Here, I finally have a first draft for what I had in mind for the guide: http://icekirby.github.io/PO-stuff/beginner/

Some things I'd like to point about the content I choose to put:
-This is meant to be a guide for total beginners,so it focuses on explaining how the game works from its most basic features.
-This guide is not meant to explain all roles and actions. The reason is that those can greatly vary from theme to theme, so if I tried to explain actions it would look like the other guides posted here that keep having to say stuff like "Role X usually has that, but sometimes it may not". This kind of thing is unnecessary for someone who doesn't even know the most basic role.
-I'm not putting things that can change quickly, like roles, themes or a list of MAs, nor things that absolutely cannot be outdated, like the rules. For those, there's an explanation about how to find that information.
-I wanted to emphasize how mafia is full of mind-games, so this is the reason I added more stuff about claims and frames than inspectors and killers.
-Most other stuff I left out is probably better fit for an Intermediate guide.
-Yes, I used a WYSIWYG editor, and I feel no shame on that. And yes, the page gets uglier as you scroll down, I probably will still tweak it a lot.

It doesn't look ugly. Overload of information at best, but that is kind of the point of any given guide.

The only thing I would say is that basic stuff is mostly 'how to' while intermediate is 'when/why to' which would apply to specific themes. If explaining all the basic stuff, then specific theme knowledge isn't what comes first.

How about mentioning watching how some people tend to play differently when mafia or PR (care when deciding which one). Quiet, talkative, sheeping, outlandish leading are examples.

For glossary, sheeping and possibly plurality. Although plurality is only for one theme atm, yet still comes around.

For a draft, it seems great. Imagery keeps the page active and intriguing, easing people into the information. A couple silly ones could even be beneficial (a picture to show a counter claim), but I understand the directness of the guide. Some additions may arise as time passes, such new Mafia scripts which everyone should know (such as /tt, although not so new now). The /help currently has some info and hints that could be useful. Would be productive to put that link in the /help and also to the #Mafia Tutoring channel in case people direct there (even though they shouldn't).

There was an in depth guide on the wiki a while back, and Steel and I had made a mafia glossary which was also on the wiki somewhere

I vaguely remember that, but I'm sure that guide was not really useful for beginners either. A Beginner's Guide shouldn't be in-depth, but simple and direct. I remember there was lots of bloat like "Curser" roles, which is something only coders see, not players.

Anyway, I made a few changes to my guide. Mostly aesthetical changes on the Play section to make it cleaner (everyone should go check the new icons there :3) and a few wording changes.

Well if I was an ordinary player, I would first looks at all official channels of Pokemon Forums...
According to a new player with really low info about this game, Its impossible to know are there any official channels except Tohjo falls...
Even if I get to know that there maybe some official channels, its impossible to know which are and which are not...

    So my suggestion is...

Instead of keeping the channels listing format in alphabetical order, we must change to another order with another colours...
First must come all official channels in alphabetically order with non-black colour...
Then must come all unofficial channels in alphabetical order with black colour...
This will also increase the popularity of NEU official channels such as Evolution game, Blackjack, etc.
This will drastically increase the population of Mafia channel which I feel...

Also a link to Beginner Guide must be kept in welcome message of Mafia...

    How does this sound ?

The bot displays a message in #Tohjo Falls every time a tour/game is started. So, people in #Tohjo Falls do know what the side channels and the mods answer questions about the side channels if there is any. Also, MAs know about the Beginner Guide so as soon as any MA is online, if they encounter a new player, they will either help them personally or refer them to the guide or someone else

Ok I contradict to both your statements in the following example...
That also happens to be my own experience...

The time I joined PO the first time, it was a off-time in Mafia...
I came to know about Tournaments...
The moment I came to know about Tournaments, I was struck to it for 30 days...
I didn't even knew about Mafia until another player told me...
Later I found that there were many more official channels...
So I guess instead of promoting Mafia in Tohjo Falls everytime Mafia is started, Just keeping official channels seperately is better which I feel...
Also new players do not know much about Mas and Mus...
Even if they know about mas and mus, its one in ten persons who ask for beginners guide...

It doesn't hurt to have the guide more visible for everyone.
Also, some people like me don't simply join a game until they know how it works: When I first found about Mafia, I looked for lots of guides to understand better how it works before even talking in the channel, so for those cases the MA sending the link is not enough.

As for separating channels, the idea is interesting, but it's not something that Mafia (or even the server script) can do anything about. That would require a modification to the server, client and scripts. Try suggesting this on the Simulator Suggestions section.
