Introduction: Hello and welcome to my second Ubers RMT. Considering the Ubers metagame is about to be shaken up if/when Smogon bans Gengarite, this seems like the appropriate time to RMT my favourite and arguably best XY Ubers team. I’ve been using this team ever since XY came out and it’s been widely successful. I peaked both PO’s and Showdown’s ladder with it. This is probably the only team I’ve consistently used during my 33-2 run as PO League gym leader as well. I’ve won the BST Limitation challenge with it and it’s also performed very well for me in various other tournaments, mainly on Smogon. The main reason I’m RMT’ing this team right now is because a lot of people have been / are using a variant of this team with Fairyceus > Tyranitar. I would like to take the credit for this team before something else takes credit for it, which actually happened to another Ubers team I RMT’d. Anyway, that’s more than enough talking about the team itself. The last thing I want to mention is the title, which refers to the amazing album Ghost Stories by Coldplay. I recommend listening to the songs while reading, but either way, enjoy! Team at a glance Under the microscope Ink (Kyogre) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Drizzle EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Water Spout - Scald - Ice Beam - Thunder Kyogre is by far the most important Pokémon on this team. It’s pretty unreal how much it does for this team. The most important job of them all is providing me with a winning condition. It allows me to finish matches, go on the offensive if I’m being pressured and just generally keep my opponent on their toes. Kyogre’s other big job is revenge killing. Pokémon like Mewtwo are notoriously hard to counter or even keep in check, but Kyogre takes care of that. You’d be surprised how easy it is to switch it in on a predicted Taunt which allows you not only to neutralize the threat, but also to potentially do some serious damage. Besides that, Kyogre is a fantastic partner to both Ferrothorn and Tentacruel. The set itself is fairly straightforward. I prefer Scald over Surf and the unreliable Hydro Pump, because getting the burn on Palkia or Grassceus turns them from stern counters to shaky checks in a heart beat. I see the road begin to climb I see your stars begin to shine I see your colours and I'm dying of thirst All I know Is that I love you so So much that it hurts Other's Arms (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 248 HP / 52 Def / 208 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Leech Seed - Spikes - Toxic - Gyro Ball Everyone who played BW2 Ubers knows how annoying Ferrothorn is. Even though it’s not getting as much usage as it did last gen, it’s still really damn annoying to deal with. With the massive Defog buff, it can’t really mindlessly use Spikes anymore, which has caused Toxic spam to rise as the premier form of Stall this generation. That doesn’t make Spikestack stall any less dangerous however. Defoggers are pretty easy to wear down between Toxic, hazard damage, potential sand or Leech Seed damage. Besides that, Ferrothorn still walls a huge amount of the Ubers metagame. It’s a fantastic check to Kyogre, Zekrom and almost all CM Arceus forms. The moveset is straight-forward while the SpDef EVs give me a jump point, the rest is dumbed into Defense to give me a small extra buffer on that side as well. Pull yourself into me Another's arms, another's arms Love means nothing to me Another's arms, another's arms Oceans (Tentacruel) (M) @ Black Sludge Trait: Rain Dish EVs: 240 HP / 16 Def / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Scald - Protect - Toxic Spikes - Rapid Spin This is probably the most uncommon Pokémon on this team, but boy does it work still. Tentacruel might actually work better in XY than it ever did in BW except for the fact that Drizzle got nerfed. Spinblockers have gone nearly extinct which makes getting rid of opposing hazards so much easier. Spinning actually isn't Tentacruel's most important task; setting up Toxic Spikes is. They're absolutely amazing in this meta, putting a timer on most Ubers threats. Defog Arceus especially have a tough time and I've won more than a couple of stallwars simply because Tspikes has more PP than Defog. Scald could easily be considered as one of the gayest moves in the game and mons that are immune to Poison damage typically hate to get burned. Clutch burns are never really a bad thing, even though there's a couple of mons you'd rather Toxic. The last moveslot is interchangeable. Haze is a pretty cool option, but I prefer Protect for scouting, healing and status stalling purposes. The EV spread gives you a Rain Dish number while maximimizing Special Defense. Behind the walls love I'm trying to change And I'm ready for it all love I'm ready for the change Meet me in blue sky Meet me again In the rain, the rain, the rain Midnight (Giratina) @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Rest - Sleep Talk - Will-O-Wisp - Roar Giratina completes the throwback Rain stall core. It's yet another mon that has lost some of its glance compared to last generation, but it remains one of the sturdiest walls in the game. It stands firm against big physical threats such as Blaziken, Ekiller, Groudon and Ho-Oh. Besides that it can act as an emergency check to Kyogre, especially Choice Specs variants who get their Water Spout PP drained so Ferro and Tenta can take it on later. Roar is fantastic for phasing out immediate threats and it's sometimes my most powerful attack if sufficient hazards are up. Even though Dragon Tail would make me less prone to Taunt, I still prefer Roar because it hits Fairy types and goes through subs. The other moves are pretty much set in stone: WoW adds to the residual damage this team thrives on while also cutting the opponent's atk in half while Rest and Sleep Talk provide semi-reliable recovery. The EV spread is meant to speed creep uninvested base 90 like Defensive Groudon or Specially Defensive Kyogre because it’s pretty useful to Roar before they do. Millions of miles from home In the swirling swimming on When I'm rolling with the thunder But bleed from thorns Leave a light a light on Leave a light a light on True Love (Tyranitar) (M) @ Chople Berry Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Crunch - Stone Edge / Roar - Stealth Rock - Pursuit Tyranitar carves out a niche for itself every gen, it seems. It shined last gen as a trapper for Latis and as a partner in crime for Excadrill. Both are worthless in XY. However, it gained new niches, ones that are critical to this team's success. The most important one by far is trapping Mega Gengar thanks to Chople Berry as consistently as possible without running something like Spiritomb. Other than that it sets up SR for this team and serves as a (soft) check to Yveltal, Darkrai, Mewtwo, Rayquaza and Ho-Oh among others. It can also anti-lead vs Deoxys formes pretty nicely. The set is pretty straight-forward once again. I sometimes use Roar over Stone Edge which has its benefits (like completely wiping the floor with evasion pass on showdown), but that makes Ho-Oh a lot scarier. There might be a better EV spread for this thing, but I haven’t found one yet and this never really failed to do the job. The other version of the team runs SR Arceus-Fairy in this slot and I honestly don’t know why. It makes Mega Gengar and Gothitelle awful to face, and overall makes the team much weaker against Mewtwo, Darkrai and Ho-Oh. For a second I was in control I had it once I lost it though And all along the fire below would rise And I wish you could have let me know What's really going on below I've lost you now, you let me go But one last time Magic (Clefable) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Unaware EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Moonblast - Wish - Protect - Heal Bell This is probably my signature Pokemon in XY Ubers. It ends up on a lot of my teams because of its versatility and it's honestly never disappointed me. Even though the standard set has max Def, I think max SpDef is superior by far. It turns Clefable into one of the sturdiest GeoXern counters in the game which is hugely important for any team. Between Wish and Protect it cannot 2HKO you, while you gradually kill it back with Moonblast. Moonblast does enough damage to beat Sub Xern thanks to a combination of Moonblast and Fairy Aura. Besides beating Xerneas, it can go toe-to-toe with Yveltal and Palkia outside of rain. If need be, it can also outstall any Arceus form (including Ekiller!) given they are burned/poisoned/leech seeded. This gives my favorite Fairy ample opportunity to perform its cleric duties. None of my other mons like status much at all and Heal Bell can quickly turn a bad situation around. Wish can give another team mate (usually turns to be Kyogre actually) a second life which has saved this team countless times much like Heal Bell. Overall, Clefable is a key cog of this team and any replacement is likely to make the team worse. Call it magic Cut me into two And with all your magic I disappear from view And I can't get over Can't get over you Still I call it magic Such a precious jewel Conclusion: Well that's it. There isn't any threat this team outright loses to as far as I know, which is a pretty big accomplishment in itself.There's a couple of Pokemon who are rather troublesome to face including Specs Kyogre, Rayquaza, CB Ho-Oh and Mewtwo (especially Stalltwo ugh), but those are some of the hardest Pokemon to counter overall, if that's even possible. Those are bad matchups but there's generally some way to overcome those and it usually involves Kyogre lol. Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed reading this! Feel free to try the team out (but pls keep the nicknames) and rates and/or likes are always very much appreciated n_n! Importable: Spoiler: Importable Ink (Kyogre) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Drizzle EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Water Spout - Scald - Ice Beam - Thunder Other's Arms (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 248 HP / 52 Def / 208 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Leech Seed - Spikes - Toxic - Gyro Ball Oceans (Tentacruel) (M) @ Black Sludge Trait: Rain Dish EVs: 240 HP / 16 Def / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Scald - Protect - Toxic Spikes - Rapid Spin Midnight (Giratina) @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Rest - Sleep Talk - Will-O-Wisp - Roar True Love (Tyranitar) (M) @ Chople Berry Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Crunch - Stone Edge - Stealth Rock - Pursuit Magic (Clefable) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Unaware EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Moonblast - Wish - Protect - Heal Bell
Sweet team, not much to say/add really. It's been working for you since like day 1 really. Good job buddy! <3 (Also, i've seen so many people steal this team and make it worse with the whole Fairyceus > Tyranitar...) Makes me weep.
So many people use this team on the ladder with a FairyCeus in it. Doubles in so many aspects with Clefable. Why do people persist though -_- It makes the team immensely weak to ho-oh, gives a free switch to Heatran, and MegaGar will get rid of at least two mons if played right. They all happen to be chinese for some reason though? Always tells me that team was made by someone called 'seele' or something :\ Wasn't it originally a RockCeus though :p The one problem I see is lead Deo-A, which is capable of poking large holes in the team with an appropriate coverage. Welp, there's predictions too I guess. And the fact that the statement applies to pretty much any team bar weird stuff like defensive PsychicCeus or something. Though, you could switch Kyogre's Modest to Timid to outpace the rare +speed ones (which apparently is the main usage set in ps idk). I'd also mention the StallTwo, but it looks like you already know that it can wreck all bar Ogre :( Thankfully, it isn't frightfully bulky, and if it gains a status from Scald/WoW/Seed, it shouldn't be as hard to take down. And swapping in a Ogre in its Recover's not a hard feat either despite being a bit risky. Great team :)
Spoiler fuk u i was gonna do a coldplay rmt and now i can't (lol, not rly) This is a great team. Glad you decided to share it with everyone. And the potential ban of Mega Gengar just makes this team that much better. Good job pal. Spoiler Run Mirror Coat on Tentacruel if real
I recommend the following changes: Dr.Clef (Clefable) (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Unaware EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Wish - Protect - Toxic - Heal Bell Dr.Gears (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Iron Barbs EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Careful Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Spikes - Gyro Ball - Leech Seed - Protect Dr.Bright (Tentacruel) (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Rain Dish EVs: 252 HP / 244 SpD / 12 Spe Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Toxic Spikes - Rapid Spin - Protect - Scald OHKOgre (Kyogre) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Drizzle EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Water Spout - Thunder - Surf - Ice Beam Dr.Kondraki (Giratina) @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD Impish Nature - Will-O-Wisp - Dragon Tail - Rest - Sleep Talk Magunasu (Arceus-Rock) @ Stone Plate Ability: Multitype EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Will-O-Wisp - Stealth Rock - Recover - Judgment All it takes is for a single crit from Xerneas and Clefable is dead, and Xerneas gets MANY chances to crit Clefable. So rather than Moonblasting Xerneas to death, I suggest using Toxic to deal with it. The team is very weak to Stalltwo, so I suggest Dragon Tail over Roar on Giratina. The team is extremely weak to Choice Band Ho-Oh, so by putting Protect over Toxic on Ferrothorn as well as Arceus-Rock over Tyranitar, the team becomes almost unbeatable by Choice Band Ho-Oh. By the way, credits to both Seele and CHAMPION LANCE/Ultimate Champion/Pokémon Trainer R/Transcendent God Champion/Immanent God LANCE for these modifications too, and special thanks to Seele for the nicknames.
Spoiler It doesn't get that /many/ chances, and even then the team does have Ferrothorn/Tentacruel that can deal with it if Xerneas lacks the appropriate coverage move. Moonblast is just a more reliable move that not only beats Xerneas, but also beats other dragons. Yea protect might work to scout Ho-Oh's moves. Zoro did at first try Arceus-Rock, but every stall team would be weak to MGar and goth without a proper pursuit-trapper to take it out. I like how Seele was the one who "stole" Zoro's team and gave you these modifications :] You might want to try a 248hp/76atk/88def/96sdef spread. 248hp/88def lets you live a Mega Kangaskhan's EQ after SR i think. Jump number in sdef and the rest is placed in attack to have a 95ish chance of 2hkoing Scizor with Stone Edge after taking SR as well as also having a very good chance of KOing Mega Mewtwo Y after taking a crunch+sand damage. Fantastic team, good job I look forward to seeing teams of such high-quality from you.
bad team Reflect Type Gengar 6-0s you also you copied from chinese master seele Spoiler You know this team is good when it's the most stolen team in XY Ubers and all "improvements" make it a lot worse. Tyranitar is a good choice, I like it more than the original Arceus-Rock. As you have no attack EVs though, I'd use Payback > Crunch to OHKO Deoxys-S and Mewtwo Y all the time. As you've also freed up your Arceus slot, you could consider Arceus-Ghost instead of Giratina. It counters Stalltwo easily and is also a much more solid answer to Blaziken if you can get rain up. You can run Stone Edge on it to lure Ho-oh, or just CM+Wisp which gives you a nice extra win condition. Stall wars will be more difficult though without a Pressure Pokemon to wear their PP down faster, but I think you should be good with Toxic Spikes Tentacruel most of the time.
time to stop johning replying here n_n re: MoM haha thanks ily :) re: Ramiel I can always count on you to give me extensive feedback on anything :) ya i personally don't know why you would ever use Fairyceus unless you wanna lose really badly to both Mega Gengar and Ho-Oh. Originally (waaay back) I did have Rockceus but that was before Mega Gengar was really getting used the way it should. Bar Clefable all my mons can actually beat Mega Gengar or at least force it to suicide, but Clefable is so important as a Xerneas check that it really warrants the Pursuit trapper. Rockceus made Ho-Oh a breeze to face, I kinda miss that ): Deo-A are lead mons 100% of the time so I just lead and Pursuit kill it with Ttar. They usually are SR suicide leads which means they have to choose between getting rocks up or damaging Tyranitar. if for some reason they decide they wanna switch, even better :) LO Deo-A is another story though ugh. Pivoting between Gira/Ferro/Ttar/Kyogre works but I'm afraid that's a mon every stall team is weak too unless you go run Psychicceus :v re: Raducan go coldplay :) yeah protect on tentacruel is expendable, you can fit haze/magic coat there to fuck up cm arceus and xerneas even though i think haze might be safer. i still like protect better though :) re: guaraa i like to think of this team as the "modificated" team as opposed to what you posted. I used to run Toxic on Clefable but that made it unable to beat Taunt Yveltal and worse, Sub Xerneas who can basically lead and 6-0 that team. crits don't necessarily spell doom for clef able if you get them on a turn you wish, you can easily live although it slows down the process of beating xerneas. if anything, the worst part about taking a lot of moonblasts to the face is the fact that clef's spatk drops which makes it go even more slowly. Toxic on Ferrothorn helps more against Ho-Oh than Protect does lol, and it's one of the main reasons I actually run it on Ferrothorn. re: DracoNinja that ev spread looks fancy as hell and i'll definitely try it out :) thanks for the kind words re: fixed rude Spoiler yeah giratina is probably the most expendable pokemon and giratina-o or ghostceus work in its place. i'd never actually thought of ghostceus before though, so i'll mess around with that :)
A very tough team to deal with, grats for this really amazing one. Just a thing : isn't Dialga with Life Orb or Expert Belt a threat with Fire Blast / Iron Head (or Flash Cannon) / Thunder / Draco Meteor ? Anyways this team is just impossible to deal with without at least 2 or 3 stallbreakers such as Hooh and Specs Ogre (which 2HKOes at least every mon of your team, right ? :o) Btw Mirror Coat is just awesome on Tenta :]]] Great job !!
lol what a bad team ;;;# focus blast+thunder geoxern wins and can set up vs tenta and probably if clef is a bit weakened stalltwo 6-0 gg unless they think that cos it's a stall team it's sdef kyogre and get caught out by scarf spout, if they don't and use like palkia then mewtwo can not let kyogre come in and threatens everything else with taunt+WoW, wearing down all the rest of the team easily, giratina wil have a hard time playing around it, it can only try and wait it out but that won't be easy, especially with gira having 5 type weaknesses, stuff like xern, yveltal, darkrai can force it out. Specsogre can take a soul if it comes in versus like clefable since nothing can avoid a 2HKO from spout, although once something is dead then u can force it out again, it's taken out a pokemon and that'll let other mons sweep. Ferro and tenta are huge bait for ho-oh, and CB ho-oh will break giratina over a few turns, iirc it 3HKOs with Brave Bird even with ur crappy spread. Double dance groudon 6-0s and it sets up on tenta and clefable, if gira is worn down a little (say by the ho-oh that pairs so nicely with it?) zekrom is a threat but it is to every team, it just needs focus blast for ferro but tbh u've got it covered well enough, psystrike/ice beam/fire blast/focus blast mewtwo Y kinda fucks over your team as well, nothing can switch in, and it can pretty much force stuff out, and that's a pretty common set of coverage moves (it's only slightly less effective with a move over fire blast, since the remaining 3 is like its best coverage combo, and if it uses calm mind or taunt then it wins too), reflect type gar or standard gar with focus blast + sludge wave/bomb + basic prediction skills + the luck to win the coinflip that's focus blast's accuracy vs ttar = losing ttar and losing clefable and possibly losing ferro, SD+Knock Off Blaze = GG, lust orb palk with fire blast+hydro pump+spacial rend (+ rain in part) is a threat your team can't handle very well as well, Deo-A's superpower OHKOs chople ttar, so what u gon' do bout that? U can't handle that either very easily, at least that might only be LO but LO Deo-A is legit (see fireburn's space jam on smogon for example) tenta is goth weak, as is clefable, and ur team also has issues with rayquaza (scarfogre can help if in ice beam but that's not too hard to play around), so in summary super weak to: ray goth sd+knock off blaze LO deo-a mewtwo (stalltwo and Y) fairly weak to: specsogre deo-a geoxern with focus blast + thunder lust orb palk double dance groudon + ho-oh :] <3
STOP PUTTING SONG LYRICS IN RMTS FUCK THEY DONT EVEN MEAN ANYTHING THEY DONT RELATE TO THE RMT IN ANY WAY IT JUST TAKES LONGER TO SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE TEAM PLEASE STOP FUCK
piexplode you figured me out,, guess i'll have to post my actual best stall team now Spoiler Diancie @ Shed Shell Ability: Clear Body EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA Bold Nature - Stealth Rock - Diamond Storm - Toxic - Moonblast Arceus-Psychic Ability: Multitype EVs: 248 HP / 168 SpD / 92 Spe Timid Nature - Defog - Payback - Recover - Magic Coat Gyarados @ Shed Shell Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA Impish Nature - Rest - Sleep Talk - Waterfall - Roar Bronzong @ Shed Shell Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def Relaxed Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Toxic - Protect - Gyro Ball - Stealth Rock Shedinja @ Focus Sash Ability: Wonder Guard EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Swords Dance - X-Scissor - Shadow Sneak - Baton Pass Spiritomb @ Assault Vest Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA Brave Nature - Pursuit - Shadow Ball - Sucker Punch - Foul Play anyone with a brain might think it's impossible to check all of those stall breakers you mentioned on one team but i did it,,, call me ctc of ubers imo for real though there's no ubers stall team that doesn't have problems with those and the lack of suggestions to fix any of these issues at all makes it even harder to take your rate seriously (+ you're basically echoing my conclusion)
you still autolose to reflect type gar with that team? sorry I forgot to put it in the summary Edit: yeah this is why you don't run stall (especially trying to run full stall) in XY Ubers with the current threats running about that there are. So basically, team = lots of issues, teambuild style = stall = lots of issues that can't realistically be fixed in current cancerous Metagame. Doesn't change it from being a bad team tho
> I literally am Stalljesus , TheyCallMeStallGodLilligantBecauseReasons That aside , I ran a team with dusclops and dusclops is literally a god. Stall can easily work in the current meta if you are not a fucktarded dipshit that thinks "OMG TOO MANY THREATS GG" It's not like past gens stall was easier to pull off. Zoro's team is incredibly solid altho it is rather easy to break. But as whole it has no bad matchup against anything that is not a dedicated 6 man Wallbreaker team.
Draco my edited part was a reply to the small print. Basically what zoro admitted is u shouldn't use stall in XY Ubers as the tier currently is, or at least you'll autolose to quite a bit of stuff. Mm also skymin is pretty strong versus this team (subseed is the most boss set anyway for it) I'm not providing changes since 1 stall is not viable, unless u can show me a team that's not shadow tag weak, and is stall, and doesn't lose to like any threats from B rank upwards near-instantly 2 Even if I were to try stall I would scrap all the team bar ferrothorn and ttar possibly cos the rest are just cancer mons that struggle really hard to do their job. Also wtf a scarfer on stall ;;;
