General: Spritzee is a prime example of what the new fairy type has added to the Little Cup metagame. Its good set of resistances, great support movepool, useful ability and high-end bulk provide it with all it needs to perform admirably as a support Pokémon for defensive or balanced teams alike. That said Spritzee can often fall short when it comes to offensive presence, and more so, in speed. Cleric: Spritzee (F) @ Eviolite Level: 5 Trait: Aroma Veil EVs: 212 HP / 196 Def / 12 SAtk / 76 SDef / 12 Spe Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Moonblast - Wish - Aromatherapy - Protect Spoiler - Resists to Fighting, Dark and Bug and immune to Dragon give it chances to switch in all over the place. - Clerics are somewhat rare in LC (basically it's Chinchou, Lickitung or this) so its niche is not infringed upon by much. - Wish/Protect is a classic - Moonblast hits pretty hard on most Pokémon. Most notably fighters and Murkrow, which it OHKOs. - Makes a great partner for Recycle Munchlax because it beats fighters and is a Cleric. - Fears Poison Jab from likes of Meditite, Scraggy and Mienfoo. - Can't switch in on neutral stabs as well as it'd want to, so be careful. - EVs given are for a more physical bulk, can be changed to 212 HP / 116 Def / 12 SAtk / 156 SDef / 12 Spe for more special bulk. But this doesn't take on fighters quite as well. This set is one of Spritzee's more common sets, this is primarily because clerics are a rarity in Little Cup, and because Spritzee's stats, typing and ability make it extremely well suited to the role. Spritzee's resistances to Fighting-, Bug- and Dark-type attacks give it ample opportunity to switch in against a wide array of teams and perform its duty. Moonblast isn't going to be winning any awards for raw damage when neutral, but it does hit a number of common threats such as Mienfoo and Murkrow for OHKOs. The Wish/Protect combination gives Spritzee a reliable way to heal itself, and to pass heals to other Pokémon that may need it. Aromatherapy is of course the center point of this set, it makes Spritzee an exceptional partner to Pokémon such as Recycle Munchlax that despise being hit by status moves. Despite Spritzee's useful resistances, it does have to be cautious of Poison Jab on Mienfoo and Meditite especially, as it can lay fatal amounts of damage on Spritzee, especially if you switched into Mienfoo's Knock Off. The EVs given are for a physically oriented defense, this makes you a more effective check to Pokémon like Murkrow, who have neutral physical STABs to hit hit you with, but makes you less effective against special attackers like Houndour, if you want a more specially defensive spread, a spread of 212 HP / 116 Def / 12 SAtk / 156 SDef / 12 Spe can be used. Other Options - Calm Mind - Offensive moves like Tbolt, Energy Ball, Flash Cannon, Psychic and Charge Beam - Trick Room - Screens - Rain Dance/Sunny Day - Skill Swap - Toxic - Disable - Hidden Powers (noatble Ground for Magnemite) Checks and Counters Spritzee can struggle to put up the offensive power needed to take on specially defensive Pokémon such as Munchlax, or Pokémon that resist its STAB such as Ferroseed or Magnemite. Although the former two can be mitigated by HP Fire and Ground respectively. Fire types such as Ponyta also post a similar threat, and do not have a 4x weakness to exploit as the steel types do. While Spritzee is a check to many fighting types, no matter what the set, it has to fear Poison Jab from them, as it can bring about an unexpected demise at their hands.
on the cleric set only 12 evs need to be put in SpA and the rest put in speed :v honestly I think CM deserves its own set. Its pretty hard to stop once it gets going. After a few boosts draining kiss turns into essentially reliable recovery. All that needs to be done is getting rid of its Checks and counters which isn't the hardest things to do I'll flesh this post out later
Fixed that EV mistake, I'll do some testing with CM Sprit before I add it. Never had experience with it myself. If you want to before I've done that (it might take a day or two) feel free to add it yourself.
Mention Disable in OO since it takes advantage of its ability Aroma Veil, but also say that it doesn't find room for that Mention also that Hidden Power Ground can be used to check Magnemite, but like Disable it doesn't find room for it.
Calm Mind is fine in OO imo as it would rather have Aroma to support the rest of the team, but I'll test it later today. Unless I find Calm Mind good enough for it own set, I'm Approving. Good job on this!
I really think that Calm Mind + Wish warrants its own set. Spritzee can set up Calm Minds in the face of so many Pokemon it's not even funny. Non-LO Murkrow, Abra, non-LO Meditite, Fletchling, non-Nasty Plot Misdrevus, Mienfoo, Timburr, the list goes on. With Calm Mind in its movepool, Spritzee takes on the role of a stallbreaker, win-condition, and check to many common threats in the metagame, and cleric at the same time. Furthermore, the only Pokemon that can really stop a boosted Spritzee are those that resist Moonblast, and when you think about it, only Ferroseed, Trubbish, and Grimer are common Fairy-resists in the metagame. Even things like a Pawniard's Iron Head and Croagunk's Gunk Shot can be survived from full health, and after around two boosts and some prior damage (which really isn't hard to get, considering how poor their bulk is and how easy it is to set up with Spritzee), both Croagunk and Pawniard are OHKOed. Here is the set: Spritzee (M) @ Eviolite Ability: Aroma Veil EVs: 212 HP / 196 Def / 12 SAtk / 76 SDef / 12 Spd Bold Nature - Wish - Calm Mind - Protect / Aromatherapy - Moonblast I can provide calcs and search for good replays if needed.
