The Resistance Players: 5-10 Communication: No Outside Contact [Instructions copied from Wikipedia, then adapted for #RTM] Setup At the start of the game, one third of the group (rounded up to the nearest whole number) are randomly and secretly chosen to be Imperial Spies, while the rest of the group are Resistance. The Imperial Spies are made aware of each other without the Resistance members knowing - the only thing the Resistance members know is how many spies exist, not who they are. The Leader selects a certain number of players to send out on a mission (the Leader may choose to go out on the mission himself/herself, but is not required to), starting with Mission 1. The table below shows the required number of players to go out on each mission. All of the players then discuss the Leader's choice and PM the host their vote on whether to start the mission with that team or not. The host reveals the responses of all players. If a majority of players vote "no" to the proposal or it's a tie, leadership passes on to the next player, who proposes his own mission. This continues until a majority of players agree with the current Leader's mission assignment. In the physical game, 5 consecutive "failed to start" decisions in a row typically credits the win to the Spies. To "go" on a mission, players PM the host with "Pass" or "Fail" (Resistance members MUST respond with "Pass" but Spies may respond with anything). If even one player says "Fail", the spy team has sabotaged the mission and earns one point (except for the above-noted exceptions on Mission 4, where it may be necessary for 2 "Fails" in order for the mission to fail). The host reveals how many pass and fails there were, but not who said what. The game continues until one team accumulates 3 points. Tips and Texts **To save time, just tell players if they don't receive a PM, they are Resistance. **Resistance aren't required to PM you "Pass" for a mission but make sure you wait to avoid hinting that there might be a lot of Resistance members in the group. **Open a PM window with all the current players. Organize the tabs so all the Spies are at the beginning. Then have another PM open with a member not playing. Leave your PM window focus on this tab a lot, this will allow you to see who has "voted" for a mission to pass or fail, so its easier to organize. (Spies in Red, Resistance in Green, Non-player in Blue). Now when you ask for the voting on if the mission starts or not, you can easily determine when everyone has responded as their names will turn red. Spy PM: You are a Spy. Tried this with fuzzy and some others a bit ago and it definitely requires a lot of thinking from village especially if spies split their votes. As a side note, I believe spies are allowed to PM each other for a small amount of time once they receive their roles, but once the game starts, they can't.
I actually coded a server plugin that implements that game as an channel game (like Mafia channel) a long time ago. I still have the script, but I don't know if it would need any adjustment. Code: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10065307/resistance.js If you just want to test if it works, it's possible to ask some server owner to use /addplugin [that link here]. It will load the script temporarily (until server is reset or /updatescripts is used).
I played this theme before, it was well played but some people just decline any mission that they're not in even if they are a spy. And it does require alot of thinking
