I always wondered why I have found only 2 famous players of my country in Pokemon Online... Then I noticed that its not only in my country but in whole Asia and Africa and also in Australia to some extent... When I tried to find out why, I found that American and European people are more Porsche and have more free time as compared to other areas of world... My country life is full of Struggle and there is hardly any time for other activities... Even if they get time, they are so my brushed by their life that they lose their interests in these things... I wanna know from you all People as of why America and European users are more in Pokemon Online ? Is there any other reason that Asian and African users are lesser ? What possible things can be done in order to bring more people from other countries ?
Bringing affordable internet to the populations would be a start at getting people on Pokemon Online from "under-developed" countries. You realize many African and some Asian countries lack basic infrastructure in areas such as plumbing and electricity. The latter typically being required to power a computer to connect to the internet in the first place. Also Australia doesn't need a Pokemon Simulator. They can go out their back door and find a whole Safari Zone worth of fauna ready to kill them. Because it's Australia. Everything tries to kill you in Australia.
I think you just don't notice them. According to Google, the App for every 2.79 Americans using the app there is 1 person from Brazil/Mexico/India/South Korea. Over 22% of Players using the app are not from America or Europe... Very confused on what Porsche as an adjective even means, are we fast Germans? And even if Asian countries are developing. There are still more Indians with Internet Access than Americans. More than twice as many Chinese have access than to Americans. So it has to do more with interest, language barrier, and culture (eh and government firewalls).
I think we're missing the fact that Pokemon itself is less popular in many countries in Asia and Africa. I'm guessing Japan has its own simulator or something which is why their players don't come here. China doesn't have a large enough market for Pokemon to merit an official translation into the language, so there's no real reason for a simulator to be that much more popular. Basic infrastructure would be a requirement for countries that don't have it, yes, but Pokemon needs to regain its popularity in those regions. Pokemon never really recovered its popularity in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia issued a fatwa on it, essentially banning it all those 13 years ago. The ban was lifted, but the damage was done. I have no idea what can be done, within reason and within our limitations, to bring in people from other countries. If we want to keep them, maybe start by collectively not insulting people every time they use a different language??
I do remember a time in which the glorious box language used to storm Tohjo for large durations of time.
Actually there are a large number of players from outside America and Europe active on Po already.China and India have a huge number of players present here, you just gotta scroll down the player list on tohjo lol. I'll even say China and India make up a major part of the Po community, and that the contribution from India coulda been even larger,if not for the backward mentality of the people here lol. They have a habit of immediately branding Pokemon as childish and this suppresses most players here from revealing the fact that they actually play it (Seriously tho,Pokemonistan gets it.Even the theme song here is dubbed in Hindi..And god bless the Indian idioms they include in the dub every now and then!) Anyway,Asia still does make up a significant part of the community with a bunch of popular players too.Bayleef,Clarion,Pokemonistan himself;etc to name a few over the top of my head, and maybe soon enough you yourself my mate ^_^..You just gotta believe, lol.
Well tbh Nintendo itself has a very bad presence in India. I got my DS from a cousin from the US and am saving money to buy a 3DS online. As for that we do have many PO players from India (Me Me Me Me!) And from what I know lots of Indians have access to Internet via their phones and with smart phones being available at different price ranges at India it is not hard to install PO and play. However the "Pokémon is for kids" argument seems really wrong imo but most countries in Asia believes so.. and the Pokémon anime is also not being shown properly lol (Pokémon seasons 1 to so on is in Hindi and the dub is well.. well.. And Pokémon BW is shown at CN at times I usually do other things and no sign of XY either) Also pokémon first telecasted in India/Pakistan during 2003 which is too late for us (._.) And I got my first game at 2007. The new toy syndrome in India was really relevant as it made Pokémon, Bakugan and Beyblade a hype but slowly all was forgotten.. IMO very few people actually stayed with Pokemon which is why I believe Pokémon is not showing any presence here. Also Vivo did you mean posh? And dude your ellipses.. do you have chat asthma? And yes @Fuzzysqurl is right btw, one does not simply jump in tall grass unless you are Steve Irwin. Better grab my repels and Poke balls and move there. I have Koalas to catch.
Depends Google Play needs to stop moaning about copyright The Apple version has to be updated PLEASE SAVE THE WEBCLIENT!!!
Here in South Africa people rarely know of pokemon due to the lack of exposure / advertising to pokemon and Nintendo as a whole. The pokemon games would generally take forever to get here and the anime is seldomly on TV, and if it is on it's like the first gen that gets repeated. There's no VGC, other events etc. here in RSA mostly due to the lack of playerbase cause know one know of pokemon. But yeah, RSA has a beter infrastructure than most African countries. So there is no lack of technology. Pokemon and Nintendo just need to be more advertised lol. I don't know I might be wrong but speaking from my experiences when I was a child. I know like 2 other people from RSA here lol.
People keep saying that Pokémon is mistakenly seen as childish. The one problem with this - coming from a hardened pokemaniac - is that it IS childish and that is why we all love it. If it was just a boring grownup version of reality it would suck. Also even me from my cushy life knows that even in the UK there are people who can't afford expensive games consoles so how much worse must it be in countries where many people cannot afford food let alone luxuries. Until world poverty is at least partially solved I think the body of players from less fortunate countries will remain small.
