General Imbued with the power of a thousand thunder storms, Arceus assumes its electrical guise to do battle in the Ubers metagame. In this forme, Arceus has only a single weakness to Ground and a complete immunity to paralysis. Electric STAB is very potent in Ubers, with common Pokémon like Kyogre, Ho-Oh, Yveltal and Lugia being weak to it, and when used alongside Ice Beam Electric Arceus has fantastic neutral coverage. This combined with its great speed, bulk and Calm Mind make it a fearsome special sweeper. Electric Arceus has a few flaws though. Pure Electric typing lacks useful resistances, and although it only has one weakness, Ground moves are common. It also has trouble with dedicated special walls like Blissey. Calm Mind Arceus @ Zap Plate Trait: Multitype Timid Nature (+Spd -Atk) EV: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Calm Mind Judgment / Thunderbolt Ice Beam Recover Boost once or twice with Calm Mind and then sweep. As for STAB, go with Judgment if you prefer the power; Thunderbolt if you prefer the extra PP and a chance to paralyse. Ice Beam forms the BoltBeam combination with the STAB move, hitting everything commonly seen in Ubers for neutral damage. Recover keeps Arceus alive longer, allowing it to bag more boosts. As this set is designed to sweep, Speed and Special Attack are maximised. With maximum Special Attack, Arceus can 2HKO 252/0 Groudon with an unboosted Ice Beam most of the time. A bulkier set up of 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 Spd could work too, if you'd rather have more bulk. If you desire power and bulk you could get away with dropping Speed to 112 EVs to outrun max Speed Garchomp, and then place the extra 144 EVs in HP. Synergy Strong physical attackers like Ho-Oh, Groudon and Mega Mewtwo X are recommended to soften up the special walls so Arceus can sweep unhindered. Entry hazards are much appreciated to help Arceus get KOs it otherwise couldn't get. Sticky Web is also helpful, since Electric Arceus takes out the Flying types that would otherwise be immune. Yveltal can take out Giratina while rendering Blissey set up fodder with Taunt. It can also switch in on the Ground moves Arceus draws and Arceus can switch in on the Electric moves Yveltal draws. Mixed Xerneas can help clear the way for it to sweep by removing Blissey and Giratina with Close Combat and Moonblast respectively. Entry hazards are always helpful to get extra KOs: Skarmory can set up both Stealth Rock and Spikes, and is immune to Electric Arceus's sole weakness, while Electric Arceus resists the Electric moves Skarmory's weak to. Other Options Calm Mind sweeper is what it's best at - other sets don't work nearly as well. You could drop Calm Mind for a support set, using Defog or Will-O-Wisp in its place, but Support sets are better done by formes with better defensive typing. There are several tweaks you could make to the Calm Mind set. Thunder could replace Judgment as the STAB. It trades accuracy for more power and a 30% paralysis chance. However, Judgment or Thunderbolt are recommended since without permanent Rain Thunder is far less reliable. Another attack could replace Recover for some extra coverage. Focus Blast and Grass Knot are generally the best moves to use if you decide to do that, since the former wrecks Dialga while the latter OHKOs 252/0 Groudon at +1, which Ice Beam can't do. Substitute could also be run instead of Recover to defend against status, but Arceus will get worn very quickly without Wish support. If you choose to run Substitute, a set up of 96 HP, 160 SAtk, 252 Spd is recommended so you can make 4 101 HP Substitutes. Spacial Rend could be used instead of Ice Beam to hit Dragon types harder, but overall Ice Beam offers better coverage with the Electric STAB. Refresh could also be used to rid Arceus of status, but then you have to give up either Recover or Ice Beam, neither of which is advisable. Checks and Counters Blissey can wall Electric Arceus all day and stall it out with Toxic. Ferrothorn and defensive Dialga can do much the same, but both will fall eventually since they lack reliable recovery. If Groudon is running a spread of 252 HP/252 Atk, it can endure a +1 Ice Beam and OHKO back with Earthquake, although it needs a Life Orb to guarantee the OHKO without hazards. Life Orb Excadrill is in much the same boat. Specially Defensive Giratina can handle most of Electric Arcues's assaults and phaze it out but will lose if Arceus is the last Pokémon left on its team. Kyurem-W resists Judgment and can take Ice Beams well, but if Arceus has grabbed a boost before it comes in it will lose. Ground Arceus can take it down with its own STABs, but boosted Ice Beams will 2HKO. Toxic & Toxic Spikes are a good way of keeping Electric Arceus in check, since that puts a timer on its sweep.
Slash Ice Beam with Grass Knot because like you said not even max SP. Atk +1 Ice Beam kills Groudon. Also not sure what Spacial Rend does besides hit certain Dragons harder but Ice Beam just works better imo. Thunderbolt over Judgement (or slash it at least) because the loss of power is minuscule and the 10% paralysis is cool. I know you mention entry hazards pair well with it but mention Sticky Web explicitly as it takes down annoying flyers that couldn't be slown down otherwise and it's just a good thing to pair with in general. Also in CC put Amoonguss kek/10 my friend
The trouble is Grass Knot gets significantly worse coverage with the Electric STAB than Ice Beam. Every Dragon apart from Palkia and Rayquaza now walls you completely. I will slash Thunderbolt in with Judgment, but as for Amoongus: +1 252 SpA Arceus-Electric Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Amoonguss: 232-274 (53.7 - 63.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery And it can't do much back, while Arceus can Recover off whatever damage it does and boost it its face.
Amoonguss will (should) always be equipped with an Assault Vest +1 252 SpA Arceus-Electric Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Amoonguss: 156-184 (36.1 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO Clear Smog removes boosts, and it could stall it out with Sludge Bomb poison
Change every Chansey mention to Blissey. Chansey is shit in XY Ubers (hi MGengar/Gothitelle). If you're using Ferrothorn to beat CM Arceus it'll most likely have Toxic too, so mention that. Dialga almost always has Toxic, so it can do more than just Roaring it out. Mention Excadrill as a counter. Amoonguss is kinda bad and will always lose 1 on 1 That's about it good job
Excadrill is not a counter. Even with 252 HP EVs, it's still 2HKOd by a +1 Ice Beam most of the time and Earthquake isn't a OHKO without a Life Orb +1 252 SpA Arceus-Electric Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Excadrill: 198-233 (46.6 - 54.9%) -- 66.4% chance to 2HKO 252+ Atk Mold Breaker Excadrill Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arceus-Electric: 318-374 (83.4 - 98.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO I will mention it as a good check, since it will win one on one if Arceus hasn't bagged any boosts. Also, just out of interest, why would Blissey be less affected by Mega Gengar than Chansey?
It needs max hp and speed to act as a nice pivort for balance/stall js, max spec attack is useless as it neeeds to fit atleast these 3 rolls when on most teams; yveltal switch in ho-oh switch in bulky pivort for balance
with leftovers and flamethrower it can beat it or with shed shell it can escape. chansey can do neither of those things and just sits there taunted till it dies Also most if not all Excadrill run Jolly Life Orb at the moment, and switching in on a +1 Ice Beam is an unrealistic scenario considering that implies two free turns for your opponent ALSO YES ABSOLUTELY LISTEN TO PROBS i missed that
OK, changed Excadrill Are you talking about Blissey or Electric Arceus here? Because if you're using Electric Arceus as a bulky pivot for balanced/stall teams, you're using it wrong. Special Sweeper is by far and away its best role. Support Rock Arceus is a better bulky pivot: because nothing's immune to its STAB it can run either Defog or a phazing move.
You aren't using it necessarily as a pivot, but with max HP it can work as a check to those mons (and you can never have enough of those) also yes clearly that's about eleceus
I suppose, but it's still not optimal. A Life Orb (or Choice Band in Ho-Oh's case) boosted Sacred Fire/Dark Pulse will still 2HKO after Rocks though, and bulkier spreads generally work better on forms with better defensive typing like Ghost Arceus. I'll mention a bulkier spread in OO, but I've had much better results with max speed max power.
its bulky enough to work as a pivort lol, I meant that as in for if you 'lack a palkia switchin' its a nice thing to have taking 50% from moves and recovering them off while they get lo recoil or you use to scout what move the mons guna lock itself into is good enough, please don't tell me I'm wrong when I've been looking through half these sets which you've approved and I'm stunned. Take advice from someone who actually plays this game at a decent enough level
OK fair enough you make a good point. Just so you know though, I have played a lot of XY Ubers with my most successful team peaking at 1520 so I have played the game at a high level. I have mentioned a bulkier spread in OO. What sets have you been stunned that I approved? The listed set here has been Electric Arceus's bread and butter set since Gen 4.
I didn't mean to come across so so rude I felt like you weren't open to suggestions, anyway. Arceus-Electric (Arceus-Electric) @ Zap Plate Trait: Multitype EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Recover - Calm Mind You can even use a defog set which can fill the same roll with p much the same evs if you dont want the CM sweeper, but I personally feel the cm set is the best one Arceus-Electric (Arceus-Electric) @ Zap Plate Trait: Multitype EVs: 248 HP / 148 SDef / 112 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Judgment - Ice Beam - Recover - Defog The set can be changed to fill different rolls, for example if you dont want a special pivot you can make it defensive and slash ice beam or defog with Wilo
The trouble with losing Ice Beam is that you are then completely walled by every Ground, Grass and Dragon type. I will mention Defog and Will-O-Wisp in OO, but again I feel that support sets are done better by formes with better defensive typing.
??? Ice Beam is obviously better than Spacial Rend, but that's not really due to PP and accuracy. Mention Earth Plate because you need that to OHKO. Btw run 8 SAtk EVs to OHKO 4/0 Kyogre at +1. Also mention that you can run lower speed (enough for Palkia + some creep) for more bulk.
Mega Gengar can trap and eliminate Ferrothorn with Focus Blast (although it still takes heavy damage from Gyro Ball) and can Taunt Blissey to render it helpless or just Perish Song trap it. I'll mention the slower spreads and modify to 248 / 8.
Oh yeah I forgot about Shed Shell. I'll mention it, but according to the usage statistics most Blisseys run Leftovers.
Well, the main advantage of using Blissey instead of Chansey is because of Shed Shell and not having to use Eviolite. The trade-off of no continuous recovery for the ability to escape Shadow Tag in a Mega Gengar-infested tier is well worth it, in my opinion. So yeah, I would say that Shed Shell is the preferred item among competent Ubers players, which I believe should be the standard in which these analyses are set in, rather than using stats from the ladder.
I agree, being able to escape Mega Gengar is very important for Blissey. Well, I can't think of anything else to change/add so would the QC people mind having a look please?
Sorry for Double Post, but the QC people are being incredibly slow. Would you guys mind having a look please? I'd like to get this done.
OK, now written in full. I listed both the bulky and powerful EV spreads, since both have their pros and cons. Namely that the powerful one guarantees a 2KHOs 252/0 Groudon with Ice Beam without hazards, which the bulky spread needs 2 layers of Spikes to achieve. 252 SAtk Arceus Electric Ice Beam on 252/0 SDef Groudon: 50.5% - 59.4% 4 SAtk Arceus Electric Ice Beam on 252/0 SDef Groudon: 41.1% - 48.5%
Don't think you got a 3rd QC to approve the skeleton but w/e. Should probably add Refresh in Other Options.
I'm sorry for jumping the gun, but the Ubers QC are extremely inefficient. My Arceus-Rock Skeleton has been sitting around for over a week despite the fact that I made all the suggested changes and posted THREE TIMES asking them to check, twice in the thread itself once in the Ubers Reservation thread. It's ridiculous - ideally I shouldn't have to post asking them to check at all.
http://wiki.pokemon-online.eu/page/Arceus-Electric#tab=ORAS_Ubers On site, still pending Ubers QC and Grammar Check I guess?
Overview -and when used alongside Ice Beam,[add comma] Arceus-Electric has fantastic neutral coverage. -Arceus-Electric has a few flaws though [should probably switch Electric Arceus to Arceus-Electric in the other times it has been mentioned]. Although I'm not a grammar master, this looks pretty good. Didn't notice any glaring errors.
