    Come up with Mega Evolutions for a Pokemon - but completely change how they function from a competitive standpoint. The further away from the original Pokemon the better. I wanna see really unique and strange builds that still befit a Mega Evo. And I'd rather not see lazy builds where you just give a special attacker huge power or whatever.

    Standard rules for how to build a mega evo:

    • Total increase of 100 BST
    • Stats can be decreased or increased
    • HP stat always stays the same
    • The primary type of the Pokemon does not change
    • The secondary type of the Pokemon can change
    • The movepool of the Pokemon stays the same - but some slight adjustments may be made (e.g. how Heracross got multi-hit moves as Start moves to fit the Skill Link ability it got)
    • No custom abilities or moves - just work with what already exists in the game
    Example:

    Mega Pelipper
    Water/Flying
    Ability: Drizzle

    HP: 60
    Atk: 50
    Def: 95
    SAtk: 145
    SDef: 75
    Spe: 105

    Moveset Idea:

    Pelipper @ Pelipperite
    Trait: Keen Eye (Drizzle)
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Hurricane
    - Hydro Pump
    - U-turn
    - Defog / Roost

    If you're feeling gutsy, you can use Shell Smash. Just keep in mind that virtually any attack will kill it.

    Was gonna do Mega Stunfisk but literally the only possibilities are a bad Hippowdon and a Swampert clone :[ (or some generic-ass special attacker with a bad movepool)

    Mega Weavile
    Dark/Fairy
    Trait: Pressure -> Simple
    HP: 70
    Attack: 120 -> 90 (-30)

    Weavile @ God Rock (Cro EVs, Bold)
    - Calm Mind
    - Dark Pulse
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk
    or
    Weavile @ God Rock (252/252 Timid)
    - Nasty Plot
    - Dark Pulse
    - Moonblast
    - Surf/Some shit idk that Dual Stab is 2good anyway.

    I'm bad at making actual sets and stuff, but let's make Clefable more annoying.

    Mega Clefable
    Type: Fairy/Fighting
    Ability: No Guard
    HP: 95
    Attack: 70 -> 130
    Defense: 73 -> 103
    Special Attack: 95 -> 75
    Special Defense: 90 -> 100
    Speed: 60 -> 80

    Clefable @ Clefablite
    Trait: Unaware/Magic Guard (No Guard)
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature
    - Dynamic Punch
    - Play Rough
    - Soft-boiled / Wish
    - METEOR MASH / Knock Off

    Just pretend Dynamic Punch and Play Rough are now level up moves and the last two moves are whatever. Maybe a more defensive spread could work but eh. Also Meteor Mash with full accuracy.

    MEGA DRUDDIGON
    Dragon/Flying
    HP: 77
    Atk: 120 -> 60 (-60)
    Def: 90 -> 80 (-10)
    SAtk: 60 -> 161 (+101)
    SDef: 90 -> 100 (+10)
    Spd: 48 -> 107 (+59)

    Druddigon @ Druddigonite
    Trait: Rough Skin (Sheer Force)
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
    - Flamethrower
    - Focus Blast
    - Sludge Bomb

    Sheer Force isn't seen very often on Druddigon, but Mega Druddigon puts the ability to good use with its massive increases in Speed and Special Attack. Druddigon transforms from a tank into a fearsome wallbreaker/special sweeper and challenges Landorus-I for the title of OU's premier Sheer Force abuser.

    Let's see...what if Mega Flygon was made more like a bigger, bulkier Trapinch? I'm not sure what Flygon actually does, so I'm just guessing :P

    Mega Flygon

    Ability: Arena Trap
    HP: 80
    Atk: 100 -> 167 (+67)
    Def: 80 -> 145 (+65)
    SAtk: 80 -> 91 (+11)
    SDef: 80 -> 105 (+25)
    Spd: 100 -> 32 (-68)
    + Smack Down

    Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
    - Earthquake
    - Outrage
    - Smack Down
    - Fire Blast

    It does stuff in Trick Room

    Hmmm interesting.

    Transforming Tropius from a mediocre SubSeeder into an awesome sweeper.

    Tropius - Mega Tropius
    New type: Grass / Dragon
    New ability: Drought
    New moves: Power Whip, Dragon Claw, Weather Ball, Dragon Pulse
    Base Stats:
    HP: 99 - 99
    Attack: 68 < 118 (+50)
    Defence: 83 > 53 (-30)
    Special Attack: 72 < 112 (+50)
    Special Defence: 87 > 47 (-40)
    Speed: 51 < 121 (+70)

    I was hoping Mew would get a mega - after all, Mewtwo got 2. So now I'm going to give Mew 2.

    Mew X
    Type: Psychic / Fairy
    Ability: Filter
    Stats:
    HP: 100 - 100
    Attack: 100 - 80 (-20)
    Defence: 100 - 180 (+80)
    Special Attack: 100 - 80 (-20)
    Special Defence: 100 - 180 (+80)
    Speed: 100 - 80 (-20)

    Forget Skarmory, forget Gliscor - this is the wall to end all walls!

    Mew Y
    Type: Psychic
    Ability: Protean
    Stats:
    HP: 100 - 100
    Attack: 100 - 140 (+40)
    Defence: 100 - 85 (-15)
    Special Attack: 100 - 140 (+40)
    Special Defence: 100 - 85 (-15)
    Speed: 100 - 150 (+50)

    Now an awesome sweeper!

    Noctowl is hard to work with, so it got Chatter to be more annoying, and I wanted to make a super gimmicky set. Hypnosis/Chatter/Roost/Heat Wave or something probably works better, but that's no fun.

    lot's of bulk thanks to great HP, sets up rocks, decent typing with some bulk and power behind it.

    Also, @Fuzzysqurl you not giving cresselia fairy typing is a travesty.

    Max SAtk for as much power as possible to maximize Heatmor's powerful attack options.
    The rest is used for HP, apart from 4 is used in Special Defense so that Heatmor's HP isn't divisible by 4 and Porygons obtain a physical boost instead of a special boost.

    - HP Fire / Psychic
    - Calm Mind

    The problem for fairy type sweepers are steel, poison and fire mons, but Mega Claydol don't have this problem, Earth Power smash them all!
    Already being a bulky mon in its normal form, with good defenses, immunity to Thunder Wave and dont caring about hazards, in its mega form Claydol speed ties with Weavile and its spe. attack + Calm Mind + Simple ability makes it a fearsome sweeper.
    Calm Mind to boost, Moonblast and Earth Power are obv Stabs and the last slot is for what you need: HP fire for Ferrothorn, Skarmory and friends or Psychic to take on EP resistant poison mons *cough megasaur cough*

    Too much minmaxing... >_>
    Minmaxing is the coward's way out >:|
    Some fun thoughts I had while I was dozing off, a couple regarding changes to existing Megas.

    For example, I thought it was a bit of a travesty what they made Medgeot into, since it could've been so much better if it hadn't tried to directly compete with about every other offensive burd ever. IMO, it would've been much better as a defensive bird--but a defensive bird with priority. Gale Wings would give Pidgeot immense defensive utility, with Roost, Defog, and Featherdance all benefiting from priority. In a pinch, it could even strike down weakened enemies with a priority Brave Bird.
    Ability: Keen Eye/Big Pecks/Tangled Feet>Gale Wings
    HP: 83
    ATK: 80>100 +20
    DEF: 75>115 +40
    Sp. ATK: 70>65 -5
    Sp. DEF: 70>115 +45
    Speed: 101>101 +0
    Type: Normal/Flying>Normal/Flying
    Pidgeot @ Stone
    Ability: Big Pecks>Gale Wings
    252 HP/256 defensive stats Careful/Impish
    Roost
    Defog/Featherdance
    U-Turn
    Brave Bird

    This one ties in with my next one, but IMO it's a bit of a waste that they gave Salamence Aerilate. Sure, Aerilated Returns, Double-Edges, and Thrashes are great for obliterating stuff, but it doesn't really do much that a half-dozen other Pokemon couldn't if you gave them Aerilate. There are 2 approaches I'd take instead; I'll go with the latter conception, of Guts. It would come with the benefit of being both not as reliable as Aerilate yet also making it somehow even more broken by turning status into an ineffective response, and it would make the Mega mindgames even more interesting--is it Mega or not? Do I Will-o-Wisp or not? Should I Mega this turn, or keep that Intimidate for a while longer?
    Ability: Intimidate/Moxie>Guts
    HP: 95
    ATK: 135>145 +10
    DEF: 80>130 +50
    Sp. ATK: 110>110 +0
    Sp. DEF: 80>100 +20
    Speed: 100>120 +20

    Salamence @ Stone
    Ability: Intimidate>Guts

    252 HP/252 Speed or defensive stats/4 dump Jolly, Careful, or Impish
    Rest
    Sleep Talk
    Outrage/Aerial Ace
    Earthquake/Fire Fang/Dragon Dance
    The other 2 sets are admittedly more of the same, but this is where the real fun would be. A simple change from offensive Mence to defensive Mence in a Mega would be pretty boring IMO and require more minmaxing than I'd be cool with, but with this change (and barely any stat changes) you could legitimately run a Resttalk Mence. Don't want to wait for your Guts boost? Activate it yourself, and fully heal yourself in the process.

    As I mentioned in the theorymon thread, the Dragon/Flying pseuber that ACTUALLY should have gotten Aerilate is definitely Dragonite, for one reason and one reason only: Aerilate Extremespeed. Not only can you use your Multiscale to setup initially, but once you Mega Evolve out of it you are near impossible to revenge kill, and your priority move functions as a strong coverage and STAB move in its own right! Admittedly, this doesn't change its playstyle at all, it's basically just wish fulfillment on my part. :P

    HP Ice or Rock or Ground depending on whether you want to hit dragons or fire types, but fire types will get destroyed by Flash Fire Fire Blast in the sun.

    HP: 100
    Atk: 50 -> 70 (+20)
    Def: 80 -> 100 (+20)
    SAtk: 60 -> 90 (+30)
    SDef: 80 -> 110 (+30)
    Spd: 50

    Azumarill @ Azumarinite
    Trait: Sap Sipper (Fur Coat)
    EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 SDef
    Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
    - Scald
    - Dazzling Gleam
    - Rest / Knock Off
    - Sleep Talk / Toxic

    Azumarill loses its double Attack but gains double Defense with Fur Coat, becoming a physically defensive behemoth. The EVs can be tailored to better handle physical or special threats depending on your team. It's got a pretty shallow movepool but with amazing typing and godly defenses it's well worth a team slot.

    EVs: 120 Atk / 138 SpAtk / 252 Speed
    Naughty Nature (+ Atk - SpDef)
    - Protect
    - Gyro Ball/ Electro Ball
    - Sucker Punch /Explosion
    - Toxic/ Taunt

    Well,Electrode is known as useless pokemon before but with this mega evolution this pokemon is becoming pretty much useful, with 150 speed + speed boost this pokemon is really fast pokemon, with standard move poll for speed boost which is protect it can give taunt and toxic to the foe faster
    sucker punch + 110 Atk is strong enough to finish foe ( with low Hp) and can weaken full Hp pokemon ( except pokemon that have massive Defense and resist dark), gyro ball and electro ball is quite useful (because both move affected by user speed) and explosion is a choice for kamikazes.

    - Volt Tackle
    - Knock Off
    - Protect/Substitute/Extreme Speed/Fake Out
    - Brick Break/Focus Punch/HP Fire/HP Ice/Encore/Volt Switch

    Physical Raichu, with Hustle and speed, and a whole new typing to boot. Volt Tackle is the primary STAB, with high damage. Just watch for recoil. Knock Off is known by everyone and is also a secondary STAB. The third attack is basically something to help you mega evolve. Extreme Speed helps beat random revenge killers. Brick Break "beats" like, Steelix or Excadrill, or even Ferrothorn I guess. It's there if you want. Focus Punch is a much stronger variant. HP Fire works with its still decent Special Attack to beat Ferrothorn, whilst Ice helps beat stuff like Landorus and Gliscor. Encore works well with such high speed. Use Volt Switch to help gain momentum. Just have fun missing, because Raichu has no moves to increase accuracy, despite such an impressive movepool outside of it.

    Infernape goes gorilla with its new found bulk.. Normal Increase in all stats make it into a competent player who can survive.. Drain Punch gives it a chance to survive plus it KOs Sableye and Spiritomb and Yeah Froslass. Thunder Punch in for the additional coverage while Knock Off knocks outs Lati@s and many other mons with low defenses and items on... It needs support for T-Flame and the occasional Scarf Drill.
