HGSS references it as antimatter I believe. As a matter of fact: "In interviews Junichi Masuda and Takeshi Kawachimaru did for G4, it was said that Giratina and its Distortion World were created to be personifications of antimatter; this is bluntly stated and confirmed in HeartGold and SoulSilver by Cynthia. "
"Between life and death" doesn't even fit in with "space and time". And I got that from HGSS, as Jibaku said. It's IN the game.
New images showing, what I wanted most, a female professor. There are also some pretty cool pokemon and some weird looking ones.
I swear to god, if I don't turn up and chat up that female Professor I'm gonna be so *this part of the sentence has been removed for your protection children. You can thank me later*! Nice to see the obligatory HM slave and bird. Nice to see a redo of Magnemite. Nice to... actually, I don't like the look of anything other than the cogs one. Oak confirms it here: 5th Gen is gonna kill off Pokemon.
The cogs thing looks.... bleh. I've always liked the concept of pokemon that evolve by combining their bodies... but this strikes me too much like Magnemite. It appears they have a cog-flavored attack though. I knew they were running out of ideas for birds.... we're back to pidgeons again. And of course there's always the obligatory Pikachu remake... looks like a normal type this time. I guess considering Pikachu/Pachirisuu/Marril etc have always been rodents that makes a stunning amount of sense. The bottom pokes look potentially like no-evo pokemon to replace Magmar and Electabuzz with dual-types, my guesses are Fighting/Fire (overdone), Lightning/Dark (Interesting) and ground/dark (also interesting) but I could easily be wrong and they could all be mono-types. Glad to see Apple made the new Pokedex. I'm not feeling it either, but it's rarely worth getting excited over the pokemon in starter areas anyways, so I'll reserve judgement. (Then again, I wasn't all that happy with Zekrom/Reshiram either.)
I bet the professor's name will be either Willow or Maple in the US Version. Keep the Professors in the Trees.
That puts a funny image in my head. Anyway, I can't help but feel this news only hurts Nintendo's marketing plo... er, strategy. No - one seems to like them. But as Akusu said, nobody ever likes new pokemon, I'm sure they'll grow on us after time. Besides, it's the sexy evolutions that count. And to be honest, I'm more interested in gameplay developments. *Still anxiosly waiting for Dunsparce stat bumps*
I am actually loving this new region because of the many new regions this game offers. I am digging the desert and the huge city and not to mention the ferris wheel in the Carnival area.
I was hoping for dragon Dark and dragon psychic, but ill make a guess here... Dragon/Electric Dragon/Ice Thats my guess.
Dragon/Fire? Weak to.... rock... dragon... hrm. 4x resist to fire.... weird combination. Be interesting to see how it might play out.
If this turns out to be true, Kioku was really right. Unresisted STAB comination bar Heatran, I think I have a good idea how will it play out.
Merged the two Black/White discussion threads so interested users don't have to check two threads which is kind of nonsensical.
Really? It's kind of annoying the way they didn't tailor the design to match that. I mean, they coulda snuck little flame effects on the fire guy or something.
First of all, that rat thing isn't a new Pikachu, it's a new Rattata probably. And my favorite Rattata since Sentret. :D The gator thing is epic too, looks like it'll be a more offensive, Sand Stream-less Hippow. Other than that this new batch of Pokemon looks horrible (from a non-competitive standpoint, of course.) I mean seriously, gears? Floating f***in' gears? With faces? That's the best you guys can do? That's one of the Pokemon you've decided will be best to get you publicity? Possibly the worst things I've ever seen. -.- I made better Pokemon when I was five. *eyes finally make their way to the right side of the page* Well, hell-ooooo, Professor.
People seem to have their nostalgia goggles on too tight. Yeah, that's ridiculous. Something like floating magnets with eyes isn't. You're no longer 12. You grew up, but the game didn't. The designs aren't going to have the same charm. A lot of the first ones had admittedly pretty stupid designs.
Actually you illustrate my point. Magneton was technically just floating magnets, but they designed it well and made it look unique. What if Magnemite had literally just been one floating magnet? Not as cool. If they had managed to put a bunch of gears together in an interesting way, we'd have an awesome clockwork Pokemon, but instead we have two floating gears with faces.
I like the ability of the alligator. Overconfident, i think it's called. Raising attack after taking down a pokemon is pretty nice. Too bad it has pretty bad typing and will probably have below-average stats.
I like the gears. You can arrange all their facial features in any way and it would still make sense [/childish nonsense] I have this odd feeling it'll evolve into a clock, and its ability is that it can manipulate time somehow. Maybe they activate trick room on entry? *holds breath*
NOOO! I hate trickroom. it´s just annoying -_- i´m hoping Reshis ability is Motor drive for Fire with a 2+ boost and Zekroms is Flash fire for electric with 2+ on his primary attack stat. Also both should get earthpower for unresisted coverage, and i hope both are in both games, ike in G/S.
You might want to check out Smogon's created Pokemon Colossoil, which is also of the Dark/Ground typing. As Colossoil proves, it's typing is actually very good. If it gets decent stats (an evo, perhaps?) then it will be awesome.
There's no reason it can't be both. Ever since Yellow, the Pikachu of that generation has been featured as the pokemon that the professor brings out to demonstrate what a pokemon is. If it wasn't obvious before, the in-game shot of that part confirms it for me. I'd be interested actually in seeing what (if anything) it evolves into, and it would be nice to see if it could be used effectively... an OU Pikachu is sorely overdue. The best attempt was Azumarill but that ended up being UU and it was only viable after they gave it an ability.
Ah but, fire is one of the worst defensvie types in the game, if if has levitate: Rock weakness, dragon Weakness, 2 common attacking types even in OU. If it doesn't, we add a ground weakness. Dragon electric has 3 weaknesses, dragon, ice and ground, if it has levi, thats 2. The advantage of this one is that most waters that can icebeam it will not like a thunderbolt. What this will need to watch out for is deoxys as usual, a lot of them have ice punch.
I love how easy it is to tell that Zekrom and Reshiram are ubers already. As long as it appears on a game box and has a Pokedex number higher than 151, it's pretty much a guarantee.
Raikou, Suicune and Entei are on the game box for Pokemon Colosseum and Torterra, Empoleon and Infernape are on the game box for Pokemon Battle Revolution. I know you meant the handheld RPG games, but I felt that I had to point this out... especially seeing as Suicune is on the game box for Crystal.
And the cune thing is right, it was on the crystal box. And i´m a bit pissed that they didnt show anything at the E3, but as i said, the conference was superepic enough.
I don't see where you get this, unless it's a joke On the originality of the pokemon, I can think of some first generation ones that people loved. Weezing? A floating poison baglike thing connected to other smaller poison baglike things? Basically what I'm saying is that I see some of these pictures look wierd, but didn't you think pokemon like onix were weird when you first saw them? It's a rock snake!
Yes, it looks like an iPhone. I didn't like Weezing until Gen 3, when a bunch of stuff fell into place to make him a powerhouse... he's mediocre as a defensive pokemon now.
Meh, it doesnt have enough screen for me to consider it an iPhone look alike, but i see where youre coming from.
I'm honestly pumped to see what else gen 5 has to bring. As for the designs of the pokemon for gen 5, several things have been said against them. However, let me point out some designs of pokemon from gen 1, what is glorified as the "golden age" by most. Along with gen 2, of course. Electrode: it's a pokeball upside down. Very creative. Voltorb is a pokeball. Geodude: Pebble with arms. No one complains or complained about that. Graveler is just a rock with 4 arms. Magmar: Honestly, if this was in the next gen, what would you make of it? Jynx: same deal, but more of a WTF factor. There are more pokemon I could point out, but I'm too lazy. They were creative back then, but they still had pretty simple and crazy designs. Plus, most of the pokes shown are most likely just first evolutions, they may or may not look better as they evolve. You've gotta give it a chance.
I'm surprised no one has updated this yet with the new info: http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml As you can see their are a few new Pokemon except you can only see some from the back, unfortunatly. There also seems to be a new triple battle system which looks interesting. Personally, I like the sarcophacus/coffin and the furry blue and yellow metagross lookalike, but the others seem a bit overdone imo. I get the impression that the armoured spikey dinosaur thing might be a legendary, he sorta looks like what you'd get if you mixed Giratina and Aggron.
I just found this today, got me laughing for a good 10 minutes: http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8456/284ild.png Basically, take gen 1's pokemon and imagine if they were just being released in newsletters/announcements. Surprised Jynx wasn't on there.
So true. All the people who like the (for the most part...well uninspired) old pokemon so much that they bash everything new that looks different. EDIT: New Pokemon, Mamanbō, Revealed on ‘Oha Suta’
Giratina is anti matter and that's how he fits into the time and space thing Back to pokemon Black and white the current antagonist iis n who wants to seperate pokemon and humans (like seperating Ying and Yang) I think that the white one looks more technological and is going to be the human representative in this. And what do you think is better, the White forest or the black city (exclusive areas to pokemon black and white)
