    What-makes-this-theme-unique-and-awesome checklist?
    • Does the theme have an Ax-Kefka? Check.
    • Does the theme have a bodyguard who outspeeds even said Ax-Kefka? Check.
    • Does the theme incorporate mafia Safeguarders who must counteract village power roles? Check.
    • Does the theme include at least five (5) vote bombs and Ganon-Mence? Check.
    • Does the theme have a village role who can be transformed into a powerful solo role dependent on the village's main PR as an act of desperation? Check.
    • Does your theme have Jack Sparrow? Uncheck.
      • If not, does the theme have Miki Sayaka? Check!
    • Does the theme continuously taunt you with a deceptively cute talking feline? Check.
    • Does the theme have a powerful mafia boss role that cannot be directly confronted? Check.
    For further explanations, proceed to the Roles below!

    Innocent Bystanders
    Every peak theme has a villager; this one has Bystanders!

    Kaname Madoka
    Madoka is the theme's central Power Role. She can Expose roles during the day and is revealed. Additionally, if she is lynched, everything that voted her dies a horrible death. Also doubles votes in 17+.

    Miki Sayaka
    Sayaka serves a few potential purposes for the village. She can /Shield someone to take their kills for them, in addition to Safeguarding and Detoxing. Sayaka herself will survive a nightkill once. If lynched, she becomes a vigilante with a high priority kill that pierces Protect.

    Shizuki Hitomi
    Hitomi is the Neighbour role in this theme, but her ability comes with an added bonus. If she tries to Gossip to a Witch, they'll change target to Kill her instead. This is an upside because it means whomever she reveals herself to is not a Witch (but not necessarily clean!). It also means she can meatshield herself against an exposed baddie (for instance, Kyouko+Hitomi vs Suleika = village wins).

    Tomoe Mami
    Mami fills various roles. She can Bind (Distract) or alternatively Protect during the night. She fits the role of the PL and Bodyguard and can thus perform in situations where a PR needs Protection or where an exposed mafia needs be held down.

    Sakura Kyouko
    Kyouko really gives the village firepower. She can kill during the day and is not exposed. This lets them go about removing suspects in a timely fashion, and a solid VCLR to the roster.

    Chitose Yuma
    If you haven't read Oriko Magica, get ready for more characters you don't know! Yuma's ability was changed for gameplay purposes to /Stalk, and it can be useful for disntuigishing Witches from their Grief Seeds. However, /Shroud will keep her at bay. Also Yuma survives a nightkill due to healing magic and has -2 votes.

    Akemi Homura
    Homura is immune to nightkills and cannot vote. Homura's night command (Watch) is a Watch+Protects, and she can use it twice per night; but, only Madoka can be Protected by Homura, and everyone else ignores. Furthermore, this Protect happens at such a high priority that the theme's Kefka is outsped. After night 2, Homura can no longer Protect Madoka. If Homura is lynched, she becomes Akuma Homura (no longer sided with village), who cannot be killed (like at all), and can continue to Protect Madoka. But that comes with a consequence...

    Akuma Homura
    As Akuma, Homura is no longer allied with the village. However, she automatically dies if Madoka does, so she shares the common goal of keeping her around. Thus, Homura must solo-win while protecting Madoka. Considering that Homura cannot be directly killed by literally anything, and she possesses a vote of 666 and a daykill, she has a decent chance.

    Grief Seeds
    These are millers - you think they're mafia but they're actually villagers - except if you lynch them, they actually become mafia! Furthermore, Witches of the same kind as the Grief Seed know who they are from the start. They hatch into Witches, who can Shroud and Kill and win with every Witch mafia.

    Kure Kirika
    Kirika has a very high priority kill and appears to be a villager if Exposed. She doesn't change target on Hitomi since she's not a Witch, but she is definitely a threat. She also ignores Distract.

    Mikuni Oriko
    Oriko, from the eponymous Oriko Magica, is probably the largest solo threat to spawn automatically. She has 1000 votes and can Protect+Safeguard twice per night (herself and Kirika). With the insane amount of things she can't safely lynch, in addition to the fact that she can't confront Madoka by herself, she actually has to work for a win.

    Walpurgisnacht
    The finale of Madoka Magica manifests as an unkillable full vote bomb. There are only 2 ways WN can be killed: 1) Lynched, in which case all who vote her die as well; 2) Akuma Homura daykills her - this is the only daykill that works. Naturally, WN wins with every Witch team, and her vote is equal to the number of Witches alive at the time.

    Suleika & Ulla
    The Delusional Witch and her minion. Suleika can Shroud twice per night and Ulla once per night (separately), in addition to their kill. Shroud is a command that blocks out village night actions - Expose, Gossip, and Watch, and it can be used on oneself. Anyone they Shroud during the Night can be Inspected during the Day.

    Gertrude & Anthony
    The Distrustful Witch and her minion. They share a Kill, and Gertrude can Distract while Anthony can Protect.

    Charlotte
    The Dessert Witch. She can poison (count: 2) and is literally unkillable. If lynched, she transforms into...

    Charlotte [Second Form]
    Which has a high priority Kill, ducking most Protects. She now changes target if Distracted. Now that she is exposed, she can be killed like anything else.

    Elsa Maria & Sebastians
    The Shadow Witch. Elsa Maria can Shroud thrice per night, and Sebastian can /Protect. Anyone on this team bombs the last voter if lynched. They share a nightkill.

    Itzli
    The Oblivion Witch. She has 2 kills per night, and she is completely immune to the lynch - she bombs the first voter if lynched, but doesn't die.

    Village
    Madoka - Can /Expose. Bombs all who vote her if lynched. Doubling vote in large games.

    Sayaka - Can /Shield. Survives 1 nightkill. Survives lynch to gain nightkill.

    Mami - Can Bind (Distract) or Protect.

    Hitomi - Neighbour, but Witches change target to kill her if she greets them.

    Yuma - Can Stalk. Survives 1 nightkill. -2 votes.

    Kyouko - Non-revealed Samurai

    Homura - Can't vote, can't be nightkilled. Can /Watch twice. Only for the first two turns, this Watch Protects Madoka before all mafia actions. If lynched, is revealed and becomes Akuma Homura.

    Demon of Love
    Akuma Homura - 666 votes, daykill, cannot be killed by anything at all. Only dies if Madoka dies.

    Homicidal Magical Girls
    Kirika - Kefka that appears as villager if Inspected.

    Oriko - Mence+Kuja. 1000 votes, revealed daykill, can Protect x2 (usable on self).

    Walpurgisnacht
    Vote = number of Witches in game, reduced as Witches die. Bombs all voters if lynched. Only dies if daykilled by Akuma or lynched.

    Witches
    If a Grief Seed (miller) is lynched, becomes a Witch, which can't immediately kill, but can Shroud.

    Suleika - Can Shroud x2. Shared kill.
    Ulla - Suleika's minion. Can shroud x1 separately can kill.

    Gertrude - Can kill. Can also Distract.
    Anthony - Gertrude's minion. Can Protect, shares kill.

    Cecil - Can kill, and Lure (Distract+Inspect). 3 votes.

    Charlotte - Can poison. Immune to all kills. If lynched, becomes Charlotte form 2, which has priority kill.

    Elsa Maria - Shroud x3. Can kill. Bombs last voter.
    Sebastian - Can Protect and shares Kill.

    Kirsten - Can kill. Can Drain (steals PRs) to gain upgrades. Gets 2 votes, then reverse miller, then ignores PL, then gains daykill.

    Itzli - Can kill x2. Escapes lynch and bombs first voter.

    • Connecting Village: Madoka can do this consistently if there is sufficient protection.
    • Alternatives: Sayaka can get herself voted and get 2 Kills off while confirming she's a villager role to get PRs connected. Yuma can self-vote to clean herself, but it might not be the wisest move.
    • Combinations: Some PRs work really well together. Mami's Protect links perfectly onto Sayaka's Shield, allowing for 2 people to be safe instead of one. Homura's behavior means Madoka is pretty much safe for the first two cycles of a game, and the Watch+Protect combo is deadly. Kyouko can clean up threats Exposed by Madoka that you cannot / do not want to lynch (such as Elsa Maria) or may try to daykill first (like Oriko).
    • Taking on Walpurgis: It's probably best to target other Witches first, since you would have to sacrifice most of the village to vote her off from the start even if no other Witches help (and some will, no doubt). Regardless, Madoka will likely go down killing Walpurgis because her vote doubling is extremely well fitted for the task.
    • What to do with Homura: Probably don't tell her PRs, even if the village is connected. If Oriko rands her, or if you decide to use her Demon form to guarantee Madoka's safety, you don't want her to be able to eliminate your Samurai and Vigilante too easily... since she's basically won if she does.

    Code: raw

    Let me know any question, concerns, mistakes in the 4000+ lines of code. Have fun reviewing!

    First of, I'm looking at Madoka, it says that they can expose a person during the night. The word inspect would sound better and be more appropriate.

    Looking at the smaller games around 5 players, it looks good there's an even chance that both prs would be unable to use their night actions but the village can also find the mafia with an even chance, however the 6 player games seems like it would go more to the mafia.

    What's the point of Miki having the highest priority kill?

    Is there a reason why Akuma has a vote of 666? Sounds like a weird number for a kuja.

    The really small games seems like luck games. For the list of 4 players village will be forced to vote straight away and if they hit Miki it's really up to Miki to kill Cecil.

    I don't understand Itzli, on the role description it says it can't be lynched and then it says it bombs the first voter if lynched but doesn't die, what does that mean? Are you trying to say that if most people vote Itzli then the first person to vote them dies? I'm confused as if it is an actual kuja or if it just has a -1000 voteshield.

    There seems to be quite a lot of roles that can convert, the roles seem good and balanced when converted or stayed the same, is this why the code is pretty long?

    This theme looks good at the moment some tweaks might be needed and the flavour is good and looks like it will hopefully get some tests in the future. Can you put the code into a raw format please it looks better to look at it with nothing else floating around in the screen. I'll be looking at the coding later and will report any grammar issues and everything else.

    Well, it is an Expose. Everyone gets the info, if it lands. Originally it was an Inspect and I might go back to that. The reason it's an Expose is that it will almost never directly Expose a Witch (they'll try to shroud themselves most of the time). It could easily be an Inspect.

    Actually, I might change it to publicly show whom was 'Exposed' but actually have it be an Inspect for Madoka. Less annoying when you hits PRs in Kirika games that way...

    Yeah 6p is poorly designed. I'll change it to Madoka/Hitomi/Villager/Villager/Suleika/Grief Seed.

    First of all, Sayaka is just about exposed if she gets lynched - though the player's name is not in the lynch message, you can speculate based on the vote count. If she didn't have high prio her vengeful form would be useless. She cannot be Protected from Kirika, but has 1 shot to outshoot her. Same goes for any other Witch if Mami dies/is demoted.

    Secondly, it's important that it can outshoot Akuma's Protect. The village needs as many failsafes as possible since Akuma would otherwise be too dangerous to use.

    Besides the flavor incentive (666 is associated with the demonic/satanic), it works because it is an inferior Kuja to Oriko. This means Orikoa can outvote Akuma. But, with Madoka's help (vote doubler) they can outvote anything.

    Another bad setup. I think I had an idea for how it would play but it clearly won't. I'm open to more ideas in this size of game. Maybe I could use Stacy, whom I removed altogether from the spawn.

    It does exactly what it says it does. In the event that it /is/ lynched, it won't even die, except the first to vote them will. Its vote is 1 and its voteshield is 0.

    Basically... lots of forms for Sayaka (like Oracle's code is huge), Kirsten converts a lot, plus the demoted forms of PRs, plus some excessive flavor for Kyouko (different revealed killmsg every day).

    With the size of the code, I'd rather leave a link up, but I can link it to the raw form if you prefer.

    As always, spawn is the hardest for me; help me out if you have any ideas!

    Edit: Tweaked spawn. Madoka's expose changed to Inspect as explained above. Minor flavor adjustments.

    Had a lengthy convo with Miki about this theme, and so far, all my reservations and hesitations have been answered. Spawn is a bit ehhh at the moment, but can't really think of anything to improve the spawn list yet, we agreed that Sayaka could be replaced with Hitomi in List 4, but decided to leave Sayaka in for now. Spawn list's 6 and 7 could be tweaked around a bit if it does seem hard for villy to win with 4 factions flying about, Homura could be implemented earlier, replacing Mimi in 10p, or replacing a Villager in 14p.

    In the event that Madoka does die in n1, Homura could lead the village in a way similar to Zelda in Zelda, but if lynched, would not be able to achieve demon form as Madoka is not in, and would just die, which I believe creates better balance overall.

    Homura could be added into 5p for some variety and a different playstyle as well, where she would auto win if she was somehow lynched while Madoka was still present.

    Theme is highly unique and creative with great flavour and I am incredibly curious to see how it goes. I trust that Miki would have thought of every option so far and balance is fine thus far. Unless something comes up with the coding/massive errors in spawn/someone finds something massively unbalanced, I am ready to give this a test.

    Edit : Would there be a way to somehow implement Jack Sparrow into this?

    This looks like a good theme. The strategies are a bit more complicated than in most themes, but I think not so much that people couldn't figure it out. I looked through roles 1-6, and it seems balanced. The only issue I could think of is that if Madoka is lynched it would be a disaster for the village, which could happen if Madoka was an afk or new player who didn't know to claim or connect. Especially in 5-6 player games where Madoka can't claim because there is no bodyguard.

    Also, I'm still new to the vote multiplier thing. If Madoka is the only person to vote for someone, would that count as 0 votes or 2?

    To me, some of the help messages (Walpurgis, Kirika, both Homura forms, etc.) are quite confusing. I'm not entirely sure how you would change them while keeping the flavor, but I think it would help with understanding the theme.

    The Homura convert message should say "bears" instead of "bares".

    I personally don't like Self BGing Kujas, so if you have a Kuja that can BG, make sure its his teammates only. A BGed Kefka is still a bit OP.

    @Veteran Padgett, I thought about the dangers of the Madoka player not understanding claiming. However Madoka should be able to overturn a lynch on herself and as long as they claim before 3 people vote them (even new players tend to claim once they realize they're getting voted), only 1 person needs to help to change the vote. There's also the chance that Madoka getting lynched blows out half the witches and leaves Mami/Sayaka an easily cleanup job. The concept of a full vote bomb isn't necessarily helpful for balance, but it should at least be exciting and interesting. There's also the fact that it stops Walpurgis/Oriko from countering on the village leader, so they have to think about whom they lynch. Overall, it contributes to a "think before you lynch" mentality, which I like.

    Edit: Vote multiplier would mean Madoka's vote = 2, and also anyone else who followed her vote would be doubled. Madoka+Sayaka = 4 votes if they vote the same person, Madoka+Akuma = 1332 votes.

    @Paradoxial, thank you for noting that but
    "homurahelp": "±Kyubey: You sure are a curious one, Akemi Homura. I'd really like to know where you got your mysterious powers! Somehow you are able to be in two places at once, and you can /Watch two people per night! Stranger still, this Watch will protect Madoka from all nightkills. You seem to escape nightkills as well, but you are not able to vote either. After the third night, you won't be able to protect Madoka; but Your latent magical power is on such a scale that I can't even predict what will happen if you get lynched...",

    "akumahelp": "±Kyubey: Just what entity are you!? The best guess I can offer is: a Demon! Now you cannot be killed at all, and in fact will only die in the circumstance that Madoka does; your fates are completely intertwined! You devilish powers of memory manipulation allow you to vote almost anyone off with a vote 666, and you can also obliterate literally anything in the universe during the day with your /Kill! Now then, I think I'll be leaving until this is all sorted out...",
    can you explain which part of Homura's messages are confusing? I think all the abilities are outlined, but perhaps the wording could be improved. If you have any recommendations I'd like to hear them.

    "kirikahelp": "±Kyubey: Since I have no means of predicting your emotional patterns, I can't tell if you're homicidal or completely harmless. But you clearly have the capacity to be both! Naturally, no one would be able to recognize you as a threat; you look just like an Innocent Bystander to them! However, you're capable of killing any of them, and due to your time-slowing magic, you can strike before most bodyguards and ignore distractors!",
    Can you point out specifically where the role is confusing? "You look just like an Innocent Bystander" and "you can strike before bodyguards" seems to cover the abilities. Again, rewording could help.

    Also idk if "±Kyubey:" will replace "±Help:" correctly. Oh well.

    Fixed the typo in the convert message.

    @Pandaofazn I don't think I'll actually put Homura in early game spawn; she should spawn at least as late as Kyouko. It could be interesting though.

    Hitomi replaced Sayaka in List 4, since the village doesn't really need kills, but info.

    I also want to have Sayaka's Shield moved up to priority 1 and be command [Shield/Safeguard]. This will make Madoka a safe claim when Charlotte/Kirsten are in, and also give them a block in case Kirika goes after Madoka. Mami+Sayaka still link fine.

    @Fiery Espeon, yes, in FF, self-bging Kuja would be OP. In Kirby, self-bging Kuja would be OP. But to decide whether something is really overpowered, you have to look at the environment it's in.

    List 8 (15~16 players):
    1. Madoka (inspector)
    2. Sayaka (bomb)
    3. Mami (pl)
    4. Pack samurai: 1. Kyouko (samurai) [16.67%] | 2. Kyouko (samurai1) [16.67%] | 3. Kyouko (samurai2) [16.67%] | 4. Kyouko (samurai3) [16.67%] | 5. Kyouko (samurai4) [16.67%] | 6. Kyouko (samurai5) [16.67%]
    5. Homura (watcher)
    6. an Innocent Bystander (villager)
    7. an Innocent Bystander (villager)
    8. an Innocent Bystander (villager)
    9. an Innocent Bystander (kirika)
    10. Oriko (oriko)
    11. Charlotte (dessert)
    12. Kirsten (covetous)
    13. Pack smallwitch: 1. Suleika (delusional) [50.00%] | 2. Gertrude (distrust) [50.00%]
    14. Pack smallwitch: 1. Ulla (delusionalmin1) [50.00%] | 2. Anthony (distrustmin1) [50.00%]
    15. Pack smallwitch: 1. Ulla (seed-delusional1) [50.00%] | 2. Gertrude (seed-distrust) [50.00%]
    16. Hitomi (visitor)
    Homura Protects Madoka, and ideally, Mami -> Sayaka -> Kyouko. Kirika can kill Sayaka or Kyouko or Mami, but neither Homura nor Madoka. Witches won't be able to hit Kyouko or Sayaka, so its up to Kirika to remove them, if the village is coordinated - maybe not night 1, but definitely night 2. Even assuming a bad night for the village, most village PRs are well enough fortified that only 1/2 will die at most. Meanwhile, Madoka can't quickly find Kirika, and they can't rely on xfire since Oriko can Protect both Kirika and herself. Oriko can be found by Inspections, as well as during the vote phase using speculation. But she isn't the top threat either, since she can't hurt anyone without revealing herself.

    The problem of: "how do you get rid of kuja if they're immune to vote phase" is addressed by the several roles which are not blocked by a priority-10 Protect. Oriko herself is not a direct threat, and she can only remove one person before being removed. Kyouko can daykill without being revealed, so there's a 10%+ chance she randomly kills Oriko even if Madoka doesn't find anything useful. Even if Oriko is revealed and they don't have Kyouko to get rid of her, Oriko doesn't automatically win. Look at her WinIfDeadRoles. Lynching Homura = ded. Lynching Sayaka = ded. Get revealed while Mami/Kyouko is in = daykilled. She can't directly vote Madoka, and if she votes certain Witches, she loses. Elsa Maria, Itzli, and Walpurgis all bomb votes, and Charlotte can come around to revenge kill her. Even Kirsten can upgrade to the point where she gets a daykill.

    For medium-large I expect games to work like this.
    Night 1, Madoka claims, Homura Protects and Watches, Mami->Sayaka->Kyouko links perfectly. Oriko protects her team and most casualties are villagers/xfire on Witches, unless a lucky hit on Mami. Kirika #1 priority is to find Kyouko. Kyouko cleans up whomever Madoka finds/suspects, and village rands. More or less the same thing happens night 2/day 2, but in the vote phase the village has to decide whether to lynch Homura to keep Madoka safe. In 15p this isn't as good of an option because they can probably win without Madoka as long as Walpurgis isn't in. 17+ this is worth consideration. But it's only necessary if Madoka is threatened. Thus, the first 2 turns are a race of Kyouko trying to find Kirika so that getting a priority BG is not necessary. And meanwhile Kirika is racing to look for Kyouko/Sayaka etc to make sure Oriko is safe.

    Anyways, tl;dr look at the environment that the supposedly broken role is to decide if it's actually unbalanced. I put a lot of effort into making sure Oriko/Akuma are not as overpowered as they seem to be on the surface. Two samurai+priority vengeful+vote bombs galore+akuma homura keep her in check.

    "Vote multiplier would mean Madoka's vote = 2".

    Ok. I was wondering because if so, the wagons could be kept to 2 votes (until Cecil spawns) so that Madoka could tie it if voted for. It would just be a matter of getting people to cooperate.

    I honestly can't see anything wrong with this at all. All my queries have been answered, and I think it should run smoothly. It seems to be a steep learning curve and very unique. I would like to see it given a test run if possible.

    @Whereabouts Unknown, maybe adding the command i.e you can /kill most bodyguards and ignore distractors could help clear up issues of misunderstanding/confusion. Just my 2c

    For the Homura help, does the watch protect only Madoka, or does it protect whoever she's watching? Additionally, does the watch have to be on Madoka, or does using the watch already protect Madoka?

    Since Akuma's and Madoka's fates are intertwined, does that mean Madoka dies when Akuma dies? The help is also ambiguous about if Akuma can be voted out.

    For Mami, the Finale is a bit opaque. It's pretty clear that it's an offensive ability, and it seems to be a daykill. However, is it revealing? And what is the "risky" chance of failure?

    Walpurgis help says "you can't be killed at all", but says that you can be voted out. More annoying than confusing.

    Kirika looks okay, I think I just initially was confused by the flavor. Sorry!

    Sayaka help should say "Another's" instead of "Anothers' ".

    "/shround" in Witch help should be "Shroud" (I assume).

    Gertrude help should have "become" instead of "be", and vote should be lowercase. I'm not really sure how to describe it, but the first sentence feels kind of wrong? I think it's the third person perspective.

    Meow.

    Somehow you are able to be in two places at once, and you can /Watch two people per night! Stranger still, this Watch will protect Madoka from all nightkills.

    It only Protects Madoka. Otherwise it's a regular Watch.

    Akuma dies if Madoka does, but not vice versa. Akuma can be voted off, but it's almost impossible. Madoka+Akuma outvote everything.

    It's "risky" because it exposes you. Mami can't be Protected or Shielded, so it's suicidal. I edited to make it more clear.

    Then I'll change it to "defeated" since she is more or less unkillable.

    The help is supposed to be second person, I just dropped a pronoun. Fixed.

    As for meow, I more or less dropped Stacy, she's not in the anime or any of the major manga afaik, so she doesn't spawn. I just haven't removed her in case I need something for a certain part of the spawn. Hence her flavor is incomplete.

    Got a few issues with the theme... so I guess the testing period is put on hold. When you fix these, just re-enable the theme yourself.

    Alright, fixed the obvious problems. The convert should've been silent. Charlotte's poison I changed to 1x but forgot to update the help; fixed.

    What happened after the vote phase makes sense, but the way it happened was sort of strange. Entwine activated correctly, but the Vengeful didn't. In other words, the village was supposed to win, but it was supposed to make sense when they did. Charlotte was dead.

    In other news, Sayaka doesn't Entwine for now, I'm trying a more flavor oriented ability. Heal works as SG+Shield, and she survives a nightkill once. Vengeful Sayaka should happen correctly now.

    Edit: Also Witches should know who the Grief Seeds are, so they can try and lead a mislynch on them.

    Too many commas in that bolded line in my opinion. Also, you should use "startupmsg" for the "You are an Innocent Bystander" and make the actual role "Bystander." It looks awkward on readlog and messages "(21:26:53) ±Kyubey: Fiery Espeon (an Innocent Bystander) was violently ripped to pieces!"

    Ok first nobody knew what was going on. At least 4 people complained they had no idea what was going on.
    The "everyone flips as this role" is not alluded to anywhere in the roles or start bit and seems pointless.
    It isn't explained what shroud does in helps.
    The witch's kill doesn't come in when it says it does (2 days not 1).

    (20:15:47) Claiming: Madoka is the safest claim option if Homura is around, or if Kirika isn't. Sayaka can claim and asked to be voted to confirm if Kirika and Oriko are not in. Yuma can selfvote to prove herself clean.(20:15:47) Top threats: If Walpurgisnacht is in, be careful with every vote phase! Its vote is inflated, it cannot die, and it bombs everyone who lynches it. Kirika (priority kill) is the top threat in small games. Oriko (Ganon+Kuja) requires special attention in larger ones.(20:15:47) Millers: If a Grief Seed (Miller) is lynched, it will become a Witch! Kirika appears as a villager.(20:15:47) Shroud: An ability several witches can use. It can prevent themselves or others from being Arrowed, Watched, or Gossip'd.(20:15:47) Akuma: Homura can only Protect Madoka for the first two nights. However, if Homura is lynched while Madoka is alive, she will become a powerful solo role with a priority Protect who is dependent on Madoka's survival.

    Okay, I think I covered all the inconsistencies. No one flips as Kirika, that was an error in the killmsg, as was every occurrence of a miller appearing as the role it's inspected as when killed (complications of trying a dummy inspect/expose system which is obsolete now anyway). Let me know if any others show up, it should be dealt with though.

    It really doesn't affect anything because the last value is what is used but

    {
    "role": "villager",
    "translation": "a Bystander",
    "startupmsg": "an Innocent Bystander",
    "side": "village",
    "startupmsg": "You are an Innocent Bystander!",
    "help": "variable:villagerhelp",
    "info": "Can vote. ~Sided~",
    "actions": {
    "onlist": "villagersimplified",
    "onteam": "villagersimplified",
    "protect": "variable:ignorehomura"
    }
    },

    You should remove the first line because it bothers me for no good reason now that I've looked at your code.
    Also, "a Bystander" is still weird when you look at kill/lynch messages and readlog. (+Game: Fuzzysqurl (a Bystander) died!)

    Unless you change your messages to say like "+Game: ~Player~, ~Role~, died!"
    Would fill in like
    +Game: Fuzzysqurl, a Bystander, died!
    +Game: Fuzzysqurl, Madoka, died!
    But that gets awkward if someone actually selects the name of a role in the theme (+Game: Miki Sayaka, Sayaka, died!, or +Game: Homura, Charlotte died!)

    (20:16:11) ±Murkrow: Miki Sayaka updated the theme MM.

    Minor changes. I'm giving the comma format a try, leaving the article in (it reads nicer on kill messages). Cleared up a few things; for instance, Mami's daykill message explicitly exposes the role. Changed spawn, most notably by putting Kirika back until 12 and moving Kyouko up to 12. Smaller games focus more on the Grief Seed mechanic, with only one or two witch factions. To address lopsided balance, Madoka's vote double has been removed until 17+ games. This makes small games more manageable for mafia, whereas previously it has been difficult to counter a Madoka claim (still: voting Madoka directly won't work!). Sayaka also spawns earlier; even when Mami's not in she can allow Madoka to claim as she can be a 1x bodyguard.

    I haven't figured out what to do with Gertrude, since there isn't any space in the spawn at the time being, so I'd like to hear any ideas about how to incorporate her.

    Suleika should get another command in nonpeak games, besides shroud. For some people, shroud is confusing :x. That is acceptable but other commands can be given. An Inspect or Distract are preferable in this setup. I won a game, that I wasn't supposed to win. I didn't inspect twice and then one of my inspects died. I won because I coinfliped and voted someone. :x Suleika needs the advantage of that Inspect/Distract. It can be 2x charge, it doesn't need to be every night.

    I've patched this, but I don't have server access atm so I can't update it. I believe it's disabled currently as it is, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Edit: Oh, I lied. It's fixed now.

    My concern about Shroud is that it takes too long to type in two targets every night in addition to a kill. For that reason I was wondering about extending night phase to 35 seconds. Can anyone vouch for this?

    To address your concern, I don't see what the problem is with Shroud as a command. Although Mafia Safeguarders are not in abundance, it is useful for what it does, and once you get the hang of it, it proves very handy. It's hard to confirm anyone is bad in small games, and nigh impossible if one self-shrouds every night. This, in addition to a side-flipping miller, whom the mafia already know at startup, make even a 5v1 scenario a balanced match, since it requires even the most potent PRs to make judgement calls without any solid reasoning. On the contrary, what do you think a mafia PL or Inspector would benefit from in this setup? I believe SG is more suited for countering an Inspector/Trustful Neighbour combination. In fact I have other Witches that can use those commands which I decidedly did not put into early spawn. For Suleika (and Ulla), the command will be Shroud, because it is exactly what you'd expect out of a Delusional Witch, and it happens to create a network of simple mindgames and opportunities to frame, which I think is ideal for non peak setups. Flavorwise, I'd be open to working in Gertrude and giving her a Distract, if I thought the game would work better like that. Perhaps I would add her after Sayaka spawns. I don't have enough logs of 9+ to decide though. More problematically, there are no logs of Homura or even Kyouko spawning, and they're the best characters I would like to see how larger games play out.

    Edit 9/30: Added Gertrude, with a PL, to 7-9p. Let me know how games of those size go, in comparison to the former which had only 1 mafia faction up to 8.

    because QC is allegedly alive I will take my time to review this:

    first off a couple of suggestions, I'll edit in some more things later, but consider removing the kill chance from Madoka's arrow and the samurai aspect from Mami since you already have a Samurai. If you really want a day action expose would be fine, or some hidden day inspect a la Flock's Tropius

    EDIT: 4p seems fairly unreliable, although you do get a lot of info to go off of. Neighbor can attempt to claim + announce their target at the end of the night phase and if they die you can probably lynch their target, if they live you just cleaned someone and if that person didn't die it's gg, but if the mafia also killed the person they tried to neighborize it comes down to a 50/50. These scenarios seem like they favor the village more though

    5 is okay because the mafia has immunity to both inspect and neighborizer, but 6 seems kinda screwed if you lynch a Grief Seed because you'd pretty much lose (becomes 3-2 and Night 2 giving mafia the win). It tries to balance itself out with the fact that if you just lynch the witch herself you win but this seems high risk high reward. There /is/ the fact that the witch can shroud herself AND another target to potentially frame, so I guess I'll leave that there for now

    7-8 looks good because not every village PR is reliable and there are two mafias. I'd suggest against having a PL in at 9 though as she can also protect and neither of these mafias can do anything about her iirc. Gertrude at least takes down 2 people when she's lynched, so that seems powerful enough for big games, but maybe a watered down version would be better for 7-8.

    Really confused at 12-14 cause it looks like 10-2-1-1, which is pretty unbalanced towards village (for reference, FF at this point is 9-2-2-1 which isn't actually too bad).

    I won't look much into bigger games than this because PO's issue right now is getting the playerbase to actually play games of around ~10 people so I'm just focusing on the small player setups.

    Thanks for the input, I'm excited to resume working on this theme.

    So, 4p. There are obviously going to be imbalances in any non peak where the mafia can kill night 1, since the vote day 1 is obligatory and under-informed. In this scenario, the best thing for village to do is for everyone to claim Hitomi and announce whom they are gossiping, or at least claiming to. This forces Ulla to come up with a strategy. Thing is, there is no perfect strategy. If Ulla doesn't self-shroud, they run a risk of being exposed 1/3 of the time. If they do self-shroud, the village may connect. Thus gameplay varies. Ulla's actions are liquid and thus require speculation based on the player, and use of mindgames. Intuitively, Ulla will be tempted to self-shroud to avoid the 1/3 auto-loss, but let's see how that looks statistically speaking, assuming the village follows the rule to vote whomever Hitomi gossiped. (This rule isn't always followed in my experience, but that's all in the workings of mafia - if you're good at feigning innocence, claiming frames, or pressuring a mislynch, you'll do better.) In any case, assuming they self-Shroud, the village actually has a good shot at making an educated guess, shown below.

    Ulla Shrouds self (100%)
    ->Hitomi gossips P1 (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [5.56%]
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) - Village wins 100% [11.11%]
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) Village wins 0% [0%]*
    ->Hitomi gossips P2 (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 100% [11.11%]
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [5.56%]
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) Village wins 0% [0%]*
    ->Hitomi gossips Ulla (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [5.56%]**
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [5.56%]**
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) Village wins 100% [11.11%]*

    Statistically speaking, that gives the village a 55.55% chance to win.
    *these can be considered 0 or 100 for the sake of math. Really comes down to how well you argue.
    **Hitomi can follow "shrouded=bad" logic, so these odds may be increased.
    But if Ulla Shrouds randomly:
    Ulla Shrouds P1 (33.33%)
    ->Hitomi gossips P1 (33.33%)*
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [1.85%]
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) - Village wins 0% [0%]
    ->Hitomi gossips P2 (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [1.85%]
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) Village wins 0% [0%]
    ->Hitomi gossips Ulla (33.33%)
    ----->Doesn't matter what Ulla does (100%) - Village wins 100% [11.11%]

    Ulla Shrouds P2 (33.33%)
    ->Hitomi gossips P1 (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [1.85%]
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) - Village wins 0% [0%]
    ->Hitomi gossips P2 (33.33%)*
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [1.85%]
    ----->Ulla kills Hitomi (33.33%) Village wins 0% [0%]
    ->Hitomi gossips Ulla (33.33%)
    ----->Doesn't matter what Ulla does (100%) - Village wins 100% [11.11%]

    Ulla Shrouds Hitomi (33.33%)
    ->Hitomi gossips P1 (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 50% [1.85%]
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) - Village wins 100% [3.7%]
    ->Hitomi gossips P2 (33.33%)
    ----->Ulla kills P1 (33.33%) - Village wins 100% [3.7%]
    ----->Ulla kills P2 (33.33%) Village wins 50% [1.85%]
    ->Hitomi gossips Ulla (33.33%)
    ----->Doesn't matter what Ulla does (100%) - Village wins 100% [11.11%]

    The winning odds here are 51.83%.
    *Less actually, Hitomi could apply "shrouded=bad" logic and misvote.
    Because these odds are close, and they both cause different advantageous situations, the results of night 1 area fairly liquid. Because self-Shrouding appears to be the worse strategy, we could actually invert "shrouded=bad" logic to "shrouded=clean" logic, assuming that Ulla plays within their best interests. This just evens out the odds because it makes self-Shrouding more valuable against that logic.

    tl;dr
    Overall, 4p is about 55/45 or 52/48 in favor of village. Because there is no obviously best course of action for Ulla, players must use the speculation to make educated guesses almost all the time. If Hitomi dies, the village has a suspect that has to beg to explain a coincidence/frame. If Hitomi hits someone shrouded, they have to think if this player would self-Shroud, or if the other player alive is more likely to not self-shroud. The only time that the results are decided 100% is when Hitomi finds the person that is neither killed nor shrouded, excluding that Hitomi is killed. This only happens 7.4% of the time if Ulla shrouds someone besides themselves. Other than that, every scenario creates a debate.

    5p I just changed sorta drastically. I'll probably work with it a bit more, but since Shroud is now useless against Madoka, there is a chance the game ends d1 if Suleika is exposed. Therefore I added a Grief Seed to the 5p spawn. However, this is a problem as well since Seed can vote with Suleika if they feel like winning with the Witches for no reason. Also Madoka dying n1 ruins the balance. I think I might put Sayaka in in place of Hitomi here. It would allow Madoka to live through n1 and form a basis of claiming. Also because berserk villagers are fun. Problematic still: if villager dies, Seed knows they're a Seed and can still vote with Suleika.

    6p, will make the same adjustments probably.

    7-8p, Mami has been changed drastically, and also Shroud blocks her Bind. I think I will put her in the 7p spawn with these changes. The advantage of her Bind's changes is that it is faster than Gertrude's distract. However, it also reveals herself and she has a +1 voteshield. It's also restricted with Protect. Also, Gertrude hasn't bombed votes in ages, I have to update the OP.

    I've been hoping to test 12+ games, but yeah, channel is dead. Although it's 8-2-1-1 to 10-2-1-1, there are a lot of problems for the village. Claiming is stunted by Kirika, and unlike in FF, no one haxes each other. Charlotte has to be lynched and then killed, also gaining a priority kill after the lynch. And there's also a Grief Seed which can turn it into 9-2-2-1, a bad situation for village.

    Edit: So, Mami's change of +1 VS will be made 1.5 or something. We can't have games stall at 3p because of stubborn village.

    Added a new 5p setup: Madoka/Sayaka/Kyouko vs Oriko vs Charlotte. Maybe I'll do a statistical analysis when I get back, but I think it would balance out decently.

    There are way too many variables to do a full analysis, but this works well 5p because it has no n1 kills, and a complicated relationship between roles. Sayaka can counter Charlotte's poison for as long as she's in form 1. Both get fast kills when lynched and can temporarily evade nightkills. Oriko can only safely lynch Kyouko. Madoka can connect village and shuffle through fake claims, while being impossible to directly attack while also harmless to the mafia. Madoka could also stay silent and trick mafia into voting her off.

    The 6p setup should from before should work fine I think.

    Edit2: Okay, so I changed Mami again and removed the Voteshield. It's punishment enough if the PL/BG has to reveal herself to a mafia faction to PL them, so the VS is redundant. In most scenarios, Protecting will probably be better. PL is only better if you have a mafia suspect but no village role to Protect.

    Also, Sayaka's kill is slower than Kirkia and Charlotte now.

    Alright, time for a full review.

    Creativity:
    I honestly am not interested in delving through the whole lore of Madoka Magica but from waht I quickly gnaced through on Wikipedia, the general assignments of roles for the girls seems correct. I suppose @Shazan could attest to (in)accuracies as I know he's at least more familiar with the series than me. I understand that the ingame bot's name is Kyubey and that it's the thing which gave the girls their roles, so that's an added bonus. Sides/win messages look accurate too, just change the Covetous Witch's win message: it's belong as oppose to belongs.
    Score: 5/5

    Cohesion-
    I believe this covers stuff like:

    "You are a beacon of hope to your fellow Mahou Shoujo, so all who follow your vote in the vote phase will have their vote strength doubled!"

    in Madoka's help2, along with

    "kyoukohelp": "±Kyubey: Wow, I didn't know the human body could metabolize food that fast. That side, your agility and strength make you a powerful adversary for any Witch or Mahou Shoujo!"

    makes it seem like the Mahou Shoujo aren't on the village side, and isn't it supposed to be 'Magical Girls' in Japanese? But yeah, for one, sticking to the English might be clearer for others, and second, Kyouko's help could use some rewording. In fact most of the help messages could be shortened as I feel there's too much narrating and not enough explicitg role explaining.

    In terms of characters meshing, there's definitely interaction between roles (see: Hitomi dying if she neighborises a witch, various votebombs, demon Homura dying if Madoka dies, and the odd conditions of how Walpurgisnacht can be killed). Whether these things enhance the theme or just make it a clusterfuck of conditionality remains to be seen, but I personally think it's a refreshing take on PRs.
    Score: 4/5

    Craftsmanship (Balance, Tactics)-
    I addressed balance in my post above, but what I quite like about the theme is that there's either no Insp+BG combination which makes village have an easy time winning or there's no safe way to claim for Madoka or whoever because of the amount of counterplay which the mafia has (Shroud command is very interesting and oddly effective against the specific powers which village receives in small games). This definitely allows for mindgaming and deception, which are of course great qualities to have in a mafia theme. And then there is of course the millers which can go rogue and tip the game back into mafia's favor. My only concern is that they can ruin a perfectly played game by the village due to a 50/50 shot at inspection going awry but there's really nothing you can do about that.

    Village has a lot of protective measures, so quick coordination can help the girls figure out who to protect and who to distract in order to eliminate the mafia. As for the Witches, the Shroud command is implemented in a lot of the mafia roles to somewhat counter the non-killing power roles, so the basic mafias have a good shot of avoiding detection if played correctly. Then you have the Kefka/Kuja combination which is very potent, but with the condition of not being able to take down one of the main power roles safely (hello Madoka). Last there's Walpurgisnacht whose potential is kind of unpredictable, but a votebomb with a lot of sustain should prove potent for a lone role, as well as the disgruntled soldier-esque win condition.
    Score: 5/5

    Course (Learning Curve, Flow)-
    I wouldn't actually say the roles are easy to learn, as they're far from your standard PRs due to all the personal role-to-role mechanics which goes around, along with the many votebombs and unkillable things, new players probably wouldn't like this theme as a decent learning ground, but that wasn't its intent. Still, it's one of the more complicated themes up there in terms of game play imo, which does kind of hurt its access to the majority of the mafia populace.

    The theme doesn't really revolve around kills as much as others, which is good for a theme which forces you to think. A lot centralizes on information and how the village needs to take out certain threats, as well as prioritizing what people need to go down first. There's definitely a few twists which could happen, such as Madoka being lynched and then everyone on a huge bandwagon all dying (I could see big games suddenly losing half their players in one voting phase, hypothetically of course), as well as Grief Seeds becoming mafia and causing all sorts of headaches for the village.
    Score: 4/5

    Concept-
    I kind of went through this, but the theme centralizes around the Inspector, Madoka, who no one should ever try to lynch ever, and keeping her alive because of her important vote multiplier. The rest of the girls' abilities tend to revolve around being able to protect/distract in order to acccomplish this.

    Because of the relative safeness of Madoka, there are some important mafia PRs which village needs to eliminate ASAP, that being Kirika (Kefka) and Oriko (Kuja) who can definitely get around the protection which village can give to their PRs. The rest of the mafia doesn't have this raw firepower, but they do have the Shroud command or other useful things to hang around and see if they can wait for the big power struggles to subside before swooping in and stealing the show.
    Score: 5/5
    Final Score: 23/25

    Not sure where this theme is in terms of testing/being approved, but it's a good start towards being on server permanently and hopefully mafia will revive so it can be played!

    Just going to reserve this post for my review later. Currently in the process of researching MM so that I can analyze the flavor side of the theme appropriately.

    Creativity - 4/5

    After scrolling through Wikipedia (for the village, that is. Didn't want to fully delve into the Mafia as I'll be looking at them later), most of the roles seems to match up with the actual MM characters. Madoka's the center of attention, Mami can use her ribbons to protect and distract, etc. The main problem I have character-wise is, ironically enough, Miki Sayaka, and that's with how she turns into a vigilante. Personally, I find how she turns into a vigilante to be a little... lackluster. According to Wikipedia, "As Sayaka's ideals are put against the reality of her wish's consequences and the stress of fighting, her view of the world is slowly corrupted. She becomes hateful and distrustful towards others, including Madoka, whom she lashes out at and accuses of being selfish." This easily implies something that would work via a curse, which I personally find very intruiging, but I'm sure you can justify it. Everything else seems solid enough, so you get a 4/5 here.

    Cohesion - 5/5

    As @Windblown outlined, there's definitely some visible role interaction going on, especially with roles such as Madoka and Oriko (Madoka can expose Oriko (or anyone really), but Orika can't take her out without taking herself), Hitomi and the witches, and... I'm basically reiterating Windy at this point, but he's on-point. With the help message getting fixed, there's not much, if anything, for me to criticize. None of the help messages seem klunky or out-of-place now that Kyouko's help message is fixed up. It's all a pretty solid package that never strays from the source material, so I'll give you a 5/5.

    Craftmanship (Balance, Tactics) - 4/5

    Going to go over a few various spawn-points just to see how things hold up. Going to be grabbing 5 sizes, which will ultimately account for your 5 points.

    4p
    "roles1": [
    "visitor",
    "villager",
    "villager",
    "delusionalmin1"
    ],

    So here, we have a one-cycle game, assuming that Ulla remembers to kill, that can go a few ways.

    Scenario A) Hitomi messages Ulla, Hitomi dies, becomes a game of luck.
    Scenario B) Ulla kills Hitomi, but messages one of the Bystanders. Assuming this Bystander is believed, it becomes a coinflip.
    Scenario C) Ulla kills a bystander, the same one that Hitomi messaged. Becomes a claim-game followed by a probable coin-flip unless someone gets enough conviction to believe who the real Hitomi is.
    Scenario D) Ulla kills a bystander, and Hitomi messages the surviving bystander. gg Ulla.

    There's a high amount of luck floating around here. While I understand the limitations of a 4-player game, there should still be something strategic to it. No point for this spawn.

    8p
    "roles4": [
    "sinspector",
    "pack:visitor",
    "pl",
    "villager",
    "villager",
    "delusional",
    "distrust",
    "pack:seedrand"
    ],

    In this spawn, we see a 6v1v1 set-up, with the village having a day-inspector+votebomb, neighbor, 2 villagers, a miller, and a BG/PL. One mafia has a kill and distract, being exposed as Mami, with the other mafia has something along the lines of Light Yagami's protect, though not as... well, protective. With the number set-up, you'd typically see a balance issue but due to the high amount of masked info and millers floating around here, anything that could be considered unbalanced is fixed. I'll give you a check for a point.

    14p
    "roles7": [
    "sinspector",
    "cleric",
    "pl",
    "pack:samurai",
    "tracker",
    "villager",
    "villager",
    "villager",
    "dessert",
    "kirika",
    "distrust",
    "distrustmin1",
    "seed-dessert",
    "villager"
    ],

    In this set-up, we got a 10v2v1v1. This time around, village has 4 villagers with a miller alongside the arrival of a stalker/mayor in the form of Yuma and samurai along the lines of Pit or Mogi in the form of Kyouko, and Madoka, Sayaka, Mami all returning. Their opposition this time comes in the form of Anthony+Gertrude (somewhat reminiscent of Itachi and Kisame in terms of abilities), a speedy killer that ignores distractions and reveals as a villager (Kirika), and an interesting thing that reminds me of a more useful Trixie (Charlotte). There's plenty of ways this spawn can go, but considering Mami is the main thing stopping killers, the Mafia has a pretty solid shot to get some ground here, though village can easily do the same with Kyouko and the votebomb that is Madoka. Charlotte on her own is a rather interesting force to reckon with, especially if Kyouko is out of the way. Another check for a point here.

    As far as tactical play goes, I really like the playstyle the likes of Madoka and Mami bring alone. Do I expose or not expose? Do I protect or distract? It's a nice little coupling that I really enjoy, and the fact that there's Mafia able to toy with this as well is pretty solid. That being said, there doesn't seem much else in the way of tactics going on here. Everything else functions like a normal Mafia game and there isn't really much standing out from there, except for that there's a bodyguard that can outspeed the Kefka of this game. I'll give you a 2/2 for tactics, making it a 4/5 for this section.

    Course (Learning Curve, Flow) - 4/5

    I haven't played too many games of MM, I will admit that much. But, from what I have played, everything flows fairly nicely. There doesn't seem to be times where it's reminiscent of Vepix in terms of kills, nor does it seem to be an utter stallfest. My only concern is learning the intricacies of the roles and figuring out who is on what side, but then again that's what /sides and /roles are for and I should be able to memorize it. Nothing else seems too wonky, so I'll hand you at a 4/5.

    Concept - 5/5

    @Windblown summed it up for me easily. In terms of tactics and who to hunt after first, everything is cut out pretty nicely and in its own unique format. Madoka is the center of attention, and if you try to vote her, well, you're kinda screwed. It's a very solid check to something that could otherwise terrorize the game, that being Oriko. Walpurgisnacht is a pretty solid spin on a conspirator, something we haven't seen for a while (since Sidoh, actually), and every other Mafia is able to hold up pretty easily.

    Total Score: 22/25
    Running Total: 45/50

    Sorry if the second half of this review ended up crappily, but still sick and got finals. At the same time, I had free time so I figured I'd get this done. @Sky Sentinel, @Selena Gomez, and @Cheezeburgar, let's wrap it up!

    I decided to write an unofficial review, since the Criteria System was mostly based on my suggestion, so I wanted to both try it and show a bit how I imagined it. I'm a bit too strict with my ratings, but I tried to put some feedback on parts I think some work is necessary, which is one of the main reasons I suggested the criteria system.
    CREATIVITY:
    This theme does feel like the Madoka Magika universe. There are lots of interesting references to the series in the game messages (I particularly like Village's winmsg), and even the mood in the game messages reflect the series, with all the talk about hope and despair.

    I don't know much about the spinoff series, but the main characters are quite well adapted, with Sayaka and Kyouko as the offensive roles (as expected from a sword and a spear user) and Shield-user Homura as a protector, while Mami, despite using guns, have a binding ability which is also a remarkable feature in the series. I only find it weird that an arrow can be used to expose (the way the help message explains that makes more sense than the exposemsg itself), but the Vote Multiplier ability does feel right for Madoka. The baddies (at least those I recognize) also feel right.

    I also noticed Kyouko's daykill message and Hitomi's gossip message are different every game, so that's another cool plus (BRB copying that for Mike Kirby).

    5/5

    COHESION:
    Starting with the simplest aspect here: Most of the theme is narrated by Kyubey, and the messages consistently refer to the plot of the series, so this is a plus.

    As for cohesion between characters, I feel this theme does an excellent job at that. Several characters have links with each other ability-wise, like Homura's dependence on Madoka, Walpulgisnacht's power coming from the other witches, Hitomi dying to witches, the Grief Seeds, etc. Not only that, but it's quite clear that most sides where built to work as a team instead of a group of random roles, as they feel a lot more powerful if players try to put some decent teamwork. Simply put, it does feel like each character is actually part of a bigger picture.

    The only downside I can see here is that the theme seems to have a lot of "but". Stuff like "Cannot be killed by anything except X" or "can do X most of the time, but Y can happen on certain circumstances". I understand those are an important part of creating the theme's lore, but on some cases it may make it hard to understand how reliable an ability is as there are quite a few of those specific rules. This is a minor issue though (I would only reduce the score by 0.5), but it may be finetune those rules so people won't think there's a contradiction in their roles abilities/information.

    5/5 (I'd put 4.5, but the idea is to not have decimals, so I rounded up since the rest of the stuff is really well done).

    CRAFTMANSHIP:
    I don't feel like making a breakdown on the spawn lists (it's an unofficial review, after all), so I will approach the spawn differently.
    First, the Village:Mafia ratio. This seems to be a bit too tight on some parts. In most of them there seems to be a normal Village to Mafia ratio, but given the number of kills, that ratio could easily break in after 1 or 2 turns. For example, 13p can have 2 nightkills N1, then a daykill D1, then 2 people dying by poison and possibly Sayaka as a vigilante adding to 3 nightkills. And there's also Grief Seeds, which can increase the nightkill count at some later point. So if no crossfire happen N1, the ratio will go from 9:4 to 7:4, and even if village gets a good lynch, the 2 poison could make that ratio go to 3:3 by D2. Of course, this is on an extreme situation, but even then some more space for misses could help. The main point here is that although the ratio seems OK, there are a few roles that can change it quite quickly (especially the miller). If anything, introducing mafia sides more slowly could be enough (so even keeping the Village:Mafia ratio as it is, but changing the Mafia:Other Mafia ratio for better control).

    One of the strong points of this theme is how unique each side is. Each of them have a different strength, and at least on paper it seems mostly fair (Oriko seems a bit too much though), so players must be prepared to fight different types of threats. But the interesting part is that mostly of them can actually do that, although a few bad match-ups still exist (like Sulleika/Ulla vs. Oriko, and most baddies vs. Akuma). On the other hand, those bad matchups at least force players (especially mafia, which is a bit of rare to see in themes) to actually define their prioritary targets instead of going "kill everyone and their dog", so while Village is a side focused on strong teamwork, the baddies also need to elaborate some tactics to obtain success, which seems to be quite viable to do so (but maybe a few sides like Dark Witch may need something else to at least avoid being a sitting duck to roles like Oriko and Akuma).

    In any case, as I already mentioned, Village does seem to be a very teamwork-oriented side, but they still need to play smartly or they will be destroyed by their own (former) teammates, so I can see baddies making use of that to deploy some interesting tactics.

    3/5

    COURSE:
    Important to note here is that I never actually play this theme (only watched a few times), so this part will be rated mostly by what I can see on paper (which is not really different from how most reviews will have to go from now on AKA write this part before a test).

    First, as I mentioned before, it does feel like the number of kills during the night can get a bit high (just slightly though, so not an issue), but what worries me is the number of stuff that can happen during the voting phase. A few roles that survive a lynch, and then a few others that can kill a lot of players when lynched can make the voting phase a bit confusing (but at least there are not many different vote counts, so that aspect is still simple).

    Another thing that worries me is if there are enough abilities to obtain information. Surely, there are plenty of information roles, but there's also quite a lot of ways to prevent them from working, which may lead to a low amount of information going around when added to the number of possible deaths. This doesn't seem to affect village that much, but since some baddies have to be aware of each other, maybe this could be improved for them.

    Roles names are not that easy to pick and distinguish sides (even for someone who watched the series), but this is not really a problem with the theme as the source material is that way. What can actually make things a bit harder on the learning aspect is that the 2 sides with "Magical Girls" on their name could get confused, and all the Witches sides too (especially since there's a role simply called "Witch").
    On the other sides, the roles and their abilities are quite easy to grasp, with only a few exceptions (Walpurgis and Akuma, and Shroud command), but the number of roles that can change forms might make it a bit hard for first timers.

    2/5

    CONCEPT:
    I believe this theme have what it needs to stand out from other other themes. Although I mentioned they can be complex for first timers, roles like Homura, Walpurgisnacht and even Grief Seed are quite interesting. Akuma Homura having to protect an "enemy" is quite amusing too, as it creates a nice conflict within village ("what to do about Homura?").

    Overall, the theme seems to be able to create interest on its players, as most of the time they won't be playing by themselves (as in "they constantly need to colaborate with someone else") and the theme seems to offer quite a number of plot twists.

    Maybe a possible negative aspect is that lots of parts of this theme seem to be too plot-centred, being necessary a very specific way to deal with some threats. Some more openess in this aspect could be considered if some situations turn out to be too repetitive/predictable.

    4/5

    Total: 19/25 (Remember, this is an unofficial review)

    Technical stuff:
    -On Akuma Homura (and possibly more roles, if you used the same code) the "msg" field on the kill.ignore ability is actually displayed to the person that tried to kill her, not the Homura herself. There's no way to set a message to be displayed to the evader (unless you use dummy messages that are evaded by everyone else, which would be far too much trouble). "targetmsg" is only valid for mode.ChangeTarget/die/killif abilities (Yeah, I'm at fault here too since the checker should warn about it).
    -Lots of roles are missing the "Sided with Blablabla" on /roles info. Some of those solo, but even then it would still be better to have that part.
    -This one is actually a hint, not an issue: On SpawnPacks, you can simply omitt the "chance" array if you intend all elements within that pack have the same chance. Also, if the pack will only use 1 slot, you could simply use Random Spawn instead of Spawn Pack (unless you are too lazy to use Random Spawn on each appearance).

    I have fixed this. Thank you for pointing it out.

    I'll look in curtailing narration, but I'm not sure where I can do this. I'm too attached to most of it to recognize where it's unnecessary :<

    I can see where you're coming from. Would it be better for the sake of flavor to make it literally a curse? Like, in 3 days you automatically become vigilante Sayaka?

    Hm. I think Hitomi sniping at the end of the night phase would make things more interesting. It would also work better if everyone fake claimed Hitomi and announced a target (a la Link in 4p Zelda). But your point is valid, it's pretty luck based.

    I had a thought by the way. Would it better to give Ulla and Bystanders a chance to hax Hitomi? Maybe 15% to show target, 5% to show reveal Player? Could create some interesting mind-games maybe. I'd also give it to basically all baddies so it can't be spammed in larger games.

    Mami doesn't reveal to her target anymore. I tested it out briefly and didn't like it. The premise of this setup is supposed to be that two people are going to claim Mami, and the real Mami having lower priority means you can't just ask them to PL each other. However, there is a solution, being that you can ask both Mamis to vote Madoka off in a 3v1 scenario (leaving only the villager/hitomi alive). This requires finding Suleika first though.

    It is unbalanced. Hm. Suleika probably needs a buff, otherwise they have a disadvantage due to losing 1v1v1s with Gertrude all the time. Idk, I could make Shroud block kills. Gertrude could still bop them by PLing them. Also Sayaka pierces Protect.

    Should I take the Grief Seed out of 8p? Or should I make it 100% Suleika's Seed? (Currently it is random.) It might help with balance, since going from 4v1v1 to 3v1v1 + mafia consp is pretty devastating in such a small game.

    You get a try hard trophy. :D

    I was actually worried about this being too much. I would take it away if people thought it was detracting from gameplay.

    It is pretty convoluted. More than any other theme I've had people downright confused by some aspects, and considering Walpurgis/Homura haven't even spawned in any games yet it's not even at its worst.

    Would it help if I went over some of the important relationships in /Tips? Like Oriko with Madoka?

    I could also simplify some things. If I made Madoka bomb daykills, Oriko still wouldn't really be able to kill her, but Kyouko would still have the ability to end the game in a scenario where the only bad left is Akuma. Less clusterfuck conditionality by saying 'Madoka can only be daykilled by Kyouko'.

    Are you counting two poisons? Charlotte only has 1. It's also possible for Sayaka to cure someone if they claim Poisoned.

    Since Sayaka and Yuma both soak a nightkill without dying, there's also fewer kills total. Both have their own ways of turning 3v2v1 or 3v1v1v1 into village favor. There's also a chance Kyouko can kill the Seed if she's alive when it's exposed (Charlotte will evade but the Seed will not), avoiding the chance of it flipping sides.

    When you say Mafia:Mafia ratio could be improved, do you mean 9v2v2 would be better than 9v1v1v2? The way it is currently, Charlotte is resilient to the vote phase and to xfire, and Kirika is just really hard for village to find, in addition to exerting shield pressure on Sayaka (it has priority over Mami's BG). While I think Kirika might be underpowered, I'm not sure how to buff her for just this scenario, since when Oriko comes in that faction is relatively overpowered. I still feel like 2 Distrust are on even terms with 1 Dessert. But an alternative could be to re-introduce Suleika/Ulla, or to add Elsa Maria or something.

    Back to buffing Dark Witch. Since there's literally no way for Dark to beat Oriko, it would be better if they didn't spawn together. I'll replace them in medium-large games with Gertrude.

    Alternatively I could give them sort of gimmick. Countering daykills maybe? That isn't a thing for any other sides yet - don't know how to justify that with flavor though.

    There's 4 information roles on the village. As for mafia, they are sort of forced to guess. At least the expose is public info. And they do get info on who's a miller.

    Would you suggest giving someone a mafia inspect?

    I've been trying to think about how "Homicial Magical Girls" can be improved. Incidentally, this is part of why Kyouko's help message specifies they can kill Magical Girls as well. As far as a faction, it's really just two 'friends' in the liberally ai shoujo sense who want to kill people. I'll think it over some more.

    Part of that has to do with the complex conditionality. I'm not sure how I can do this without undoing large parts of the game. However, I hope that early decisions / events in the game will help to shape the way it plays out. For instance, if Kirika dies n1 or d1, there's no need to lynch Homura to keep Madoka safe from Kirika. If Oriko gets exposed without Kyouko being around, she'll rand someone, resulting in some sort of chaotic result (accidentally hits a Seed/Sayaka/vote bomb).

    Oops. I guess that flavor has to go.

    Partly because I got carried away with customization.

    (11:58:32) ±Role: Gertrude
    (11:58:32) ±Ability: The Distrustful Witch. She can kill and distract one person during the night. Appears as Mami if Exposed.

    (12:00:30) ±Role: Anthony
    (12:00:30) ±Ability: Gertrude's minion; he shares her Kill. He can also Protect (also Safeguards). Sided with Distrust Witch.

    Since Gertrude is literally the Distrustful Witch I didn't want to have to use ~Sided~. But if it's misleading I'll fix it. Also I did outright forget some, like Ulla.

    I am too lazy to do it the long way, so packs are just a shortcut for repetition and making the roles list neater. But I guess I can just leave the percentages out.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone, keep them coming ~

    Wow I could swear I read Charlotte had 2 poisons. Fail me.
    As for Mafia:Mafia ratio, I usually like less sides around on games with 14 players or less. If 2:2 is too hard, you can always try a 3:1 (possibly having one of the mafia side start with a Witch?). If not, just being careful with the Grief Seed could help, as a villager any role changing sides can hurt a lot on those game sizes.

    As for information abilities for mafia, I was thinking Sulleika/Ulla are a bit underwhelming, so I would think something for them.

    For the plot-centered gameplay, I think it's OK to keep it as it is now since it's nothing game-breaking, just keep an eye in case it ends repetitive.

    I might give Charlotte two poisons. Partly because Sayaka counters her with only one poison, and having two would force Sayaka to make more decisions (you can only heal one). Also partly to buff Charlotte in 5p setup.

    (10:52:52) ±Murkrow: Miki Sayaka updated the theme MM.

    Suleika/Elsa Maria got a buff. Now in addition to their Shroud blocking normal night commands, it causes the target to evade Madoka's Expose. Additionally, Suleika/Elsa Maria got their own Expose (actually a day-inspect) which can be used only on someone they shrouded. So instead of Shroud just obstructing information, it also intercepts it. Self-shrouding and then self-inspecting can also be used to "clean" oneself, although we'll see how that meta develops (a la 3p Zelda).

    On the flip-side, I don't suppose this update helps with the theme being confusing.

    I also changed spawn again. Mid-sized games are 2:2:6 to 2:2:9 to 2:2:9:1. Kirika got pushed back and only spawns with Oriko now. The 1 is Charlotte, and given such a prominent role I think two poisons makes more sense.

    I believe this is not a good way to score this criteria, since this part is not only about balance. Stuff like how open to tactical/skillful plays should also be here. And this could also make you miss some game size with a serious issue (especially for a theme like this one, that has millions of spawn lists).

    Well, to be more precise, giving points based on key sizes is not a bad idea per se, but that shouldn't be the only part to be considered.

    I was unsure if i should have done this review because as fan of the Puella Magi series i feared to not be objective as judge, but because no one else is doing it i think it's time to write a pair of lines.

    Creativity-
    As adaptation from Puella Magi Madoka this theme is faithful to the original source.
    It even takes elements from spinoff and behind the backstage elements, like some of the witches' familiars' names which during the show never were revealed.
    The messages too are congruent with the Anime and as extra the bot shares my same username, which means i cannot be disappointed with it. ^^

    --VOTE: 5/5

    Cohesion-
    The sides seems well thought and the character's abilities express well their behavior inside their Cartoon, for exemple Homura transformation into Akuma homura and her desire to protect Madoka is reflected into her role.
    The roles seems to work well with their teams, like the madoka and homura relationship where homura needs to protect her even if she is no more part of her team or the Shadow a team which is the team with more shroud commands and her Leader Elsa Maria can expose whoever got shrouded that night.
    The only thing that i wonder if it is good: is about how to kill Akuma Homura, because she dies only if madoka dies, so i wonder if it is ok for the village to lynch their exposer .

    --VOTE: 4/5

    Craftsmanship (Balance, Tactics)-
    The village-mafia ratio is more or less 3:1 which in most of the themes is one of the most balanced ratio, but this theme is full of small teams so most of the kills are not shared apart with one or 2 partners and some of this teams have extra kills too, from what i see the small games should be balanced enough, but lately is really hard to start a game with more then 5 players so i cannot check if the extra kills could be too much or no.
    As Rice said: every team has his own strenght and every team works in a different way which means that everyone has to think well what type of enemy is better to kill before and what of them is easier to defeat in the final part of the game, obviously some of this roles is more powerful then other but the weaker roles typically spawn with more roles on their side, we have only to understand if their number balance their opponents' power.

    --VOTE: 3/5

    Course (Learning Curve, Flow)-
    The learning curve of this theme is not immediate on a medium level, the motive is that most of the roles uses unusual abilities and tactics which sometimes even changes depending by who is the target of that action.
    Some roles' messages changes randomly which on the creativity said is very good, but sometimes could create a little confusion (just a little anyway)
    How easy is to follow what's happening during a game.
    Like body, here too there are roles which change sides if certain requirement happen, making everything more interesting.
    On the flow point anyway: as i said previously there is an high number of kill actions inside this game which could end the game faster then we want.

    --VOTE: 3/5

    Concept-
    First of all I love dynamic roles and this theme is full of them between roles that changes sides and other that gain or lose power depending by what happens.
    Meanwhile some of the roles are pretty classic (like the kefka/kuja setup by Oriko/Kirika ) other roles are pretty original like Akuma which needs to protect an enemy to win or the Shroud ability of the witches.
    The tips of this theme are good but i think there should be one to explain what is Shroud too because some info nominate it but doesn't explain what it does.
    In the end is a nice theme, maybe will not be liked by people who likes more classic themes and is not the best theme for new players but I think that it is surely loved by whoever wants something different from the typical mafia situation.

    Extra comments:
    Here some questions I wanted to ask you but i wasn't unable to insert inside the review:
    1)Because some actions are witches related wouldn't it be better to write Witch at the start of their translation name? something like "Witch Walpurgisnacht", actually I am unsure about this because in the end we can understand who is a witch because their name are more germanic/european-like meanwhile the magical girl names sounds pretty japanese but for people who doesn't know the show this could not be so simple to understand this.
    2)The Elsa Maria info not hidden is incomplete meanwhile her shrouded version has a complete info that explain her ability to expose shrouded people but is "hidden":true. Could you fix it please?
    3)Shouldn't Walpurgis get back some of the vote lost when a grief seed became a witch?
    4)I was unable to understand why some version of homura are immune to distract, can you please explain it to me?

    Well this is all, for now the situation is 3/4 reviews done for this theme and an actual total score of 64/72 points.

    Sorry for the delay, I've finally set aside enough to time to really work on this theme. I'll fix the outstanding errors immediately.

    Based on gameplay, especially in small games, I'm thinking of making the following change:

    - Madoka's Expose doesn't reveal Madoka
    - Madoka can self-expose
    - Expose shows "team" (but only shows Witch/Magical Girl).

    I would also remove Millers and make Shroud pretty standard on all Witches, removing Millers/Moles altogether.

    Instead of Grief Seed I would introduce something similar in functionality to Disgruntled from FE, while also simplifying several other roles. I will remove some of the clusterfuck conditionality.

    What I'm going to work on most is spawn, it seems to be the most difficult part in balancing this.

    Edit: Updated.
    (14:00:25) ±Role: Walpurgisnacht
    (14:00:25) ±Ability: Cannot be killed. Can shroud once per night. If lynched, she kills everyone who voted her. Wins with all Witches, but dies if all Witches are defeated. Vote counts as 0.5
    (14:00:25) ±Players: 9-11, 15-41 Players

    (14:00:50) ±Role: Madoka
    (14:00:50) ±Ability: Can /Expose someone during the day without being revealed. Bombs all voters if lynched. Vote multiplier of 2 in games of 15+. Sided with Magical Girl.

    I want to see some Walpurgisnacht-claims-Madoka scenarios come of this.

    A couple other noticeable changes are Elsa Maria having 3.5 Vote and Yuma -3.

    @Obey to Kyubey, Homura ignores Distract only when she's double-converting such that she doesn't get trapped in her second "form".

    This final review is LONG overdue, but at long last, here it is.

    Creativity
    There really isn't that much to say here. All of the game messages contribute to the feelings of hope and despair that are consistently present through both this theme and the anime itself. The flavor is probably the strongest aspect of this theme (not to take away from other aspects in any way), such as the multiple messages for Hitomi's gossip and Kyouko's daykill. The abilities of the characters in the theme match their abilities and personalities in the anime (Madoka, the strongest magical girl, being a powerful votebomb and vote doubler, Sayaka's regenerative ability allowing her to survive a nightkill, Mami's ribbons that can suspend enemies [PL] and posess healing magic [BG]). The atmosphere the theme brings really is that of the Madoka Magica universe.

    Cohesion

    I know I'm just reiterating what the other reviewers have said, but a lot of the characters' abilities in the theme are also based off of how they interact with each other in the anime (Walpurgisnacht can't be killed until all witches die, only Madoka can be protected by Homura's protect and the protect outspeeds everything, Homura's dependency on Madoka even after Homura is lynched, etc.). I personally love what you did with kyubey--he isn't a role in this theme, but is the bot that explains everyone's abilities and narrates the events that occur during the theme, which is well suited for him considering all he does in the anime is give people powers, then sit back to enjoy all the ensuing chaos.

    Craftsmanship

    Looking at the spawn, Gertrude seems a little weak in games of 7 and 8 players. While she can distract, I feel it's only useful for stopping Sayaka only after she has been lynched (since Sayaka's /shield outspeeds Gertrude's distract) and maybe preventing or delaying crossfire if Suleika is aiming at her. Her kill is also slower than Suleika's. I didn't really look that much into games of 25 or more, but Itzli also seems very weak as a solo role, seeing as it can only kill 2 people each night. It has no additional abilities, making it vulnerable to just about anything in the game. Each side has its own potential advantages and specialties: Suleika and Ulla are probably the strongest during the day, as they have multiple shrouds to protect themselves in addition to Suleika's day inspect and ability to counter daykills. Charlotte can mislead others with her fake poison (especially useful for throwing off Sayaka) and has very high survivability. Anthony and Gertrude offer control with their respective protect and distract. Kirika and Oriko probably have the most damage potential, but they are kept in check by quite a few roles, so they have to lay low (especially Oriko) for most of the game. Elsa and Sebastian can somewhat control the voting phase without being too obvious, and Sebastian is a votebomb, giving them even more power during the voting phase. I already touched base on how I felt Itzli was weak, and Walpurgisnacht gets stronger as the games get larger and more witches appear (supposedly). The village is significantly strong but has to connect and find information in silence to avoid being detected and eliminated by specific mafia factions. As Windblown said in his review, I enjoy the idea that there is just about no clear cut way for someone to safely claim, and the village definitely needs to think and make decisions wisely with the information they collect during a game. The best example is Madoka's expose; Kirika and Oriko reveal as Magical Girls, and in the event that a witch is exposed, any rushed action taken by the village is easily punished (Suleika countering daykills, Walpurgisnacht, and the various mafia votebombs). While Kirika and Oriko are very powerful, I feel there are still enough threats to keep them in check, but Homura might become too strong after she is lynched when Madoka is still alive. As a solo role whose only weakness is the death of one specific person that she can protect without being disrupted in any way, she almost takes over the entire game. The few checks that she does have will have to essentially reveal (and possibly sacrifice) themselves (and most likely be eliminated the night after Akuma dies) in order to take down Madoka (Oriko's daykill if she knows who Madoka is or her vote to lynch Madoka--Madoka being a votebomb herself). Lastly, the shroud command alone makes this theme one that is full of deception.
    Score: 3/5

    Course

    A theme with a few new commands that affect a lot of gameplay and a lot of specific abilities will naturally be difficult to learn at first, especially for newer players and even for very experienced players. While the game isn't a killfest, it is one with quite a few twists that develop as different roles are killed. This keeps the theme relatively fast-paced (but not too fast), but introduces a lot of information and presents multiple possible scenarios that most people (or at least myself) will be slow to pick up on and get accustomed to. As obey mentioned, a few of the roles or playstyles are comparable to those of other themes, such as Kirika and Oriko being similar to Kefka and Kuja as well as Homura switching sides if she is lynched (Immune System becoming Leukemia if Bone Marrow dies or is lynched), and these particular aspects will help players learn these relatively simple roles along with the complex situations that develop from them as the game progresses.
    Score: 3/5

    Concept

    As everyone has already stated, the theme revolves around Madoka, but not in terms of safety such as Link in Zelda, Heart in Body, or Mike Kirby in Kirby. While the village is attempting to gather information, the mafia will be attempting to prevent it via shroud or gather some information of their own via Oriko's day inspect. As Windblown mentioned, while some mafia roles (Kirika and Oriko) pose a greater threat to the village than others, this will allow the less threatening mafia roles (Elsa, Sebastian, Walpurgisnacht) to gather momentum as power roles from the village and mafia fall. As long as Madoka remains alive, there's always the wild card Homura to consider; the more mafia threats are eliminated, the harder it will be for her to lose if she is lynched. As confusing and overwhelming as the possible situations can be, I honestly think that it's those situations, coupled with the excellent flavor of this theme, that make this theme exciting to play.

    Hopefully this review is decent enough to be accepted, as I am well aware that I copy/pasted part of everyone's review and called it my own repeated what others had already said quite a few times.
