General Despite facing stiff competition from other Psychic-types such as Celebi, Meloetta and Azelf, Reuniclus has no trouble standing out from the pack. Its excellent base 125 Special Attack and good movepool means it can certainly bring the pain, and with 110/75/85 Defenses it's far from fragile. Reuniclus also has the distinct niche of being able to threaten multiple play styles with its different sets: with its Calm Mind set it turns most stall teams into cannon fodder, while its Trick Room set turns the tables on fast hyper-offensive teams. Magic Guard is an ability most Pokémon would long for, and Reuniclus makes good use of being able to ignore all passive damage. Reuniclus isn't perfect, however. Outside of Trick Room it is extremely slow, and courtesy of its pure Psychic typing it lacks type resistances. Despite its flaws, if your team needs a Psychic-type you should always consider it. Calm Mind Reuniclus @ Leftovers / Kee Berry Trait: Magic Guard EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Psyshock / Psychic - Focus Blast - Recover This set is designed to be a stall-breaker and bulky special sweeper. Calm Mind is the crux of this set, and is used to boost Reuniclus's Special Attack and Special Defense, making it more powerful and harder to take down. As for STABs, Psyshock is a useful tool should you find Reuniclus drawn into a Calm Mind war, while Psychic is more powerful. Focus Blast hits Dark and Steel-types that resist Reuniclus's STAB for super-effective damage. Recover keeps Reuniclus alive and healthy for longer, allowing it to bag more boosts. The EVs maximise Reuniclus's physical bulk, meaning it can grab more boosts. Leftovers are useful for passive recovery, while Kee Berry's Defense boost makes Reuniclus almost impossible to OHKO. Magic Guard is the chosen ability as being immune to Toxic damage allows Reuniclus to turn most walls into set-up fodder. Trick Room Reuniclus @ Life Orb Trait: Magic Guard EVs: 200 HP / 56 Def / 252 SAtk Quiet Nature (+Satk, -Spd) IVs: 0 Spd - Trick Room - Psychic / Psyshock - Focus Blast - Shadow Ball Turning Reuniclus's woeful Speed on its head, this set is meant to clean up late-game. Trick Room turns Reuniclus into a blisteringly fast sweeper for a few turns. As for STAB, go with Psychic if you prefer the extra power, Psyshock if you prefer to hit special walls harder. Focus Blast badly damages Dark and Steel-types that resist Reuniclus's STAB, while Shadow Ball hits Ghost-types and opposing Psychic-types for super-effective damage. The EVs maximise Reuniclus's power and buff its bulk considerably. With this set-up, Reuniclus can survive a Sucker Punch from Life Orb Zoroark. A Quiet nature is chosen to improve Reuniclus's power and reduce its Speed. A Life Orb is used to increase Reuniclus's power, and thanks to Magic Guard it has no recoil. Other Options A tank set with Recover and 3 attacks can be used. A Choice Specs set with Future Sight will hit like a freight train, but unfortunately it's just too unreliable: an opponent could easily just switch in a Dark-type on the turn Future Sight activates. Hidden Power Fire can be used on the Trick Room set to OHKO Escavalier that lack Assault Vest, but isn't that useful otherwise. You could run a Trick + Flame Orb set designed to cripple switch-ins like Escavalier, but it is very situational. If you don't need the passive recovery of Leftovers or the insurance of Kee Berry, a Life Orb can be used on the Calm Mind set for some extra power. A Colbur Berry could be used on the Trick Room set to survive a surprise Dark-type attack, although Life Orb's power is usually preferable. If you find Focus Blast too unreliable, Signal Beam can also be used to hit Dark-types and opposing Psychic-types, but it is much weaker than Focus Blast and means that Steel-types will resist its attacks with more ease. Check and Counters Assault Vest Escavalier is the best counter as it is able to survive any attack and OHKO with Megahorn. Faster Dark, Bug and Ghost-types like Zoroark, Mega Beedrill, (Mega) Sharpedo, Yanmega, Durant and Mismagius can OHKO an unboosted Reuniclus outside of Trick Room with their respective super-effective STABs. Meloetta can stall out the Trick Room set, but loses to the Calm Mind set if Reuniclus is utilising Psyshock. Milotic and Vaporeon can stall out the Trick Room turns, and can use Haze and Roar respectively to stop the Calm Mind set setting up.
where is kee berry that's literally the greatest item ever on reuniclus 100% serious 252 Atk Krookodile Knock Off vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 116-138 (27.3 - 32.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO escavalier and durant are the only common physical attackers that can actually 2hko it (unboosted attacks) when kee berry is activated cm set i think i would have psyshock / psychic as it's helpful for cm wars and stuff, only loses out vs hippo tbh. forretress isn't even lu, mechanics are changed hidden power is always 60 bp so you can run 0 speed iv. actually i would put hp fire in oo, durant has 75% chance to be ohko by shadow ball after rocks, ass vest escavalier can still take a hit, and that's really the only thing i can see it being useful for. 200 hp / 56 def / 252 satk will allow reuniclus to always take a sucker punch from zoroark idk why you're taking a smogon spread designed for their uu tier (if you can prove that it's useful in other ways feel free to say so). specs can be mentioned in oo, with future sight which is really nice cuz of damage buff and it can straight up cause problems i dont think mentioning energy ball or thunder is necessary, milotic can just haze away boosts vs cm set and it takes hits well vs lo set. vaporeon is setup fodder. dragon tail slowking isn't ever used, and dragon tail is a terrible move anyways meloetta loses to cm sets with psyshock mention yanmega, doublade, and sharpedo in c&c too
Made the suggested changes. When I tried using Trick Room Reuniclus, I just went for 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk. I used Smogon's spread because it avoids a OHKO from Life Orb Zoroark's Sucker Punch. I know Hidden Power always has 60 BP now, but I thought only certain IVs would give the right type and Fire IIRC had to have Speed in even numbers? Well it's been moved to OO anyway.
@Proof, @meeps, @Afro Smash I have made all of the suggested changes, and off the top of my head can think of nothing more to change/add to the Skeleton. So would you guys mind giving it a look over? Thanks in advance.
