What the title says. What is a pokemon who's name you have said wrong for the longest time, and maybe still do?

Instead of Rattata, I used to say Rattatatta.

Instead of Swinub, I used to say Swih-noob.

    What have you mispronounced?

    Suicune.
A friend kept pronouncing it "sewer-sign" and it sorta stuck with me.
I still find myself doing it occasionally now.

And yes I realise that makes no sense

Holy hell, I actually had a really similar thing- I always thought of Suicune as very similar pronunciation (Soo-ih-Seen). It was years before I actually looked at the thing's spelling and realised it made no sense

I always got Houndoom and Houndour's names mixed up, same with Tentacool and Tentacruel, not really a mispronunciation but a mistake I made as a kid

Kyogre was Ky-oh-gue for whatever reason.

I've always said Gen-sect instead of Gen-e-sect and it's just too late to go back now

We've gone seven posts and no one has said they pronounced Arceus "Arrr see us" instead of "Ar kay us"? Or is the thing the other way around, I don't know. I just call it ExtremeKiller to myself and everyone is happy. :>

Mesprit is a Pokémon whose pronunciation has caused me a good amount of confusion over the years. Until a few years ago I thought it was Mes-pi-rit and pronounced it trisyllabic. After getting the spelling right, I mistook its pronunciation as Mes-pree (y'know, French). I still believe it should be pronounced that way but official sources dissent. Usually, if something looks like it might have a phonetical quirk in English (foreign letter behavior) it's best to reference the Japanese name (if it's similar). Vivillon, for example, is Bi-bi-yon in Japanese, alerting the French double L in English. Mesprit does have a T sound in its Japanese name, so I digress.

Also apparently (people tell me) Uxie is pronounced Ook-see in English? Japanese is Yuxie though. I've pronounced it both ways in the past and am still not sure which is correct. I go with Yuxie nowadays.

Other mistakes are: Pa-chu-RI-su as Pa-CHI-ri-su for a long time. The Hoenn Pokérap demolished my ability to pronounce legendaries from 3rd gen. Dialga as Dye-al-gah, though it should be Dee-all (long A) -gah.

Possibly the most embarrassing one I've crossed is the Nidorans. Before I knew what gender symbols were, I understood those things at the end of their names to be a "key". So, I still have a natural tendency to stumble out Nidoran-key. Not even making this up!

I'm pretty sure I mispronounced and still mispronounce Scizor, but I'm not sure how it's actually meant to be said.
