I like making mafia themes, especially for universes that I'm familiar with. I'm aware of the Brawl theme already on the server, and I have no complaints if no one is interested in having a Melee one as well. The universes are similar, but not clones; however, many of the characters are still the same, and I understand if people feel it would be too redundant. Furthermore, it would be confusing, especially for new players, if two themes existed with many overlapping roles if their actions were not identical. Even if they were identical, why make another theme that is only barely different? I'm prepared to drop this project if there is a lack of interest. Nonetheless, I want to at least post the skeleton I have. If it is popular enough, maybe I'll develop an actual script for it. Anyhow, here's the theme. Sides Spoiler Heroes (Mostly): Mario, Dr Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Peach, Samus, Pikachu, Pichu, Jigglypuff, Marth, Roy, Ness, Captain Falcon, Kirby Starfox Mafia: Fox, Falco Triforce Mafia: Zelda, Link/Young Link, Ganondorf, Kings of Evil: Bowser, Mewtwo Game&Watch: Game & Watch Ice Climbers: Nana and Popo Roles Spoiler Mario Villager, can vote and nothing more. Dr. Mario Miller, thinks they're Mario but inspects as Fox/Mewtwo/G&W Luigi -1 vote Yoshi Bodyguard Donkey Kong Sided with village, but kills Protectors, Inspectors, Copiers, and Distractors. Also bombs nightkills. Peach Can /Distract. Samus Can /inspect. Alternatively, she can /Bomb to kill nightkillers, but this cancels inspect and has a charge limit based on the size of the game. Pikachu Vigilante. Pichu Also a vigilante, but its kill has 100% suicide chance. However, it outspeeds bodyguards, distractors, and even Sheik. Sees self as Pikachu on startup. Jigglypuff Thinks it's Peach, and has a command /Distract. However, the distract is a dummy that doesn't do anything but send the PL message (yes I've been trying to work this into a theme for some time now). Doesn't die on DK/Bowser/Sheik. Marth Thinks he's Roy, has a vote of -3. Roy Has a vote of 4. Ness Can /Watch. Also can self /Reveal during the day. Captain Falcon Samurai Kirby Can /copy. Can /reject and /copy again the same night. Fox Shared kill. Can /Distract Falco Shared kill. Can /Protect. Young Link Shared kill. Inspects as Mario. Never spawns with Link. Link Shared kill. Can /Protect. Inspects as Mario. Never spawns with Young Link. Zelda Shared kill. Can /Inspect. Vote of 2. /Transforms into Sheik. Sheik Kefka. /Transforms info Zelda. Ganondorf Kuja, doesn't know team. Bowser Shared kill. Kills Inspectors, Distractors, Copiers and Protectors. Mewtwo Shared kill. Vote of 4. Game & Watch Can daykill (non-revealing). Vote of 3.5. Nana Can /Protect, shares kill. Popo Can /Protect, shares kill. Spawn I'd probably make small games focused around Samus/Yoshi/DK/Jiggly/Peach/Zelda/Fox. Ganon and G&W wouldn't show up until very late. Clones spawn together. Young Link spawns small, games, Link in larger ones. Triforce Mafia is probably OP. Oh well. So yeah, let me know what you think. I'm totally up for progressing this theme. At the same time, this took like less than a day to make, so I'm not particularly attached to it. I'd honestly think there would be too much role confusion between the two. I didn't look over what each does, but it might be difficult for some players to remember "Oh X did Y in Brawl, but Z in Melee." I forsee a lot of people mixing up what roles can do. I also remember people being like "SLICE META KNIGHT" in the Brawl theme a long time ago, I'm sure at least a fraction of those legitimately believed MK could slice in there.
I even actually added /slice to SSBB to make it up for that (And because of balance stuff). IMO, having 2 Smash themes is going to be a mess. Then again, people keep asking if I will update SSBB with SSB4 stuff, to which I always answer I won't, since they are different games (especially roster-wise), so it wouldn't be SSBB anymore. On the other side, what I actually thought about is replacing SSBB with a 'Smash' theme to include characters from the entire series (AKA Melee, Brawl and SSB4 characters), but that would mean over 50 roles. It would possibly not even be a Village vs. Mafia setup anymore.
Ah, I figured as much. Especially considering roles like Link which already double in Brawl and Zelda. It was fun to make anyway ~ @IceKirby, I can see why that might be a bad idea, but you don't necessarily have to incorporate all roles in the same setup. Some roles could be made to appear in only small games, while others are larger game spawns. It can work and retain its village vs mafias setup imo. The main challenge I think would be making it possible to keep track of every individual role (especially with transformations). Thanks for the speedy responses!
I didn't even consider trying to have all roles in the same setup. But even separating roles by setup and using random spawn, it was already hard enough to fit the 36 characters into SSBB. If you count all SSB games, there will be at least 52 playable characters. And SSB4 was not even released yet (I'm expecting a few hidden unannounced characters to be in like there was with Brawl)! BTW, the reason I said it could end not being a Village vs. Mafia setup is because SSB would fit a Faction-based theme very well flavor-wise, the server doesn't have many of those around and SSBB was already hard enough to make a village setup (Village currently has 22 different characters!).
