Shit, I should've put deep sea thermal vents for my amazing thing instead of what I actually put (No joke, it was part of what I had in mind). Oh well
So the extra rule is pretty much that any player not of the seven participants can support any one team in a matchup - doing so gives that team $1.001 for the sake of winning - and hypothetically could mean that there could be a team given money equal to the earth's population - 8 (7 + dopog) [also assuming that all of the earths people believe in not creating more than one forum account per person but we can get to that debate later]. Because of the additional $0.001 the team with more supporters will effectively solve "tiebreakers" Any clarifications please ask If you don't know what your amazing thing was and you're not marina I will PM it to you on request / talk to me on server Deadline for "round 1" will be three days from now 26th April 00:00 GMT +0. Subsequent rounds will last one day This is the deadline for giving money to teams and gambling on teams. And also for the four to get their brackets in. And for non players to support teams. So basically players in the game should send me a PM with; Giving; Love: $x dopog: $x etc. Gambling; dopog: $x Pokemanz: $x etc. Last rule: You don't have to give at all in a round but you must gamble at least $100 each round. If you don't have that much you must gamble it all. What do you do? GO!
HOLY FUCK THESE RULES ARE CONFUSING I'M JUST GONNA BET IT ALL ON POKEMANZ (unrelated: whoever put "repeating a lame joke till it becomes funny" - I love you and you are beautiful)
So Stuff is kinda due tomorrow so I'd jump on that... Anyway if anyone needs help I'll go through an example round 1 with three players and only two matchups #1 Windblown vs #4 meeps #3 San Antonio vs #2 Phoenix ~ Player 1 sends; Giving; Windblown: $10 Phoenix: $50 Gambling Windblown: $50 meeps: $10 Phoenix: $300 ~ Player 2 sends Giving; meeps; $400 Gambling; meeps; $600 ~ Player 3 sends Giving; Windblown: $237 Phoenix: $50 Gambling; Windblown; $400 So it would be meeps ($400) def. Windblown ($257) and Phoenix ($100) eats San Antonio ($1,000,000 - combined ages of their team) And so Player 1 doubles the $300 they bet on phoenix and the $10 they bet on meeps but loses the $50 on windblown along with the $60 they spent on giving. Do the math they have $1200 Player 2 doubles the $600 on meeps but gave $400 so they have [($1000 - $300) + ($600)] = $1200 Player 3 is a fool and has literally no money (literally literally no money means $313) Talking to people will mean this challenge is more than just guesswork/"yolo" And I do really want you to do it. Even if you can't do it out of caring about the game do it for me! Try talk to other people ! bye
Apologies fellas my home net is just acting all sorts of lame. On my phone right now; will hopefully be able to get it working tonight if not I'll keep you posted. And yeah @waehofen pm your support or if it's visibly perceivable in-thread who you are supporting I'll take that- although PM takes precedence
Just to clarify about updating from my phone - it's very hard/not gonna happen : ( Maybe if I have a lot of time... Just give it a day and we'll be back on track.
Just hold another twelve hours. Sorry ladies and gents : ( Also anyone can send me a bracket before update today (players and non-players alike)! It may or may not help you if it's a good bracket! Byeeaaa
Currently endeavouring to make the results look wonderful. Am only now just wondering if it was/will be a fruitful task : S
Challenge 5 Round 1 Results Love (#1) vs Marina (#8) Basically the love vs marina match was the biggest beatdown the world of pokemon has 'er seen since after playing competitive pokemon for a while you realised that you could chuck your pokemon version of choice on a setting where you could switch-out everytime they wanted to switch. I mean after playing competitive pokemon how absolutely cheap is that! It's almost as bad as chucking a fourth fire move on your typhlosion in case ember, flame wheel and flamethrower all run out of PP. You might ask how can someone win a Pokemon match 64-0, and you'd be right if you did - it was more like 500+ to ZERO. What? You can't have that either? Well you shouldn't be able to switch out against those poor Gym Leaders when they SHOULD - but that's not how life works is it - get a free switch in either; "What" a "joke"! dopog (#5) vs Coconut Macarons (#4) The emotional favourite dopog was eliminated in a "could-have-been-an-all-time-great-match" Game 7 against the infamous Coconut Macarons when they failed to make the trip to enter the homecourt of the coconut macarons for the fourth time in the series. After the game dopog's star player - in tears over not having the great joy that is being involved in another great series of fictitious matchups of inanimate objects, odd people and abstract concepts that dopog commentates on - thought to themselves "If someone asked me what the difference was in this series, I would have to say homecourt advantage" later this same player was asked; "what do you think was the difference in this series?" to which he/she replied ~ "maybe we could have sacrificed more as a team for these games, but yes, yes I do think it was ultimately stupid that we were asked to play in a fan-forced oven four out seven games of the series". repeating a lame joke till it becomes funny (#3) vs Life (#6) In perhaps the matchup everyone was most excited about, repeating a joke till it becomes funny was up against life (LIFE!). After the first 90 had passed it was 2-2. But in a tense extra period involving several instances of crowd members entering the pitch to recover their lost sense of self-efficacy, repeating a lame joke was found to be better than life itself as they slotted home two in the last five minutes. how exciting! I almost wish it was a real game! That's actually ridiculous - repeating a lame joke till it becomes funny is greater than life. You heard it here first folks. #idon'tknowwhati'mwriting Pokemanz (#7) vs Maurice Stuckenschneider (#2) Other teams played sports. I don't know if anyone watched. Especially because there are few major sporting leagues where 7-2 is a relatively common score. And where the two seed gets obliterated by the seven seed. Oh you're telling me that's what's happening with Charlotte vs. Miami? Wait what..... nsis Here is a visual representation of what went down (the picture is a bit of a monster so don't view it if you don't want to); If you want more commentary/pics like this you can give some feedback? ! Money was lost, money was gained. Here is the leaderboard after round 1; Leaderboard Michu: $1996 Beast: $1500 Marquis: $1276 MeowMix: $1200 Marina: $1050 Batman: $900 ajhockeystar: $100 Pretty Clear who is on top and bottom! But let's not be too hasty to declare anyone anything yet! Round 2 comes out in a bit
Ok so Round 2 It's gonna be good I hope! Pretty much same as last round Except; The winner will be decided by who has more "real money". How do we calculate real money? Real money; { if total money given < 501 = total money given { if 1501 > total money given > 500 = | 1000 - total money given | { if 2501 > total money given > 1500 = | 2000 - total money given | And so on and so forth such that real money will oscillate (dunno if right word) between 500 and 0. examples; If total money (combined money all players give) is 300: real money = 300 If total money is 801: real money = 1000 - 801 = 199 If total money is 1330: real money = | 1000 - 1330 | = | -330 | = 330 The | x | means absolute value just in case other people use different signs/haven't done lots of maths/whatever who really cares I doubt we'll get something past 1000 anyway Oh the other change is that you must gamble at least $200 this round! Yeah so send me a PM with giving and gambling amounts for the following matchups by tomorrow! Deadline will be presented with clarity tonight! Love (#1) vs. Coconut Macarons (#4) repeating a lame joke till it becomes funny (#3) vs. Pokemanz (#7) Byeee!
Yo Sorry a bit busy so don't expect brilliance as with the prior round! Love (#1) vs Coconut Macarons (#4) Wow. Just wow. Good game. etc. etc. Because Love is.... what even is love... I guess it's not a physical entity so it was able to enter even the oven of doom which the coconut macarons called homecourt. They were facing off in curling! See that's funny! Because like curling is played on ice? And it's an oven! What Anyway Love won! Wasn't that surprising but it was gee repeating a lame joke till it becomes funny (#3) vs Pokemanz (#7) poor Pokemanz !!!!!! REPEATING A LAME JOKE TILL IT BECOMES FUNNY So we have our finalists: Love vs. repeating a lame joke till it becomes funny! So there have been some changes in the leaderboard!; Leaderboard; Marquis: $2450 Michu: $1998 MeowMix: $1700 Marina: $1450 Beast: $750 Batman: $700 ajhockeystar: $200 A lot of dramas
yo dopog I'm very curious as to the money totals for all of those contestants, release information pls? :D :D :D
Apologies for the one day absence; have been ill and busy : ( Anyway so this round will be similar to last round (using real money again) except; You must gamble at least $400 - Unless you are aj ?lol? After the gamble and give money is given out by all we will have another period in which you will be able to give more money! Will this thicken the plot? Who knows! Winnings on this round are at 2.5:1 e.g. If I gamble 100 on something and it wins you get 250! Aj's maximum money is $500! May have left something out but I don't think so just check back tomorrow. I will reply to in-thread/chat questions tomorrow. Try to get the first set of gamble/give money on the final round asap! Please!!!!!!!!!!! Bue!
Hi; so Rules are as they are in above post #276 Deadline for giving and gambling will be 36 hours from now I think that's 13:00 GMT+0 Unless all participants get it in earlier! Also I will not be disclosing the amounts of money giving to each "team" until postgame! Bye Any other questions I'm on server atm - you can also submit there if you have an idea
What a weak number of submissions. Far out extending but like life doesn't work this way. Can't just keep pushing it back : (
