I'm interested in seeing what role Steven will play this time. They've decided to show him off already so he's sure to be important in the story, but will he be the Champion again, a wandering trainer, or something else? He's one of those characters that are pretty popular but have very little story to them, so it's cool to see that they're doing something more with him.
No reason to think Steven wouldn't be the Champion, since the announced games are remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, and not Emerald. FRLG returned the Champion status to Green and HGSS did the same to Lance. If Steven ends up having a more relevant plot in the story, it might not be in the form of backstory, but the quest to find the "truth" about Mega Evolutions, like it was implied in the game trailer. Also, GameFreak seems to be wanking Mega Charizard X to no end. They featured him in Pokemon Origins, when they could have chosen Mega Zard Y, who was the first forme to be revealed, they featured him as the protagonist's main poke in the Mega Evolution Act and now they show him in the trailer, when it isn't even a native pokemon in Hoenn. Maybe the fact that Steven uses it (i think?) is enough reason to think he'll have a more important role.
I read some posts elsewhere that people are saying Mega Zard X is a place holder for an eventual Mega Evo of Metagross (that they don't wanna release so early) that Steven will use. Idk if this would be legit since they could've used Mega Aggron but may not want to give hints on his party. But I do agree with your statements on Zard X.
Despite the names, they normally are remakes of the third version. Look at HG/SS and how much it actually took from Crystal. Eusine/Suicune plot wasn't in either of Gold/Silver, yet it was in HG/SS. Also the small changes that Crystal made to the phone system/map/battle tower/etc Also the latter part is irrelevant, neither Yellow or Crystal changed the champion status. So saying that FR/LG, HG/SS had the same champions as the previous version doesn't matter at all.
Well Wander wondered if Steven would play the role of Champion in the next games, so i replied. Obviously they won't be exact copies of the originals, just like HGSS innovated in some things, and FRLG innovated in others, but the Champion NPC stayed the same, and that's what i meant, nothing more, nothing less. The fact that the remakes take more elements from the third version is only a consequence of Game Freak's development. They created the third game, at least in Crystal's case, unaware of their future enterprise growth, and if they would ever make a remake of those games.
MEGA SABLEYE HYPE #woot Some people are saying it's gonna get Wonder Guard because of the dex entry. It says that almost nothing can damage the gem or something. It could also get Stance Change if it's getting a King's Shield like move. Either way, I'm pumped for the Gen 3 remakes :]. If only they made a Mega Tropius...
According to Serebii, Mega Sableye has Magic Bounce along with increased Defence and Special Attack with reduced Speed.
Article copypasta from Serebii: "Further details have been revealed about the Pokémon, Mega Sableye. It is confirmed that Mega Sableye retains its Dark/Ghost-type, but rather than keep any of the abilities, it gets the ability Magic Bounce. It has increased Defense and Special Attack stats, but decreased Speed. During battle, Mega Sableye shelters itself behind the jewel, from where it can take advantage of any openings its target leaves exposed." Spoiler Anyway, the new information on Mega Sableye still doesn't explain the bolded quote. "Take advantage of any openings" sounds like a pokemon who tries to use an offensive move activates some kind of effect, which obviously comes from a move, while the ability shields Mega Sableye from passive moves. Looking pretty good right now.
I've not been following this at all, but sounds like a description of Shadow Force. It'd make sense since Sableye retains it's ghost type.
I was discussing it with friends and came up with a very unlikely, but cool idea. I speculated that Sableye would have a move similar to Aegislash like 'Gem Shield' that would do different thins dependant on which Megastone it held. Ruby - Mega Sableye holds a Ruby (like the one in the trailer), making Physical contact with Gem Shield will lower Atk and Def. Sapphire - Mega Sableye holds a Sapphire, attacking with a Special move against Gem Shield will lower SAtk and SDef.
From Serebii: Spoiler "It has been confirmed that Secret Bases have returned to Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, now known as Super-Secret Bases. As before, Secret Bases are created by using the move Secret Power on various parts of the Hoenn region including on walls and in trees. You can even set battle rules in your Secret Base. Players will be able to share their Secret Base with other Trainers around the world using StreetPass functionality, or they can create a QR Code for their unique Secret Base, enabling friends to visit it with ease. When visiting other Secret Bases, players can meet other Trainers in the same base and invite them back to their own Secret Base as Secret Pals. Players can interact and battle with Secret Pals, who have special skills that can support players in their adventures, such as sharing new Decorations, making a Pokémon Egg hatch faster, or raising the level of a select Pokémon by one. The more Secret Pals players have in their Secret Base, the more special skills will be available to help them in their adventures. Players can also capture flags while visiting other players’ Secret Bases. Flags are located beside the Secret PC in each Secret Base. The more flags a player collects, the higher the rank earned, which brings rewards like improving the skills of a player’s Secret Pals. A new character called Aarune has been revealed for this, and he is the Secret Base Expert. He currently resides in Hoenn, but is a world traveler, and has a Flygon" I advise you all to check it out and look at the screenshots page, because the Secret Bases look amazing.
Or Tough Claws, or Analytic or Sheer Force...hell even Iron Fist would still be good (Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash, Ice Punch). So glad Metagross got a Mega...just please be good.
GameBoy Advance styled Pokedex!! Thing at the the top is a Pikachu in an outfit lol. edit: pikachu's related to contests!
http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/the-secret-is-out-on-super-secret-bases/ yay secret bases (but they're called Super Secret Bases) Spoiler you can decorate stuff, battle with people in your base, and the capture the flag thing is back, which I believe came from sinnoh
Mega Diancie has Magic Bounce everybody. I'm not even sure if we already know regular Diancie's ability but this seems to be a bad boy. Spoiler Next issue of CoroCoro, on Aug 12th will have a "Mega Evolution Scoop" so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Everyone's so concerned about Diance. When are people going to realize poor Carbink is all alone overshadowed by awesome?
I dunno if this has been shown yet, so if it has sorry. I'm too lazy to check. Just delete this or whatever. Spoiler
http://serebii.net/omegarubyalphasapphire/megaevolutions.shtml mega metagross is confirmed to have tough claws and a boost to all of its stats EDIT: mega diancie also has +speed, +sp atk, + atk, while -def, - sp def, and also has magic bounce
Close but no cigar. I'm wondering if this will give it more usage. The main problem with Metagross was it's speed and weakness to Dark, Ghost, Fire, and Ground. This was off-putting to many, causing them to resort to higher caliber steel. I'm curious to see how this will work out.
Lmao that has to be a typo surely? that's like 2.5x Mega Aggron or Wailords weight. And ah thx, Tough Claws is very nice for it, will affect basically all its moves, and as long as it gets a good enough Atk boost Agility sets should be strong. And didn't even know Mega Sableye was confirmed to have Magic Bounce, that's the 3rd mega to recieve Magic Bounce now, and Mega Metagross is the 3rd one to get Tough Claws. All great abilities but could try changing it up a bit!
Mega Metagross looks great. It could either bring Metagross back to OU, or else make it one of UU's best Pokémon. Tough Claws is great, since a lot of its moves are quite weak. It also makes Bullet Punch more viable, since it now hits for 78 base power, very nearly as strong as an unSTABed Sucker Punch. I've heard all its stats get an increase, so assuming its stats are now 155/150/115/110/90 (20 points to each) here are some sets I came up with. Bulky Attacker Metagross @ Mega Stone Trait: Clear Body (Tough Claws) Adamant Nature (+Atk -SAtk) EV: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd Meteor Mash / Iron Head Earthquake Bullet Punch Zen Headbutt / Ice Punch / Thunder Punch MixGross Metagross @ Mega Stone Trait: Clear Body (Tough Claws) Naive Nature (+Spd -SDef) / Naughty Nature (+Atk -SDef) EV: 40 Atk / 252 SAtk / 216 Spd Meteor Mash / Iron Head Earthquake Grass Knot Zen Headbutt / Hidden Power Fire Think you can just send in your bulky Water type? Sorry, no can do. Grass Knot also gets a Tough Claws boost. AgiliGross Metagross @ Mega Stone Trait: Clear Body (Tough Claws) Adamant Nature (+Atk -SAtk) EV: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spd Agility Meteor Mash Zen Headbutt Earthquake Like the old set but better, since you can now afford to run an Adamant nature and Tough Claws is basically a recoil free Life Orb on all but Earthquake. Just make sure the dedicated physical walls are down first.
I'm liking all of the redesigned characters. They're a vast improvement upon those of the original. I'm also beginning to like Megagross's design more than I did initially. I'm excited to see how the finished product will turn out.
There's a few more megas revealed. Mega Salamence with Aerilate, Mega Altaria with Pixilate (now Dragon/Fairy type), Mega Lopunny with Scrappy (now Normal/Fighting). Also looks like contests are back too. All very exciting stuff, I'm really looking forward to this remake. Source: http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml
The Dragon fairy has finally arrived. Altaria is gonna be cool to use, and i hope the contests are more like in the anime :c
I didn't think there was much of a chance of Mega Salamence happening but I'm happy to be proven wrong. This gives me a sliver of hope for Shell Smash Shelgon... Something interesting I noticed about the Altaria evolution line is now every evolution has a different typing and the two types it starts with are both lost by the time you get to Mega Altaria. Swablu (Normal/Flying) -> Altaria (Dragon/Flying) -> Mega Altaria (Dragon/Fairy)
http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/103138/20140809/pokemon-omega-ruby-and-alpha-sapphire-corocoro.htm Rumors of course but the website in summary just talks about new features of Pokemon Contests. Some of the features being evolution during the contest to gain appeal, and Pikachu getting costumes (e.g. Rock Star) then getting a new move (Rock Star =Meteor Mash). And an example of evolution during the contest is Feebas evolving into Milotic. For the anime fans, skip to 2:40
