Yes, Cosa is up, but I believe this dives a lot deeper into Forum Mafia than Cosa does. http://hastebin.com/dopuyedeze.dos It's nothing too fancy, but I've added a Moderator in another earlier version (can change the setup from open to closed and vice versa) and also has a mod (day) kill and can't die, because you kind of literally ru(i)n the game. This theme is based on Forum Mafia lol, but incorporates a great level of checks and balances. Mafia essentially is a lot more buff, but there are only three sides thus far. Mafia has a Healblocker, which does exactly what the role suggests: block heals. This means Jailkeeper, Firefighter, Doctor and Faith Healer (all very important PRs) are moot when something is blocked by Mafia Healblocker. Mafia roles are now more anti-meta than anything, especially with the Vampire. Werewolves, our final faction, has only two roles: a basic Werewolf and an Ascetic Werewolf. For those of you who don't know, the Ascetic WW is immune to all night actions except nightkills. Roles list: Town-aligned Vanilla Townie: basic villager Bulletproof: can't be nightkilled or daykilled Nurse: becomes a Doctor when the Doctor dies Backup: becomes the first PR to die Loved Townie: -1 voteshield Hated Townie: +1 voteshield Vampire: (town-aligned) when lynched, becomes Mafia Goon. This is a controversial role by design and I have no intention of removing it as of now. You shouldn't give PRs or information to villagers, and you can always ban offenders at the end of the game. Governor: -9999 votes. Cop: inspector ATF agent: determines whether or not the target has a gun Gunsmith: can make a Townie an Armed Townie and a Mafia a Mafia Strongman. (might make him be able to convert flavored townies, maybe even the Vampire, but for now he can only convert basic Mafia and Townies) Fisherman: can fish for a certain item, but have high fail chances associated with them (75-95% depending on how useful the item is) and can only carry one at a time (meaning that if Fisherman got a GPS but didn't use it, and successfully fishes for a vest, he'll get the vest and loses the GPS.) Doctor: bodyguard Faith Healer/Pastor: 50% fail chance protect Firefighter: prevents fires from happening (Mafia Arsonist) Roleblocker: distract (also has command roleblock, which literally does the same thing but using one cancels the other) Jailkeeper: roleblock + protect Doublevoter: vote of 2 Vigilante: nightkill Armed Townie/NRA alumni: knows other Armed Townies, and can kill someone during the night (shared with role) Mafia-aligned Mafia Goon: basic mafia Mafia Strongman: factional kill and kill2 twice per game (shared with role) that can pierce through protect and evasive modes) Mafia Arsonist: factional kill and /arson (poison) Mafia Healblocker: prevents a role from being protected, kept by jailkeeper or rescued by Fireman Mafia Doctor: factional kill and protect Mafia Godfather: can't be roleblocked (distracted) or investigated Werewolf-aligned Werewolf - basic kill Ascetic Werewolf - cannot be targetted by night actions other than kill Considered ideas/roles: Moderator: (refer to top of page) Tax Collector/IRS Agent: finds out the target's income (useless for now as income has no way to be uniformly interpreted, as some jobs in some countries pay more than in others, but could be incorporated). Initial recharge/recharge on Mafia Strongman's kill2 (that pierces bg and evasive modes) A daykiller (no Samurais whatsoever) possibly a Werewolf that inspects as a Townie too. No roles daykill at the moment but the Bulletproof avoids daykills Known issues: VCLR and spawn list is empty. I had it on a separate notepad file but it got lost somewhere. pardon my clumsiness. it also had spawn packs so keep on the edge of your seats children Vampire ---> Mafia Goon on lynch means Roleblocker can get the jump on Mafia, because his identity is essentially exposed
You don't actually expect anyone will give any opinion when you don't even bother writing a role list and explaining what the theme is about, do you?
I can't help but feel that this theme is Cosa+/an alternate Cosa. Mind explaining how it has its own base, because I'm picking up a SSBB/SSBB+ vibe atm.
What's controversial about Vampire? Village becoming Mafia is completely normal, what can cause trouble is Mafia going village. Why can't you name Mayor as Mayor? Doublevoter is a terribad name, and it may even confuse people into thinking it has a voteMultiplier. Do you realize how overpowered the village can become due to Gunsmith? You connect villagers and give them a kill, and the only downside is the possibility of Mafia gaining an extra kill too, which is easy to solve if you already have an Armed Townie to confirm that person is not sided with village. In Medieval, I had to impose lots of restrictions to make sure Recruiter wouldn't be OP. To be frank, there's not much going for this theme. The only somewhat interesting roles are Backup and Gunsmith, but even then it's not that great. Moderator could be interesting (and should be named Host imo), but that would only add a small twist to some games, the core wouldn't change that much. And please, don't use the Tips section for jokes. If you don't have anything to put there, just leave it empty so people won't waste time reading something they expected to be useful.
Might as well do that, you do bring up a good point. I'll bold the can. This is supposed to be a lot more power-role oriented than most mafia themes on the server, so there won't be many townies. In fact, I think Mafia might outnumber townies until I reach late medium/early big games (18-25~). But, the Gunsmith only works once per turn. It's not like the Armed Townie will know who the other villagers(assuming there's two or more) are unless they claim or are assisted by the Cop (but then again, that also has checks in the form of Godfather and WW Ascetic and whatnot). Besides, all it takes is ATF Agent to inspect him and he'll be forced to claim. I would like to know why you think that, imo you haven't provided a good reason for why it doesn't have much going for it aside from the aforementioned argument
If they get role-reveal on each other, you are already potentially connecting 3 village roles (The 2 armed townies + Gunsmith), with a bonus of making Gunsmith able to find Mafia (since the 2 armed townies won't get reveal on Mafia Strongman). And that's not to say about those villagers gaining a kill. I'm pretty sure I did: Although thinking back, even Backup is not that big of a deal, so I'd say the only somewhat interesting roles are Gunsmith and ATF Agent. If you want a different reason, refer to Joey's post, since I agree with him that this is overlapping way too much with Cosa. On its own this theme could maybe work, but with Cosa around it doesn't offer much.
