, see the files that contain english text, well in your trans/xx/db folder you can put the same files but translated (and only the lines that are translated if you didn't translate everything). See the trans/fr/ folder for example. Notes for translation with Qt Linguist: You'll see %1, %2, %3, ... This is actually data that will be replaced by, say, the name of a pokemon, of a trainer, ... Also the amperstand is placed before a shortcut letter, the one triggered when alt is pressed.
Here the German translation download me. Please report errors from the translations so can I fix it. Edit: Here is the latest version from the translations. download me I corrected spelling and grammatical errors.
Sorry =/ still no such file. Downloaded 7 times, refreshed my browser over and over again. nothing new. See for yourself, try to download it.
ok Well, natty2, i don't mean refresh your browser, but clear your cache. In the options of your browser. Or, maybe restarting your computer would help. Otherwise ask someone else to download it and it'll be fine ... And sonny, ok :)
Done the Hebrew translation. Tested. Done. Download it here. It would be the best if the program support Right-to-Left writing style.
Ok Maybe you would like to give me teh updated languages.txt as well. Because I don't know how to write "Hebrew" in Hebrew so I'll use english for the language name, and that's pretty sad :/
Update to Hebrew translation = ) I'm getting better with it ^_^ I think you might need to arrange the files.
Natty2, use Mediafire. I can't use Megaupload where I am. Also, in general, for people, please avoid posting a lot of versions with minor changes, please group the changes in a few versions.
Sorry coyotte =] I appriciate your time. The changes i have done are not minor ^_^ download from Mediafire. You know, you should add "Hebrew" at the list in the head post.
sure: http://www.pokemonvictoryroad.com/translation_it.qm as you can see, there are just some missing accelerators becouse of some impossible letters for italian translations. there are also a lot of accented letters. hope they don't cause any problem. (have you received my private message?)
Yes, I'm discussing your private message with someone else, I'm not the only one to make those decisions. And thanks, accents should work. I'm going to name the language as "Italiano", I hope it's correct.
yes it is. edit: there is a little mistake with accented letters here in team builder: (italian version, of course)
Well, you should have translated it with the proper accents instead of leaving it like that ;p Anyway I fixed it, download again.
my bad. there are also some more mistakes, i'm sorry. maybe i messed up everything containing "\n" (explanation needed). edit - and more things here: (even if i'm sure i translated "Ignore Spectators" to "Ignora Spettatori" :\ ) also there is a function of the new version that should be translated too: "Sort players by tier" -> "Ordina giocatori in base alla tier"
\n is a newline character. Place it anywhere that you want a carriage return: "Body Slam\n\nPotenza" would show up as: Body Slam Potenza Edit: As for why it's doing that.... I don't know >_<
Do you know what character encoding your files use? If there's a difference that might explain it. If it's not UNICODE-something or other then you should try changing it to that first. Is it multi-line in the english version? I don't think it is... it might be being taken as a string literal in the case which means your best bet would be to remove the \n and live with the traduction as-is.
i've just opened the already existing "translation_it.ts" with Qt Linguist, and i used "\n" in the translation only when it was present in the original version. I've never used Qt linguistic before, so maybe there is some special way to do it that i don't know :\ let's wait for coyotte508
No, you should put carriage returns. You may see '\n' in the source code, but in the shown text you sould see carriage returns. And in the text you're give to edit, you should see carriage returns too, not '\n'. Also, translate all the accents so it'll show up correctly. ^ An example to show you how you should translate (see french translation / italian translation) Also once you've finished it, you can test it (by replacing the .qm file with the one you just made), and when you've checked everything is alright, send both files again. Hope I've been understable :)
ok, edited. i tested the .qm file, so it should be fine now. http://www.pokemonvictoryroad.com/translation_it.ts http://www.pokemonvictoryroad.com/translation_it.qm "Sort players by tier" is the only line missing, since i can't find it in the .ts file.
The german version has some serious translation problems, it has two moves called "Psycho Cut" ("Psychoklinge") whereas one should be "Psychic" ("Psychokinese"). Also, there are two "Screech" ("Kreideschrei") where one should be "Secret Power" ("Geheimpower"). With the current setup, I always end up getting Psycho Cut on Alakazam which is just stupid :/ Edit: Nevermind, I did it myself ;) translation_de.ts translation_de.qm moes_de.txt
Alright. Just a quick question, did you use Sonny's file (which corrected a few mistakes) for the translation_de.ts ?
Unfortunately not everything is sourced from the translation file yet, there are still hard-coded phrases in there.
"Attack" is from stats.txt (db/stats) "fell" is in the translation file. Everything should be translatable, be it either with the translation files or the files in the db folder.
