Twitch Plays Pokémon (Mafia!) Now that the TPP lore has reached the point where it has more named characters than Star Wars, why not make it into a Mafia theme? I've been working on three themes lately, and this is the first one I've managed to finish. This is a fairly simple theme so far. Only games of up to 13 players are possible atm, but there are also almost no role repeats. Every role has something at least interesting to do. I'm still not 100% sure about how certain things translate from code to server, as this is my first published theme, so I hope I can get a chance to test some gimmicky commands, if the theme is popular. Some things I'm not sure I scripted properly are /message and /inspect:modes. Without further ado, onto the content! The roles and sides are currently being reformatted to add flavor, uniqueness, strategy, and balance. Expect erratic changes in the role sheet over the next few days. Sides The Church of Helix - Naturally, the village. Good guys should rally around Bird Jesus (Samurai) to bring down opponents. Lord Helix appears in the backdrop as Inspector who can identify daykillers. The Cult of Dome - Mafia centered around the False Prophet Flareon. Flareon can kill during the night, and is immune to all forms of nightkills, while hits teammate, Gastly, can Poison. Flareon can also mess with the village every time they try t use the PC (aka /vote) by /Deceiving targets to give them a -99 vote. The Secular Kingdom - Team "AJ", led by LazorGator. Gator is a daykiller, but he cannot safely perform this task as long as Helix is watching. His allies Admiral Sentret and Burrito the Sexpeon must help him overcome this god. Roles Lord Helix: Omusuta-kami himself appears as the primary PR for the village. He is able to inspect a player during the night and is given a self /Protect [+Safeguard]. He also has the unique gimmick of being able to hax daykills and identify the player. Most notably, this makes LazorGator's kill unusable until Helix is gone. 5+ Bird Jesus: Bird Jesus functions basically as a Samurai. The daykill, /Gust, is self-revealing. This allows him to connect PRs early on. What makes this different than Link from the Zelda theme is that BJ is limited in terms of power. Gust will not effect Ghosts (Gastly) because it was a Normal attack in RBY. It also will always be revenged by LazorGator. 5+ Abby: Bodyguard, whose command also Safeguards, for team Helix. Pretty straightforward, /Protect BJ until he dies from randkilling Gator, then give support to other members. 5+ The Keeper: The Keeper is the Distractor role. He can /keep players during the night to prevent them from doing their action. Once per game, he can /Psychic to kill (non-revealing) during the day, but afterwards he will promptly forget the move in favor of Headbutt. This kill will hit Ghosts and is not revenged by Gator. The Keeper also cannot be /Deceive'd by Flareon (see below). 9+ Digrat: Non-revealing Standby Exposer. Should try not to blow Helix's cover, otherwise, he can be very useful for the village. 11+ Jay Leno: Villager. 6+ Cabbage: Hax on Poison, immune to Poison. 14+ Flareon: As the leader of the Dome side, Flareon functions both as a killer and like a Saboteur from the theme Lyncher. Flareon can either Kill or Deceive someone during the night. What Kill does is obvious. Deceive will convert the targeted role into themselves with -99 votes for 1 day, making them very easily voted off, or tricked into voting a PR ally off. Flareon is also immune to nightkills and poison, and he inspects/exposes as a "Follower of Helix", the nondescript result any member of Helix will inspect as. Flareon can also /Inspect, allowing them to pass as Helix. 5+ Gastly: Each individual Gastly on team Dome can /Poison a different target. The poison count is 2. Gastly are immune to daykills by Bird Jesus. 7, 10, 13 LazorGator: A Daykiller who leads the Seculars. Revenges Daykill from Bird Jesus! 5+ Admiral Sentret: Bodyguard, who also has a nightkill command. 8+ Burrito the Sexpeon: Distractor whose distract overrides all actions, including self-Protect and /Keep. Also gets hax on poison and has a vote of 2.5. 12+ What makes this theme unique? Spoiler I think I did a good job of balancing motives in this theme. The power relations between the PRs and the mafia require the players to be creative in order to defeat their opponents. Although on the surface, it may look like your typical Samurai-led Village against overpowered mafia theme, however, the way that different roles interact make for much more complicated confrontations. Bird Jesus is a valuable leader early on, but BJ cannot expect to survive the game. Either he will fill his main task of eliminating Gator and being killed in response, or Helix will die first, allowing Gator to easily dispose of BJ. Still, he can connect PRs n1 and give the village a coordinated chance. The dynamics involved with Flareon are interesting. For starters, he's unable to directly threaten the most important PRs. They will have to rely on their /Deceive gimmick to circumvent self-BG and the obvious BG on BJ. Meanwhile, Flareon is totally at the mercy of Bird Jesus daykills. The only option, especially in small games, is to claim Helix in PM in order to escape the wrath of BJ's randkill. What's cool about this is not only does it allow Flareon to guarantee its own safety, but amusingly, it benefits both sides. BJ can't randkill one of the two Helix claimers, as doing so would jeopardize their entire team, potentially giving LazorGator free reign to daykill as he pleases. At the same time, Flareon has to feed BJ true /Inspects to convince them that they are Helix(/Flareon), giving the village an edge against the Seculars. Everyone wins! If by some way Helix and BJ both go down, The Keeper can still beat Flareon, since /Keep will ensure Flareon can't mess with the voting. In 6 player, LazorGator doesn't have much a choice but to Randkill and/or kill BJ. However, once he is joined by Admiral Sentret in 8+, it becomes a match of which side can learn the key PR of the other first. Sentret will be able to figure out who Helix is by them being conspicuously BG'd consecutive nights. Once Sexpeon joins the fun, he can keep Helix at bay by distracting them. In addition, with Sentret+Sexpeon, double targeting Helix with Distract+Kill will actually penetrate the self-BG and eliminate them. Currently working on - Adding ATV vs Katie as a power struggle between PR and opposing mafia. ATV could take over as a village leader, in late game. Katie gets Safeguard and Inspect, in addition to a Daykill which is non-revealing. ATV is immune to Poison and gets 100% hax on Katie's Daykill. During the night, he can /Dragon to learn whether or not the target is Katie. If he successfully finds Katie, he will become immune to her Daykill. ATV can /Expose (self-revealing) during the day to clean or incriminate targets. He obviously can't do this as long as Katie is around. In short, whoever outlasts the other will benefit their team greatly. New Side: A - Any ideas who should lead? Code (outdated) is available at: http://pastebin.com/j87Rtjis
Bill is probably a good choice for an additional choice for Dome sides, since he's the one who gives out the Eevee of heretics. Burrito on AJ's team. :P
I was thinking of making Bill Godfather - two night /releases and a vote of 4, for huge games. Burrito the Sexpeon, Hooker for team AJ. Seems legit.
