Talk about anything related to SSB4, such as gameplay, characters, strategies, etc.

As far as my opinion goes, I feel like the Wii Fit Trainer, Greninja, and Samus are going to be quite good. WFT and samus have very good smash ball abilities as well as solid speed and Greninja has outstanding speed (based on tournament play vids I've seen :])

I got to play a match on the demo today and the controls felt a bit difficult (imo)

The DS controls aren't to bad imo. For me, special attacks are harder to use and I get grabs and dodges mixed up, but I'm liking it so far.

Back in the melee days I used to main Link and Marth, and bot has Link improved. His dash attack now has some pretty hefty launching power, something Link was sorely missing, and his downward air attack is now a METEOR SMASH in the first few frames. They also made it to where Link has flinch resistance when charging his spin slash on the ground, plus the initial strike from the spin slash has more launching power than in the past, meaning you've got a great damaging move at low damage.

I'm really loving some of the new items. The fire sword thing is great and the bellows thing from minish cap/skyward sword is a hilarious troll item. I recently got Arceus from a pokeball, I was expecting something epic, but its attack is a little underwhelming, ah well. Then there are some new items that are pretty much instant death to a player which are cool. Oh and there's the fairy bottle which is a weapon that can break and heal the opponent, which I've found fun.

Megaman is the most ranged character in smash ever tbh.

@Afro Smash you scrub. I already beat three lv 9's at the same time. Get on my level bro.

Imma say it again, Link got way to much love this time, I'm only having real problems against lv 9 Pikachu and that's just because Pikachu is a gay character in smash imo.

I am so looking forward to this game, it looks awesome. My Brawl main Lucas is almost certainly gone, so I'll have to find a new one. Robin's the character I'm most looking forward to trying out, as I loved Fire Emblem Awakening and he/she looks like a really cool original character. Megaman, Palutena and Geninja all look promising too.

Smash Bros 3DS & Wii-U (yes I'm getting both), Hyrule Warriors, Alpha Sapphire, Xenoblade X and possibly Beyonetta 2 means my wallet is going to take a pounding...

I'm just so fucking glad I don't have to buy a nintendo console to get the the awesomeness that is Smash. Also looking forward to hopefully getting into online multiplayer for pretty much the first time ever (my experience with Brawl wasn't great, could pretty much never find a game without lagging out, although I didn't really try it much). I really liked Ike in brawl, but idk who I'll main this time around

I'm getting the Demo now. I've asked a friend to mail custom buttons specifically for Smash. A metal C-pad to prevent breaking because hype.

All I can say is... GO LUIGI! Even though the year of Luigi was 2013... It doesn't mean he won't get spotlight. I also think Little Mac will be pretty good

I wanna know what everyone's mains are gonna be when the game comes out. For me definitely Wii Fit Trainer and maybe Game & Watch if he isn't too nerfed. Maybe Villager too

Shulk is definitely going to be my main. He seems like a really fun character to play as with all of his modes and stuff. I might also play as Ike/Lucina cause Fire Emblem is the best.

Probably Robin, but there's a handful I really want to try. Rosalina looks very interesting, and Greninja, Charizard and Palutena all look solid. It doesn't seem like there are going to be any duffers in Smash 4 - even Link, who was shit in Brawl, is now really good.

Why is Link "really good"? Because his dash attack is a killing move?

mario is the most fun character in the demo and one out of few characters overall with some resemblance of combos as it seems. incredible amounts of aerial landing lag makes the combo game for most characters very dumb though.

He's better in pretty much every way - he's faster, jumps higher, he's got a meteor smash now, his bombs, boomerang and arrows have been buffed and he can actually recover now. Of the characters in the demo, I enjoyed using him most.

Almost everything Link has has been buffed hugely - the dash attack being a killing move (one that requires a read, nonetheless) helps though. Tether grabs got buffed, he got generally faster. His dair got a meteor smash, his fsmash and ftilt are stronger, he got less landing lag overall, his grab game is better spin attack is as strong as melee again, bombs hit harder (but have a weird trajectory), tornado pushes more and the boomerang hits harder, his shield blocks many projectiles in neutral games, etc. etc.

Mario does feel incredible to play in the demo, the speed and combo/juggle potential is strong. and you're overrating the landing lag hugely. there's actually very little, there's just a select few moves that have some.

Villager is kind of a weird mix between great KO potential and pretty annoying campiness. He feels fun to play but not to play against.

Well, I played the hell out of the demo. I kind of wish a few more stages were available to play on, even though yes, it is a demo, but whatever. I think Mario and the Villager were the most fun to play as. Mario feels so smooth and silky in SSB4. Everything with him just flows together and just works. Villager is a bit weird to play as, mainly because I'm not used to his moveset. It's a fun moveset to use, though, and his recovery is insane, almost Peach and Meta Knight tier recovery. Link has been buffed, but I don't really like playing as him so poop on Link. Pikachu has never been a character I've been comfortable with, but I would consider using him more often simply because the game plays much smoother. I'm excited to play as all the new characters when the game is released here in the good ol' USA C:

The only issue I have is the lack of L-Cancel. After playing Project M a lot, I began to miss L-Cancel a lot, and I now realize why it's so valuable.

I'd rather a faster game than a game where you have to make double the inputs at specific times to make it go faster. L-cancelling has nothing to do with skill or fun.

you press l (or r or z i think) at the right time after an aerial and it reduces the landing lag by half, it's present in 64 and melee but not brawl or smash 4
i don't care that it's not in smash 4 it just makes aerials a lot worse of an option since most of them have a decent amount of landing lag
also gib me dash dancing back i like being able to turn around fast

    Sick game.
    I like that I don't have to L Cancel.
Landing lag isn't all that bad, except on a couple moves.
Looking forward to main Lucario or maybe Sheik again. Depends how good they be.
Lil Mac is supposedly dicks. But I'm still looking forward to him.

I agree that L-canceling by itself is hardly necessary, but if it's not in, landing lag shouldn't be as heavy as it is (Nair with Pikachu has gone from great to terrible due to this).

I miss a lot of movement options. Dash dancing being removed is annoying. Landing lag being so high (except on the moves where you autocancel, which are hardly in the majority) is also frustrating. Being in shield is incredibly safe too. The competitive metagame will be much closer to Brawl than to Melee, by which I mean slower rather than faster, less combo-intense and more poking for small advantages.

Honestly aerials are only a worse option in smash 4 not for the landing lag but because most of them lack KO power. But they're seeming aces for juggling. Smash attacks are seeming really vital in the current game. Though a lot of characters back aerials are really strong.

I think people are too hasty to say "[x advanced technique]" has been removed. ATs are being discovered all the time. People just discovered Jump cancelled throw is back in SSB4 which definitely helps improve the speed of characters that use items (Mega Man, Peach, Diddy, others), for example.

I have returned and wanted to put my two cents out there. The blastlines are definitely larger, putting an emphasis on killing with Smash or Meteors/Spikes. Landing lag isn't too bad. Several characters got some well deserved buffs while others got well deserved nerfs. (looking at you, Meta Knight, but don't worry, he's still pretty good). It seems there is a better balance this time around.

Still looking for a way to match Little Mac on the ground with another character, but it looks like I'm going to have to fight him in the air.

I got the game the day after it released in the states and so far I really am liking Zero Suit Samus, Sonic, and Game&Watch.

ZSS is just all around really good with the Emergency Paralyzer and decent attacks giving tons of opportunities to start comboes and Samus is fast enough to move back quickly after a combo sometimes giving a chance to use the Emergency Paralyzer again.

Sonic isnt as good as it is just fitting my playstyle by attacking quickly and then getting away.

Game&Watch has a really annoying neutral b/neutral a and decent firepower after dishing out previous damage.

I also like Duck Hunt and Zelda but they arent that good.

    (im a ssb novice)

Bought the game on day one, loving it so far. My main from Brawl (Lucas) has been dropped, so I'm having to find another. So far contenders are Rosalina, Robin and Mii Sword Fighter.

Rosalina is a really interesting and unique character. She's like a non shitty version of the Ice Climbers. I love getting combos back and forth with my Luma, and overall she's quite powerful and reasonably fast. She is light and tall though, so presents a big target. She takes time to get used to, but it's worth it.

Robin is a character I wanted to try ever since (s)he was revealed, and (s)he doesn't disappoint. (S)he is a more well rounded fighter than the other Fire Emblem characters, since he's actually got projectiles. Generally I like to charge a max Thoron when I can, whittle the opponents down and then throw in a surprise Thoron.

Mii Sword Fighter is awesome, although since my guy is average height and weight he lacks a decisive knockout move. Also, his recovery could be better. I have Blade Flurry, Chakram, Skyward Slash Dash and Reversal Slash as the special moves. SF seems to be the mid ground between Brawler and Gunner.

I'd like to know what you guys did with your Miis (if anything).

Just made a Mii Gunner and he's pretty ballin I won't lie, he's really hard to approach has pretty powerful smash attacks, as well as good recovery.

    I'm using:
    Neutral B - Grenade Launch
    Side B - Stealth Burst (Zelda's Side B)
Down B - Absorbing Vortex (Absorbs projectiles and turns them into health)
    Up B - Lunar Launch

I've tried Brawler and Sword fighter and they're decent but I think Gunner is better

I've heard really good things about SSB4 and as Isa/Aurist know, I'll be buying a 3DS for ORAS and SSB4 (getting it same day as 3DS cuz $$$) so I will request most of your friendcodes n_n

I hear SSB4 has been a lot kinder to the big heavy hitters, mainly Bowser, I saw some gameplay and Bowser looks much more agile and quick but still hits with the same power. Also when over 100% you have farther Knockback which is pretty cool. I'm really excited to relive my childhood and get this game oo

I've tried gunner, just can't get a hang of them. I like the brawlers cause of their excessive amount of multi-hit moves and high versatility, working well with all 3 stats. What kind of badges do you use on a gunner?

I made quite a few miis, but pretty much waiting till I get OP badges to make the best possible ones. Currently have my Mii (Brawler), Naruto (Brawler), Sasuke (Sword), Rock Lee (Brawler) and Professor Oak (Gunner) because why not.

My Mii is Defensive/Attack, really low speed.
Naruto is High Speed/Some Attack, really low defense.
    Sasuke is all around.
Rock Lee is High Attack/Some Speed.
And Oak is the one idk what to do with. Can't get my heard around the Gunners tbh, have him as a big Defense badge and some speed/attack to stop any of them going negative.

Don't have my DS on hand but I can get their specials for you if you want.
